3+ 4+ 5+ 7+ Support thread 2019

In previous years I have started these threads to help and support all those involved in the independent school admissions process.

I wasn't going to start one this year as I know I would not be able to check back on it as regularly as I would like, which then defeats the purpose of the thread.

However, after numerous positive PM's about the threads I think it would be a shame not to start one where at least the hand holding can continue. 🤝

There are many many people who have been through the process and 'live to tell the tale' . There are also other tutors I know who read this thread and it would be great if you all could help and support and share your ideas👏🏼

(Roll on 2019!) 😉

My daughter is @RunRunMum. I must say I can’t wait til this is all over at the end of Jan whether she gets an offer or not. Good luck to all!

RunRunMum · 06/01/2019 23:02

@timeofyear good luck to you! How many have you done and got ahead?

Timeofyear · 06/01/2019 23:08

Hi all. Just joined this group- really useful thanks

Just wondering if anyone knows anything g about St Albans 4+ . I really like the school and logistics work. My daughter is really shy and just wondering what type of stuff she may be asked.

Thanks

milkytea1 · 07/01/2019 18:49

Did anyone do Westminster today?

Jifey · 07/01/2019 20:07

DS sat WUS today. Said it was ok with a few tricky questions. Fingers crossed until Thursday.
How did it go for your DS @milkytea1?

milkytea1 · 07/01/2019 21:22

He never tells me anything!

Mumteacher1 · 08/01/2019 01:55

Having trouble with log in!! Thought I’d sorted this but obviously not!

Mumteacher1 · 08/01/2019 01:56

As someone up thread has said there is no further interviews at UCS. The two rounds are complete. The waiting game begins 🤞🏼

Mumteacher1 · 08/01/2019 02:00

St Albans 4+ is a little more relaxed then other schools mentioned on here. If your daughter is shy make sure you run through the process with her ahead of assessment day exactly what will happen, teachers will show you the classrooms, ask you do show them what you can do, mum/dad will wait outside.

I’m looking to apply for the 7+ at Habedashers girls next year. I have no idea what level my daughter should be at by them or what to expect

I’d really appreciate advice on what level maths and English is expected and also tips on preparation

Thank you very much

Sjain1234 · 09/01/2019 10:13

Has anyone heard from Habs boys yet for 7+?

coffeeincosta · 09/01/2019 10:16

@Sjain1234 email due this afternoon

not refreshing my email every 30 seconds, definitely not doing that at all

Sjain1234 · 09/01/2019 10:31

@coffeeincosta Absolutely not! Me neither :)

milkytea1 · 09/01/2019 12:56

@Sjain1234 I've cleared my email inbox, just had a heart attack when I looked up and there was one unread email to find something about our local neighbourhood watch.....I may not be fully concentrating on work!

skal · 09/01/2019 12:59

@milkytea1 - did your DS do both Habs and WUS? Good luck for tomorrow as well.

milkytea1 · 09/01/2019 13:02

Thanks @skal but no real hope for tomorrow, it was very much a punt!

Jifey · 09/01/2019 14:01

Oh I can definitely relate to that!

Sjain1234 · 09/01/2019 15:19

Just got an email from Habs. Good luck!

milkytea1 · 09/01/2019 15:23

Yes or no?

RunRunMum · 09/01/2019 16:00

Has anyone heard back from habs 4 + girls

Sjain1234 · 09/01/2019 16:25

Yes.

Sjain1234 · 09/01/2019 16:27

Does anyone have any ideas/experience on what the parent interview is about at Habs for 7+?

MummyAZTM · 09/01/2019 17:21

My daughter is about to turn 3; would like her to apply for 4 plus next January to Putney Hugh and Ken Prep. Her current nursery school is brilliant but doesn’t prepare specially for 4 plus; would like to get her private tutor for some ‘fun informal’ preparation. Wondering if anyone knows of any private Tutors in SW London area? Many thanks
