Hi everyone!

Well, I got my BFP on Friday morning and it is only just starting to sink in! According to my dates I am due 2nd Feb and I thought it would be nice to have a Feb babies thread, where we can all share our news/worries/excitement!

Cant wait to hear from you

Is anyone else suffering from a cough and a cold they can't take anything for? I didn't sleep much last night for the amount of coughing! I'm also ravenous all the time!

Honeywitch · 22/06/2010 17:01

Hi
jack - My partner is 50, (I'm 40) so fear not! Picasso also fathered healthy children in his 60s....

judyjiggles - arometherapy oils. I used to be a beauty editor and I did some exams in aromatherapy.

Pure aromatherapy oils are very, very concentrated, and should never be used neat on the skin in any case. Pure aromatherapy oils carry the medicinal properties of their plant and some of these are harmful to pregnancy. Pure citrus oils are bad for your skin in sunlight, so be careful here.
Use 2% essential oil to 98% carrier oil in preganacy. Avoid the following altogether, and I would just stick with lavender, neroli and chamomile for now.

â– Basil
â– Cedarwood
â– Cinnamon
â– Clary sage
â– Clove
â– Cypress
â– Fennel
â– Hyssop
â– Jasmine
â– Juniper
â– Lemongrass
â– Myrrh
â– Parsley
â– Pennyroyal
â– Pepperm int
â– Rosemary
â– Sweet marjoram
â– Thyme

Also, in the garden avoid rue like the plague - this is really dangerous for pregnant women, hence the name.

Nut oils - I believe current govt advice is that nuts are fine in pregnancy, so sweet almond etc is a great carrier.

judyjiggles · 22/06/2010 17:08

Hi Honeywitch - thanks that's really helpful. At the risk of sounding really stoopid - can pregnant women still burn essential oils in an oil burner? I mean is it just harmful if you use these oils on your skin?

Honeywitch · 22/06/2010 17:19

Yes, but avoid the ones on the list above. Rose, rose geranium, tea tree, citrus oils, chamomile, bergamot, lavendar are all fine for inhaling, and obviously you do use them neat in the burner water.
Hope that helps!

brockleyD · 22/06/2010 18:05

Hi Judyjiggles and tabbycat76, just to say I am due on the 18th Feb and have no symptoms so far at all! Not even sore boobs. Maybe I am more tired than normal but that is really it. I had a mc earlier this year so hoping its not a bad sign but loads of my friends had no symptoms at this stage, lots of people don't even realise they are pregnant till 8-10 weeks! We just live in this weird world where we find out we are pregnant up to a 6 days before our periods are even due and then have to wait 8-9 weeks for any reassurance that the baby is even alive!!! Its so hard!!!! Sorry to rant, I had my MC last time just before my 12 week scan and it felt like I had been waiting for years!!

Pebblestone · 22/06/2010 18:40

Hi,

So far I have felt pregnant every day but today nothing!!! It was nice to read through the posts and see that other people have no symptoms too. It's funny how neurotic I have become, reading so much into everything. This pregnancy thing is good for me though, I have been eating healthier than I ever have before and my husband is making sure I stick to it. Seeing him so happy makes me smile every time I think about it.

Hope all the GP appts and scans go well fellow mumsnet users

xkatyx · 22/06/2010 19:07

x

TallulahBelly14 · 22/06/2010 19:30

OK. I've been lurking for a few weeks now but it's about time to say hello! I think I'm about 7 weeks now (newdad75 is keeping track of all my information so I have to admit I'm not fully up to speed with dates ).

But I more wanted to say thank you all! It's been so good to keep up to date with all your symptoms, so that I know if I'm on track or not. So far, I've had no morning sickness at all, I'm just really tired all the time, and have super-sore boobs. And we have an appointment with my GP tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to feeling a bit more 'official' from then onwards.

I've also been eating healthily, but a lot, and may have put on a few pounds which I'm really trying to prevent. I want to wait for as long as possible before I tell work etc, so the later I'm showing the better.

On the stretchmark front, I've been using Bio-Oil since the first day I found out and have almost been through a whole bottle already, so I'll check out the cheaper shops soon - thanks tabbycat76.

But looking forward to growing with you all - it'll be so much more exciting to have a gang of us doing it at the same time!

banana87 · 22/06/2010 19:33

Hi ladies,

Back from my scan and unfortunately it wasn't good news so I am out. No hb at 7+3 and baby measuring 5-6 weeks (2mm). I know that my dates are not that far out based on when I got my pregnancy test, and will be seeing a consultant tomorrow to discuss and ERPC.

Best wishes to all you lovely ladies.

Every time I leave the thread for a day or so it takes soooo long to catch up again

But its great to see so many newbies joining our little group. February is going to be a very busy month indeed.

Also want to say a MASSIVE hello to TallulahBelly14 great to see that you've finally jumped in. With that in mind I've updated the stats again to put you in.

AmIGoingMad · 22/06/2010 20:42

Banana- I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't want to build hopes or anything but just don't understand why they're not scanning you again later to be sure- I had mine at what I thought was 6 wks and nothing- they told me it was too early cos I was really 5-6 weeks so they did me again at 10 days later (my dates I was 7+5 but turns out I was 6+5) and there was heartbeat.
Hope I'm not being insensitive at all- just seemed similar to what I was told originally but they handled it differently? Sorry if this doesn't help.
Thinking of you x

earlgreyismynectar · 22/06/2010 20:49

Hi everyone, wow we're busy! Congrats and welcome all newbies, look forward to getting to know you over the coming months!

