Anyone else sort of looking forward to the Zombie Apocalypse now? We can eat all the mean non-preppers. That is a joke in case any special snowflakes think I will actually eat them.

I'm naturally a bit of a prepper. I always bulk buy stuff in case we are broke or for some reason the shops close or we have snow or I am too ill to get out (dp would just go to lidl and come back with stuff out of the odd middle section and a bag of milky ways).

I think it goes back to the time I had to survive on £46 a week with two kids for 6 months and it was awful. Never again.

I'm not really bothered what it's called as long as we've got it. Maybe the bunker as has been suggested a few times might settle things down.

I think Preppers does make people think we are earnestly and seriously prepping for the zombie apocalypse, at least The Bunker would make it clear it's a bit tongue in cheek, a bit more "clubby" for people with an interest, like The Doghouse. But I know some Posters didn't want The Bunker for that very reason

I am really disappointed with the reaction to the board. It's out of the way, in Other Stuff, and frankly the comments about MH being flung about aren't something we should have to tolerate.

And I really don't want people to think it's about prep schools...

I didn't know the board was here and when I first saw a preppers thread, I too thought it was about fee paying schools.

Taking a mh insult as one, isn't helping those with mh conditions. Insulting someone for having a mh condition or any is disablist.

I love this new board. So far it has inspired me to clear out the cupboard under the stairs for spare food storage, read up on how to make a dakota fire pit and buy a new hot water bottle. I wanted to call the cupboard the 'zombie apocalypse' cupboard but my daughter thought this was way to scary - despite loving the Halloween disco full of zombies... anyway we've settled on winter survival store which is way more boring. I'd approve of a board name change to the bunker - although zombie apocalypse board has more of a ring to it!

I would be happy with a change to The Bunker. It has some history to it.

Oh and I started looking up coleman's fuel for my camping stove and got side tracked into whether panel wipe might be loads cheaper and the same - anyone know? don't want to cause a major explosion and kick start everyone's plans into operation....

We've long had fantasies about designing our own home & I'm trying to convince DH we need a store-room with a hidden entrance of some description so we can hide out in there & no-one will find us! He thinks I'm being ridiculous. When I win the lottery I'm going to build my own house my way, complete with several hidey holes & I won't tell him where any of them are.
