Hi everyone!

Well, I got my BFP on Friday morning and it is only just starting to sink in! According to my dates I am due 2nd Feb and I thought it would be nice to have a Feb babies thread, where we can all share our news/worries/excitement!

Cant wait to hear from you

Tadjenny, that's brilliant news!

angels1 · 15/06/2010 08:37

Great news Tadjennyp

I've noticed that I can't get my words out properly..keep having vastly senior moments and forgetting how to string a sentence together (and I'm only 28!). This started happening nearly a week before my period was even due, and in the last few days has stretched to my typing - I have loads of reports to write and I think the right words and then keep typing, only to find when I read back what I've just written I seem to ahve just used completely different words to the ones I've been thinking and wanting to write and nothing makies sense - I' having to re-read everything about 3 times to make sure! Is this a symptom of pregnanay or am I just going mad? I've heard of baby brain in pg women...but didnt think it started this early!! Thank goodness my career isn't as a novelist or something!

hope all well with everyone

I keep dropping things and I've just been sick I feel pregnant now! I think I am more scared this time around than I was the first time around, how the heck am I going to cope being pregnant when I've got a 20 mo to look after?

angels1 baby brain is definitely real, but my mum assures me that it wears off just as the Alzheimer's is kicking in

PDR · 15/06/2010 09:54

Morning everyone!

Is it wrong that my jeans are a bit tight on the waist???!!!!!

I'm quite big anyway but since I've found out I'm pg, I've been eating really healthily so can't be that!

Have gone for leggings and a tunic today as really don't want to start with the maternity wear just yet...

PDR · 15/06/2010 09:57

sweetnitanitro - I am wondering how on earth I'm going to cope when I'm home alone with a newborn and a 2.8yr old to entertain! Luckily my DS goes to nursery 2-5 days a week and we plan to carry on with this through my maternity leave but I've still got to get him there in the morning!

GinaFB · 15/06/2010 10:12

Hello ladies and little beans! I have been away for the weekend and can't believe how much there is to catch up on!!!

banana87 I really hope that you are back on here once they have found the heartbeat. I will be thinking about you & keeping everything crossed. xxx

tadjennyp glad the test results were all good!!

Honeywitch I am very bloated and windy, my DP is frankly fed up already!!!

angels1 baby brain is very very real... my brain is MUSH, speaking a sentance can be a struggle some days!!

I have been feeling not too bad, some mild nausea this morning, very bloated and emotional, but other than that not too bad. I am hoping that everything is ok, that is my main worry at the moment. Terrified of MC or of getting to the 12 week scan and there being no heart beat.

Had a pack from the MW and I don't get booked in until 10 weeks. I was told that I would get extra care this time with scans etc but I can't see that I will get any earlier scans if I'm not even booked in until 10 weeks....

sweetnitanitro · 15/06/2010 10:14

PDR my plan is as follows- stick newborn in the the sling, carry on as normal but we'll see how that works out! I just hope I can get DD to sleep through the night in her own room so she doesn't feel usurped when the new baby shows up. I'm already feeling ridiculously guilty about her not having me to herself I've convinced myself that this is hormonal and that I'm not crazy. Definitely not.

smallblackflowers · 15/06/2010 11:13

I've got a 15mo and thank goodness that DH was not working today, as have been really poorly. Was actually sick. That never happened in my last pg, even though I did spend weeks feeling really sick. Feeling a bit better now, and nibbling on an apple.

Like you sweetnitanitro I plan to put my newborn in a sling. No double buggies for me thanks! Although the hours spent bf on the sofa will be fun with a 23 mo...

banana hope you are getting on ok. Thinking of you.

Lulabel27 · 15/06/2010 11:37

Hi SmallBlackFlowers and others - glad to read its not just me feeling sick! Had to go home from work yesterday and curled up in bed in between throwing up. The first time I've felt like this and is actually quite (sadistically) nice as at least I know I'm still pregnant if that makes sense!
First (dating) scan tomorrow at Chelsea&Westiminster so it will all feel much more real!

