Anyone due in August?

I am due my second baby boy on 18th August. Just went to midwife on Thurs and was told he is breech - panicking slightly, as I thought by this stage (34+ weeks) they pretty much stay in the same position! Midwife tells me there is plenty of time for him to turn, so fingers crossed!
Would hate to have to have c-section as I found giving birth to my first little boy naturally 16 months ago very painful, but the most rewarding and fantastic experience I have ever had.

Is it common to feel so bloody depressed when you are overdue?
Feeling really fed up today
I know it is going to happen, but the anticipation feels so draining at the moment...

Eva, why will they not let you have an induction?
It sounds like they were letting you have a go at VBAC but if you go over 2 weeks late they want to do another CS, why?

Sorry to be graphic, but have had a lot of clear, jelly-like discharge at different points today, and wondered if it could be a 'show'.
Had a show with ds1 after the first few contractions, but it was slightly bloody, and there wasn't as much of it. So don't know if this is the real thing or not.

Has anyone got any ideas?

i suppose you've gone to bed now neen - but it definitely sounds as if you've had a show - things are happening!

I'm sitting here at this ungodly hour because my contraction-like things woke me up and now I'm trying to work out if I'm in labour. I suppose if I don't know if I'm in labour I probably am not! Oh well, I'll finish my cocoa and go back to bed.

Funny being on mumsnet at 4.30am, definitely feel like I'm talking to myself!

WideWebWitch · 26/08/2003 05:38

How exciting PPH! I guess you're back in bed now which means you're not in labour. Either that or it was and you're in the middle of it! Anyway, good luck either way. Loved your ds's comment about your still being fat btw!

Eva3 · 26/08/2003 08:27

Neen99, that is right, the reason being that scar rupture is a risk as the drugs they give you when you get induced can have a very strong effect on the uterus/ muscles. The risk is incredibly low though and I think my OB is rather conservative...

princesspeahead · 26/08/2003 10:01

still here, still fat - false alarm.
so why were you up at 5.30am www??!

Katherine · 26/08/2003 11:18

Hello all - just wanted to perk you all up a bit. I felt really really glum when overdue - not because I was still pg but because of all the hassle that goes with it, increased check-ups, threats of induction etc. It really does get you down. Some days I was in tears thinking about it all. In the end when I was packed off to hospital with suspected pre-E I told myself I would just have to change my way of thinking and focus on having the baby in a positive way. Then things all worked out anyway. All my stress was for nothing!

Neen - I had small bits of jelly stuff for about a week before, BUT after my first sweep it started coming thick and fast and turned more snot-like! This continued for a couple of days until I had the "rough" sweep - after that it had blood steaks in it. But I never had shows with either of my other two so you could just start anyway.

PPP - Similar story. About a week before labour I woke up with contractions every 5 mins. They were quite strong and SO regular but not really painful. Got all excited but when I got up they stopped. Then after my sweep I had period like pains ALL day for about 36 hours. Again got all excited but they stopped. When I finally got proper contractions, even the early intermittent ones felt slightly different, more uncomfortable lower down and in my back. Still wasn't sure it was labour though.

Hang on it there guys - it will all be over soon and then you can join me on the August Babies thread.....

bunnyrabbit · 26/08/2003 11:20

Hey PPP,
The race is on. I'm due Friday and had some very strange pains in my lower abdomen all yesterday and into the night... no show but might be something....

I'll have to come on mumsnet when I'm up in the night in future. Didn't realise it was such a bustling hive of activity!!

Wonder what's going on with Myersthecat. Hope her absence is a good sign...

BR

WideWebWitch · 26/08/2003 11:21

Oh, shame it was a false alarm PPH. Ah well, you can't stay pregnant for ever! I woke at 4am because I fell asleep with ds at 8pm I suppose. So I've been feeling crap ever since and may have to sleep for a couple of hours now to make up for it. (dp is off work so is looking after ds)

princesspeahead · 26/08/2003 11:27

aha bunnyrabbit! on your marks, get set....
I'm planning to have it tonight, now that I've finally managed to connect the hoses to the bathroom taps to fill my birthing pool ...! kept thinking last night "I can't have it now, how stupid would that be to have hired a pool, put it up, but have no means of filling it?"

katherine - a whole WEEK of this? please, no! they were mostly in my lower abdomen, not really in my back and not radiating up at all, but still painful enough for me to get up and walk around. oh dear, I hope I don't do this for a week, I'll be knackered...

well we both have until sunday to produce so that we can join you on August babies, otherwise we'll have to start a new september babies thread...

motherinferior · 26/08/2003 12:28

Go for it, you two!

