Anyone else nervously awaiting primary school offer day

Is anyone else nervously awaiting primary school offer day? My nearest school we are not in catchment for. Unfortunately, the catchment boundary is my back and side fence due to a wiggly catchment boundary.

The school we are in catchment for is 5 mins further walk away but doesn’t have a great reputation. I feel like my life is on hold until 19th April as I hope my DD gets into my preferred school. I’ve applied for DS to go to the nursery next to the school I would like to go to as I don’t want to be doing two different pick ups and drop offs in completely different locations each day!

West Midlands here website was down until after 7am found out online first at around 7.30 then got a confirmation email at 8. Luckily got our first choice - I hope those still waiting here soon 🤞🏻

Hear* 🤦🏻‍♀️

thejadedone · 19/04/2022 08:37

Still waiting....

berksandbeyond · 19/04/2022 08:39

That’s only a better system if your catchment school isn’t shit @littlebluetrain, as someone who grew up in Scotland, I now appreciate that we have more choice 🤷🏼‍♀️

BreadmanAndCake · 19/04/2022 08:42

Still waiting here - Telford and Wrekin. Desperately hoping for our first, but it's very unlikely as the school situation around here is dire.

FolkSongSweet · 19/04/2022 08:52

So annoying that we have to wait all day in London! I’ve been checking the portal anyway but nothing.

trombolese · 19/04/2022 08:53

Does anyone in Kent know if they’ve sent out emails before 4pm before? The wait is killing me 😂

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 19/04/2022 08:55

Got an email at 7.50 am. Kirklees.

(1st choice allocated).

Good luck everybody.

Witchesbelazy · 19/04/2022 08:56

I have spoken to them now they dont know why I have no offer email and they are trying to get another sent out will likely be 24 hours another day of just waiting for fuck sake

Emma4452 · 19/04/2022 08:57

Had an email at 7am this morning. We were told that we’d receive an email from 10am so assuming they’ve said that to stop everyone panicking and phoning up at 10 of people don’t hear straight away. Got my little boys 1st choice. Over the moon for him

Following this for an answer too!! The KCC website says after 4pm for emails and after 5pm if we want to check the portal! They seem to be backwards in updating the portal AFTER they send the emails...

It's torture!

We got first choice here. Not surprised as DD is in the school so he has a sibling there plus the school does it on distance as the crow flies, and we live a 6 minute walk away, so it was pretty much a done deal. Very happy though. Getting nervous now, DS just doesn't seem ready for proper school. He goes to preschool 5 days a week and loves it but I can't imagine him sitting nicely on the carpet and paying attention Grin

Congratulations to all those who got the school they wanted and good luck to those still waiting.

In previous years emails started coming out from late morning

I'm getting quite nervous as well. I can't believe my baby will be starting proper school in September! Shock
thejadedone · 19/04/2022 10:14

We got our first choice, but school was oversubscribed. Went to tiebreaker distance of 0.6.

MrsMAC1234 · 19/04/2022 10:18

Lancashire here, just had an email.
Got first choice as expected due to siblings in the school

Clairelucyr · 19/04/2022 10:19

I keep checking but nothing...it's a long day until 5 o'clock - my oldest goes to the school but we have moved and are a ten minutes drive away so have no idea if will get in, dreading possibly having them at different schools!

kirinm · 19/04/2022 10:20

London here so no news until this evening I don't think. I wasn't anxious about this at all - I have assumed we will get first choice due to proximity but I'm getting more worried now.

I'm still struggling with the idea of my still 3 year old going to school in 5 months time. She doesn't turn 4 until a day or two before school starts.

vitahelp · 19/04/2022 10:34

Greater Manchester here - logged on at 9am and accepted offer of first choice. Had a confirmation email to back this up.
I still haven't had the offer via email though but may not get one now I have accepted online.

It is a weird feeling isn't it. Mine only turns 4 late July so similar. I was an August child myself and was completely fine starting school (I was full time nursery from 3 months old though).
kirinm · 19/04/2022 10:50

@vitahelp it is! My DD has been in childcare / nursery since she was a year old so I know she is used to being around other children and she's confident so she should be okay. But, it just feels so early for her when other kids in her class will be turning 5 once they start.

I had thought about holding her back but that doesn't feel like the right thing to do either.

SnowingInApril · 19/04/2022 11:46

Still waiting. Double sigh.

vitahelp · 19/04/2022 11:53

@kirinm Mine is the same, she was 4 days a week from 1 year to 3 years, then has been 5 days a week since then. So I'm hoping that will help bridge the gap between her and others who might be older but haven't been in a childcare setting. She is quite tall for her age which may also help, when I was in primary I was the smallest in the class haha!

Me too. Is it just KCC and London boroughs waiting?
PaddlingLikeADuck · 19/04/2022 12:25

I had to apply for my son’s place in writing as opposed to doing it online and this means I’ve got to wait up to another 5 days to find out where he’s going!!!

Oh the torture! Sad