Banana I hope you're ok and that the next scan is more positive xx

PS: I've now lost 2lbs since being pregnant - anyone else losing weight and is this ok? I am eating when I can.

HazB2010 · 15/06/2010 12:03

lulabel my jeans fit better now than last month! Probably as I'm trying to eat more healthily, and not drinking beer! Then I have bloated days and look 6 months rather than 6 weeks pregnant, so may have to go shopping anyway...

Just been booked in, so feel part of the system. Gained a lot of forms and gave a lot of blood. Have managed to convince myself I've got everything going. Paranoia! Will get a 10-12 week scan, but will have to pay for a nuchal test if I want one of those. Seems to be a postcode lottery, so I'm a bit cross about that

Glad to hear baby brain is normal this early. Am sure I'm going to get sacked for stupidity!

suzym1984 · 15/06/2010 12:07

Hi

I have also just been 'booked in'......I am terrified of needles and had to give blood with my head in the sink in case i puked! Feel glad to be in the system.
I was offered the nuchal scan thing, in with the datig scan. V unfair that some have to pay.

I too have lost 2lbs! very weird as I am stuffing my face constantly to fight nausea!

girlafraid · 15/06/2010 12:51

I'm feeling very faint in the mornings, commuting in to London is horrible at this stage - I remember it from last time

I think I've probably got another few weeks before I feel better, at least when I can tell people at work they might cut me some slack!

KnitterNotTwitter · 15/06/2010 13:08

girlafraid me too - I've blacked out a few times which is a bit freaky - don't remember doing that last time. What seems to help is fresh air and not going on the tube!!!

DS has been grouchy for the last 2/3 days and I assumed he had more teeth coming. But then yesterday he suddenly came out in an all over rash. Quick trip to hospital for him and me. While I was there I mentioned that I was pregnant and that I'd had a 5 week scan because of the previous ectopic but that they only saw the sac and no baby so I'd been offered a 7 week scan but wasn't going to have it. The doctor treating my DS said that she thought the 7 week scan wasn't optional - whoops!!

So I'm going for another scan on Thursday morning. DH can't come which is sad but I'm really looking forward to it :-)

Lulabel27 · 15/06/2010 13:12

Hi Suzym1984 and HazB2010- so weird i never expected my clothes to fit better or lose weight but not complaining (though my Mum is tut-tutting at my happiness for losing weight!!)

What is a nuchal test? It does seem unfair that this entire process is a postcode lottery. I've read on here that i'm very lucky to be having a dating scan as some people have to pay for them too?

girlafraid commuting is the pits isn't it. Especially worse in the evening when its hot and i don't look pregnant so don't get a seat and I just want to get home!

PS: My DH has 2 children (8 and 11) so will give him a fathers day card signed DD, DS and prawn (our affectionate name for it at the moment!)

tabbycat76 · 15/06/2010 13:45

Well, I've booked in with my GP for next Monday at which point I'll be almost 6 weeks. No doubt by then I'll be head in bucket as the nausea has started to kick in a little. Trying to tell myself it's all pyschological at the moment but it's not really working, surprise surprise!!!

I too got weighed today and have lost, she told me my weight in stones and I thought, wow, I've not heard my weight in stone starting with the number 9 for YEARS!!! Ok so it's only a pound or two but heck, it's not quite what I was expecting to hear! Clothes no tighter yet so that's good.

For all you due on the 16th Feb, come tomorrow our lil nuggets (still waiting to hear if any others have named their bump) will be 2.5mm long!!! Amazing really!

HazB2010 · 15/06/2010 14:20

Hello, we've named it a prawn, too! Not very flattering, but...

Diamondback · 15/06/2010 14:24

Ours is called Karlfish at the mo (as it has a tail and flippers, apparently, and DH's name is Karl...)

I've lost 4 pounds since I got pregnant - I think mainly because I can't have beer or chocolate! - but then I had just put on about 10 pounds before I was preggers...

angels1 · 15/06/2010 14:49

can't have chocolate diamondback - is that through choice, or are we actually not allowed to have chocolate?

I get muddled over all the can/can'ts...but I thought chocolate was OK...I've just eaten a pot of chocolate soya yog, please don't tell me I've done something terrible...this is such a minefield!

