Hi Ladies,
I guess misery loves company, because I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one suffering with a terrible cold!!! Sore throat, cough, and stuffy head - this sucks!

Thanks lee for the congrats Was wondering where you've been. Also, anyone know where Mrs. R is??? I suppose the further along you get, the busier you get as due date gets closer. Well I'm hoping for all the best at your upcoming scan!

Off to google if there is anything I can take to feel better, can't bear the thought of working tomorrow while feeling like this! Wish I could call in but have lots important to do...

Great news unbuffy on your scan, that's fantastic!

Gi1da · 24/05/2010 09:16

Great news on your scan Unbuffy!! Oooo, it sounded really good!! Really pleased for you.

Good luck for yours today Lee xxx

Sounds like the lurgy is going round, shame to be poorly when it's so nice outside - hope you feel better soon.

Unbuffy and Sarahlou - the house we want is flood risk because of a stream running at the bottom of the garden, and it's about 10ft down too so don't see how!! Maybe I'm moving into a house by you guys .

xxx

Goodluckbear · 24/05/2010 10:18

Oh, oh - I had a question - I seem to have gotten really fat. Just my stomach really. I'm 10+5 - is that normal? It's squishy fat not a bump, like. Feel like a dunce as I never got this far before - over the weekend it seemed to be worse, couldn't fit in my trousers, but today it is smaller (thank god, otherwise would have no clothes to wear to work).

xxx

HappyGirl1 · 24/05/2010 10:55

GLB I'm the same, my belly gets really big most days from 1pm (probably cos I eat more) but in the mornings can just about fit into my work trousers with both buttons opened!

I worry when i can fit in the trousers sometimes and oh I dunno just one big worry. i so hope it's normal though for it to change cos at the weekend DH def said it was a bump.

Unbuffy SarahLou GLB - our new build house (north east) was down as a flood risk area too but in the end we went with it - hopefully it'll be ok!

Got a cold here now too and the guys in my office insist on having the windows open super wide.. it's not hot / sunny here today unfortunately!

Just had a sneeze and had a really bad after pain in my lower left pelvis, I've suffered from ovarian cysts before so really really hope everything is okay there. I feel fine now but it was a bit of a shock for it to be quite bad again when I sneezed. i think the guys in here think I'm crazy (noone in work knows yet).

Hope ye are all having good Monday's

Cheepz · 24/05/2010 11:09

lee honey - good luck with your scan today, I am sure everything will be wonderful and you can relax even more. Lovely that DD is being such a sweetheart, DS is 3 in a couple of weeks and its such a lovely age. xxx miss you [smile}

all the best to everyone else

Gi1da · 24/05/2010 13:26

On the flood risk thingy - when I sold my FIRST FLOOR flat in Peckham, south London, the buyer's first mortgage was refused as the search showed it was a flood risk. In that case a) the entire of South London is built on a flood plain so technically no-one could EVER get a mortgage, and b) that's a helluva lot of sea level change for a first floor flat to get flooded! Frankly I think if things got that bad then a few damp patches would be the least of anyone's worries! (What with the polar bears swimming past the window in search of a bit of shade).

I would LOVE a stream at the bottom of my garden! Especially in this weather

GLB and Happy I think I am reacting more to wheat than before. Had a bread and jam frenzy on Saturday morning then by lunchtime looked ready to pop. Am sure it's just to do with digestion slowing down so baby can nab all the nutrients (or something delightful like that).

Huge semaphore flag wave to Cheepz

LeeWT · 24/05/2010 14:31

Hi girls it all went so well thanks for the support as always.. I am 21 weeks by their official dates, 21+4 by my dates and 22 weeks by the sonographers dates anyway it's all good!!

Cheepz miss you hon!!! How you doing?

Mad wave to everyone else!! X

LeeWT - congrats that's great news that your scan went well. Delighted to hear good news that's fab x

Sarahlou8 · 24/05/2010 18:53

Lee wonderful news so glad it went well.

