Hi everyone!

Well, I got my BFP on Friday morning and it is only just starting to sink in! According to my dates I am due 2nd Feb and I thought it would be nice to have a Feb babies thread, where we can all share our news/worries/excitement!

Cant wait to hear from you

Rachel1979 · 21/06/2010 15:59

Thanks Deliaskis, glad to hear I'm not the only one! Will let you know how it goes tomorrow after the scan.

Tabbycat76 - have a look at mine and Deliaskis posts, hopefully will reassure you that others don't have many symptoms too! I'm sure we'll all be back in a few weeks moaning about morning sickness!

KnitterNotTwitter · 21/06/2010 15:59

I think it's normal to have symptom free days... I've had one day's MS, boobs no bigger and not sensitive but strong sense of smell, hungry and in the lst 5 days my belly seems HUGE!!!

It's just about being patient. No period means you're pregnant! Be thankful that you've got your mobility, aren't knackered and don't have huge puffy ankles.... all things that I'm sure we've got to look forward to...!

Diamondback · 21/06/2010 16:05

On the sickness front, I've found that drinking loads of water (or fruit juice when I feel dizzy, to get the blood sugar up) and alternating sugary sweets with salty snacks is keeping the worst of the sickness at bay - so far

KnitterNotTwitter · 21/06/2010 16:11

I'm drinking PINTS and PINTS of water every day... maybe that's why I've had no MS?

Literally i'll have 2 pints in the morning with breakfast, 2 or 3 litres at work and then another 2 or 3 pints in the evening.

If I don't I get a constant headache... And I like to think that I'm washing any nastyness out of my body ASAP and not letting it get to my baby...

When pregnant with DS1 I got told i had 'perfect wee' [smug emoticon]. The Midwife showed me the previous ladies wee - it was this dribble of brown evilness in the bottom of a specimin jar. Mine was a whole pot full of lovely goldenness. [even more smug emoticon]

judyjiggles · 21/06/2010 16:11

Hello

can I join you too?

I did a pregnancy test one week ago and it said I was 2-3 weeks pregnant. This is my first and I am absolutely terrified! The doctor reckoned from looking at a chart that my due date would be 20th Feb (although to me the maths doesn't quite seem to work - think they calculate it from the day of your last period or something....?)

Like a few of you don't want to tell anyone but already a couple of people have guessed - out at the weekend and suddenly not drinking and smoking......!

GinaFB · 21/06/2010 16:14

What KnitterNotTwitter said re symptons!!

I am also HUGE which is frustrating! I will be the size of a house by 40 weeks!!

GinaFB · 21/06/2010 16:15

KnitterNotTwitter me too re the water, side affect is that I live in the loo!!

GinaFB · 21/06/2010 16:16

Oh and Hello judyjiggles Congrats! love the name BTW!! x

Deliaskis · 21/06/2010 16:18

Congratulations judyjiggles, another first timer! I feel like a complete amateur at this but I'm just taking one step at a time!

It's a bit weird the way they work out your dates from your last period. It's because most people don't know exactly when they conceived (although I do!).

It's hard not telling anyone - I am pretty sure a few people at work have guessed based on my lack of tea drinking and sudden increase in appetite as well as extreme tiredness and needing the loo a lot. It can't be a secret forever, I am just not doing any kind of 'announcement' until I have had a scan.

Hope you're feeling OK.

D

judyjiggles · 21/06/2010 16:27

Thanks GinaB and Deliaskis. God are you getting symptoms already then? As its my first time I don't know what to expect either - my tits are really sore and I'm knackered - but then I'm often knackered so not sure if that's a symptom or not! Oh - and as GinaB knows from another thread I started I am constantly in tears and panicking

This site is amazing. I have never done this forum type stuff before but my god it's so reassuring that there are tons of other people out there in the same boat (although has anyone else noticed that wherever you look now there are pregnant women? weird!!!!)

GinaFB · 21/06/2010 16:36

judyjiggles I hadn't really done this before until I found I was pregnant last year and have found it a great source of information and support during the pregnancy(and especially during the dark times for mea earlier in this year)!!

We can be worriers together but its best to be as positive as possible! You will start getting symptons, mainly boobs and tiredness but don't panic if you don't get MS yet! Have you bought a book? You might find that it helps having something to read so its not all a surprise! I have quite a few books (as I'm an addict!) but can recommend What to Expect when you are expecting as a good hand book! It also has a website! www.whattoexpect.com

xxx

GinaFB · 21/06/2010 16:38

I of course meant to write "me" and not "mea"

judyjiggles · 21/06/2010 16:44

Thanks GinaB.

