Hi everyone!

Well, I got my BFP on Friday morning and it is only just starting to sink in! According to my dates I am due 2nd Feb and I thought it would be nice to have a Feb babies thread, where we can all share our news/worries/excitement!

Cant wait to hear from you

Fantastic news gina and I bet so SO reassuring! Makes it all the more real now I bet eh?! Really happy that all is well!

BrownPaperandString · 15/06/2010 21:21

Is anyone else finding they are freezing cold unless they're in the blazing sunshine???

tadjennyp · 15/06/2010 21:30

yay, congratulations gina! That's just great for you!

mandy1978 · 15/06/2010 22:00

oooh can i please join you girls? first of all congratulations to my fellow februarys!!

i have had two positive tests now and am due on 6th Feb!!

i already have a little boy who is lmost 3 and we had almost given up trying but finally i am pregnant!!

a note to the worriers, it is normal but i spent what should have been a magical first pregnancy worrying that things would go wrong and i so regret that. this time i am going to enjoy every single second, you dont know what is around the corner but i am sure every pregnant woman thinks things couldnt possibly be ok for them. but majority of people have happy healthy pregnancies so lets agree to enjoy and live in the moment!

i am still going to the gym, rowing, running and cross trainer but have stopped weights and tummy stuff. anything which makes my tummy contract is a no go. will do some reserach tho!!

we are telling parents this weekend as my mum and dad are away at the moment. i cannot wait though, so excited!!!!

xxxx

Mandy1978 I hope you dont mind me asking, but why have you stopped doing weights? My midwife assured me it was fine, and I have continued with weight, but without upping the weight. Just hoping she hasnt given me rubbish info!

Also, I too have stopped tummy exercises.....is there an actual reason for this? I stopped cos it just didnt feel right some how!

Oh, and welcome and congrats!!

Morning all, hope no one is feeling too sicky today.

Wow, I can't believe how many February mums there are and I expect there will be even more! Congrats to mandy and kat

DD slept a lot better last night so I feel more refreshed today. No doubt I will hit the wall later on, I might take her out on her new trike so she's tired enough to have a nap

angels1 · 16/06/2010 09:16

I heard somewhere the term 'world cup babies' as if lots of children get conceived around the time of the world cup (which I can only think might be due to drunken sex after the excitement of England winning/to console a lose!) so I guess there could be a big increase suddenly in the next month or so of pregnant women in general/here...which thinking it through could mean that labour wards/midwive etc appointments might be busier than usual..but I guess they're used to this kind of thing...and hopefully we're just a bit too early to be stuck in a labour ward full of fottie fans 9 months after the world cup! I don't think they'll be jumping to call their children 'Robert' after the butterfingers goalie in the last England match!

Deliaskis · 16/06/2010 09:32

Morning all,

Still not having many symptoms as such, no MS (which should be good, but it does make me worry that not enough is happening), but I do have a really strong sense of smell which is weird, H making toast this morning whilst I was still in bed, I woke up feeling like he had been shoving the toast up my nostrils, and colleague eating strawberries may has well have made me swim in a vat of them, the smell was that strong! And boobs are changing slightly too, so I know I do have symptoms, I just hope everything is OK.

Anyone with history of no MS and perfectly successful pregnancy please reassure me a bit - first time slight panicker here!

Hope all are well this morning.

D

GinaFB · 16/06/2010 09:49

Morning ladies how are you all this morning, hope that no one is suffering too much today with sickness? How are the travel sickness bands working out for the ladies that are using them? I am experiencing some nausea (mainly in the car) but no sickness (fingers crossed).

After my hormonal induced "moment" [embarrassed]yesterday I am feeling more comfortable. Seeing the bean's heart beat was so comforting. There is a long way to go but hopefully I will be able to last 6 weeks until the Nuchal Scan...

Congrats to all new ladies!

sloathy re your pain , I have aches in my neck/shoulders but I put that down to carrying around a heavy hand bag. Best to get it checked if it lasts too long, as you get bigger it could cause problems!

BrownPaperandString I am boiling hot and find the sunshine too much!! I think I read somewhere an old wives tale - cold = boy and hot = girl...... don't quote me though!!!

GinaFB · 16/06/2010 09:51

Deliaskis my SIL had no MS at all with her first DD and she was perfectly fine, second DD was so sick but again DD was perfect!!! x

moocowmrs · 16/06/2010 09:58

Morning

Deliaskis I have not had any morning sickness yet either, I don't recall having much if any with ds, #1 and all was fine then, had it with dd but feel fine this time round, so far in fact feel better than have done for a while ! maybe cause now preg bit happier relaxed don't know really ! Anyway knowing my luck i will get ms next week when very busy and then hols !
Was good to see from the list I am not the only one bonkers enough to be going for #3 or four ! feel a bit odd at the minute cause I think everyone believed are family was complete I think it is going to come as a big shock to some !

