All ready to go. Pictures taken and sent to Ds1 and DH.

Serious butterflies now.

dizzydixies · 18/08/2009 08:30

guys, this was me last year after DD1 went to school. DD3 was only 2wks old and I'd just lost my mum so PLEASE believe me when I say its all possible, you'll all be fine and this time next year you'll be looking back thinking how the hell has that gone past SO quickly?!?!?!

mine starts P2 tomorrow so is delighted and has announced she's going to be helping all the P1s this year

good luck ladies - if Kitty can do it you all can

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 18/08/2009 08:36

Good luck those going off to primary one this morning

DD is off to start primary 2 this morning and I feel all tearful all over again at how grown up she is getting now.
DS was supposed to have his nursery induction day this morning but his ENT appointment came through in the hols and it is at the same time, typical but needs must.

aGal where about are you?

shootfromthehip · 18/08/2009 08:39

Agal- we are Perthshire but her school is in Stirling Council. Apparently they all do the full day here. Am a bit but I suppose it's better for childcare arrangements for those that have to make some.

Photos done here too- just need DH to get ready and then we can go!!!

DD been dressed since 7.45am and is bubbling with excitement.

I'm a wreck!

Good luck all x

weegiemum · 18/08/2009 08:43

Good luck to everyone going off to start/restart today.

Ours had a great day yesterday - really glad to be back to school/see friends/new teachers/new classrooms.

Dd1 especially excited that instead of a 'traffic light' system for behaviour in her class this year, there is a weather one - you move from the sun to the grey cloud to the rainy cloud and if you are on the rainy cloud you are losing Golden Time! Much more exciting that red, yellow and green!

PotPourri · 18/08/2009 09:45

Hope everyone has recovered from the new starts today!

Well, DD1 got on the 'big school bus' today, and she was even able to fasten herself in. She was first on, so we got a photo and she and her little sister were sooooo excited about the whole thing. I didn't cry at all - very proud of myself. Can't wait to find out if she was ok though... She's as confident wee thing, so hopefully will have talked to one of the bigger girls when they got on.

I sent the gym bag today as there was a little note in the bag telling you about breaks and stuff like that, including to send the gym bag at the beginning of each week, to be taken home on a Friday. Not sure if they will be doing gym on their half days, but at least it will be there anyhow.

Must collect some phone numbers next week from mums who have kids at the nursery too, as I spent most of the evening trying to find someone in the phonebook (only knew a few surnames) to find out if they had homework - which DD1 said they did. But it turns out they didn't. Sigh!!!

Just number 2 to get settled next week now. I hope it all goes as smoothly for her! DS is going to LOVE getting the child minder's full attention from now on!!

brokenspacebar · 18/08/2009 09:51

Well my ds is away, I cried, he held my hand, I met his new one to one support worker.

I am still nervous and worried about my ds, I am sure it will get easier, if he enjoys school.

dizzie, your dd sounds lovely!

shoot that is a long day! my ds finishes at 2.45 when he goes full time 12.15 for the next two weeks, dd at 3.15, which is a bit of a nuisance really, 30 mins in the playground after school for ds, then we all walk home.

shootfromthehip · 18/08/2009 09:59

Awwww.... the deed is done- she was happily playing away when we left: I made it to the door and burst into tears! Have blubbed all the way home.

She'll be fine and as she is in a P1/2 composite, will have lots of help from the P2's.

expatinscotland · 18/08/2009 10:11

She's off!

She went right in and was utterly chuffed.

She was sitting next to a mate from nursery.

DD2 was jealous and had a bit of a meltdown, poor bairn! She cried and said she wanted to go to school, but she's only 3!

She was pleased enough to go into nursery.

Peace for an entire 1.25 hours, well, DS is here.

shootfromthehip · 18/08/2009 10:15

Great news Expat- saw a couple of LO's howling and clinging to their parent's legs so thank goodness we weren't one of them. Enjoy the peace and quiet!

expatinscotland · 18/08/2009 10:19

one wee boy looked a bit dubious about it all. but everyone knows everyone else as it's just a small village.

codinbatterindailymail · 18/08/2009 10:21

Oh lawks. DS1 doesn't even start till next year, and I'm already a wreck reading this, and seeing some RL pals' PFBs starting this week.

