Anyone due in August?

I am due my second baby boy on 18th August. Just went to midwife on Thurs and was told he is breech - panicking slightly, as I thought by this stage (34+ weeks) they pretty much stay in the same position! Midwife tells me there is plenty of time for him to turn, so fingers crossed!
Would hate to have to have c-section as I found giving birth to my first little boy naturally 16 months ago very painful, but the most rewarding and fantastic experience I have ever had.

Muscia - excellent. Just what we all need to hear so thank-you for sharing, you deserve a gold astar. And so does your little one.

Can't wait to be joining you but still no action here but now dtermined to enjoy the remander of my pg and stop moaning. That said thinking about rearranging the kitchen this afternoon.......

Musica,
Thanks for the post. You star!! This gives us all hope...so pleased it went as planned. Sounds like a beautiful healthy baby and worth the wait.

Actually felt my eyes welling up as I read. God I'm so emotional!!

Musica - it all sounds so wonderful, well done you! It's great to hear of a positive birth experience, and love the 'I don't know!' to everything. I remember that from my first pregnancy - the fact I was in labour was enough for me, and I didn't want to have to make any decisions about anything by that point.
I am officially due today, but no signs of it happening. Not sure I fancy labouring away in this heat anyway!
Katherine - race ya!

Wills · 06/08/2003 13:09

Musica, it made me extremely wistful it all sounded so great.

Frogling I know what you mean by being too hot to labour etc .

neen99 · 07/08/2003 21:57

Went to Midwife today, the babe is due a week on Monday, and she said the head is 4/5ths engaged?!
So could be any day now... just hope the hospital has had air-conditioning installed since I had ds1 last year!
I'm sure my waters are going tobreak first this time, sometimes when I'm walking it feels like his head is bouncing it's way lower and lower! A bit painful actually, and feels like I need to cross my legs to keep him comfortably 'in'!

OP posts:
Beccaroll · 08/08/2003 12:29

Neen99 - that is exactly how i feel - (the head bobbing down and causing pain) - I saw my midwife yesterday and the head was even further down than last time, she could only palpate 2/5 so does that make me 3/5 engaged?

Wills · 08/08/2003 18:23

Beccaroll - yes! Consultant confirmed my worst fears in terms of going overdue today. Because dd was late and because bump is so small its extremely likely that I'm going to go very overdue. So now I have a new date to count the hours till.... The end of the hot weather! They say 3 weeks, so thats 1 down 2 to go ! Honestly if I dont' find some energy from somewhere soon I'm not sure I'll be able to labour!

Katherine · 09/08/2003 12:22

I am now officially overdue. This is not fair. Why doesn't this little one want to come out?

Wills · 09/08/2003 17:18

Cos its too hot?

neen99 · 16/08/2003 09:51

How is everyone? I'm feeling really fed up this last couple of days - the waiting just gets to you doesn't it? I feel like I've been pregnant forever.
Keep getting loads of really strong BH's in the evening, and even though baby is supposed to be moving less because he is so cramped in there, it doesn't feel like it to me! Sometimes it feels like he is about to burst his way out via a (now very tender) spot under my ribcage!
At the hospital on Monday to discuss a date for induction

How are you Katherine? Still waiting?

OP posts:
Katherine · 16/08/2003 16:28

Hi Neen - yeah I'm still waiting too. DH organised a curry party last night and we even managed sex...... but still nothing. I've got really bad pain in my pelvis now. Feels like SPD but sure its just the head but can hardly walk now. So everyone has gone out and left me this afternoon. Maybe that will be enough to get things going. They'll all come back with the tea and I'll be sitting here with a baby. Ha! No I doubt it.

Starting to get really worried that its going to arrive at DSs birthday party on monday now which is what he told all his friends at school!

Oh well maybe one day I will give birth.....

musica · 16/08/2003 16:59

Katherine - when I was desperately trying to find new ways of getting babe to come, I read somewhere that whilst sex can work, the best position for encouraging labour is on your back with your legs on dp's shoulders.....try that when 40 weeks pregnant!

princesspeahead · 16/08/2003 21:03

There is NO WAY I'd get my legs onto DH's shoulders in my state. Unless I was actually standing on my head, that is. Which, less face it, isn't going to happen! And I'm only 38 weeks...
So I wonder what happened to Wills considering a week ago she was saying that the consultant felt she would be very late...!?
Hang on in there Katherine, it is bloody frustrating being late, but just use it as an excuse to have enormously long afternoon naps. Store some sleep for later!
Thank goodness its cooler.

bunnyrabbit · 16/08/2003 21:47

Baby bunny is sitting so low now I can't even get my knees up let alone my legs.... and it's not a very good position for helping indigestion!!!

But if I go past my EDD, I'll probably try anything.

