banana I am like you, feeling very un-pregnant so far, despite the boobies being like a pair of canteloupes. I'm in denial too - still enjoying a few cups of tea a day, and the odd coffee and not really feeling very different. It's so odd...last time I was a sick as a dog from the day I saw the blue line. I keep thinking something must be wrong?
This afternoon I went to see my dear brother, who I love to bits, as today is his birthday. I decided I would tell him our news as I'm very close to him, and I know he can keep his trap shut. Well, how weird is this...he then proceeded to tell me he has woken up every morning for the last 3 weeks retching over the toilet bowl, felt queasy at odd times, and has a powerful metallic taste in his mouth. Do you think my symptoms have been magically transferred to him??
Wonder if that will still work in labour?
On the subject of scans, last time I was pregnant,I rang the midwife unit and said 'I've got a bit of a funny pain in my tummy'(which I did have) and I got a scan that afternoon! I was only 6 weeks, and it was wonderful.
Now I'm not suggesting anyone be dishonest, or anything, but if you were having any odd feelings or twinges (which of course may turn out to be wind, or cramp, or something quite harmless) it may be worth a call to see if they have any unscheduled appointments kept free for just such an occasion. Mind you, I do live in a fairly small rural town, with an overly well-equipped local hospital for the size of catchment area, and I'm as old as the hills, so I could have just been very lucky. But don't be shy in asking - even just for your peace of mind - you may find the midwives are more amenable than you'd expect? After all, your emotional health is just as important to the medical professionals as your physical health at this vulnerable time? And it could save you £100 on a private scan (that's more than one of those Swing Medela pumps costs brand new, so think on about what you could buy instead...?)
Feeling a bit 'moth-wallet' today, as you can tell! I've been looking at £500 prams in my 'I'm Pregnant' magazine (a pressy from Mr T)and wondering where I can get a second hand one...Most of my friends sensibly had their children in their thirties, so their offspring are all at school now. I'm hoping to do a raid on their garages and attics and see what goodies I can borrow!I'm definitely on the side of 'minimal expenditure'. But I'd better hang on and make sure we make it to the magic 12 weeks - or even 20 weeks, before getting too excited about teddy bears and cot blankets.
Well, time to make dinner I think! Bye for now!
