Anyone else nervously awaiting primary school offer day

Is anyone else nervously awaiting primary school offer day? My nearest school we are not in catchment for. Unfortunately, the catchment boundary is my back and side fence due to a wiggly catchment boundary.

The school we are in catchment for is 5 mins further walk away but doesn’t have a great reputation. I feel like my life is on hold until 19th April as I hope my DD gets into my preferred school. I’ve applied for DS to go to the nursery next to the school I would like to go to as I don’t want to be doing two different pick ups and drop offs in completely different locations each day!

Kent offers seem to be trickling through

We have been offered first choice

Holidaylover20 · 19/04/2022 14:55

Today is going sooooo slowly! I can't take all this waiting. Sad

Honestly!!

Like the seconds are taking minutes

Just so nervous my DS won't be taken in our first choice even though his older sis is there and the school is just opposite my house

Just still bloody nervous 😔

Cottoncandyycloudss · 19/04/2022 15:03

We got our second choice. Kind of gutted but so be it

AnnaSp567 · 19/04/2022 15:04

We got the email through at 4am (Cambridgeshire) and luckily got our first choice. I'd forgotten it was offer day today so it was a nice suprise!

Dcfabyty · 19/04/2022 15:06

Also hoping we get our first choice as eldest goes there. At the moment they are at two different school which is a pain in the ass

Same!

London borough and still no word. What does “this evening” mean? 6pm?

SurreyMumOfOne · 19/04/2022 15:26

Friends with older children said the Surrey/London website was update in previous years after 5pm and then emails arrived from 8pm.

Given the long weekend, surely this was all ready to go last week, so why do we have to wait all day!

FolkSongSweet · 19/04/2022 15:32

I heard somewhere (and I think has also been said on this thread?) that the delay for the pan-London area (inc Surrey?) is deliberate so parents have to wait until the next day to ring up and complain. Not sure why that makes any difference really. It’s annoying as my SIL in Yorkshire has found out and I’m desperate to know!

Eelicks · 19/04/2022 15:46

Got out 1st choice (yorkshire). Being nosy I checked the last distance offered for local schools and they're all much further than previous years and several are even all applications admitted. Think rumours about being a v low birth year must be right

CrapColdCoffee · 19/04/2022 15:56

@Eelicks might well be true, however my second choice school, 3 form entry always undersubscribed by 15-20 children is this year full! All 90 places taken!

FolkSongSweet · 19/04/2022 16:00

It’s not a rumour about it being a low birth year - it’s a fact - ONS publication is posted up thread.

But it’s obviously on a U.K. level so individual areas won’t necessarily be affected.

Dcfabyty · 19/04/2022 16:22

Last time they said 5 pm but we didn’t get the email until 8.07 pm

meditrina · 19/04/2022 16:48

They have thousands of emails to send, so yes it takes a while for them all to get sent.

It should be live on the system from 5pm (or extremely shortly thereafter - as soon as someone pushes the right button!)

SquirmOfEels · 19/04/2022 16:50

5pm, if you log in and check.

Emails start going out at 5pm, but it can take a while as there are so many to send!

hannsmum · 19/04/2022 17:02

Just logged in to check mine though I have not received an email yet

Surrey !

Thank God I got his first choice

Holidaylover20 · 19/04/2022 17:04

No email, but the offer is online (London) first choice offered. Can relax now!

Dcfabyty · 19/04/2022 17:15

We got our first choice Smile

chocolatepenguin · 19/04/2022 17:26

We got our 5th choice (never had high chance of getting our top 3, so not surprised). No email, but it's on the online portal. We're in Hackney, and our allocated school is in Camden, it has a good reputation but is undersubscribed due to lots of private options in the area.

FolkSongSweet · 19/04/2022 17:32

Wow @chocolatepenguin that’s rough - will you stay on the waiting list for closer schools?

We got our first choice - was very borderline so really relieved.

kirinm · 19/04/2022 17:32

We got our first choice (no email just the eadmissions website).

SnowingInApril · 19/04/2022 17:39

This London borough has now emailed. We got first choice. What a relief!
Good luck anyone else still waiting.

Rewritethestars1 · 19/04/2022 18:02

@Eelicks how did you find the info on distance offered? Il like to check for my nephew for next year. We got our first place but I had no doubt we would as we live on the street and gave siblings at the school

Somethingsnappy · 19/04/2022 18:09

We haven't heard anything yet. Anyone else still waiting? We're not in London either.

TurquoiseDress · 19/04/2022 18:23

Got primary school allocation for DC2 at the precisely 5pm today

Was logged into admissions account & realised it had updated with outcome

Then received notification email around 20mins later...acceptance email received about 17.05 as I immediately accepted the place offered Smile
