Hi everyone!

Well, I got my BFP on Friday morning and it is only just starting to sink in! According to my dates I am due 2nd Feb and I thought it would be nice to have a Feb babies thread, where we can all share our news/worries/excitement!

Cant wait to hear from you

Gosh, there are a lot of us now! Really enjoying reading about everyone's experiences and I agree that it's sooo comforting to hear that other people are having similar symptoms. I'd been having cramping and low backache and was really paranoid about it but am relieved to report that that's stopped. Now a week past my period due date so feeling very definitely pregnant. Not feeling sick much (but smells seem to really disgust me) so I'm trying to exercise plenty and that's making me feel good about things.
Did suffer for a while from it not feeling 'real' and I still feel in shock and really scared at times (mainly about never ever getting to read Grazia in the bath again!). But I am feeling really excited at times too.
On the subject of temporary baby names DH and I have been calling it 'the bean' which seems to do for now.

GinaFB · 09/06/2010 10:22

grumpling we are also using "bean" at the moment, last time we used "pippin" and that stuck!

HazB2010 · 09/06/2010 10:39

ginafb I saw the DR last week too...and have heard nothing. Will chase today - want appt dates, just don't want to annoy Team Midwife too much before giving birth ; )

Hey wonderful people

I'm at home today as I kept blacking out this morning after breakfast.... decided it probably wasn't wise to go into work I also feel weird - a bit nauseous and I'm salivating, but I don't think I'll actually be sick.... I didn't get any morning sickness with DS1 so this is all new to me! Perhaps it means this is a DD....?

I've updated the stats as some of the newbies hadn't been added...

Lulabel27 · 09/06/2010 11:12

Hi All
Everything still going well with not many symptoms though I have the opposite of constipation....

Got a call today about my dream job i've been interviewing for - they're going to offer it to me! I don't know what to do!! Sooo upset I feel I shouldn't take it as its not fair on them. But then its such early days anything could happen!
Anyone have any advice?!!

Thank you all
xx

KnitterNotTwitter · 09/06/2010 12:19

Lulabel27 I'd take it - then you'll have a lovely job to go back to after maternity leave - assuming you're going back obv. And don't worry about it not being fair on them - companies are rarely fair. Also who is to say that a job like that will ever come along again? Definitely take it

newdad love the graphs by the way I forgot to say earlier - sorry.

Has anyone else been feeling hot? I felt so clammy yesterday and I've been having hot and hectic dreams at night too. I'm sure it's my metabolic rate speeding up from the pregnancy...

linz17xxx · 09/06/2010 12:52

Hi, I found out on Friday that I am also pregnant however apart from feeling generally crap and tired I don't have any other symptoms which is worrying me, as I had a mc last year.

According to a due date calculator I am due on 10th Feb so I would love to join your group and hear your experiences x

Diamondback · 09/06/2010 13:22

Hi linz17xxx, I wouldn't worry too much. My last two pregnancies I had full-on symptoms straight away and both ended in early MC, while this one has shown far fewer symptoms and I feel like that's a good sign.

Some people (like my mum) throw up and feel terrible from the day after conception, but I know plenty of women who didn't even realise they were pregnant until 6-7 weeks in and have gone on to have lovely healthy babies.

GinaFB · 09/06/2010 14:04

KNT I am struggling with the heat, had a "moment" on Friday night in a resturant as it was too hot and no air con. I am having to stay very cool or I am getting very bad headaches.

Lulabel27 · 09/06/2010 14:18

Hi Knitternottwitter thanks for the advice and it is good advice! I think I should tell them before I sign on the dotted line - I think it would only cause bad feeling to join and then declare 2 weeks later that I'm pregnant! My fiance thinks they shouldn't change their mind as that would be discrimination....
Also wouldn't want to resent the little bean if I didn't take it and then felt it was their fault?
Thanks for your advice

GinaFB · 09/06/2010 14:37

Lulabel27 if you have been officially offered the job then tell them now. As an employer myself, I would consider it very off if it hadn't been mentioned at this stage. Plus they can not retract a formal offer on the basis of pregnancy as it is discrimination.

We try to be as fair as we possibly can be as a small business, and from my point of view it would be better to be able to plan what is happening in the business from as early as possible.

Lulabel27 for what it's worth take the job. If they are looking to offer it to you, it's because you are the best candidate.

They cannot then change their mind because you're pregnant!