Goodluckbear getting bigger by the end of the day is really common, it's still happening to me now at 18 weeks, I can fit into certain things in the morning, and yet in the evening theres no chance and I can feel my ligaments really pulling down each side. No idea why though.
I had a bump by 10 weeks too, even though everything is still developing really low down, I think it just 'shoves' everything else up into a bump!!

Well yesterday I severely sunburnt my lower legs and feet, and my forearms. They never ever burn (not in this country anyway) and someone has told me today it's because your skin is much more sensitive in pregnancy. Is this right?
I work with pre school children and have spent the day telling them why it's important to use suncream. Today I can show them too - ouch!!

louisesh · 24/05/2010 19:44

Welcome to all the newbies, it's lovely to see you here. There are many stages of worry, but the scans are reassuring. I'm having a tricky time just now...I have a uti and am taking anti-biotics which seems all wrong having been so careful about what I put in or on my body. I also hadn't realised how serious it could become in pregnancy so should have gone to a & e on Saturday. With the heat and feeling unwell with the infection I am going to be at home for a couple of days.

I have also been worried about my baby's movements which really seem to come and go. I had been feeling tickling sensations quite regularly, most days, but recently I haven't felt anything at all. My midwife was really quite dismissive of the whole thing saying it was too early for regular movements and it depended entirely on the position of the baby. I didn't feel reassured at all and don't know where else to turn. I guess I just have to wait for two weeks when I have my next scan. We are going to find out if we are having a girl or a boy and after that I might just do a little shopping!

Hope everyone is well Sarahlou how are you getting on? Are you having regular movements now? We are both at the same sort of stage and I remember you being so worried early on. Have you done any baby shopping yet? I looked in on the October thread and it can be a scary place! A lot of shopping has been done... SB x

Unbuffy · 24/05/2010 20:16

Hello hello

Lee congrats on great scan news, another hurdle passed

Nearly there Effilump, your turn in a couple of days to be on the Happy Scans List!

SamB at your mw - surely they should be able to strap you into one of those trace thingies and make sure? You're nearly nearly at 20 weeks. Grrr.

GLB where are you moving to? I live in the Faaaarr Zouth West of Zummerzet. And it really is Like That. Can't wait to get back, seem to have been at parentses for ages, and travelling 45+ minutes every day to Inlawses has not been good in this heat. Ho hum.

I'm sure I'm missing out loadsa folks and news, I am sorry, am trying to keep up but y'know... Hi everyone!

Feeling much better around here, still v tired but sickness has eased off (I think the whle running-out-of-folic-acid-so-stopping-taking-the-foul-stuff may have helped). Also have currently excuses for over emotionalness which helps (!) and am sill on a high after scan. So a big up on last week! Am off to watch the end of tonight's Chelsea coverage on the box. Ta ta x

LeeWT · 25/05/2010 08:10

Sam I would def get your gp to use a Doppler as that would put your mind at ease.. At 17-18 weeks I could feel flutters but not regular kicks that was really from end of 19 weeks onwards..

Soon your little one will be tormenting you at allhours! Xxx

OP posts:
Goodluckbear · 25/05/2010 09:35

Good news about your scan Lee!! You must be very relieved/pleased!!

Unbuffy - we're trying to move to Kent, we both work in London so will be moving to one of those there commuter towns! It will be about time, we have a teeny tiny flat in London at the moment and the baby would have to live in the wardrobe.

Feel not so fat and not very pregnant today, and a little bit of brown blood last night, but so far nothing else so I'm pretending to ignore it

xxx

AlbaDeTamble · 25/05/2010 15:14

So sorry you're having a worrying time GLB, I hope by now you're feeling nice and pregnant again and the worries are subsiding, I must admit, in your position I would be trying to get into the EPU for a reassurance scan (or going privately), since that's probably the only way to really put your mind at rest. On a happy note, Kent's a great place for kids, hope it all works out with the house. Have you checked the environment agency website? They have a map of flood risk which can make it a little clearer the extent of the risk...