SemperEadem · 16/06/2010 10:01

Hi Ladies,

Its great to see so many more people joining us!

My sickness seems to have calmed down a bit but I have just gone off all sorts of foods I used to love. I just want potatoes (in any form) all of the time. I'm having to make a real effort at the moment to get my five a day as I just don't fancy anything. I'm a vegetarian so normally love chickpeas, fruit, veg etc but I just don't want them! The thought of them makes me want to barf!

Got my booking appointment through the post this morning for 5th July. That will make me 8+6. I'm hoping that gives them enought ime to arrange the scan? I lived ina different trust with DS1 and I had my scan before I even saw the midwife! Its all different.

Deliaskis · 16/06/2010 11:02

Thanks for reassurance GinaFB and moocowmrs, it helps me chill a bit!

D

MrsTeapot207 · 16/06/2010 11:45

GinaFB how wonderful! You must be overjoyed to see a tiny heartbeat! I'm seriously considering a private scan myself, as, like Deliaskis I've had no ms, and it's terrifying me! But nice to hear from both Gina and Moocowmrs that you're experiencing the same lack of symptoms. Dare I ask how much the scan cost, and how you found the company that did it? I've seen Baby Bond are national - are there any others?

Angels1 I'm glad we've cleared up the chocolate/caffeine issue. I'd better get myself some decaff coffee and tea as all I seem to stuff my face with at the moment is Marmite on toast, rice krispies and chocolate biscuits, washed down with a big cuppa! Awful really - so much for keeping fit and healthy!I think it's because I miss wine and gin so much that I'm substituting my treats?

xx

HazB2010 · 16/06/2010 11:51

Hello, I'm a bit cross right now. Had told some people at work that I'm pregnant (struggling to meet deadlines - I work at home - and wanted to tell them why), and had asked them to keep it confidential. This morning I've had loads of congratulations messages from colleagues. FAR from impressed! Has anyone else been 'outed'?
X

PinkElephant73 · 16/06/2010 12:11

HazB2010 how annoying! I have not been outed yet but have told a couple of friends after one guessed.

I have discovered a cure for morning sickness - Polo mints!

Dee36 · 16/06/2010 12:22

I know what you mean about potatoes SemperEadem that and fruit salad is kind of all I want to eat just now..

I've not got too many symptoms either (at 7+5 I think) just a heightened sense of smell - putting the bin out is a no no, a bit more tired than usual, very gassy stomach and the odd twinge in my boobs.

I also have super bad heartburn but that's because I've stopped taking prescription medication for a hiatus hernia so that's not unusual. Have also had definite twinges and stretching type feelings in my lower abdomen and what feels a bit like very mild period pains most days.

Also felt a couple of times on standing up like I've overstretched if that makes sense ?

GinaFB great news about the scan - must be such a relief. I'm definitely feeling a bit underwhelmed at the moment and not letting myself get too carried away. Going for a private scan with Babybond on Friday and all being well plan to tell parents and family this weekend. Hoping the scan might make it all seem a bit more real. Got my booking in appointment next Wed too.

MrsTeapot207 the cost of our scan is £90 for an early pregnancy scan and you can book online with Babybond. Not sure of other companies but if you do a google search I'm sure you might find others.

BrownPaperandString I am freezing too more often than not and have been for the last 3 weeks. Sleeping with a winter duvet an night and not even entertaining summery clothes !

Dee36 · 16/06/2010 12:25

oh and I meant to say how annoying HazB2010. We're going away for the weekend and staying with family who we plan to tell - but don't want to tell friends of theirs who are also staying as we don't know them very well. Bit of a dilemma but it helps that I'm not barfing every 5 mins. Just got to get around the not drinking..

angels1 · 16/06/2010 12:43

I'm getting a bit worried as sickness I'm sure not as bad as last time at this stage...is there any way I could be reducing it myself by relaxation/eating little and often etc? I'm sure it was worse at this time last time....then again, maybe I'm kidding myself and it's just waiting to strike in the next week!

mrsteapot I had to have an early scan as lst time had bleeding in week 7 and since it was over the new year etc, I would have had to wait over a week for an emergency scan at the hospital (!!).

I telephoned local private hospitals/medical clinics and they either offered it, or could tell me somewhere to try that did. The costs really varied between hospitals/depending on which consultant was working on that shift and how much he charged. I ended up getting an appointment the next day in a fertility clinic (they wernt' sure whether the professor woudl see me or not since it wasn't a pregnancy per se clinic!) and I think it cost about £75, but other places were quoting double that.

And just to warn you (as I didn't realise this) it was an internal scan where they stick the probe bit inside. I always thought they used the ones that sit on your tummy in pregnancy, but apparently this was better...I presume it gets closer to the action early on...
