@NotJustACigar do you know what sort of time of day they were available? I'm imagining first thing.

NotJustACigar · 05/03/2020 07:14

This morning around 6am-ish, yesterday I noticed one was in stock around 10am but by the time I finished faffing about with the ready if my order it had gone out of stock again. This morning I managed to check out with these www.superdrug.com/Skin/Hand-Care/Hand-Gel/Superdrug-Sensitive-Antibacterial-Hand-Sanitiser-Gel-50ml/p/729266

Puppycorn · 05/03/2020 07:18

Sorry if it’s over prep but has anyone sorted their will? Dh and I haven’t even thought about it until today .. but thinking if it’s wise to do it now than regret later? Dh rolls his eyes at me saying it’s not like we are going to die (he is in his early 40’s and I’m in mid 30’s) at what age did you all sort your will, if you have done it already?

Puppycorn yes, I have. Mid-30's. I did 5 years ago when I had a major op. If I had a normal family who were responsible enough to look after the DC then I probably wouldn't have done anything. I don't, so I wanted our wishes about the DC written down with reasonings etc.

Gammeldragz · 05/03/2020 07:30

@Puppycorn I keep thinking about it, but we still don't have one. DH is 40 and I'm 34. Really should, as we have children, and I have been thinking about it for years. We have no assets really but we do of course have DCs to make arrangements for. I suppose I just don't really want to put in writing that they'd have to live with SIL...

Plantherd · 05/03/2020 07:36

Would love to see them take on volunteering roles in the NHS if Parliament closes for a while.....

preponderings · 05/03/2020 07:36

I suppose I just don't really want to put in writing that they'd have to live with SIL...

Have you spoken to your SIL about it and has she agreed?

preponderings · 05/03/2020 07:39

Grin Plantherd wonder if there's anyway to enforce that!

NatoPMT · 05/03/2020 07:42

Wills should be made as soon as you have assets or children

I’ve been sitting on making one fur 8 YEARS because mine will be so complicated - I also don’t know who I want to give my daughters guardianship to

I so could easily have died in that 8 years.

Parliament shutting down.... this should not be allowed. Im horrified by their blatancy I’m self preservation and screw the rest of us

No recess if this situation continues...... let alone early recess. Johnson wants paternity leave, he runs a country not a filing system!!!

NatoPMT · 05/03/2020 07:46

Bee dance - that is very specific advice that the help line have given you information on how to support your action

I would put that in writing with the time / date of call and supply to the head immediately

Puppycorn · 05/03/2020 08:00

@Gammeldragz @preponderings Dh is 42 and I’m 36 .. We have dd so arrangements should be done. We don’t have no assets either. DH parents are no more and SIL is horrible .. my parents are back in India. My sister lives in NZ but I have been thinking to do this for more than few years now as we both have low immunity and I have underlying conditions including diabetes. Any normal cold affects me severely so I’m very worried.

Puppycorn · 05/03/2020 08:03

How do we go about writing a will here in the U.K.? Can anyone advice? Mil who died last year had left a will in just a white paper and that was deemed valid back in India.

FuckThisWind · 05/03/2020 08:06

I made a will a few months ago. I was actually picked to be a tester of an online will company via MN. So I got it free. I'm late 40s. I remember Mum and Dsd doing theres in their 30s but that was largely to do with step children situation.

Keep Calm and Wash your Hands. FFS! Boris really does think he's fucking Churchill doesn't he?

Haven't managed to get on between 4pm yesterday and now, so not sure what I've missed but don't have the energy to catch up! Brew

Thanks to tips on this thread I managed to get some prepping done yesterday, better late than never eh? I now have a completely full tin cupboard, other staples such as rice, pasta, ingredients to make bread. A full fridge, drinks fridge, and 2x half freezers. Also re-stocked (but not panic bought!) loo rolls, soap, anti-bac spray, bleach etc from the small selection that was left in the shop. Been picking up paracetamol, asprin (needed for my pregnancy) and/or calpol each time I've been in a shop since Monday so that's coming along nicely too.

I raised my concerns with travelling to work on public transport with my manager. Explained I know pregnant women are not known to be at any more of a risk at the moment, but that this had notched up my anxiety big time. Asked if I could wfh (something we are allowed to do regularly) or be given access to a parking space so that I could drive in. Was basically told to suck it up and get on with public transport.

Was up half the night in a rage (about several things, not just this), but on the plus side of that, the bathroom and kitchen have been scrubbed to within an inch of their life and I'm about to start on the bedrooms!

Just wanted to thank everyone for the advice I've had on here so far.

Just thinking about food for DD if I’m ill and can’t cook; does anyone have ideas of food I could get in that she can make? She’s a young but sensible 7. I’ve impressed upon her not to use the kettle, hob, oven or microwave...could I show her how to use the toaster? I was thinking of buying in brioche, babybel, peperami, picnicky things she could get out of the fridge. Other ideas?

nannynick · 05/03/2020 08:11

@Puppycorn You could start with looking for a Will Writer who is a member of the Society of Will Writers: www.willwriters.com/listing/

Depending on complexity it could cost £150-£300 for a Will. If your situation is simple you and your partner/husband/wife could have Mirror Wills.

Avoid DIY Will Kits:

Effieray · 05/03/2020 08:14

You don't have to go through official channels in U.K. to write a will. You can write one yourself using legal wording available if you search online for it. For sake of ease, I purchased a "fill in the blanks" will kit from Amazon.

Effieray · 05/03/2020 08:17

I did ask a family friend who deals with Will writing to check it over afterwards and sign it as one of my witnesses.

The thing about parliament- 10,000 people have passes to parliament- that's a lot of people. Plus all the visitors from all round the world. If they close schools (up to say 1,200 people- primaries far less) it seems crazy to allow parliament to open as usual.

And the SNP MP who asked the question yesterday in PMQs was right- 650 people from all corners of the country gather in room with space for 450 people, and then go home to their constituencies, having breathed all over each other. That's a parliament full of potential super spreaders right there.

They won't make the decision to close parliament lightly. They may well be gearing up to reduce access- which is far more likely. So- eg allowing MPs & peers & security, but not MPs staff or other pass holders.

poshme · 05/03/2020 08:24

Did anyone see the report that Indian pharmaceuticals are having supply issues which might have knock on effect here? They mentioned paracetamol & progesterone in the article I read.
Might get my pill prescription early just in case.
