Hi everyone!

Well, I got my BFP on Friday morning and it is only just starting to sink in! According to my dates I am due 2nd Feb and I thought it would be nice to have a Feb babies thread, where we can all share our news/worries/excitement!

Cant wait to hear from you

newdad LOVE the spreadsheets!!

MissTFied · 08/06/2010 20:42

Very impressive charts, newdad. I didn't realise statistics could be so much fun!

smallblackflowers, I did a second test a few days ago and the line appeared instantly and was about 95% darker. It was just a Sainsbury's cheapy. Twins would freak dp out!

suzym I would just tell work you are going to the dentists/doctors. No need to go into detail. When you officially tell them, then you are allowed time off for antenatal appts (well that's how it works at mine).

MrsTeapot and most of the rest of you - please stop going on about your big boobies! Feeling quite inadequate! Re the pushchair thing, we got our Bugaboo Frog (original and best IMO) from ebay, and our double Mountain Buggy from here. Would never pay full price for one, especially when people keep them in such good condition.

And welcome new arrivals!

pipsicles · 08/06/2010 20:56

I had my first doctor's appointment today and have a lady doctor, which I am really pleased about (thought it would be a man, as it always has been in the past). She was really lovely and it was good to feel like this is all real! I have my booking appointment on the 29th, which feels like an age away at the moment!!!

So, with regards to a due date, because of my stupid cycle, she's put me down as LMP 6th April, which means my EDD is 12th January! Please don't kick me off the thread!!! She agrees with me that this is unlikely, but said it is better to have it down as too early, so my 12 week scan will prolly be at 8 weeks, will give me a new EDD and then another 12 week scan, which I'm pretty pleased about really. I'm really excited at the thought of being able to see the little thing so soon!

Speaking of which, do any of you have affectionate names for your unborns yet? Is it too soon to do that? DH suddenly realised that we actually have to choose a real name in nine months (we've been trying some on for size over the last few months, but now we know we have to actually make a real decision eventually!), but I said that surely it should have a name for now in the first instance? Anyone willing to share theirs?

DH kindly decided to empty the cat's litter tray this morning, about 5 mins before we were leaving for work. Perhaps not his best decision!!! Que immediate retching and nausea for the next two hours! That's the closest I've got to morning sickness so far and I've realised that maybe I don't want to be looking forward to it so much (not that I'm weird or anything, but morning sickness makes it real in my mind!)

Right, I should go and make that fruit salad I've been thinking about all day to top up my 5 a day!

earlgreyismynectar · 08/06/2010 21:03

Hi everyone! Welcome and congrats all newbies, this is daily now! So thrilled to be pregnant and to be here with you all :-)

suzym nice to know I'm not alone in the insanity of selling property just now! All the best with yours. I'm starting to get the boxes in ready to de-clutter! My poor mums house is becoming storage central!

banana87 I too am sleeping quite badly at the moment, I feel like I'm just on the surface of sleep a lot of the time and I'm having really vivid dreams (& I never remember my dreams!). Anyone else experiencing this?! I'm really glad for your happy story telling your sister banana!

smallblackflowers & knitternottwitter v impressed with your sewing and knitting skills! I'm involved in a "Stitch & Bitch" group but not that great (I am however a pro at scarves!!) fun though! My mum is an awesome knitter so DD is already spoilt, as will bump be but I really want to learn the skill too!

As for buying gear, I bought very little in the way of non essentials the last time as I felt I may tempt fate, plus I didn't know the sex till she was born. I'll be the same this time! I still have most of DDs baby things so they will be dusted down. MrsTeapot people are so generous and I'm sure there will be plenty of your friends goodies to raid! I am totally for 2nd hand (more so 2nd time around!). HazB I agree with all of the paraphanalia you DON'T need! Esp baby bath! I also managed very nicely to do without a changing table (changing mat on bed) & also baby walker & baby bouncer, I didn't have the space!!

mrs teapot amazed by your possible transfer of symptoms onto your bro!! I take it you're twins?!

