Prepping For Pandemic..... 11

Thread 11.

This prepping for a pandemic pack was posted one one of the previous threads, I thought I’d post for this thread as there’s more people joining the threads. I had a quick scan through the last couple of thread to find a list that’s been posted a few times but couldn’t find it. The pack seems a bit end of days in some parts buts it’s got some useful ideas.

Pandemic Preparedness Pack

The Emotional Prep thread started by @Neome might be worth a look for those of us feeling anxious as things ramp up.

Also attached a screenshot of a post on previous threads by @blackeyesusan (hope you don’t mind) with storage ideas for those of us living in smaller homes.

@aliasname glad I’m not the only one defeated by the tv! Grin

The upstairs one I’m fine with, downstairs one I randomly stab buttons on 3 different remotes and hope something happens. Sometimes I admit defeat and retire to bed to watch tv.

I think this is really nice. I used to be a primary teacher and am considering signing up to the supply register to help cover shortages, or at least get ready to help other people’s children.

Does everyone have their animals up to date with anti flea and worming medications? Are you due to reorder? No one wants to deal with fleas at the best of times but during a pandemic would perhaps be the most inconvenient!

MissusMaker · 07/03/2020 18:34

A third death? I don't know the accuracy of this map - I got this link from this thread I think? But it is now showing a second death in/near Milton Keynes.

MoonlightMistletoe · 07/03/2020 18:34

Seeing posts like these are really pissing me off today.

@MyHipsDontLieUnfortunately
I just wanted to know whether a lot of preppers prepare generally for any sort of virus or whether is was specific to COVID-19.

@Legoandloldolls
95% 100g is 95g 75g is 71.25g
50% 100g is 50g 100g is 50g so 121.25g in 175g
This is 69% by weight

I know someone who works in a survival type shop and he says it's amazing how busy it has been this week with people buying security measures.., young women buying pocket knives, men buying crossbows and arrows! As part of my Prepping stash, I have a survival knife (but could never bring myself to use it to harm anyone... I think.) But I have recently purchased a door alarm which is like a door jamb to fit beneath your front door to stop people getting in and a spray (which is legal in U.K.) which sprays people's faces bright red as an identifiable mark. I am a single parent though so security figures highly in my preps.

Neome · 07/03/2020 18:39

You may be right to worry about seasonal flu Fantasiaa, are you in a high risk group or do you care for someone who is?

MoonlightMistletoe · 07/03/2020 18:41

@MissusMaker I think those two pin drops are the same death.

tryingtoprep · 07/03/2020 18:41

@MoonlightMistletoe It's a dangerous complacency and denial. There's only so much we can do. Some people just refuse to understand.

@Fantasiaa, well I have the flu vaccine but I'm generally a bulk buyer. Obviously I can't preempt this one as there isn't a vaccine.

Neome · 07/03/2020 18:46

Are you more worried about viruses Fantasiaa or about health issues generally?

MissusMaker · 07/03/2020 18:46

@MoonlightMistletoe yes I think you are right. At least now I know to take that map with a pinch of salt...

magicrainbowbeans · 07/03/2020 18:46

Yes fully unionised environment. So far I've just been hoping they aren't stupid enough and change their minds, but they were definitely still very blaze about it seems of last week. If they do go, then I will say something. Insane I would hope they would be classed as a serious risk to colleagues and those we work with.

Highlandyak · 07/03/2020 18:49

I prep as much as I practically can to try and cover a wide array of disruptions that could happen in my life power cut (generator, torches, candles etc) illness (easy homemade oven meals, first aid kit) etc etc Corona ranks high on potential disruptions because of other countries quarentining large areas b

Dennisreynoldsduster · 07/03/2020 18:49

I’m starting to get a bit twitchy about civil unrest. I read somewhere about people hiding their prep stash is anyone doing this?
It seems mad. But then so did the idea of there being no loo roll.

Mine is mainly under the stairs in the cupboard there and out in the ottoman storage bench in the conservatory, the conservatory isn’t particularly secure.
I’m undecided about moving it elsewhere around the house or wondering if that’s just my anxiety speaking as it’s flared up again today when I was feeling quite optimistic yesterday

TipseyTorvey · 07/03/2020 18:50

Goodness Effieray that is both interesting and worrying about the knives and arrows!! I haven't really prepped for home defence or hunting. Maybe I need to hunt out my old hockey stick, not that it would be much use if people were determined.

FourTeaFallOut · 07/03/2020 18:51

I have the flu vaccine every single year, I'm eligible under the NHS because I have brittle asthma. My younger children get the nasal spray, DH gets a private jab but my eldest won't have it but fortunately he has the immune system of legends.

MoonlightMistletoe · 07/03/2020 18:51

@MissusMaker If you press on the circles it has additional info that pops up. I think it's as good as were going to get for now.

Also I've read that the locations we are seeing on the gov site are one day behind ?

sideorderofchips · 07/03/2020 18:54

Mine is hidden in the bedroom in various places

Dennisreynoldsduster · 07/03/2020 18:54

We do have a new security system from simplisafe we need to hook up but I’m wondering if the third party monitoring will be much use if Boris is saying the police won’t be responding to low level crime

MoonlightMistletoe · 07/03/2020 18:55

@tryingtoprep I just want to scream but I am now sitting here thinking why is it making me feel so upset and angry? To be honest I've had to stay away from my phone for a few hours today as everything I'm reading is so negative (apart from this thread) making me feel really shitty!
