I ordered a bed and am going to send the drawer back when they try to deliver it.
TBH I can't be bothered persuing it as I can't be arsed and at the end of the day I do already have a bed but it would have been nice to have a new one though!

if it was a small independent company with a handful of employees and a lot to lose then i could see Carmenere's point, i really could.

but it is a multi-million £ household name whose toilet roll budget is probably more than it will cost to supply everyone with the goods they ordered!

i will show no mercy

mollysawally · 08/07/2008 13:46

I'll bring the chains!

zippitippitoes · 08/07/2008 13:47

i can see why you chanced ordering but i think morally you dont have legs to stand on lol

i tghought they all had clauses for this now

piratecat · 08/07/2008 13:54

i just can't stop thining about the satin duvet cover and matching embroidered pillowcases.

apparently there was a burgandy option.

I've just had a read at the Terms and conditions. We are supposed to get 2 emails. One bounce-back and another one detailing what was bought. I've only had 1 email from them. I've printed it and it does def say bedstead.

My 'item' will be delivered tomorrow and no doubt it'll be going back. I suppose at least they've finally got round to changing the website to show the actual price of the bed. They've removed the option for bedstead with storage.

I think seeing as it's their mistake, they should come to some middle ground about the whole thing - allow us to buy the bed at half price or something.

If their customer service is terrible though, it's tempting to email Watchdog or something. Most people have asked to apeak to a supervisor and if they're rude then it should be apologised for.

zippitippitoes · 08/07/2008 15:33

but you would have guessed this would be the outcome surely?

it seems a bit harsh to try and exploit an obvious error and then er be unhappy

mollysawally · 08/07/2008 15:37

Harsh? I ordered a bed and I recieved drawers, its really that simple. I want what I ordered and paid for, nothing harsh about that.
And I will fight for my rights as a consumer. Nothing morally wrong in that.

zippitippitoes · 08/07/2008 15:42

good luck

gscrym · 08/07/2008 15:51

If they had contacted me and said they had made a mistake, were sorry for inconvenience and cancelled order, then I would have went with it. They've known for over 2 weeks about this problem with the website and have only just changed the mistake. They've also made no attempt to contact anyone to make them aware of the error, even though they themselves knew about it. People have also spoken to customer services who have said 'if that's what it's listed as and you've ordered it, we would have to honour it.'
I understand that if they honour selling a load of £159 beds for £25, that would cost them a lot of money. By the same token, if they have poor customer service, that can cost them a lot as well. If they were willing to offer something as a goodwill gesture, then they may keep some customers. If they're rude, then people will take their money elsewhere. Some people may have liked the bed and bought it anyway.

nappyaddict · 09/07/2008 00:11

on the thread in the legal section someone said you need to accept delivery of the drawer and then ring up to complain. if you don't accept delivery of the drawer the contract is not in place apparently.

gscrym · 09/07/2008 14:24

Just sent the drawer back. The delivery men were lovely. I spoke to customer services who'll be ringing back. I've been very polite and not shouty but I'm getting a little narked at being asked 'you didn't really think you'd be getting a bed for £25?'. I said I wasn't aware if they had promos or offers on so I ordered at the price that was quoted as I was looking for that type od bed anyway. It was their mistake. She then told me 'I don't know what was on our website 2 weeks ago'. I said that the option for what I had bought was removed last Friday so was still there till then.

Oh well, lets see what the next phone call brings. At least I still have a comfy bed.

CJMommy · 10/07/2008 14:07

Just had a call from a customer services person, think she was doing the rounds, apologising for their mistake. Anyway, I said that it wasn't a problem as we spoke to someone who confirmed that a contract was in place and they would re-order and arrange delivery of beds at the advertised price. She told me she had no record of this then DID find a pending order but said she thinks it's for a drawer again!!! I explained that we had already refused delivery of drawers and were awaiting beds as promised...... watch this space {grin]

CJMommy · 10/07/2008 14:08

HappyNewYearFeet06 · 11/07/2008 09:18

I just had a phone call from a lady who said she had a list of numbers to call. I recieved the drawers the other day and was out so still have them. She has arranged for them to be collected but will be between now and the 23rd of July!

She said if I want to take it further then send a letter to their directors office. Well, I'm going to! With a copy of the email I received with details of a bedstead with storage as ordered. Lets see what they say if i kick up enough fuss.

2point4kids · 11/07/2008 14:50

I just had a call from a man there saying he had a list of people to call and tell that the price was wrong.
He said I have 2 choices. Cancel my order or pay the extra money for the bed.
I said I didnt wantr to do either! as I believe they have to honour my order seeing as I've already paid.
He said 'well our legal people must know their stuff and it obviously isnt true that they have to honour the order or they wouldnt be asking me to call you'
I told him they were most likely chancing their luck to try and get people to cancel!

He said somene will call me to discuss further but is leaving my order in place at £25 for now

Must look up the legal stuff before they call back

TequilaMockinBird · 11/07/2008 15:44

Just found this and thought of you all.

Hopefully Additions will honour the price you have paid, but just incase they don't, if you have a NEXT Clearance shop close by it may be worth a call to them to see if they have any of these!

LyraSilvertongue · 11/07/2008 23:07

I got a call this morning cancelling my order.
Oh well.
Ideally I'd like a 6ft bed anyway. I'll get one from Ikea.

flubdub · 12/07/2008 17:14

Iv never watched a thread with such interest!!
Been telling my dp all about it!
You go girlies! Its their mistake!
Theyre a MASSIVE company, and they wont have paid much more for the beds than £25 anyway, so they wont be losing much, if anything .

WeeBesom · 13/07/2008 08:02

Well I have not even received a drawer yet (my delivery was due in August) and I am still fighting it.

They had my money since 26th June and only now are they talking of cancelling my order. They knew there was a problem ages ago! They have a cheek to say to people that it can take two weeks for a refund!

When they called yesterday I quoted the Sale of goods act 1979 and as far as I can see their terms and conditions don't overule my statutory rights as laid out in the act. Unless there is another act that is specific to internet purchases that I don't know about?

The sale of goods act says that items must be as described, well I have an email describing a bed, not even mentioning a drawer!
I am battling on as their attitude stinks!

I had the old "you didn't expect to get a bed for £25.oo?" line yesterday and said well actually I did!

As soon as I quoted the SOGA1979 they passed my case onto another dept and refused to comment further. I am expecting to be contacted tomorrow. She hadn't even heard of it which I find shocking!

How is everyone else getting on?

dinkyboysmum · 13/07/2008 15:23

i have heard nothing from them.
i ordered the walnut bed, so delievry not due till auagust. no-one has called me yet to cancel...it must be a long list they are going through!

HappyNewYearFeet06 · 14/07/2008 11:27

I stillhave drawers sitting in my garage and not due to picked up anytime soon by the soudns of it. However, I have an email stating a bedstead with drawers sowillbe including a copy in my letter to directors office which is where the lady told me to send a letter.

I'm not going to give up like I usually do!
