Anyone due in August?

I am due my second baby boy on 18th August. Just went to midwife on Thurs and was told he is breech - panicking slightly, as I thought by this stage (34+ weeks) they pretty much stay in the same position! Midwife tells me there is plenty of time for him to turn, so fingers crossed!
Would hate to have to have c-section as I found giving birth to my first little boy naturally 16 months ago very painful, but the most rewarding and fantastic experience I have ever had.

ooooh good luck !

WideWebWitch · 26/08/2003 21:16

Wow, more suspense! Good luck everyone. Shame we can't put money on it here

Wills · 26/08/2003 22:23

Good luck to all of you!

Eva3 · 26/08/2003 22:46

Beginning to border on real pain... going to try to sleep and see what happens.

bunnyrabbit · 26/08/2003 23:10

OOooh Eva, my money's on you!!

BR
PS baby has got hiccoughs!!

Eva3 · 26/08/2003 23:45

Can't sleep, baby bouncing about like mad... still no regular contractions though....

neen99 · 27/08/2003 07:28

Good luck to everyone!

Have managed to get the hospital to put off my induction from 10 days over (tomorrow-thurs) to 14 days over (mon) so I've got a bit more chance to go 'au naturel'.

Never thought I would be so jealous of other people's pain!

still here, slept like a log, NOTHING happening at all.
oh well.
hope you managed to sleep in the end Eva!

Eva3 · 27/08/2003 10:15

Slept maybe 20mins or so, woken up by a fox jumping off neighbours roof! HAd no idea nighttime could be so exciting.... have had quite painful contractions every 12-15mins, but since my shower 30mins ago they have GONE!!! AAGAGHHAA!

motherinferior · 27/08/2003 11:19

They'll be back. Oh please!!

Shall we assume that a little Myersthekitten is around?

bunnyrabbit · 27/08/2003 11:31

Must be... Myers hasn't been around since Saturday.

Eva, any more?

Phoned MW this morning to ask about strange shooting pains down below and she's pretty sure it's a sign. I have an MW appointment this pm so hoping things are on their way... will let you all know this evening.

Does this lower my odds??

princesspeahead · 27/08/2003 12:00

saw my midwife today who said that it is a new moon tonight, and in her experience labours during the new moon are always long painful and difficult and I should try not to give birth until Thursday.

so that should cheer us all up.

conversely labouring during a full moon is a doddle apparently, if anyone wants to wait a full fortnight??!

codswallop · 27/08/2003 12:10

bum thougt you might have given birth...midwife sounds crackers!!

Beccaroll · 27/08/2003 12:36

Well I think Im well and truly out of the race! You lot are all well ahead of me...

...been to the hospital today and made the appointment for the 14 day late induction - if I dont go naturally I have to go a week on Friday (Sep 5th)

They examined me and things arent great really position wise!! Baby has moved back up and gone from 2/5 to 4/5 - posterior position. My cervix is shut and long

Does anyone have any encouragement that I still may go into labour on my own even with this annoying position stopping things from progressing.

Also, any good ideas for getting the baby to move???? Im doing hands and kness where I can but to no avail!

A very miserable

Eva3 · 27/08/2003 12:45

A few sporadic ones but definite change for the worse.

Becca - they told me my cervix was posterior and closed a week ago, things can change rapidly in that area!

Am going in to see doctor now, I guess he'll attempt a sweep for the 3rd time, still hoping things will get going on their own to avoid c-s scheduled on Fri. Maybe I can postpone it again if things area happening at least. Maybe this baby wants to be a September baby...

Beccaroll · 27/08/2003 12:53

The doctor who examined me said she wouldnt even attempt a sweep as it was so closed....

....also I have no more appointments with anyone - midwife or hospital until the date of induction.

So no checks to see if baby is ok or anything, is this right?

Good Luck Eva, I hope whats happening is enough to delay the c section

Becca - can't remember if this is your first baby? If not then the baby may not move down until labour starts properly so don't worry. Also my DD2 () was 2/5 from 35 weeks and still 9 days over so don't read too much into the position. And Eva is right - things can change very quickly.

Can't wait for you guys to join me

princesspeahead · 27/08/2003 17:23

oh dear eva, best of luck. becca - I think they all pay too much attention to level of engagement etc - everyone and every labour is different. You've got 9 days for things to change! I think it is a good thing not to go in and be constantly prodded and inspected... spend the next days sleeping and relaxing and I'm sure things will happen on their own.

beginning to sound like my hippy midwife now....

princesspeahead · 27/08/2003 17:30

probably being very thick here, but are bunnyrabbit and beccaroll the same person?!

Eva3 · 27/08/2003 18:37

Sweep worked! Now contracting every 6 minutes... yaagh! Becca - in 7 days my cervix totally changed, it was even 2 cm dilated. All odds on me!?!

codswallop · 27/08/2003 18:57

Lol you lot and your cervixes!!

Beccaroll · 27/08/2003 19:00

Katherine - this is my second baby - thanks for your words v encouraging! I was just so despondant when I left because the doctor basically made me feel that i had no chance on my own and would be seeing me at 42 weeks to induce....

Princess pea head - nope Im just beccaroll not bunnyrabbit!

Eva - Wahey, well done Glad to hear things look like they are definitely happening - GOOD LUCK

Eva - go for it girl. Hope it all goes well for you, quick and painfree!!!!

Becca - I saw the consultant at 4.30pm supposedly to get the all-clear to be discharged for HB once pre-E had been ruled out. All he wanted to talk about was setting a date for induction. At 9.35pm Baby Bea arrived. One in the eye for the consultant eh! They are all pretty much the same. I felt desperate too but don't give up until you are addmitted. I was made to feel there was no hope and look at me

arnold · 27/08/2003 19:27

Eva3 -excellent news. Good luck. And to everyone else too.

princesspeahead · 27/08/2003 19:37

brilliant eva, will look out for your birth announcement in a couple of hours then! best of luck.....