Great news on all successful scans, lovely to hear it. I'm getting petrified now as reassurance scan booked for Thursday. No real reason to think anything is wrong, but I'm anxious anyway. Beginning to think that I'm throwing up every night through nerves rather than pregnancy (have never been this sick before). Have to have a full bladder for the scan, so hopeful this means that at 8+4 it won't be one of those horrid dildocam scans, would rather avoid if possible, thereagain, I really want to know all is well with bean...

Comiserations to Unbuffy and Zayja and any other cold sufferers. DS has a streaming nose and hacking cough so I think I'll probably be joining your number before too long. Why now, when the weather's so lovely?

Malteser where are you? You were worrying about a scan and since then we've heard nothing, I hope all is well and it's just pregnancy fatigue keeping you from posting, but I'm worrying about you.

and did I say TFLS, lovely to hear your scan news, the girls on the feisty and fabulous thread are all asking after you... post your news there for them please!

And talking of other threads, looks like lots of new BFPs this week, which is lovely to see

Hope I've got the list right -- really not thinking straight this week, similarly sorry for limited name checking. I really hope I'll be back to my usual self after Thursday.

Have booked a private scan for next week, 8+3... I too am hoping for no dildocam as you call it!! Glad I'm not the only one convinced that my nausea is just in my head, or down to nerves. Sometimes I feel like I'm making it all up (I've even had DH checking boob size - not that he's complaining!!)

Hope everyone's having a good day!

SamanthaB123 · 25/05/2010 15:38

Hello,

Just found out that a child I teach has chickenpox . Don't know what the implications are yet, am waiting for my GP to call me back. I'm most worried that the child who has it has passed it on to others who haven't come out in spots yet and who I have been teaching...

AlbaDeTamble · 25/05/2010 15:40

If it helps, SamanthaB, my pregnancy book says should be no problem if you've had chickenpox before -- do you know if you've had it?

boodleboot · 25/05/2010 17:33

hey all....back from sunny spain and boy was it sunny. 24 wks this week (today by sonographer date thurs by hosp notes date) and very very relieved to reach the date of viability! Hopefully little bubs will stay cooking for a fair while yet tho. i felt nervous flying but all seems to be fine and i feel very rested yet slightly traumatised at the daily sight of myself in various swimsuits....have cellulite too now all over legs which is first for me and i am NOOOOT liking it one bit! Please god that it goes after this preg...baby doesn't stop moving all the time now and seems to be settling into patterns....they also kick on demand if DH talks to the bump and taps on it he is rewarded with a kick back which he really loves!

My son came out in chicken pox on the 1st day of the hols and i followed suit despite us both having had it before. I only had seven spots tho thankfully and felt fine...he fared less well but still felt ok. I am sure all will be fine Sam but hope your GP comes back to reassure you very soon.

lee TFLS and Unbuffy - great scan news for you all....sorry to hear about your FIL tho unbuffy - God bless...

It was my 32nd birthday on the 18th whilst on hols and one of the presents from my DH was this beautiful mayan chiming ball pendant that is suspended low over my bump and the chiming is supposed to soothe the baby and be an anchoring sound for both pregnancy and babyhood as you put it over their cot....how thoughtful is he??!!?? i nearly melted on the spot (nothing to do with the raging heat i promise )

he is going to be the best daddy this baby could wish for...

anyhoo i know i have forgotten to name check loads of people for which i apologise but hi to everyone and its nice to be home.

Sarahlou8 · 25/05/2010 18:21

Hi all

and Hi Samb nice to see you at last!

That's really bad of your midwife to dismiss your worries - not fair at all. To be honest I've been looking to feel some movement since 15 weeks which is when I felt the others, and was really worried to reach week 16 and feel nothing. I went to see my lovely midwife who found the heartbeat straight away and since then have had intermittent flutters. It's been much more active this week, but there is still an area on the front where I can see the baby kicking when I'm in the bath and yet I can't feel it, so I'm guessing my placenta is on the front wall.
Re chicken pox - I'm a nursery nurse in a pre-school and have been in contact with it, my midwife said there is no need to worry as long as you've had it yourself. If not, there is something they can give you.
I dip into the October thread very occasionally but I have to admit, although they're very friendly I feel like a fish out of water and it moves incredibly fast, so I'm staying put here cos you're all fab

On the shopping front, no I havent bought a thing, but will start to look just as soon as we're in our new house (18th June all being well)

Oh and I can't get DH to agree on finding out the sex even though I really want to know. So I think I'm just going to have to wait!

