Heavens anyone would rather be in any other position but ours and being pregnant is (for most) great (exluding the piles, the heartburn, constantly getting up for a wee...!) but is there anything you do miss but need to avoid? For some reason I seem to want the stuff I can't have more when I'm pregnant. My top three are:

*Soft Boiled Eggs
*Hot Baths
*Wine!

Only about 9 weeks so know I'll soon be adding sleeping on my tummy to the list!

Gin
Wine
Cider
Stinky blue cheese
Coffee (I know you can drink it but the smell of it still makes me want to boff. I have to run past Starbucks which is a pain since I have to go past 5 of them on my walk to work. It's saving me a fortune though)

fairy472 · 14/05/2010 09:39

Cant believe no ones said their wardrobe!
I miss my jeans!!
had everything in moderation am 32 weeks now!
but gonna have a big old binge on cheese and wine come July!

mampam · 14/05/2010 10:07

I miss not being able to get about properly (have very painful SPD) or go for a walk.

I'm missing Pate too and now curries as it's not worth heartburn.

Still been having hot baths (can't have them any other way) and the odd glass of shandy and wine!!

birdofthenorth · 14/05/2010 10:22

Blue cheese

King prawns

A good night's sleep

Grande cappucinos

Red wine (found this Fre bring which is only 0.5% alcohol so let myself have the odd bit of that!)

Being able to bend over properly!!!

birdofthenorth · 14/05/2010 10:23

Fre brand I meant! Also miss having a functional brain!!

TheBride · 14/05/2010 10:43

Being able to just have a few drinks without worrying about exact quantities/ unsolicited top ups.

Proper "oh my God I'm going to faint or be sick if I dont stop" exercise.

Foodwise- nothing really but Asia is much more relaxed on that. I don't eat out of restaurant bins but that's about it

I worked out the other day that if I really want to have 3 children and breastfeed them all for 6 months then I'm looking at 4 years without proper drinking or exercise. Gutted. Might just have two.

dolphina78 · 14/05/2010 17:51

Prawns

Soft boiled eggs

Pimms, vodka, rose.....!

Not being able to pick things up easily

Putting my own socks on!

flintski · 14/05/2010 18:23

Red wine!
my jeans

Jacksmybaby · 14/05/2010 18:43

So with the people who've said that tea tastes funny. It's gutting!

Emster30 · 14/05/2010 18:53

I miss booze. Am having a weekly glass of wine but I could really do with going to the pub and getting hammered - who knows when I'll next be able to do that! I don't think it would take much nowadays either!

I also miss Brie and Stilton. I have been happily eating red lion stamped runny eggs, and am not that bothered about pate. Oh, I miss mussels - I have been steering clear just in case. They're not something I eat very often normally but I keep having the chance to have them at the moment!

Antipasti plates in restaurants, too. Ooh parma ham, red wine, runny cheese... yes please!

But being pregnant is lovely really, and I've only got 10 more weeks...

dappymoo · 14/05/2010 19:14

Sorry, no orgasms?? Really??

girlsyearapart · 14/05/2010 19:40

Alcohol

sleeping on my front

doing anything without sound effects- like a grunting tennis player when all I am doing is picking up a sock/whatver..

Also the proper sweating mess exercise especially running as I was getting quite good at that.

Sex that doesn't involve being in one or two uncomfortable positions with dh asking is that ok? every 5 seconds..

TEA- totally gone off it in all 3 pregnancies but rest assured the first thing I wanted was a cup of tea o the taste does come back.

LittleBeth53 · 15/05/2010 05:58

dappymoo, apparently no orgasms in the 3rd trimester as it can induce early labour. My midwife said to make the most of the 2nd trimester!!

Alicetheinvisible · 15/05/2010 07:53

Didn'y bloody work for me! The last few weeks of my last pg DH said he felt used (raging hormones and the thought that sex might help bring on labour a bit earlier)

dappymoo · 15/05/2010 08:32

Oh no that's terrible! I thought it was just an old wives tale

Alicetheinvisible · 15/05/2010 08:35

Terrible that it does start labour or terrible that it doesn't?

dappymoo · 15/05/2010 08:46

How terrible not to have orgasms! no wonder people stop having sex... maybe I'm more bothered as my "honeymoon" will be in the third trimester!! (but then at 8 months I wasn't exactly expecting the earth to move anyway- apart from being caused by my whale-like state of course...)

LittleBeth53 · 15/05/2010 09:02

I'm sure a cheeky one or two big O's won't do any harm. I cetainly intend to "treat" myself every now & again when my 3rd trimester begins!

Wholelottalove · 15/05/2010 11:42

Eh? No orgasms in 3rd trimester? I've never heard of that before. Def did on the odd occasion with DD in last trimester (did the sex to induce labour too with no results- she was 8 days over!) Orgasm did set off strong braxton hicks for me so I suppose if you had a risk factor for early labour or something maybe you would need to avoid but surely not if all going normally?

I'm only 9 weeks, have been having hot baths as I did throughout with DD. Again, MW told me last time main risk was to me if I fainted and I don't have them so hot I'd pass out! I've toned it down a little bit though and just start reasonably hot and let it cool.

I do miss not feeling sick and grotty and not having ocnstant weird 'ill' tase in mouth. And heaving at smells I normally like, like cut grass. But will pass.

Making the most of tummy lying whilst I still can!

Honeybee79 · 15/05/2010 18:53

Lovely cold Alsace pinot gris
Brie
Pate
The odd cheeky cig
Eggs benedict with runny eggs (have to confess to breaking that rule twice now unfortunately)

Sigh . . . But it's not forever and will be worth it in the end.

sazziej · 15/05/2010 21:14

Rare steak and sleeping on my stomach.

Principle · 16/05/2010 14:19

Rare steak
runny eggs
bre
stilton

Funnily enough im not missing boozing.

Principle · 16/05/2010 14:20

Oh i miss being toned
miss riding my horses
miss feeling sexy and mobile lol

sunshiney · 16/05/2010 14:41

The thing with hot baths early on is birth defects (very small risk)

later on towards the end of pg it's that the baby has no way to cool itself and gets hotter as your blood heats up.

But in both cases you are likely to feel uncomfortable and get out before any damage is done.

Personally I like boiling hot baths but would be unpleasant for me now at 38 weeks, makes me feel sick.

As for what I miss:

being able to bend
picking my small daughter up
lying on my back
walking with any pace at all

MadameCheese · 16/05/2010 14:43

You can have rare steak, it says in my book!!!