GinaFB my midwives appt is booked for 16 July when I'll be 10 weeks. My surgery won't see you before 10 weeks. Is this standard NHS practice now? I picked up my pack today and queried at the reception whether I would likely get my scan booked for just 2 weeks later following my booking in appt. I was told that some women do (the sub text being some women don't!!). What's happened to the NHS? This is all so different to when I had my daughter in 2006! Back then you had your 12 week scan at 12 weeks!! I won't get my scan date till I'm 10 weeks now. Hey ho, seems to be par for the course...

I'm still blown up like a balloon here with mild nausea in the mornings but breakfast sorts that out. So 6 weeks is when it all kicks in huh? I'm in week 5 now... Applecharlotte I too am off coffee, I'd like one fresh coffee a day but can't face it now! I am however still loving my cups of tea! Bye for now! newdad I'll check out your spreadsheet!

debka · 08/06/2010 21:05

Thanks debs !!! I knew I could rely on you!
Hopefully it'll be in about 3 weeks - just need to wait for the phonecall.

How do I find newdads spreadsheets? I think I'm being an idiot, but can't work it out at all!

earlgreyismynectar · 08/06/2010 21:13

Pipsicles great news you're getting your scan early! How exciting! I think you'll be one of the 1st on this thread! My names at the mo for bubba (DD's unoriginal name when I was carrying her) are currently dependent on the size comparison which I'm getting on a pregnancy app, so baby has gone from poppy seed to apple seed to (currently) orange pip!! :-D

pipsicles · 08/06/2010 21:13

Congrats Bellaby !!! I was on the frolickers thread with you until Sunday - it's good to be joined so soon!

pipsicles · 08/06/2010 21:17

pips I was thinking of calling mine 'doo-dah'.

Bellaby · 08/06/2010 21:35

Hi pipsicles - good to see you here. I actually found out exactly 2 weeks ago but only yesterday found the courage to move to the graduates thread - are you on that as well?

If you want to see the charts you just click on newdad name above his last post. That takes you to a new window and you can see a link to his photos. Hope that makes sense

debka · 08/06/2010 21:37

Took me ages to work it out but you have to click on the name of the poster (in the blue strip above their post) then you can see their profile.

#2 is getting far less fanfare than #1- does this mean he/she will be better adjusted or neglected??!! No names, not really a great deal of belief either (poor little thing!). Like your orange pip though, earlgrey, which website do you get that from?

newdad75 · 08/06/2010 23:05

Hey guys, just got through reading all today's updates. Love that this thread is so active - I feel like I'm learning loads!

Also glad to not be the only ones going through the house purchase ordeal. We found out earlier today that our offer on a new house has been accepted. Hopefully it will all go through and the Lady can get on with "nesting" and we can finally say goodbye to our tiny London flat.

Glad you're enjoying the charts too by the way, though looks like there are quite a few updates needed from all the new joiners.

Any joy with getting your other halves to join yet, kinda feeling lonely being the only guy on here...

earlgreyismynectar · 08/06/2010 23:14

debka it's an app for the iPhone ( & Blackberry etc I suppose!) it's free and it's called "What to expect" from the book What to Expect When You're Expecting! It's really good with a weekly and daily tracker! You find it on the App Store

earlgreyismynectar · 08/06/2010 23:17

newdad good luck with the purchase going thru! Good to know I'm not alone with this! We're getting a house with a garden! Probably in suburbia but just what I need right now! Bye bye city centre flat (albeit on a very pretty street!)

