Is anyone else dying to find out which school they have been allocated?

This is for my PFB which makes it extra difficult for me :(

I can't talk about it in real life as it starts off as a nice casual conversation ending with some delusions of grandeur PFB nonsense Blush

sometimes I wish that it was compulsory to fill all five choices, so people didn't put themselves in the situation that MrsGrimes has done. Although you'd still get people that would deliberately chose one top school then others miles and miles away thinking it would help them get their first preference. Maybe the county should automatically allocate the closest school as a sixth choice.

MTWTFSS · 16/04/2015 07:26

While waiting for results, we do need a new thread title... Suggestions please :)

DS has got our first choice school - online system updated just after midnight and emails came out at 7am.

Congratulations to all those who have received good news, good luck to all those still waiting and Flowers to all those who have not got what they hoped for.

For those of you with bad news, I truly recommend starting a new thread where the admissions experts, such as prh, admission and tiggy, can help and advise.

MTWTFSS · 16/04/2015 07:30

Congrats bunny :)

Why do Herts hear so late?!

foreverton · 16/04/2015 07:31

I only put one school too but in our case we were lucky.
I can understand why people put only one or use all preferences.

I went to hell and back last year with my ds's secondary admission.
We didn't get first choice, appealed, lost and have just removed him from second choice school due to severe bullying so although I'm happy that dd has her school sorted, I've still got the nightmare of re-applying/appealing etc.

I've been on both sides, it's a horrible feeling when your dc doesn't get the school you want, if you believe a mistake has been made then please fight.
We were in a lottery system and tried to make the best of a bad situation ( ds has AS) it Didn't work out for us but I know lots of dc who are doing well and are very happy at their second/third/fourth choices.

Will be rooting for you all x

Those who are struggling with the idea of 2 children at 2 different primary schools, it can be done. You just have to organise it. Use breakfast clubs if available or before or afterschool childcare. I had to use breakfast club for one child and afterschool childminder for the other for two years. It's tricky, and can be frustrating, but it can be done - even if it's just temporary.

Best of luck.

MTWTFSS · 16/04/2015 07:34

SeasideSunshine Not everyone can afford that option!

Congrats everyone that got what they desired!! EVA did you get into the one beginning with 'R' then?? Well done! I hear you have to be practically on the doorstep.

We got into the one beginning with 'C' - very happy as first choice!!!

Commiserations to any that aren't happy :(

AnnieLewis · 16/04/2015 07:36

MTWTFSS still nothing here too - I think it will literally be after 5 pm. Its going to be a bloody loooooooong day!

Commiserations to those who didn't get their choice school, I guess here starts the appeals etc.

I just want to know either way now! Am checking website obsessively. Has anyone else got the ParentComm app? The link is on the LA website but not sure I trust it to send me the alert!

fluffymouse · 16/04/2015 07:38

Still waiting here (London)

Anyone else in London?

SeasideSunshine · 16/04/2015 07:39

MTWTFSS I'm on benefits and it was a struggle, but I still had to do it. I didn't have much of a choice. Just saying it can be done. Some breakfast clubs are quite inexpensive, perhaps a friend or relative can help out (I didn't have this option as no family close by and most friends work or their dcs go to different schools).

sethcohen · 16/04/2015 07:44

I'm in London and the website says Thursday evening so it's going to be a long day. We could get one of three. It's nerve shredding!

RugBugs · 16/04/2015 07:46

First (and only preference) offered here thank goodness. School is expanding so they were expecting to offer places somewhere up to .7m rather than .4 (we're .2).

I only put one preference down because we are too far (by about half a mile) to get a place at DPs old school and there are no other schools I would willingly send DD to.

MrsGannicus · 16/04/2015 07:48

We're in Surrey (same admissions as London) and we won't get anything until this evening around 5pm.

Really sorry to hear from all of you who are disappointed. Good luck with your appeals.

Congratulations to all those who got what they wanted. What a relief!

gaahhnonicknamesleft · 16/04/2015 07:55

Duplo - last year west Sussex emails came throughout the morning. Mine was lunchtime-ish and it seemed that everyone else got their emails before me.

Good luck.

EatDessertFirst · 16/04/2015 07:57

Kent don't release emails till 4pm. Which sucks.

Massive congratulations to tgose who got their preferred choice. Fingers crossed for those that haven't heard yet.

3asAbird · 16/04/2015 07:58

Seaside I get what you mean but last year I had 2 schools 4 5mins apart opposite direction to each other neither in suburb I live by foot with toddler in nursery at 3rd location.wrap around care would have cost me 200 pounds a month for school never wished her to go to as not great.

Neither school on a good bus route.

No family nearby

No freinds at that school who could help out.

It's why we home educated and still are plus remain on waitlist I'm just glad nursery school let her stay on.

fluffymouse · 16/04/2015 08:01

Seth and Mrs its a real pity they make us wait so long! They must have had the allocations for a while now, why can't they just put us out if our misery.

I put all 6 choices down as I know what London is like, and it is better to get a rubbish school on your doorstep than a rubbish one miles away. I only like my first choice though. It is my nearest community school, but it is touch or go whether I will get a place Confused

SeasideSunshine/other MN users: Can we please stop this debate about financial situations now. This is a positive thread, so lets keep it friendly :)
