sweetkitty, i am in lanarkshire too - also near motherwell

KristinaM · 16/08/2009 21:27

i have DS2 starting p1 tomorrow. I am trying not to worry as its only for a few hours and he knows half his class from nursery. We know the lovely teacher as she taught DD1

i didn't spend much, the only expensive thing was shoes as he is a 13!!!!

apart from that , just trousers and shirts. i don't buy the fancy jumpers in school colours at £13 a time, they loose them just as quickly as the ones that cost £2-3

expat - i find that plimsolls from asda and deichman are narrow fitting. M&S are very wide

DS starts P1 on Wednesday - the rest of the school goes back on Tuesday but they're letting the older ones settle back before they put the little uns in. He's going to be a composite 1/2/3 and there's still only 19 of them!

I've just had a panic reading this - I forgot about 'gymmies' - trip into town tomorrow now beckons to check his shoe size....

I am quite convinced that I will be greeting on the day. On Tuesday DS starts playgroup, so suddenky I am going to be faced with all this time to myself on the mornings I don't go to work

weegiemum · 17/08/2009 08:16

Hope it all goes well ladies!! At least in Glasgow it is pouring rain so you can let the rain wash away your tears!

(Crying? Me? No! I just got very wet on the walk to school!)

Mine are gone! They are first pick up on their school bus run at 8.10!! Hooray! All very excited, dressed in their nice new clothes etc -

sweetkitty · 17/08/2009 09:25

glasjam · 17/08/2009 10:50

Sorry ladies haven't been on here for the preamble but have just dropped the PFB off at his first day. I really thought that I probably wouldn't cry but I had a HARD job holding it together when he went and found his little peg to hang his coat up on. But I managed to do it and when I came out it had stopped raining. He was looking well happy! Quite a strange feeling isn't it?

Lindax · 17/08/2009 11:25

anothor one in and no tears (from either of us!). Quick hug, kiss and bye mum.

didn't look best pleased to be sat next to a girl though!

Lindax · 17/08/2009 11:27

anothor another

expatinscotland · 17/08/2009 11:32

Well, the rain's cleared up here in the West.

The Scottish news keeps banging on about back to school and DD1 keeps saying, 'But it's tomorrow. It's only today for Glas-GOH.'

When we were in John Lewis waiting for their shoe fitting appointment we wondered around and a sales assistant asked if we needed help with uniform stuff.

And DD1 chimed, in such Highland accent as she is now mistress of, 'Oh, no thank you. These are all for Glas-GOH and we live in Argyll but I am from Edinbra.'

expatinscotland · 17/08/2009 11:34

Sweetkitty, here's a nice cuppa with extra sugar for you.

aGalChangedHerName · 17/08/2009 11:59

Glad all the lo's went in fine for you all.

I will be here tomorrow after weeping seeing dd1 go off to big school lol!!

bargainhuntingbetty · 17/08/2009 13:16

Good luck all who are doing it tomorrow.

sweetkitty · 17/08/2009 13:45

Well that's it first day, we all congregated in the reception including some wee ones that had their entire extended family there, we walked them down, DD1's desk was right at the back and she is next to a BOY, started sobbing as I left he classroom they all looked so wee.

she found her wee nursery friends and she was happy, there was one wee girl there obviously PFB and only child, who's Mum, Dad and Gran were fussing around her taking about 90 pictures a minute, the girl looked so scared and I don't think I saw her smile one, she didn't know anyone either but she is across from DD1 who is the chattiest little thing ever so she will be fine.

But she said it was fabulous and she wants to go everyday

Now for tomorrow DP back at work so I have school and nursery run on my own with the 3 of them

Just spotted this - late as per...

Anyway, my little girl started in Lanark today. All went well. She was as cute as can be.

I also saw some HUGE ENSEMBLES dropping the children off. It was all a bit much. Just too DD1 in myself, DH stayed in the car. And when I asked her if she wanted me to stay for 5 minutes she just breezed off saying "No, I'll be fine Mummy". Personally I think the less fuss the better at times like these - otherwise it all becomes a big deal.

Tomorrow she'll get the school bus as we live in the sticks - am looking forward to that being done once. Then, next week I'll be settling number 2 into the nursery.

brokenspacebar · 17/08/2009 15:00

I agree on not making a fuss, but I am not wanting to make it a big deal in case it makes my ds anxious.

Well done to all of you who held back the tears, I am impressed! I just got back from school, picking up uniform order(ordered it on the induction day but she doesn't give it out until today), receptionist took forever, she is on a power trip grrr. DS saw his nursery teacher and 1 to 1 and was okay with them, which was a relief...hoping it bodes well for tomorrow.

My dd (P4) is excited about having her wee brother at school with her, which is lovely.
