So many threads by so many names but this thread is a place to come after TTC after MC..

Deposit your worries in the box by the door and grab a cuppa! :-)

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AlbaDeTamble · 14/06/2010 08:49

I'm now past where I MC'd in February, that's a milestone I'm really glad to have behind me...

toomuchteaching · 14/06/2010 10:50

Aaaaaah! SWI every 2/3 days! This weekend was the first time I've felt up to it since finding out! Oh my gosh, I must not let him find this thread... he'll be really annoyed, I've been telling him it's normal to want to go to bed at 9, and not for that!! Haha... you ladies have made me feel quite inadequate!

Alba so pleased for you to be past that milestone. I'll do the same on Wednesday, it'll be such a relief. Prosecco on the beach sounds amazing! Jealous. Everything crossed for your scan Gi1da.

Right, just updating the list with a change to my scan date, grr... put back. I feel like it's never going to get here.

Lovely to get back from a weekend away and see all the good scan news!! Really glad everyone is doing ok, especially everyone waiting for the dating scan - hope the next few weeks fly by.

xxxx

HappyGirl1 · 14/06/2010 16:04

Gilda best best best of luck for tomorrow! Really really hope you get good news.

No news with me, got some crazy itchy stingy arms today - completely random i know!

have a good Monday all

thefatladyscreams · 14/06/2010 18:54

What excellent scan news - big smiles and relief for SamB, GLB, Redheadgal, Marrow, Digging and Ba8y1 (what a list!)

Clareanna - I would take the tears as a good sign that you've got loads of hormones gushing around!

Louisesh - share your pain re the wine. Had a pub lunch sitting outside yesterday in the sun and found myself staring/drooling at a lady's glass of chilled rose on the next door table.

Toomuchteaching - laughing at your SwithoutI!

Zayja - hope you have a long and restful summer (jealous, me - of course not!)

Unbuffy & Gilda - thanks for checking re the heat. Not got pregnancy ankles so far (famous last words) - but just got to the stage when I really notice the bump when bending over. Must learn to bend at the knees - note to self.

I'm having a mini panic at the moment. I think I've spent so much of this pregnancy worrying that it would go wrong, that the fact that I might be having a baby in just over three months has just sunk in. Keep alternating between excited and blind panic. Just started to look at what we might need and trying to book NCT classes etc. I find it very, very strange when I look at pictures of cots or even worst - breast pumps - to imagine that this will all be my reality in the not too distant future! Please some of you old hands, tell me this is normal and I'll be alright (lie if necessary!)

Gilda - good luck for tomorrow.

Hope I don't mess this up but updating the list as my due date was slightly out.

Unbuffy · 14/06/2010 18:57

Gilda just adding to the good wishes - hope you join the Good Luck Club... We're on a roll now!

Not much going on here, made 300 meringues yesterday (my parents are having a party and my mother doesn't bake) so there are virtual m'rangs and cream if anyone wants them - and someone out there might have some strawberries to complete it... mmmm...

Definately felt movement early this morning, then convinced myself I'd dreamed it; where is the fish please I need a good slapping...

Gi1da · 14/06/2010 18:58

Oops silly Brian. My scan is tomorrow the 15th (not tomorrow the 14th). Where is the year going?

Also silly today, wore bare legs* and sandals. Just got home after lovely journey in cold and drizzle!

*Obv not some weird garment fashioned out of limbs.

Unbuffy · 14/06/2010 19:01

TFLS x-posts, calm down, three months is aaaages and you've got the nesting thing to come yet when you'll be all mad busy and get stuff sorted you never imagined! (I painted out whole house top to bottom when 8 months gone with dd. The dog started to run away when she saw me coming with a brush). And don't worry about breast pumps etc until you know you need them - you may not and they cost masses. Unless you already have it all planned out of course... (planning? What is that again?)

Unbuffy · 14/06/2010 19:04

Giggling at psycho chopped-up-legs-and-strappy-shoes dress now... What did you have on your feet?

LilRedWG · 14/06/2010 19:19

Hi - can I join in please?

I'm only 4+3 and prior to having DD (4) I had two miscarriages. My parents died last February (09) and I can't face any more loss - I am so scared.

My EDD is 19th February.

clareanna · 14/06/2010 19:22

hello all - please don't feel impressed - I am just trying to wean DH off the SWI routine after 4 cycles of post MC desperation trying to get pg again!

