Medical abortion

Hi All,

I hope you are doing well. This is my first thread on here, so apologies if I make any errors.

I just wanted some support really. I am almost 7 weeks pregnant, despite using contraception. It was completely unplanned and has really concerned me, as I am going through some health issues at the moment.

Due to my health issues, I have decided to have a termination. It really upsets me as I didn't want to go down this route, but Im not well. Luckily, my husband is very supportive and says my health comes first.

I have opted for a medical termination. I've been in and out the hospital a lot the past few weeks and I wanted to do the termination at home. My mum is available to look after me when DH is at work and DS is at school.

I am planning to take the first pill on Tuesday after my appointment and the second lot of pills on Wednesday.

Could anyone advise me who has gone through this? How did you manage pain wise? What pain killers did you take and when?

Please don't tell me horror stories or make me feel guilty. Like I said, it's for medical reasons. I believe women should have the option to terminate if they are not in a position or ready to have a baby. Contraception can fail at any time.

Thank you for all your support. ❤

@AdoremoM no, for me it was once every 8 hours or so.
If you're changing so often, then to be on the safe side, I would call the provider you went with for peace of mind.

@abitscaredd I was really light headed.
I kept getting head rushes when standing up or cleaning.

But that was short lived and disappeared within a few days.

Just make sure you keep your blood sugar up.

Bpas don't seem to be bothered
As they said it's only when I soak 2 or more pads every 1-2hours for 2 hours

PazzyPaz · 07/04/2023 17:22

@AdoremoM thats positive at least.
If BPAS aren't worried, then it sounds like its normal.

Flowermama12 · 07/04/2023 20:35

@Mummy8908 I’m doing really well thank you, I’m glad you are too 💞

It’s been 7 days since my MA and my bleeding has been light the whole time but there’s always an increase when wiping if I go to the toilet. Tuesday and Thursday I noticed and increase in bleeding when I walked further than usual but when resting it’s light. I haven’t bled much today and it’s brown on pad but red when I wipe so I think it’s slowing down.

Im so nervous to test, the nurse at the hospital said to test after 2 weeks! So the 12th April for me. Most people test after 3 weeks with what I’ve read. My boobs no longer hurt so I’m hoping its a negative and there’s no complications that creep up 🤞🏼

Flowermama12 · 08/04/2023 10:21

Did anyone find their bleeding stopped and started?
i bled hardly anything on a pad yesterday, just blood when wiping and then this morning I’m bleeding again and passed a small clot.
It’s only been a week since my MA so guessing it’s normal but just wondered?

💞

Mummy8908 · 08/04/2023 11:19

@Flowermama12 I had that. Bleeding was a little, then increased yesterday and I've passes a small clot this morning. I hope you are ok.

I'm actually worried my medical abortion has not worked :( just a niggling feeling.

OP posts:
abitscaredd · 08/04/2023 11:47

@Mummy8908 me too! I don't know if I'm paranoid but my boobs still really hurt and I'm just worried it hasn't worked. The only reason why I have to think it has is just because my nausea is gone but apart from that I just feel like there's a still a chance it's still in there.

Why do you feel like yours hasn't worked?

Mummy8908 · 08/04/2023 12:14

@abitscaredd I've never had luck with this experience. I had a miscarriage years ago and had a D&C which left retained tissue. I then had the pills to take the tissue our. Honestly I have sore boobs too and nausea definitely gone as I am eating fine but I actually thought my medical termination wasnt that horrible. I bled and last clots plus I heard a plop in the toilet but I didn't look what it was and now wish I had. So many thoughts in my head. What if plop was the miso pills? Thankfully I approached both msi and npas (went with npas in the end as msi was taking ages) and have two packages of the pills. I've used one but tempted to do the process again to clear everything out, if anything is still in there.

@Mummy8908 Try and stay hopeful 🤞🏼💞 I didn’t think mine was bad either and didn’t bleed overly heavy other than the passing of the clots the day I took the second tablets. My boobs took about 6 days to stop hurting 😩 it did make me panic too.

hopefully we will both get negatives soon ❤️

abitscaredd · 08/04/2023 15:16

I agree, try and stay hopeful as the odds don't look that stacked up against us. Isn't one of the main indicators of failed MA the lack of bleeding?

I didn't hear or experience any plop but I just had a super painful MA, so couldn't really get up to really sit on the toilet - can't believe so many of you heard it!

Mummy8908 · 08/04/2023 15:38

@abitscaredd who knows maybe the plop I heard were the pills coming out?

Sensitive topic warning*

I'm sorry to worry you all. My hormones are everywhere. Plus my dh, who was supportive before said "I know you did this for your health but you have killed our baby". I understand dh is upset and of course he can be. But he said its my fault I'm in pain, bleeding and cramps.