We did get a book although I'm not sure how detailed it is - its quite helpful although really plays down the emotional side of things! Will check out that website - thanks.

I don't want to go mad with books though - already looking online there's a lot of conflicting info and I just want to arm myself with the basics and try not to get caught up in too much detail - being a natural worrier I think I would drive myself insane!

So are you pregnant now? Did you have a baby last year too?

GinaFB · 21/06/2010 16:52

judyjiggles I am pregnant now due the 5th Feb!

Re previous pregnancy - My due date was actually the 23rd June (this Wed) but very sadly found out at the 20 week scan in Feb this year (the 5th ironically) that my DD had a severe case of Spina Bifida. We elected (rightly or wrongly please don't judge) to medically terminate the pregnancy as DD would have been a very poorly girl.

We were totally devastated and I relied a lot on a thread on MumsNet which helped me to hold things together.

I am now happily pregnant again, we conceived much more quickly than we thought I would and trying to stay as positive as possible about things!! Its hard though!!!

judyjiggles · 21/06/2010 16:59

Oh sh*t GinaB I'm very sorry to hear that (and I wouldn't dream of judging you for making such a hard decision).

But hooray you are pregnant again and so quickly too!

judyjiggles · 21/06/2010 17:02

Deliaskis how come you're not drinking tea? I'm drinking loads of de-caff and I reckon it tastes exactly the same! And wasn't there some study this week saying drinking lots of tea without milk (whether caff or de-caff) is really good for your heart? Mind you they say that about red wine - can't believe that's off the menu for the next nine months

GinaFB · 21/06/2010 17:04

judyjiggles DP and I are thrilled although we were astonished at how quickly it happened! It does mean that I am a total worrier though!

Oh and yes to your earlier post! Pregnant women are everywhere!!!

suzym1984 · 21/06/2010 17:12

Hi ladies!

Well my ms is still lurking around, i hardly ever puke, but feel sick CONSTANTLY, and light headed too. It is making work a nightmare and I really struggled today.

Re extreme hunger.....I too get starving v quickly, so much so that I get stomach pains and have to eat there and then! V inconvenient when I am at work, as I never ususally snack.

I too am drinking loads of water, at least 3 litres a day, prob much more. Yet my wee is v yellow still and seems to smell sweet...should I be worried?

Other symptoms are just feeling tired, yet not being able to sleep, stuffy nose, weeing loads and huge boobs!

OP posts:
judyjiggles · 21/06/2010 17:28

I'm not surprised you're weeing loads if you're drinking that much water!!!!

how long have you had ms for?

A concern that maybe one of you might be able to offer some advice on?

My husband is 40 and concerned that his age may have negative effects on our baby being healthy, I cant really find anything online about fathers age having anything to do with complications but would like some reassurance if possible?

cler · 21/06/2010 18:36

I had a scan today and it was really good seeing the little babys heart beating away. They saw a blled on the scan to which i dont know what thats about but they said not to worry. I feel so tired all the time and cant stop eating. I need to start eating healthier because ive recently lost nearly 7 stone and dont want to put all the weight back on. I hope everyone is feeling well.x

Pebblestone · 21/06/2010 19:08

Hi all,

It is so lovely reading through the posts and seeing that people have taken such care to respond personally to people. I was thinking who do you choose to reply to? What do you say? Then I read the post from tabbycat76 about crying everytime you tell anyone or with me even think about telling anyone and it all made sense I have just had another tearful moment with my DH worrying about the big question of to tell work or not? as I am about to start a new job. There is no right answer but I know that I will be much happier when I make a decision about what to do. Apart from being emotional I haven't had much sickness yet just a queezy feeling for a while but I think that may have been linked to the shock of finding out. I have also had a bit of constipation, anyone else? I am off work this week so I am loving my afternoon naps, I don't know how I will cope next week when I go back to work!

judyjiggles · 21/06/2010 19:09

Hi Jackinthebump I have never heard anything to suggest a man of 40 would have a negative impact on how healthy the baby is! Didn't Charlie Chaplin impregnate someone when he was in his eighties?

My partner is 39 and our only concern was cos we're in our late 30s whether we would be able to conceive (as quickly) but I think once the egg's fertilised its down to the woman's body rather than the man? Not sure but this is what I think.

Is anyone experiencing lower back pain - like a sort of 'periody' feeling - and is this normal?

Cler don't worry about putting on some weight - you can lose it all after the baby's born and congrats on your scan!

jackinthebump · 21/06/2010 19:33

Hi Judyjiggles

Thanks for that, I thought much the same, I think he will just be a bit concerned until we have the first scan and get a general all is ok!

Out of interest, does anyone want to know the sex of their baby but their partners not want to know?!
