Caps44 what made you pick UCS over City?

SunshineMum3 · 04/02/2025 14:29

Many Congratulations for offers Caps44. If I can please ask do the schools call or email?

Caps44 · 04/02/2025 14:55

@SunshineMum3 Highgate called.

@JustNewt Both would have worked for our DS, just felt UCS would be more fun for him, especially facilities, sports etc...

Anyone heard from City waitlist yet?

Anyone heard from City waitlist yet?

I understand that phone calls started to go out yesterday, do chase, it makes a difference!

Does anyone know how waitlist works? We were told that some schools over offer and then have a waitlist so was wondering what the chances are? DS is on WL for DC

Caps44 · 04/02/2025 15:36

@user21071989 You need to be calling almost daily and make sure they know it's your number 1 school.

Would love to know your thoughts on UCS a bit more. We have an offer but commute could be tricky

DH in two minds to try again at 11+ where more options for schools with a bus or able to travel but hard to turn an offer down.

do you get any sense of the type of student, diversity, wealth levels the school attracts?

It seems like a fun, warm school but do you think they stretch and challenge the kids relative to the offers you turned down?

recent results seem to have been strong so wondering if the changes under the head are playing through now

MommyinLondon25 · 04/02/2025 16:14

We have declined Latymer & SHHS. Good luck to all of you.

Caps44 · 04/02/2025 16:14

@FlakyShark Everyone says it's nurturing school, but also academic. Highgate, City, UCS, Latymer, Habs...they are similar in terms of academics.
11+ is super competitive, I'm happy we are done with entrance exams!

@MommyinLondon25 What did you pick?

londonmum6 · 04/02/2025 16:54

@Caps44 thank you. Even for city calls have started? Gutted as we haven’t received any. I have however dropped emails to chase up. They don’t pickup calls.

We have picked City. How about you?

ekatmeerkat · 04/02/2025 17:11

Do you know if WL move a month or two after acceptances? Ie do people change their mind between now and September after accepting?

wisdomdreamer · 04/02/2025 17:25

@Caps44 congratulations! UCS is a great school!

My DN is still waiting to hear about Highgate RL:(

@ekatmeerkat from experience, WL can move anytime before September. However, its very likely the school will start phoning candidates either before the summer holidays or after (so just days before the school start)s as the school admin is off for summer break, Of course, the likelihood of getting a place of WL is the highest the day after the acceptance deadline as people tend to hold on to the places till the last minute and then the chances of getting the places gradually reduce

We released an offer from City yesterday. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Caps44 · 04/02/2025 17:28

@NWmum2025 thank you. What are you choosing?

wisdomdreamer · 04/02/2025 17:32

My DN also released City, and there are a few candidates in her school who also released City offers so fingers crossed everyone who is waiting here gets the call before the end of this week!

FutureWestLondonMommy · 04/02/2025 17:39

We will probably release City as well - junior school too new for us.

JustNewt · 04/02/2025 17:51

What did you pick instead of city?

NWmum2025 · 04/02/2025 18:53

Caps44 · 04/02/2025 17:28

@NWmum2025 thank you. What are you choosing?

we decided to go for SHHS

Caps44 · 04/02/2025 19:12

Think there will be a lot of movement on City WL from tomorrow. Good luck all.

will they offer school tour to reserve list kids and parents like the offer holders? Also what will be the time limit to accept offers to reserve list? Does anyone know?

I don’t think so, and you won’t be given more than a day to pay the deposit.

Did you call Highgate a lot?