I can't tell you how upset I am. I'm so devastated by his words and it really hurts. I'm with my mum and dad, took ds with me and told dh I need space as I've been through a very tough week and this is the last thing I need right now.

I've ordered take away and just trying to shut out negative words or thoughts from dh. I can't face anything that will give me emotional pain right now. I can't handle it.

I hope you are all well. ❤😘 Many apologies if I've hurt any one with my post. I believe termination is a right all women should have and I also believe there are times in all our lives where pregnancy can be distressing. Thus, the choice to end the pregnancy can well be the best solution rather than carry on. Unfortunately my dh does not see it that way, even though he supported me initially.

@Mummy8908 I’m so sorry your husband is being that way 🥺 this is a safe space to talk, never feel like you can’t say anything ❤️

It’s good you have supportive parents that are there for you. Sounds like space is what you need and a nice chilled night will be good for you💞 you will get though this and it will be ok.

PazzyPaz · 08/04/2023 20:46

@Mummy8908 abortion is a right, absolutely! We're all on this thread because we made that choice, all for different reasons.

I appreciate your husband is upset, however your health comes first!

Pregnancy really makes you quite vulnerable and as someone else pointed out, our bodies change a whole lot over such a short space of time.
You really need support when you're going through either the pregnancy or the termination. Both aren't easy and although you may feel like abortion is the right decision, it still takes it mental toll on you.

Your hormones are still very much all over the place and its hard to get back to normal.

I'm sorry you're going through this :(

Mummy8908 · 09/04/2023 17:45

@Flowermama12 and @PazzyPaz thank you for your support ladies, it means a lot

I just wanted to ask you all a question. My friend is about to do a medical termination too. She will take the 4 tablets vaginally and last 2 in her mouth. I took all 6 vaginally as I was vomiting so much I didn't want to risk it. Those who took the last 2 in the mouth, could you please explain how you did it? Sides of mouth or under tongue, and did the tablets dissolve fully or did you sip water while they were in your mouth?

Im sorry, odd question.

I hope you are all OK ❤ 💐

@Mummy8908 I'm so sorry you're going through this! Please don't feel guilty and take strength in knowing you made the best decision you could for yourself! Wishing you all the strength and luck in the world.

In terms of the MA, I just put the last two in my bottom gums. The info pack I got said to leave them there for half and hour while they dissolve, and don't have any food or drink whilst it's happening. After half an hour swallow the rest with water and you can drink and eat as normal. I was very dehydrated so it only dissolved a little but then just had the rest with water.

abitscaredd · 09/04/2023 19:25

Sorry, to clarify - I put one on each side of my gums inside the bottom of my mouth, as it between my gum and bottom lip quite near the chin? I hope you know what I mean and hope this helps

Flowermama12 · 10/04/2023 15:06

@Mummy8908 I put the last 2 under my tongue and then swallows what was left after 30 minutes. Hope your friends ok 💞

Im on day 10 now, passed a random clot this morning. Is that normal to pass clots now and again whilst bleeding? I also found I bleed more in the morning then it’s slow for the rest of the day, maybe it’s just blood from laying down over night, making it’s way out.

im still bleeding and I bleed more the more I walk but still only half a pad max. I’m due to test on Wednesday, so nervous. But physically feel like myself again 😊

Mummy8908 · 11/04/2023 15:16

@abitscaredd and @Flowermama12 thank you ladies, my friend put them under her tongue.

I wish you all the best @Flowermama12

I am so nervous to test too! I hope everyrginf goes smoothly.

My appetite is coming back and breasts don't hurt anymore thankfully.

I hope you are all doing OK, can't thank you enough for your support 💗

Thought I should drop this here for your thoughts.

Today makes it 1 week after my MA
Bleeding has been minimal with inky brown discharge .. haven't had the fear of an ectopic pregnancy due to my anxiety going to google to google all symptoms I had before I took the medications.
I had to to do a pregnancy test today and the result showed it's negative..
I'm worried because I read that it takes 3weeks to have a negative result after a MA .. am I lucky or something could be wrong ?

Mummy8908 · 11/04/2023 19:06

Wow I'm very pleased for you @AdoremoM I think it means your abortion was successful :) that's very good news in my opinion. I'm still bleeding, it's red but its very light.

Take it easy now, it's good news :). ❤

@AdoremoM that's really good! Sounds lucky to me.

Yesterday was a week for me too, but I did a test (just a regular one, not the one I was given to by the hospital) on Sunday and it was positive. I just told myself it's only been five days and I'm definitely still bleeding a little so I'm trying not to worry about it. But now I'm scared to take another one...

Mummy8908 · 12/04/2023 09:12

@AdoremoM I took one too (regular pregnancy test) and it was positive too :(. I was annoyed with myself because it is early but i was curious.

I'm sure it will be OK for us, they told me to test 3 weeks later so I need to be patient I guess...

I'm worrying as well.
