So nervous for primary school offer!

Just wanting to feel less alone, I am losing sleep with worry about the primary school my DD will get a place at! We live 0.9 miles from our first choice school however they always have 2/3x the applicants than they offer places so I'm so worried we will just miss out by not living next door 😫

I don't think I've ever been this stressed. I'm a teacher and have a huge amount of anxiety at the start of every new term. I've got loads of work to do still before tomorrow, my year 11s still havent finished the content on the GCSE and exams start too soon, my son wants to go to the zoo this afternoon (we are members and it is only a short drive), and then this waiting for the email for primary school is just getting to me. I'm not expecting to get much sleep tonight. I will check the portal just after midnight and my emails. My friends all got their emails by the time they woke up on offer day so hopefully I'll know before getting to work in the morning. Fingers crossed everyone gets their first choice. I keep reminding myself that it is a low birth year. 🤞

I’m nervously waiting too 😩. My DD has two older brothers already in the school, but I know that’s still never a guarantee to secure her a place. I’m a bag of nerves. Literally don’t
know what I will do if she gets a place elsewhere. And she’s so settled in the nursery too and under the SENCO’s care. It would be an absolute blow for her if she had to leave that early years unit.

Weve juat been through Secondary offers for DD1 a few weeks ago. And it was not good. So I'm absolutely dreading this.

I work nights but our LA have said emails will go out during working hours. It's going to be a tense night shift.

We are in west London and should get a email tomorrow evening but will also check the portal tonight. We applied for a school that is often mentioned on mn but who knows what will happen. We live 300m away from the school but heard it's a low birth year so fingers crossed but also a school that is hard to get into.

We are in the same boat! So nervous! We lovely extremely close to our first choice so I'm hopeful we'll be okay but you just never know do you! I hope you all get the result you want!

I literally feel sick, my son is already there in year 1 but we're way out of catchment. His year was a low birth rate too, I think that's why we were lucky to get him in, from what I can see this year is even lower so crossing everything!

Counting the hours :-( I think it's a midnight portal update and 8am email here. Not planning to stay up but younger DD usually wakes around 1 so I'll have a look then.

My LA are rubbish. The portal gets locked down and you can only view on there once the emails have gone out. It was 10am before I got mine the other month for secondarys. I've no idea what way ours is going to go. There's no catchments round here. Our first choice is 1.1mile away and a single I take, our second is 1.9 and a single intake and our last choice is 1.5mile away and a 1.5 intake.

Really nervous too! We're moving counties next month, so put down mostly schools in the new location, but I'm sure we'll get a school by our current house and have to do a late application. Because moving house isn't stressful enough!

Does anyone know how the results come in, especially if you apply via email/form rather than the portal?

Does anyone know, because I missed the deadline to do it online (I didn’t know there was one and this is my first child!) so had to fill out the paper form and give it to the school. DS already attends the preschool. Will I receive an email at the same time or will it be later than everyone else?

It will vary area to area. Where I live paper applications find out up to 2 weeks later

Me! I feel all excited and nervous! I should be sleeping as I’ll probably be up throughout the night with my baby but I’m sat here with the dregs of a glass of wine refreshing the portal website.

I am up! I messed up our application and forgot to add the supporting information as to why we wanted our first choice so I am really worried! If we don't get it it's my fault!