Banana, so sorry to hear your news, all the very best, you'll be on another thread soon I'm sure. Take good care, we'll miss you, pop back if you have any news, it'd be great to hear from you.

I used Bio Oil in my last pregnancy from the 2nd trimester once I'd started showing and despite being HUGE didn't get a single stretch mark. I do rate it as a product and will use it again. I saw a 2 pack of the large size bottles in Costco for about £20, prob a lot cheaper than Boots. I think cheaper oil alternatives would be just as good mind you and I'd love to hear what others are using. I'll look into almond oil. As someone else said on here, I think stretch marks are down to genes but absolutely makes sense to slather ourselves in oil and bond with bump!

I'm in week 7 and feeling decidedly worse (all those of you worrying about being symptom free around 5-6 weeks, I did too!). I'm sooo tired, baby brain extreme, sore inflated boobs, huge bloated belly that makes me look much further on than I am! No MS but constant nausea that only eating helps (when I rarely feel like eating at all). I'm craving cold meats (I don't usually eat meat) and savoury stuff. Couldn't be more off chocolate which is a miracle for me. Off my beloved cups of tea, have herbals but haven't yet found a true alternative!

Great to hear all of your stories lovely ladies, look forward to more. Take care and here's to less MS and more sunshine! X

banana87 · 22/06/2010 20:56

AmIGoingMad there has been no growth in a week. And I had a positive pregnancy test on the 30th, if I was 3 weeks on the 30th I wouldn't have had a BFP...does that make sense? I have the option to come back in a week but given my previous scan plus today's scan I am sure that if I waited we are only delaying the inevitable and I will have to spend another week feeling pregnant when I am in fact not. I don't want to put a damper on things as I am sure all of you will go on to have lovely pregnancies. Unfortunately I know that I will not be joining you.

KnitterNotTwitter · 22/06/2010 21:13

banana I'm so sorry about your news. Fingers crossed for next time...

Banana so so sorry, what a horrible thing to happen. Hoping for all the best for the future for you though.

Feeling sick, tired, miserable and severely pissed off with my very unsympathetic DH. Don't remember him being this rubbish when I was pg with DD. He hasn't once got up with her in the morning SINCE SHE WAS BORN 15 MONTHS AGO, would be quite nice to stay in bed a bit longer In My Condition. Have been falling into bed when DD goes for her nap in the day, but still dragging myself around all afternoon. Yukkety yuk. Also have a nose which can smell things which don't actually have a smell . AND feel sick, which I didn't really have with DD. Oh poor me!!!

varicoseveined · 22/06/2010 21:23

Banana, so sorry to hear your sad news

Judyjiggles - with my DD I had no symptoms at all til 7-8 weeks, then it was MS til 16 weeks so try not to worry

MrsWhisk · 22/06/2010 21:31

hey all, went to docs this morning and had a crap time really, he did the test then just said it was negative, so I told him I had done 2 positive tests at home and we did another test which was then positive! ???? doc was rubbish more or less told me he thought it was all in my head! surely 3 positive tests and a lack of period is a small hint? felling fed up now

kateh1978 · 22/06/2010 21:45

Hi all..my edd is 10.2 by my dates. Feeling very very sick. So much worse than last time with my ds. Also shocking bad skin...again not so last time. V emotional too and also suffering terribly with constipation!! Do you know if I can take anything for that??

Azure78 · 22/06/2010 22:12

Hello everyone - congratulations on your pregnancies!! I've been to the Dr today - due date of 19th Feb.

Found out on Friday morning with a faint blue line on test. not convincing so did a digital clearblue that evening. Also positive, did one more on Saturday morning to be sure.

Found the trip to the Dr a bit of an anti climax... Funny questions too. Is my partner the father of the child etc?! Guess they've got to check!!

My symptoms are really sore boobs, growing bigger when they are already big enough (too big!). Also weeing all the time, and tiredness.

Interesting to hear that lots of you have midwife appts coming up, I was told today that nothing will happen now til 12 week scan. Time to be patient I guess

Sam2302 · 22/06/2010 22:37

Canoe yes we have the same DD. Definitely good to have someone at exactly the same place! Have you had any mid wife appts yet? I am waiting for a letter from the hospital so I can organise an appt. But moving house soon which adds to the stress and will have to transfer to a different hospital in a month or two.

Thanks to both you and GinaFB for the info on the supplements. Am not having any MS thankfully (just a bit queasy now and then) so going to stick to a healthy diet (managed 12 portions of fresh fruit and veg today - go me ) and the folic acid.

Can't wait to have my scan at 12 weeks so considering having a private one as am about 7 weeks now according to my calcs.

KnitterNotTwitter very impressed with your administration skills! Have updated your list for my age which is 29

Hello everyone
Managed to read all 32 pages, so finally can ask to join! It had been fantastic to read all your stories, although I am so sorry to hear the sad news from a few of you.
I am 31, this is my 1st pregnancy, and by dates I should be 5 weeks pregnant today. So EDD 21st Feb
Started trying on our wedding night, and hit the bullseye 1st time - so shocked - thought we would have months of trying!!
My first two tests were negative, but I waited and did an early morning one on saturday and with a digital Clear blue at 4.30 in the morning (couldn't sleep) and then waited 3 1/2 hours before waking my DH to tell him.
Unfortunately had to spend the weekend (and the whole of this week) on 12 hour long day shifts, so no celebrating til the weekend.
Symptoms - sore boobs, weird taste in my mouth, hungry all the time, constipated, and a few cramps. Oh and so tired I can hardly stand. Or form sentences. Or find words. Great when you are trying to talk to your boss.
Have to go to bed now. Really look forward to reading/posting more soon.