Principessa, sounds like action to me. How very exciting.

And where is Myers the sodding Cat??

Katherine · 26/08/2003 13:27

PPP - didn't mean to panic you - mine didn't carry on all week. I just had two episodes and they really weren't that uncomfortable. Just enough to get me thinking... maybe!

Whether or not you are actually in labour I think its a very good sign so take heart and get those pipes ready

bunnyrabbit · 26/08/2003 14:01

Been into town and had more strange pains.... anyone had sort of sharp pains coming up from your nether regions?

Baby bunny is moving like mad though and I heard the baby quietens down just before dday. Is this true you guys...Katherine, as yours was so recent do you remember the baby moving less? Did the baby move when you were having contractions??

Can't give birth yet, have no curtains in my bedroom and I haven't stopped since I left work. Bet as soon as I stop, the little so-and-so will make an appearance.

Think I might start a thread for Myersthecat....

BR

Eva3 · 26/08/2003 14:55

I've had period like pains that build up and die down since 8 this morning, they are getting a little more intense but can still walk around and do things...write on Mumsnet etc. Hope that this is not false alarm, at 11 days over am pretty fed up and don't want that C-s on Fri!

bunnyrabbit · 26/08/2003 15:14

Oooh Eva3, sounds like you're gonna beat me and PPH. Get scrubbing the floors!!

BR

princesspeahead · 26/08/2003 18:11

it is now a three-horse race. the bookies have Eva as an odds-on favourite, with bunny and princess neck and neck at 5-1....

mind you I'm sure Myers the Cat has won the race already from the silence coming from her PC!

Katherine · 26/08/2003 18:18

Oh I really hope Myersthecat has reached the finishing line

BR they always say the baby goes quieter so every time I had a quiet spell I got all excited. However at 3.30pm I was having monitoring at the hospital and I've never known the baby move so much - labout officially started at 7.30!

Can't say I noticed if the baby moved during the contractions - my mind was on other things - there was a thread on this a while ago though and I think the conclusion was that people often did feel it but it depends on the labour you are having as to whether you notice.

Eva - sounds really promising. Got everything crossed for you.

Spent the afternoon pushing DD1 (Awwwww) on a swing whilst breastfeeding. Reckon thats got to take some beating in the multi-tasking stakes

Go for it all of you....

Eva3 · 26/08/2003 18:55

ohhhh, don't want to disappoint anyone! The pains are still sporadic and only mildly painful. I never thought I'd want MORE pain but now I do!

Beccaroll · 26/08/2003 18:56

Add me to the race!!!

I was due on Saturday (23rd August)

Have had a few niggles off and on - including a couple of fairly strong niggles yesterday but not regular or anything.

I had my second session of reflexology this afternoon - had sex last night and the night before but really dont think I can face that again tonight LOL

What is everyones due dates?

Becca

I was due August 15th (!!)

codswallop · 26/08/2003 19:25

Just to butt in - I e mail PPH 70 times a day and have heard nothing all day................

Beccaroll · 26/08/2003 19:26

I know what you mean about wanting more pain!!!

Ive been willing myself into agony for days now - when I have a twinge I always get dissapointed that it doesnt hurt enough to make me think labour!

Beccaroll · 26/08/2003 19:27

ooohhh only just noticed that message codswollop - sounds like princesspeahead could be busy

Hope so!

motherinferior · 26/08/2003 19:32

How exciting! Don't suppose you feel like phoning her, do you coddy ?

princesspeahead · 26/08/2003 19:53

Hold your horses! I'm here! Still twinge-ing, but nothing exciting....