Dee36 · 08/06/2010 23:19

sorry newdad DH is a complete technophobe so no chance here I'm afraid!!

gave in and booked an early scan today with Babybond for when I will be 8 weeks and will use that as the OK (hopefully) to tell parents, family and close friends we think.... liked your logic suzyM1984 for convincing DH but fortunately mine only took a little convincing

MW appointment is the tuesday after that so will be interesting what dates etc are and then who knows when NHS scan date will be.

earlgreyismynectar · 08/06/2010 23:27

Newdad loving the chart!
Dee36 good to hear about your 8 week scan, look forward to hearing about it! I might be tempted to do the same if NHS one is going to be delayed, I'll Google it...

banana87 · 09/06/2010 00:02

personmaker, I took 3 tests in total: 14DPO and had a v v faint line, then a digital at 15DPO with 'Pregnant 1-2' and then another at 16 DPO and the line was only slightly stronger. I then gave up in order to not panic myself. I read on the 'Pee on a stick' website, that it all depends on the concentration of your urine as EPT's depend on urine sample. Therefore, if you drink a lot of water, which dilutes your wee then the hormone is less likely to be very concentrated than if you were drinking lots of caffeine. It's also time of day, so FMU is stronger BUT should be 8-10 hours since you last wee'd. So try not to worry too much. Are the lines getting fainter or just not darker??

MissTFied · 09/06/2010 00:58

newdad75 I'd love dp to come on here too. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to drag him away from flippin' AVForums.

I'll even make it easy for him and set his name up. How does christnotagaindad72 sound?

girlafraid · 09/06/2010 08:00

Hi, can I join?
I think I am 6 weeks tomorrow with an EDD of 04 Feb

I have 1 DS of 16 months so there will be almost exactly 2 yrs between them - all being well

I cannot believe that I have a bit of a tummy already - all those muscles have just flopped.

girlafraid · 09/06/2010 08:01

Oh - and I'm 35!

applecharlotte · 09/06/2010 09:02

Morning,

I LOVE this thread. Last night lying in bed I had a really bad stabbing pain on my left hand side, low down. Kinda felt like I'd pulled a muscle. THEN I remembered suzym and earlgrey talking about something similar so I got up, fired up the laptop and read back through the thread.

Honestly, if I hadn't have done that I would have seriously started freaking out. I had another couple of twinges and this morning feel a bit tender down there - like things are stretching. I take it this is normal and nothing to worry about?

Welcome girlafraid and congrats. Two years is a perfect age gap you must be chuffed I've added you below.

Morning! Still over-excited and getting far fewer cramps/back pains so feeling quite chipper, all in all. Just looked at some chocolate and wanted to puke though, so definitely still pregnant...

DH is still very excited - I was reading him the MN article on weeks 5-8 and he's over the moon that it has a tail! And flippers!

Reading back through on the subject of exercise, I believe the medical advice is that if you have been regularly exercising before pregnancy, then go right ahead - so long as you're not playing contact sports or anything that's likely to result in a fall (I'm already trying to think of plausible excuses not to turn up to Roller Derby practice up till my 12 week scan... I may have to fake a limp!).

If you've not been a regular exerciser, then talk to your doctor and build up your fitness slowly. It is good as the fitter you are, the better equipped your body to deal with childbirth. I've got a great pregnancy fitness DVD - Complete Pregnancy Fitness with Erin O'Brien - but you can pretty much do whatever exercise you prefer for as long as you feel able.

Anyhoo, I'd better add myself to the list:

Morning all! How is everyone this morning!?

I feel like a WHALE, could be something to do with the fact that I am eating constantly as I feel so hungry all the time and weak and feeble if I don't. I had the shakes last night while I was doing dinner! Its hopeless!!

I am feeling pretty good other than constantly peeing and the odd pain in my hip. Has anyone experienced SPD? Can it start this early?

I saw the Drs over a week ago and haven't heard from the midwife, should I chase do you think?

newdad my DP said something along the lines of "not a chance" but I did try!!

earlgray My dreams are so vivid that I could be awake, its creepy! It does mean that after waking up several times to go to the loo in the night and the feeling that I've not slept I'm pretty exhausted!