If you do accept you still have 7 - 8 months to put things in place before you leave and then you always have the role open to return to after maternity. (With you're paternity pay being calculated at the higher salary...)

newdad75 · 09/06/2010 15:05

Sorry - your

Lulabel27 · 09/06/2010 18:11

Thanks GinaFB and Newdad75 for your advice. I agree it would be very bad to not tell them. It worries me a little that the job would be new and therefore harder (do i want that stress along with my first pregnancy!) BUT the higher salary would be very much appreciated!

Thank you for your reassurance NewDad, I hope when I speak to them on Monday (I meet with their HR dept then - its a big bank) that they'll be ok and i'll be eligible for maternity pay.

Will just have to make sure I'm good at the job for the 6 months I'm in it!

xkatyx · 09/06/2010 18:22

Hi everyone,

I found out sunday im pregnant not much symptoms really.

I had a mc back in march so a nervous wreck!!

I think my EDD is 13/14th feb.

xx

banana87 · 09/06/2010 18:30

Hi all,

Hope everyone is feeling great! I am having moments of not actually believing I am pregnant because I feel fine, but then I have other moments like today in Waitrose where I cannot even look at pretzels without wanting to be sick! I went to Tesco and got a test and the line was darker than the control line so I think I'm ok. Scan is Fri am and I am soooo scared they wont see a heartbeat. DH leaves on a stag do later that afternoon and I am on my own all weekend with DD....cannot imagine being able to do it if there was no hb so now considering cancelling it and just going private one day next week. I dont know, any words of wisdom??

linz17xxx · 09/06/2010 18:45

Lullabel i'm due to start a new job on monday. I told them about being pregnant and they have been great and I still have the job! Good luck

diddygirl · 09/06/2010 19:02

Hi everyone, wow there are soooo many of us now!! I rang NHS direct on Sun when I got back from my hols and she didn't think the brown spotting was anything to worry about. I've done a couple of tests in the past 2 days and they are both saying positive. Fingers crossed!

I'm really baffled as I don't seem to have any symptoms at all, apart from being tired, but then again I always am anyway!!! When I had my DD, I had terrible morning sickness which led to hyperemisis by 7 weeks. I'm almost wishing I had hyperemisis again lol!!! Anyone else NOT had any nausea/morning sickness?

diddygirl · 09/06/2010 19:03

PS - going to see my doc next Monday to get it confirmed and sort the booking appt with midwife.

RachelPross · 09/06/2010 19:39

How's everyone else feeling?

I'm feeling decidedly iffy today, pregnancy hormones making me constipated one minute then the opposite the next, plus terrible wind and the nausea is back.

Cravings for black olives (which I hate normally)...what the heck???!!!

At least the sore boobs have stopped.

debka · 09/06/2010 19:41

Have been floored with exhaustion today, although that may have something to do with DD waking (then going back to sleep) at 4.20am. It is light at 4.20am. I couldn't get back to sleep. Then DD decided to only sleep for half an hour (admittedly twice) so I couldn't even have a rest during the day. Would just get the washing on or clean up the kitchen then sit down and- AAAAAA!! I think she knows I'm pg and is trying to punish me!!

debka · 09/06/2010 19:43

rachel I am experiencing the same lovely bowel symptoms!! Pregnancy does make you elegant, doesn't it!

CluckyKate · 09/06/2010 20:00

Good to hear it's not just me who's constipated [phew]....no flatulence yet but pretty sure that'll arrive in due course

Have also got mean spots on my nose (ouch!), feeling v. tetchy, knackered & struggling to keep my appetite under control - am def. eating far too much and all the wrong stuff .

Boobs still normal though - isn't it funny how pregnancy affects us all so differently.

suzym1984 · 09/06/2010 20:34

Rachl and debka I am also experiencing the same bowel problems.....how delightful!

banana87 I would stick with scan for friday and think positive! It will be lovely to see your little bean.

DH and I have been calling it "ricey" as that was the size at 5 weeks....and I think it sounds quite cute!

As for symptoms, my boobs are now huge and very sore, like Ive been punched in the chest! I cant even keep my pj top on in bed cos it hurts my nipples . I have also been so tired today, falling asleep at my desk!

I did make it to the gym however, and can report that it made me feel slightly better. I went on the treadmill, but kept my HR below 140, then did some toning exercises with light weights. I am dreading getting flabby, so taking preventative measures! Still slathering on the rescue oil and bio oil too!