It's just tough for them that when you get pg your hormones just shut you down for the first trimester, but I'm so scared of a bleed after sex due to pesky cervix that I'll do all I can to avoid it. Managed to get a 4 day gap this time, will be going for the week next time

Still v early days for me, so no sign of sickness yet, one week to go....

Have worked out that I'll be 9+3 on the day I have a massive assessment at work... that is age last pg stopped growing. Was hoping to have the day off and just relax and think positive thoughts in a zen like way. Instead will be stressed to the eyeballs and facing a panel of our exec who will be trying to assess whether I'm a future leader of the business or not
have decided that this is a GOOD THING (as can't do anything to change it) as instead it will take my mind off something I can actually do very little to control going on in my wombular area

Gi1da sending you huge best wishes for tomorrow

TFLS I too only really realised I HAD A BABY when they let me take DS out of hospital
you don't need very much to start with, and don't get me started on how little you actually need in your hospital bag!
NCT definitely a good idea - we did the intensive weekend and are still really good friends with 4 of the couples we met there.

clareanna · 14/06/2010 19:24

lilRed sorry, xposts - congratulations on your pg, and so so sorry for your losses - I'm a newbie to the thread too, so we can hold hands together.

Meita · 14/06/2010 22:36

Hi,
quickly checking in after having an eventles s antenatal appointment today. Things seem to be going well and the "insider" has even decided to go head down for now - though still has plenty of space to move and I sort of suspect will be transverse again soon.
GP said (I'm alternately seeing GP/MW) I should be thinking about stopping work soon. "Too much stress might cause premature birth. Take it easy." Problem is, I really want to get as much as possible done before the baby arrives, as I doubt I'll be finding it easy to return to my thesis afterwards.

TFLS, I am still sometimes in a bit of denial. Baby is due in 9 weeks - we do have a crib (made by FooL i.e. father-out-of-law i.e. DP's dad) but we don't have a nursery... in fact, we are waiting for planning permission to come through in order to build said nursery! Are we really going to have a baby? How are we ever going to cope? Help, what did we do?!? -> That's what I feel like most of the time. I'm very much hoping that starting NCT classes in a couple of weeks will help make it more real. That said, though, no denying the realness of the constant kicking and bruising I'm experiencing!
So I'm totally with you on feeling a bit strange about it all. Can't promise it will be alright, as have never been there before either... but then, we are not the first first-time-parents, so many others have gone there before and have been fine, so I suppose we will too!

LadyBee · 14/06/2010 23:28

Hi.

So, I was on the other thread and got pg way quicker than I was expecting, so am still feeling a bit stunned.

I'm only a tiny bit pregnant, obviously, but am hoping hoping hoping this one works out. I had one early miscarriage then conceived my DS who is now 2. So I guess this is the second time I've gone through this pg after mc lark. We had a "reassurance" scan at 8 weeks with my 3rd pg and discovered there wasn't anything there (which was so odd, I'd been having such strong symptoms), and now am just hoping against hope that I got a good egg+sperm combo this time.

Will be off to the GP on Wednesday and I guess we'll see what sort of support (or otherwise) my area offers.

So...erm...that's me. Meita I don't think that 'oh shit' feeling about the first baby goes away for a while until after you get them home. And as hard won as these babies are, there will still probably the moment when you and your DP/DH look at each other and say "I'm so sorry, I think we made a terrible mistake". It's ok everyone thinks it, it's just that only toddlers are allowed to express it commonly . And repeat: "Everything will be fiiiine".

LadyBee · 14/06/2010 23:30

too much. And other assorted typos. Sorry.

diggingforvictory · 15/06/2010 08:05

Welcome LilRed and Ladybee. I'm new here too, I wasn't brave enough to join a thread for ages. Let's all hand hold through those awful first 12 weeks together.

Redheadgal · 15/06/2010 08:48

Big hello to LilRed and waves to LadyBee - good to see you here!

The good news is I'm feeling more awake and active. I'm also not feeling horrendously sick the whole time. The smell of my cat's food still makes me gag, as does my conditioner and toothpaste, but its bearable.

The bad news is that I'm now beginning to think about the next few months and every time I do that I start to whimper and have to lie down with my head in the sand We're relocating down south because DH has a new job, but with only weeks till our contract expires here (and cannot be renewed) we still haven't exchanged on our new house. It looks like we'll be living with my parents and driving 6 hour round trip to the new place to get it sorted. Unfortunately it's going to take a lot of sorting - we're moving into an old sweet shop and we're having to do major renovations. Fortunately it looks like the loft conversion is possible - which means there'll actually be space now for the bean, but it means mess, dust and headaches for the next 7 months.

