Is anyone else dying to find out which school they have been allocated?

This is for my PFB which makes it extra difficult for me :(

I can't talk about it in real life as it starts off as a nice casual conversation ending with some delusions of grandeur PFB nonsense Blush

Nothing here (London) - I'm guessing this evening. Crazy!

We've got into the closest school, hurrah!

Brew to all those who have had bad news, it really seems like such a lottery.

WhispersOfWickedness · 16/04/2015 06:33

I have been lurking on this thread for a few days and only just managed to reach the end! So I am a very late latecomer Blush
Really sorry for all those who haven't got their first choice, I really hope you end up with an outcome you are happy with by September Sad
Congratulations to those who got first choice Smile I am amongst you, just checked on my own council's website - they don't send letters or emails Confused

Twoplus3 · 16/04/2015 06:34

I know, it's not good. I was all geared up for having to appeal as I was that convinced my ds wouldn't get a place. What time do your emails come for your area?

Twoplus3 · 16/04/2015 06:35

Sorry, only just noticed you put 11am lol.

goandshowdaddy · 16/04/2015 06:40

Good news Twoplus3 Smile

duplodancer · 16/04/2015 06:47

Anyone know about West Sussex? Can't find any info about times on their website. Desperate to know!

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 16/04/2015 06:48

Apologies if this has already been said (just skimmed last few pages) but check your admissions website. I've not got an email yet, but it's on there.

TiedUpWithString · 16/04/2015 06:55

Phew! We got our first choice! The email came in at 0447!

Gileswithachainsaw · 16/04/2015 06:55

Great news tied Smile

NynaevesSister · 16/04/2015 06:56

GoAnd ShowDaddy what you do is accept the place you have got and then make sure your child is on the waiting list for preferred school. Next go over your application and make sure the council didn't make a mistake. If the criteria is siblings first, then distance, see if they didn't take into account your child's sibling status. If a mistake was made you have a good chance at appeal. Otherwise there isn't much chance if the school has 30 kids in the class.

Next look at when your child has to start school. You can defer starting until the term they turn 5, so for late born children this could be after Easter. This gives you more time to see if you can get a place on the waiting list.

Finally you should look at childcare options if you can't get into the school at least while you are on waiting lists. Is there before or after school at the older child's school? Childminders at the school who do the school run? Another parent who would do drop off and pick up for a little extra cash so you can drop your older child with them and pick up from theirs?

TiedUpWithString · 16/04/2015 06:57

So sorry for those who haven'the. Fingers crossed for second offers or appeals x

minibmw2010 · 16/04/2015 07:03

Oh Mrs Grimes, I'm sorry. But why did you only put one school? We were warned to use all 4 places it we were leaving ourselves open to being sent wherever the LA wanted Hmm

We got our second choice. A bit disappointing as our first is the better school but on the plus side our second is an OK school with an easier walk, closer to our house so positives alround.

minibmw2010 · 16/04/2015 07:10

Mrs Grimes, I'm sorry. That was unkind of me when you're probably feeling quite raw about it all. Hope you can get it resolved,

MTWTFSS · 16/04/2015 07:15

Purplepenguin555 · 16/04/2015 07:16

My email came through at 1:30am but logged onto the Essex admissions site it went into overload server went down and took forever to load but when I eventually saw it. Was my first choice !!!! I can't believe it still doesn't feel real we are out of catchment and our catchment school is half a mile away but not amazing school didn't like it when I looked round it. So happy I managed to get her in to the most lovely school ever yay !!!

Congratulations to all of you who got your 1st choice and sorry for all of you who didn't :( xx