Katherine, why not start something that would be a real pain to interrupt? Sod's law says as soon as you start doing something like that the little one is bound to want to make an appearance.

Well it's worth a try!! Start painting your nails now!

RJS · 17/08/2003 10:37

Hi, I'm due 26th August with my first. Quite chilled at the moment, mainly because I don't seem to have the energy to do anything at all any more - keep flaking out. Everyone's stopped phoning me, and you just know they're waiting for news...yeah, peace at last! Good luck to everyone else out there, and fingers crossed the temperature keeps dropping.

Katherine · 17/08/2003 17:03

Thanks all. Its just with my other two being early everyone has been treating me as if I'm overdue (including myself) for so long now even though I'm only officially 5 days - its feels like weeks.

Bunny Rabbit - its my DSs birthday party tomorrow afternoon. I am now dreading it. Guess we know when the baby will decide to come.

Feeling so irritable and grumpy though - Why is it that when I go to lie down DH thinks its his duty to wake me up and try to persuade me to come out somewhere, even though I can hardly walk. Then the children appear and end up jumping all over the bed for half an hour. I ended up shouting and he gets all confused as to why I'm being horrible! Still got things to buy for the party so spend ages trying to get him to go shopping but when he finally goes he only has 15 minutes before the shops shut and didn't check the list anyway so I'll still have to go shopping in the morning. As well as getting half the food ready (thankgod I'm sharing the party with another child). And he's going in to work tomorrow. Promised to be home in time for the party but I want him here to help me get ready. Aghhhhh. Men eh! But of course its me thats being unreasonable.

And I feel so menstrual today - but before you get all hopeful for me I've felt like this so many times already I'm just trying to ignore it.

Sorry just felt I needed to get all that off my chest........

Legs on the shoulders eh! Dislocated pelvis just what I need!

bunnyrabbit · 17/08/2003 18:12

Katherine,
You are intitled to feel miserable and grumpy! It is hot, you are overdue, and it's not your fault!!

Is there no one that could give you a hand? Can the other mum help more? Have you told her how you're feeling? What about giving the shopping list to a her of to a friend? You should not be getting yourself stressed at this stage...

Look on the bright side... if the baby comes tomorrow you won't have to clear up after the party!!

myersthecat · 17/08/2003 18:52

Know exactly what you mean Neen99.
Was due last Tues, and have had a head in my pelvis for the last month and a bit! Just so comfy .... not!

Still not sure what labour is going to be like, it's my first. Definitely convinced there's no space left in there. Got something dug in the top of my left leg, something in my left rib both front and back, and a foot installed just under my right rib! Bra's are uncomfy now and most of my maternity clothes just about fit round me!

And worst of all....my belly button popped out!!

Race ya to the labour ward......best duck wins!

Katherine · 18/08/2003 13:18

Thanks Bunnyrabbit. The other mum I'm sharing the party with is great. She took on all the labour intensive food like cakes, sandwitches, anything which needs preparing - I've just got things like crisps and grapes to do which don't need much effort. It was just a few last things I needed to buy. She offered to send out her DH during the party to pick up anything I couldn't manage so the pressure is off. But I managed to do it this morning anyway so we are all set now.

To be honest its not so much the preparation that bothers me. I'm more worried about my waters breaking in the ball pool! Or if its very quick which it is likley to be, then actually delivering there or on the way home. But most of all the children really want to be at the birth and I'd hate them to miss either the birth or the party just because their sibling decided to be difficult!

Oh well. Just got to cross my legs until 6pm now. Was convinced I was having contractions this morning - felt like medium period pains every 5 minues or so. Was just thinking "Great - get it all out of the way for this afternoon" when it stopped. This happened last week too. Oh well suppose its going to happen soon isn't it (just not before 6pm please!)

WideWebWitch · 18/08/2003 13:30

Oooh Katherine, waiting for your baby is like a roller coaster for us waiting for it here Hope he/she hangs on until after 6 then. That'll be some party piece if it does happen before

princesspeahead · 18/08/2003 13:36

katherine, we are all on tenterhooks. It is like a brilliant afternoon soap - "will she give birth in the middle of the party? or just as she nips around the corner for some grapes?"

I hope for your sake you have a lovely party, come home, get the children in bed, have a glass of wine, start your contractions by about 9pm and be in bed with the new one by midnight!
That's what I'll be willing you on to do, anyway....

Sorry to disappoint everyone but the ball pool is still dry!

neen99 · 19/08/2003 01:07

Now I am 'oficially overdue' as the baby didn't put in an appearance today, and it's now after midnight.
Every time I get a strong BH that feels a tiny bit painful I think 'this is it!' in excitement, and then 'oh sh*t, this is it...' in panic a minute later when the reality of what I'm about to go through sets in! And then it's all for nothing because I don't get any more for hours!
Ah well, it'll happen soon enough I guess...
