Pregnancy

What are you missing most.....

Heavens anyone would rather be in any other position but ours and being pregnant is (for most) great (exluding the piles, the heartburn, constantly getting up for a wee...!) but is there anything you do miss but need to avoid? For some reason I seem to want the stuff I can't have more when I'm pregnant. My top three are:

*Soft Boiled Eggs
*Hot Baths
*Wine!

Only about 9 weeks so know I'll soon be adding sleeping on my tummy to the list!

I miss tea. Can't bear the taste anymore and I used to be a right tea belly. Am relieved to hear from others on the thread that it does wear off post birth.

Also mising blue cheese, pate and rare steak. Along with seafood, these are the only foods I am being strict about. Soft cheese is ok if its pasturised, so I have the occasional lump of Pié d'Angloys on crusty bread - yumm.

Not really missing booze, mainly because I just don't fancy it most of the time, and the odd occasion where I have wanted a beer or a glass of wine, I've allowed myself a small glass.

being able to enjoy pizza, during my pregnancy I had a complete aversion to cheese, so i used to take everything and just eat the base

I should have bought shares in Gaviscon before this pregnancy as like last time I go through a bottle every two days, and just swig from the bottle.(saves on the washing up!!)

I miss go to my fitness classes (Body combat,Body attack and Body pump) not allowed to go due to placenta previa.

My jeans, only bought two pairs of maternity trousers and soooooo fed up wearing them.

ALCOHOL.........at the moment any type..Cider, Wine, Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Southern Comfort...

I miss being able to sleep past 7.30am without waking up with cramp in my pelvis due to sleeping on my left side all night, is to much trouble and need help turning over that its just easier to get up.

Didn't know I couldn,t eat Mr Whippy, ate half of one yesterday

Having energy.
Not wanting to vomit at the thought of eating.
Having a waist (at three months I just look a bit tubby, am looking forward to the bump making an appearance!)

Oh, and prosciutto.

8 weeks till my due date, I'm missing vino, and now that the sun's out I'm craving Pimms!

Everyone seems to eat peanuts around me.

I really miss riding my horse, and as the other lady, wearing my favourite clothes, I'm fed up of boring maternity clothes. I have a wedding to go to in 5 weeks and am going to look like a beached whale.

I miss a good nights sleep, having enough breath to get up the stairs without sounding like my nan, I don't seem to be able to enjoy chocolate -- anyone else find that?

I also miss the steam room at the gym. I've already planned my first meal for once the baby's born and its going to include goats cheese, yum yum.

But hey -- they keep telling me it's all work it.

Chicken liver pate is my big one, and that second glass of wine (I've had the odd first small glass since 12 weeks).

I still eat runny eggs, I looked up the chances of getting salmonella in the UK, given all the chickens are vaccinated - they're miniscule and then only that there may be a trace on the shell. So I wash my hands after handling them, then enjoy a nice fried egg!

I'm desperately missing going for a run, sleeping on my tummy and being able to rub cream into my feel.
Only 2 days to go though!

there's nothing wrong with having a warm/hot bath. not sure why there's scaremongering on this thread over this. As long as you're not scolding yourself it's pretty safe to have a bath during pregnancy!

What I miss the most?
Not throwing up EVERYTHING I eat.
Having enough energy to function.

The rest is pretty inconsequential by comparison.

Totally right about the tea. I still have 2 cups a day but it doesn't taste nearly as good. On the weekends I don't drink it at all. And I used to drink 5 cups a day minimum.

I miss being able to run for as long as I want and I miss doing stomach crunches.

I must admit, I am still eating sushi from the one place where I am confident it is nice and fresh. I do feel guilty when I do though. I thought I read it was ok as long as the fish was frozen before hand.

Myself - I miss myself...only 7 weeks to go, but I really miss the fun person I used to be before I was all consumed with pregnancy and tiredness (and when I could have a beer or two!!)
Oh and festivals - summer is approaching and this is the 1st year I haven't been to a festival in about 8 years!!!

I would kill for a Pimms and Lemonade in the back garden now that the weather is getting warmer.
Oh well, only 10 weeks to go.

Just got the BFP for Number 2 but I've had 3 MC's so not counting my chickens - vacinated or not- for a while yet. Just dropped in to remind myself of what I hope to be happily missing in the months to come.

When I had DD I got Gestational diabeties at 20 weeks, oh how I missed
chocolate
cakes
biscuits
fruit in large amounts.

I'm scoffing sneaky dairy milk now until someone tells me I can't anymore!

What do they say - absense makes the heart grow fonder. My sister brought me a huge box of Thorntons Continentals into hospital after I had DD. I tell you chocolate never tasted so good

Sushi
rare steak
pate
salami
parma ham
blue cheese

I am ignoring the egg thing (except when in a restaurant). Salmonella is rare and I understand that it doesnt cross the placenta (unlike listeriosis) so it just makes you vomit. No change there then

Also - can anyone tell me - can you eat runny cheese which is pasteurised? You can get taleggio (my favourite cheese) from Waitrose pasteurised and also camembert and brie etc. I have read conflicting views about it. I did tuck into some pasteurised taleggio a few weeks ago but the guilt wasnt worth it. I want a guilt free noshing session!

Weirdly not missing alcohol at all. And I am normally a booze hound (as my hubby so politely calls me)

I miss licking the mixing bowl (raw egg) - forgot this morning and had 2 seconds of finger-licking bliss before swearing and scaring the decorator!

Rowing on the river in the sunshine (tummy too big)
Wine
Blue cheese
Tummy sleeping
Hot baths

I eat rare steak. Don't like runny eggs but I still eat the left over cake mixture - just make sure I get British eggs. For me, the tiny risk is outweighed by the de-stressing effect if I only do it occasionally. Ditto a tiny glass of Baileys once in a while!

Good news for ladies avoiding sushi, prawns and other shellfish/mussels! They are all ok to eat while pregnant, according to the UK Food Standards Agency (with a few provisos).

Check out www.eatwell.gov.uk/asksam/agesandstages/pregnancy/#A219865

Hope this cheers a few of you up!
