Prepping For Pandemic..... 11

Thread 11.

This prepping for a pandemic pack was posted one one of the previous threads, I thought I’d post for this thread as there’s more people joining the threads. I had a quick scan through the last couple of thread to find a list that’s been posted a few times but couldn’t find it. The pack seems a bit end of days in some parts buts it’s got some useful ideas.

Pandemic Preparedness Pack

The Emotional Prep thread started by @Neome might be worth a look for those of us feeling anxious as things ramp up.

Also attached a screenshot of a post on previous threads by @blackeyesusan (hope you don’t mind) with storage ideas for those of us living in smaller homes.

Crikey 60 infected for attending the same funeral.... And since when did Spain's figures spiral? www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/07/spanish-town-faces-police-lockdown-to-contain-coronavirus

Justmum89 · 07/03/2020 21:21

I see they have changed the way they are reporting the figures on the more localised breakdowns now which is a step in the right direction. They just need to be more up to date now. I dont understand how they can confirm the total number of cases daily but not where the confirmed cases are from? Surely it's a simple where do you live?

Readyme · 07/03/2020 21:26

@Puppycorn are you withdrawing or will it be an unauthorized absence? If it's an oversubscribed school I suspect you will face some tough opposition from head teacher and probably education welfare officers.

We already home school however we need to decide if DC is going to Sunday school tomorrow, it's a big church so loads of kids.

NatoPMT · 07/03/2020 21:29

Woah - 60 at one event!? I wonder how many super spreading patient zeros attended to cause that amount of infection!

I agree itsnotjustflu, I think shops will bear the brunt

It’s also worth remembering that Boris said the police could scale back to just public order and serious crime actually, so house breaking and that sort of crime might go up. Hopefully the amount of people at home would put them off

itsnotjustflu · 07/03/2020 21:35

@natopmt I'm just glad we don't live in a country that allows people to keep guns and other sorts of weapons at home. If the supermarkets can remain stocked we should be OK.

I know 60..... that's crazy!!!

ofwarren · 07/03/2020 21:36

Any idea of the alcohol content of that @sideorderofchips?.

Readyme · 07/03/2020 21:37

I imagine it wouldn't have to be many the fact that everyone would have spent a great deal of time shaking hands, hugging and kissing meant it was an ideal storm. I will be attending a funeral in the next two weeks whilst I'm usually confident about asserting my own personal boundaries it feels wrong to keep people at a distance at a funeral.

itsnotjustflu · 07/03/2020 21:37

@MoonlightMistletoe that report will only make Boris more determined to not shut schools

NatoPMT · 07/03/2020 21:43

Oh jeez - imagine. There’s enough knives on city streets, yeah, I’m back to locking my door and breathing into a paper bag

NatoPMT · 07/03/2020 21:44

Someone shook my hand today and before I knew it I’d done it 🤦‍♀️

But yes, emotional events mean lots of contact. But still...60!!

MoonlightMistletoe · 07/03/2020 21:47

@itsnotjustflu That's exactly what crossed my mind. 🙄

BlackeyedSusan · 07/03/2020 21:55

@ofwarren pmed you

VenetoResident · 07/03/2020 21:57

sideorderofchips · 07/03/2020 21:58

@ofwarren I'm pretty sure the boots one was over 60%

RhubarbTea · 07/03/2020 22:03

Boots gel is out of stock when you actually try and add to basket. It's also showing as in stock at ALL of my nearby boots branches which can't be right. So I think the site is just playing up.

permanentlyfrazzled1 · 07/03/2020 22:13

@Readyme same here. Girls have dance exam tomorrow so we won’t make it to church, but I’m meant to be on Sunday school duty next Sunday. I really don’t want to let the team down, they struggle for numbers already (we have around 800 people per service x 2 morning services, so Sunday school classes are huge) but, I’ve got to weigh up doing what’s right for us as a family with doing what’s right for my church family. 😩 I’m enjoying not racing out to multiple activities every day now we’re hibernating though, and the kids are coping well with it, too, despite the teens initially grumbling about being cut off from their friends.

Vaki · 07/03/2020 22:17

Son who works in a shop said there was zero and he means zero pasta on the shelf at his very large store and limited toilet rolls and cleaning supplies.

He said that they will be rationing customers from tomorrow, no more then 4 packs of pasta and no more then 3 of every cleaning product.

NatoPMT · 07/03/2020 22:18

Gosh Veneto

BlackeyedSusan · 07/03/2020 22:28

I have plenty of spaghetti but not so much fusilli which ds likes. They had some really big bags but they would not fit in the cupboard and were no cheaper than the Aldi ones.

Monday is my restocking day. It feels strange stocking up the fridge, almost like I don't want to use the stuff. No point watching it all go off though.

I need to write a list and make sure I get everything that is available at least.

Puppycorn · 07/03/2020 22:28

@itsnotjustflu @Readyme thank you for your inputs. Let’s see how this goes. I’m going to raise my concerns to the head teacher and make her understand that if less children come less risk the teachers have. Partly it’s upto the head teachers to close or open the school I think as there are valid local reasons and concerns.

mybrainhurtsalot · 07/03/2020 22:31

I had a grocery order today and the delivery person said the local store is completely sold out of toilet roll. My whole order arrived (though they subbed a different size of dettol product and hand wash).

Puppycorn · 07/03/2020 22:35

Are handwashing liquids soaps? Or is it necessary we need to buy proper soap ones than hand washes like carex etc? Does anyone know if at all there is a difference that we need to be aware of?

Kolo · 07/03/2020 22:35

@VenetoResident lockdown? Wish I could read Italian.
