Tablets by post?

Hello - has anyone got experience please of taking the tablets by post? I just found out I’m pregnant, which is a totally shock. I don’t want to go through my GP and I don’t want to have a face to face appointment or scan. I think it would break my heart to see a baby on a scan, so I think the tablets by post make more sense. I’ve previously taken the MAP, so I’m trying to think of it similarly.

I’ve only had chance to Google Marie Stopes so far and that’s where I saw it as an option. Are there any other private clinics I should contact? Thank you

That is almost impossible @StormGrey at 5 + weeks you will most likely experience a heavy period with clots and some bleeding
You may see a stringy like substance or a slightly different colour small mass , that would be the sac .. we never recommend examining any products , just wrap your sanitary towel and sit on the toilet at the heaviest time
It will be ok Storm . Use your paracetamol ibuprofen and codeine if you need them
Don't underestimate a hot water bottle , a warm shower or a gentle walk
Sometimes having your DC around is a good idea as it keeps you focused on being the mum they know and expect , gives you distraction and focus
Before you know it , it will be over

Thank you @66babe

Appreciate your reassurance. I've actually just started bleeding. 27 hours since I took first tablet. Hadn't expected that. I've taken paracetamol. Planning to take the 4 tablets in the morning xx

@StormGrey and @sam433 I've been following this thread quietly as I've been going through the same thing. Hope you're both doing ok, I would just say that you made the right decision for you at the time; which was the best decision you could have made in the circumstances. 1 in 3 women have a termination before they are 45, that statistic helped me reconcile things so I hope you don't mind me repeating it here. One thing I will warn you about is the hormone dump that happens in the few days after the termination...no one told me about this, but I cried my eyes out for a few days...same as what happened after I gave birth but wasn't quite expecting it this time.

@sam433 that's tough, I've always very much my been pro choice but I've also never been in this situation before... it's completely different when it's your own decision, but I did make this decision very quickly and I feel at peace with it. I had 2 young children very close together and it has been tough on me mentally and physically.

Hope your ok this morning @sam433 x

66babe · 13/07/2021 06:28

Thinking of you @sam433
And anyone else going through this process
Keep focusing on the reason you made this choice
The family you already have , your mental health and well being , the future you wanted for yourself
You thought about finances , practicalities
DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP FOR DOING THE RIGHT THING FOR YOU

Please reach out to the Aftercare number with any concerns or the Counselling service if you need to talk

Thank you PP that is correct 1 in 3 women will go through this process
Life is shit sometimes , accidents happen , contraception fails , relationships change ..

Sending you all a hug 💐
Take care today @StormGrey

Morning - steady bleeding overnight with cramping. Don't ever get period cramps, so it's a strange feeling. Just about to take some codeine I had left over from a previous op and then take the 4 tablets.

Enjoyed lots of DC cuddles in bed when they woke up. Little one wants me to put Christmas decorations today lol. Big one just announced that they want to go swimming with sharks on our next holiday 😂 They're both wonderful. I love their awesome ideas and excitement about everything. You're right @66babe, being with my DC is a wonderful distraction through the physical and mental anguish xx

There truly isn't enough data to give any firm guarantee on a healthy pregnancy after Mife and or Miso
Which is why we tell you about it at Consultation and do not recommend continuing if treatment fails
It's not impossible , women have given birth to healthy babies but women have also given birth to babies with abnormalities that then have a lifetime of guilt that what ever challenges they face is down to them
Keep focused @sam433 you are so blessed with what you have
Please don't do this to yourself , it's so damaging and you don't want your lovely wee girls to see you upset ... take care lovely

@sam433 sorry you're struggling this morning. I went through Marie Stopes and they told me a number of times that I had to be sure before taking the first tablet as it was imperative that the whole process is completed. It didn't seem an option to continue after the first tablet xx

It's been 30 mins since taking the 4 tablets. Actually I put them between my gum and cheeks. Not sure when/what to expect now. I don't like the unknown 🙈

The cramping may be down to anxiety ... or the affect of the tablet
Take care lovely
Take things easy and keep talking to your DP
Be sure you are doing the right thing for you 💐

I wouldn't be able to give you a figure @sam433
It may not happen but I think the incidence of miscarriage in next 2 weeks is relatively high
You will have to wait and see
Please think about what you are eating/ drinking/ smoking/ rest/
Google up to date foods to avoid such as unpasteurised cheese etc , the advice changes regularly so I don't want to get it wrong

Book in with midwife ASAP , look out for signs of anaemia etc
Look after yourself 💐

Thanks @66babe for your advice today. I've snuggled in bed all day with a hot water bottle and drunk a lot of water.

The leaflet warned of a bad taste dissolving the tablets orally, but I didn't have any issue with that. I was very sick 60 mins after using the tablets, but that passed quickly.

I hadn't expected so much blood, but the very heavy flow passed quickly, some large clots. It wasn't as scary as I'd thought. Codeine helped a lot. The cramps and aches were probably 6/10 at worst and now just a dull back ache.

I'm feeling much better already, light headed and dizzy, but I think that's to be expected after the blood loss and low blood pressure. I think I'll get some iron tablets.

I'm very glad I had maternity pads. Normal ones wouldn't have worked. Also, I should have put some spare clothes in the bathroom in preparation, as the flow meant I needed to change after the first couple of hours.

Symptoms will start to dissipate daily and do your test when it's due