I'll have dissolved by next August.

bubblegumsupermum · 18/08/2009 10:29

Think all of you need to hold my hand,

DD goes into 1st year

DS goes into p1

I'll need nerve tablets!!

Lindax · 18/08/2009 10:31

just dropped ds in for day two, they had to line up in playground and go in by themselves - he (and a few others) came back sobbing they didnt want to go in. managed to keep my tears a bay until I got him to go in, but such a contrast to yesterday when all was fine. hope he is okay.............

will be clock watching until 12 when I pick him up again.

brokenspacebar · 18/08/2009 10:34

aww bubblegum, I'll hold your hand, that is a double whammy, ds's 1 to 1 from last year was talking to us and she was was teary after seeing her dd off to high school and then seeing ds in his uniform sort of started her off again, which made me start - but I managed to contain myself until ds got inside school, just.

brokenspacebar · 18/08/2009 10:36

I am clock watching too Lindax, I need to get up and do something, feels ridiculous just sitting here!

I hope your ds enjoys it, it is hard when they cry, well done for holding back the tears.

aGalChangedHerName · 18/08/2009 10:45

Slattern i am in Livingston.

Weegie they have the cloud system at ours for Golden Time too.

Expat the children were allowed to take their name card and sit where they wanted so dd1 bagged the seat next to her nursery pal too (only person she knows in the class) so she waved me off quite happily.

I however made a complete tit of myself when i came out. Sobbed my heart out and set off best friend so the two of us were a bloody disgrace!!

Thank god thats over with. The principal teacher of the infants is my ds1's P1 teacher from years ago. Said she would look after dd1 so feeling much better now.

lilacclaire · 18/08/2009 11:23

Lindax mine had to go in himself today as well and he looked a bit lost and confused, it was horrible, also clockwatching till 12 here.

bubblegumsupermum · 18/08/2009 11:29

Thanks Brokenspacebar I'll need it!!

My DS hated nursery school, liked it once he was there, but for the full term every day I had to drag him in, I'm dreading school because he is still insiting he's not going, he won't even try his uniform on

Chrysanthemum5 · 18/08/2009 11:34

Glad your DCs are all doing well. DS doesn't start until Friday, his school has such a huge P1 intake they have split it over three days for the start. He's going on the same day as his best friend from nursery so I hope he will be ok. More worried about next week when all the children will be together, it just seems such a huge school!

prettybird · 18/08/2009 11:53

Agalch - I take it from your comments that you managed to get the school sorted? I seem to recall that you had some concerns.

Ds was fine with his day back. hes' now in P5 but it does seem like only yesterday that he was starting in P1!

He seems to have spent most the day drawing "his holiday". He's done a great intepretation of our week in Greece which includes all the key elements: the swimminh pool (bright blue, with a lighter blue square in the corner, which was the "baby" section), hotel parasols complete with HM (which dh and I couldn't work out until we realsied that they stood from "Hotel meganissi") and all sorts of other wee details which were lovely to see.

sweetkitty · 18/08/2009 11:55

I still cried this morning, she took her wee friends hand and in they went didn't look back.

Mad morning though got to stay to the bell with DD1 so 8.55am then get the 2 other ones back in the car and down to nursery DD2 was late.

aGalChangedHerName · 18/08/2009 12:06

Hi PB yes she got into the catchment school thank god. I know of a mum still fighting to get her dd2 in there. Meand her dd's will be at different schools if she can't get he rin.

bargainhuntingbetty · 18/08/2009 12:12

Hi Gal, I know that the school is completely oversubscribed with something rediculous like 88 P1's this year. I think we should start a petition up to get another school built in the area. We desperately need it.

Glad your wee one went in okay.