Deliaskis · 15/06/2010 15:01

KnitterNotTwitter thanks for adding me to the list, I feel all spesh now !

I'm 32 and this is my first (so peeps should expect me to be a little dumb about this!).

Spoke to Drs this morning and she said due date will officially be Feb 10th until I get scanned at 13 weeks (this sounded late but she said unless there are any probs this is normal?). Really nice GP actually, I felt lovely after coming off the phone as she made me feel a little more relaxed and zen about it all.

Am still very excited though and also a little nervous about it all going wrong - this was literally our first month without contraception so I feel like it's all been too easy so far!

Fingers crossed for everyone that we all stay healthy and well xxx

MrsTeapot207 · 15/06/2010 15:35

What a lot of activity since Friday! It's taken me ages to catch up! Thinking of Banana - big hugs!

I'm so glad to hear all your stories. It's so reassuring! I'm still not feeling very pregnant - no nausea, and my boobs, having had a bit of a spurt initially, have now settled down too. Sometimes I feel weepy, or have some funny pressure in my tummy, but then, if I wasn't looking out for it, I'd probably say that was normal? I lost over a stone for our wedding in May, but put a pile on during our honeymoon indulging in cocktails and huge meals and lying around doing nothing, expecting to lose it when I got home, but that's not going to happen now!? So I'm feeling a bit podgy around the middle, and find tight waistbands make me feel achy by the end of the evening.

But I'm still convinced that the embryo has stopped developing, having had such sickness last time, and swing between complete denial to woeful depression about the matter. To read your experiences convinces me that I'm not alone, and that this is probably perfectly normal. Thank you everyone! My booking appointment is next Tuesday, so perhaps the mw will reassure me even more then.

On my more upbeat moments I consider that my 2 cats may have their noses put out of joint by the arrival of a small howling human into their serene little lives. I expect they'll adapt though. I'll have to keep them away from the bedrooms or they'll think the lovely, soft, snug moses basket was designed especially for them!

I was actually planning on doing some gardening this afternoon, and will wear some gloves and wash my hands afterwards for fear of cat poo. As a farmer's daughter I'm fairly relaxed about the animals in my life, but I won't be feeding any pet lambs for a bit, as Honeywitch recommmends...

Rusty it's nice to have another 40+ mum on the team - congratulations!

I've told my mum and my brother and a best friend so far. If I have another mc I'd need their shoulders to cry on, and they're thrilled for us.

Right - I'm off to see what I can do with a trowel, a tray of Sweet Peas and a couple of Hydrangeas!

Bye for now!

PS I've got Mr Teapot a Fathers' Day card already - and a little present. He'll love it!

sweetnitanitro · 15/06/2010 15:35

angels1 Chocolate has caffeine in but I think you'd have to eat loads of it to go over the recommended amount.

Food standards agency says 200mg of caffeine is the recommended limit which is four 50g bars of plain chocolate or eight 50g bars of milk chocolate. How on earth will I cut down to only 8 bars a day?!

angels1 · 15/06/2010 15:44

Right, so my chocolate soya yoghurt should be perfectly safe so long as I don't eat several multipacks...which would probably make anyone sick, not just those with morning sickness, thank you much sweetnitanitro

Mrs Teapot - I'm quite glad to hear you were really sick last time and not this. I was sick sick sick last time and have been experiencing it so far only on and off...not constant like before. Still early though, I'm hoping it doesn't get too uncontrollable...and you've given me hope

Hello again

Well my nausea has kicked in big time, pretty amazed at how I woke up yesterday at 5am and felt like I had been on a boat for days, utterly horrible and I seem to be sick between 7 and 9am.

In the up side, sipping flat coke and nibbling digestive biscuits so far slightly helping although water is not popular with my stomach!?!

DH bought me some of those sea band wrist things so will be giving those a try.

Also, have just downloaded a 59p iPhone app called Nevasic which apparently works to help balance something in the inner ear which causes nausea, I shall update In a couple of days as to whether it is any good. Any other tips that anyone might have much appreciated.

Wishing everyone well
