Is anyone else dying to find out which school they have been allocated?

This is for my PFB which makes it extra difficult for me :(

I can't talk about it in real life as it starts off as a nice casual conversation ending with some delusions of grandeur PFB nonsense Blush

Our school has a sibling policy and DD2 didn't get a place! Check your admissions info from the school - our school has:
looked after children,
church going in-catchment siblings,
in-catchment siblings,
church catchment children,
other catchment children, church out of catchment siblings,
other out of catchment sibling
then any other applicants.

Mask due to serious oversubscription at local school we have all been asked to provide proof of residence at out address and they check the voters register before allocating places. We have recently had a child removed from DD2's class as the council investigated a complaint of non residence at an address (grandparents house) and withdrew the place. Our school had 11 out of catchment siblings on the waiting list!

Also waiting nervously to hear about PFB's school allocation.

We live in a village with one primary school ,which is usually oversubscribed. Where we live is just about where the distance cut off usually lands - in the last few years we'd have been within the distance limit about 50% of the time.

Our school admission information also said that when a school's oversubscribed, parents are required to prove that the address they've given is valid, and that as part of that, the council will check information they've got on the electoral roll and council tax records.

Will you be happy with second Smile

MTWTFSS · 17/03/2015 20:00

Yes :) to be honest I'd be happy with all 3 choices... My big big fear is getting a school I haven't applied for :(

OP posts:
Gileswithachainsaw · 17/03/2015 20:06

That's what happened to is first time round. not only had I not applied fir it it was the worst school our town has.

MTWTFSS · 17/03/2015 20:07

What happened Giles?!? Did you attend the bad school?!?

OP posts:
Gileswithachainsaw · 17/03/2015 20:18

No. we got into a better school on further rounds of allocations. Thank god.

but now that only leaves a sibling link as we probably won't get in on distance as some miles away.

it'd been worth all the hassle of getting there for dd as it's a lovely school and she's really happy. The down side is the huge stress level re dd2.

MTWTFSS · 17/03/2015 20:21

God... Which religion is that with please?!? I'm Jewish but I'll try anything at this point :P

OP posts:
Gileswithachainsaw · 17/03/2015 20:25

I have no religion I guess I can pick every mystical being I like to pray to. ones gotta hear me right? Grin

I usually have shit luck so it's going to be interesting

MTWTFSS · 17/03/2015 20:29

Yep me. DD is my eldest so it's the first time we've had to do this nail biting tortuous application thing! I desperately want her to get our first choice. It's a small village school with a real emphasis on outside teaching and a fab SEN support system which is a really good fit for DD. Her second choice would be bearable with much teeth gritting and I know she would struggle more just because it's so much bigger. Third choice doesn't bear thinking about, it's huge and with her sensory issues would be a real nightmare for her. The nail biting stems from the fact that second choice is catchment and first choice isn't BUT it's undersubscribed so I'm furiously crossing fingers, toes and all other appendages.

Can someone explain the "second round of allocations" thing to me in really simple terms .... So we get allocations on 15th. If it's good we accept, if it's bad I know we can appeal but how does this second round of allocations fit into that?

Gileswithachainsaw · 17/03/2015 20:32

im truly fucked tbh.

I can't afford wrap around care and neither can I split myself in two. I have no idea how I can be in two places at once. I will literally not be able to take both of them.

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 17/03/2015 20:33

Oops sorry, 16th not 15th!