Boodle glad you had a lovely holiday and hope you had a very happy birthday, your DH sounds lovely!

Goodluckbear Keeping everything crossed that the spotting is just a nasty scare. Make sure you get plenty of rest won't you.

Hi to everyone else. Feeling a lot better today, I managed a whole nights sleep without coughing so hopefully I'm on the mend xx

SamanthaB123 · 25/05/2010 21:01

My GP wasn't much help to be honest. She said that if I wasn't sure that I was immune I shouldn't go to school until my immunity had been tested. The test takes two weeks to come back. DH and I talked about it a lot and read NHS info and decided it wasn't worth taking any risks. Because I have had chicken pox lots of times I can't be sure that I am immune. I am also asthmatic which seems to make a difference. So I have a very long half term. Bloods are being taken tomorrow.

School have been really good about the whole thing but I feel uncomfortable that I might be over-reacting. It's been a strange day...

Gi1da · 26/05/2010 09:08

Morning all .

GLB hope things have settled down and no more worrying occurrences. Are you going for a checkup to reassure yourself?

Effilump good luck with your scan today!

SamB just enjoy the long half term - on doctors orders!

A happy birthday to Boodle

Alba and Toomuch I am starting to think about trying to get a private scan. Just got my booking in appointment date and it's not till June 11th when I will be 11weeks6.

I'm going on holiday when I'm 12w5 to 14 weeks so if I don't get the scan in before then it will be really late.

The macabre side of me wants to have a scan a week before I go on holiday so if there is anything wrong I can get an ERPC before I go away (never want a 'natural' again).

I haven't been on holiday in years and this was booked as a get over the last miscarriage getaway and I really don't want it buggered up by another mc.

I've read here that it is possible to walk into St Thomas Hosp in Waterloo and get a scan without referral, its not far from my work. Has anyone been there by any chance?

Guess I will ring my own midwife's today and see what a likely scan date would be given my booking in date. Oh I just wish it was all sooner!

Sorry for moaning today.

I am an awful eejit...I suffer from guilt in such a comprehensive way. Instead of enjoying the rest I am just worrying about not being at work. My bloods have been taken and I should be able to get the results today - not in two weeks as I was told yesterday, so I will probably be back at work tomorrow anyway.

In a more general moan, I am quite annoyed with the ante natal care where I live because it isn't very well connected. I saw my doctor who referred me to the midwives. The doctor is then not part of my care in any way. Except that I have had a uti and the chickenpox situation. The midwives know nothing of either of these things as they were dealt with by the doctor and have not been added to my notes. The midwives couldn't deal with me because they are not permitted to write prescriptions. As the midwives are based at the local hospital no-one seems to talk to each other. Hmmmph. Sorry, felt like a moan!

Hope everyone else is well, SB x

Morning Ladies,

SamB I definitely think you did the right thing staying off work. Good news that you will get the results tomorrow though - hope it goes well. Don't feel guilty being off - you are doing what the doctor said!

SarahLou how great the midwife found the heartbeat straight away! That's fantastic!

Boodleboot Belated Happy Birthday - what a very thoughtful pressie from your DH - that was super sweet of him!

I'm a bit stressed here to be honest, Monday night just could not sleep, was absolutely exhausted and felt so guilty for the bean all day. Went to bed really really early last night and couldn't sleep even though I'm exhausted. I just hope the bean is okay. Now that my 12 week scan is less than a week away (next Tuesday morning) I'm just finding that I'm even more worried if that's even possible. I feel so bad worrying though, it's not good for bean but it's all I can think of. Fingers crossed all is well.