I'm trying to stay in denial positive about it all, but it's going to be very tough being in a new place not knowing anyone. But being pregnant is a good way to meet people I know - we're going to do NCT classes and I'm going to see what other pregnancy stuff is on offer. Just feeling a bit sorry for myself tbh. I know it's the right move for my DH, but it means I'll be leaving my friends and have to commute two hours to work (albeit just once or twice a week).

Anyway, enough self-indulgent moaning for a sunny Tuesday morning. Better scoot off and get on with some work.

Good luck to Gi1da today and good news Meita for yesterday!

LilRedWG · 15/06/2010 08:52

Thank you all for the lovely welcome. I'm thinking of calling my lovely GP today and telling her I'm going crazy and can I please have a reassurance scan at siex weeks. We'll see what she says.....

randomimposter · 15/06/2010 10:55

quick good luck wave to GildaTheFashionQueen for today - will pop back later for update x

Goodluckbear · 15/06/2010 11:07

Good luck for today Gilda!!

Welcome LilRed - sorry to hear of all the trauma you've been through, glad you have come here for some support - an early reassurance scan sounds like a really good idea, I had one at 7 weeks when they could see the heartbeat and it did help.

Sarahlou - thanks for your reply on my other thread about holidays!! Rhodes sounds lovely, I'm adding that to our list of possibilities. (For everyone else - I started a thread about going on holiday when 28 - 29 weeks pregnant for advice and recommdendations, as me and DH want to go away in Sept.)

Big waves for everyone!!

xxx

Unbuffy · 15/06/2010 11:44

HEY we went to Rhodes when I was that pg with dd!! ooo, small world!! We stayed in a lurvely spa hotel (first time I've ever stayed in a hotel bar honeymoon!) on the beach and it was great. Although I was sick on the flights and the taxi to the airport on the way home was very very scarifying it was brilliant and very relaxing. Thoroughly recommend it.

Hi Lilred and Ladybee, nice to see you here and have a cup of weak green tea and a biscuit (or there might be some meringues left somewhere). fx you can get comfy and stick around, 'tis a nice place to be!

Did I already say g'luck Gilda for today? I think brian has taken permanent bye-byes If not, best of it, lady!

Exciting coupla weekends coming up here, party this (my parents' 30th anniversary) - marquee and band type thing so hoping for good weather or my heels will like soooo sink into the lawn. Also my frock has no back (so no bra as backless bras involve a waist wot I has not got no more. Note to self: but some of that sticky tape far attching dress to boobs. Unless anyone has any bright ideas?) And NEXT weekend we're going JUST THE 2 OF US to the Isle Of Wight (not quite Greece I know but NO TODDLER!!!) for the weekend! Very excited about that...

I'm sure standards start dropping once you have small people around...

Unbuffy · 15/06/2010 11:55

PS Redhead I thought we were having a mad summer having just moved, potty training, dog due to have puppies in a month and of course expanding tummy. Do try to take it a bit easy wherever possible. And it might be worth investing in one of those fluffy driving-while-pregnant seatbelt covers by the sound of it. And a portable loo... PS are the giraffe, the pelly and the monkey moving in with you? (sorry, one of my favourites, ignore me)

And Meita stay calm, you'll probably want to have your new arrival in the same room as you for a few months anyway (it's easier for night feeding). And I agree with Clareanna, you really don't need much to start off with except blankets, glucose (for you!) and nappies. And if total numpties can manage it (no offense to anyone who considers themself a numpty), so can we!

LilRedWG · 15/06/2010 12:23

Good luck today Gilda!

HappyGirl1 · 15/06/2010 13:07

Welcome to all the newbies!

Gilda best of luck today - really hope it goes well

Everyone else sorry for short message really busy in work - will check back later

diggingforvictory · 15/06/2010 14:45

Unbuffy, you can get stick on bras that look like giant pieces of beige micropore. Rather uncomfortable to remove afterwards, but it gets round the strapless backless problem.

A toddler-free weekend sounds lovely. Next weekend I'll have an overload of toddler instead. My dh is cycling the London to Brighton race, so I get to spend the day at home with ds. Just like every other day really. He's lovely, but I'd just like a break!
