Hello everyone!

Malteser that is super duper spondulika! Huge congratulations!!

Hi Sparkly glad you're here. It's a good place to be. If I ever do get a dog it will be a greyhound, but right now I could do without the poop! My sense of smell seems to be in overdrive....

Unbuff did you decide about the puppies you brave lady?

BIG anticlimax for me yesterday at the doctors. It went exactly like this (all three minutes of it).

D: What can I do for you today?
G: Well, I'm pregnant again after my recent miscarriage.
D: Was it your first miscarriage?
G: Yes
D: Was it a first trimester miscarriage?
G: Yes
D: Have you taken a pregnancy test?
G: Yes
D: How long ago?
G: About two weeks ago. I would be 6 weeks 4
D: Well we will do another test.
Please return a urine sample to us. It must be the morning urine. We will then see about booking you to see a nurse.
G: Ok, is that all?
D: Yes. Goodbye.

Super bedside manner. Doctor did not even crack a smile, in fact I think he only looked at me once. I love the NHS.

Oh well, dutifully delivered wee this morning so I guess I will wait to hear from them.

Hope everyone is having a good week, nearly the weekend now! Hoorah!

Sarahlou8 · 06/05/2010 19:59

Gi1da You did better than me, I never saw my doctor at all! I phoned up and was told I didn't need to, just book in with the mw at 8 weeks. Nobody has ever done a pregnancy test on me, I could be lying... !!

AlbaDeTamble · 06/05/2010 21:46

Really pleased for you Malteser, long may the good news on this thread continue!

lol at your doc Gi1da, I'm like Sarahlou, GP has never checked. I was back at the GP today, saw a much more switched on chap who didn't have the private blood tests back yet (antiphospholipids, after my saga last week of finding they hadn't done the tests that I'd been told were fine), but said he'd find out -- and called me half an hour later having tracked them down to give me all the numbers and explain that it was a very clear negative. Hurrah, no need for aspirin, no last minute panic and now I just need to cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Nice to see you sparkly, hello tmt and blp sarahlou hope you're managing to stay positive, tough week, hope you get through your anniversary positively too louise -- I'm very impressed that you're only just now needing mat clothes! My work trousers are a bit tight already, but I think that's just because I've been eating too much recently ?

hope everyone's found time to vote?

I'm off to bed before I get sucked into a long night of just wanting to see the next result... (though DS has reliably woken me at 2.30am every night this week, so I can check then anyway!)

TFLS just seen as I did the list 20 weeks already! seems like yesterday that you were petrified before 12 week scan oh for the next 8 weeks to go so fast... you're half way there now, yay!!

Gi1da · 06/05/2010 22:21

Sarahlou, Alba, I was a bit bemused he insisted on doing a pregnancy test myself. The locum I saw last time just took my word for it, then looked up my dates on the internet. I wondered if there was something in my demeanor yesterday marking me out for a mad besh likely to pad my jumper out with a cushion for 6 months then steal a child from outside M&S.

I was a bit miffed that the effort I went to to get a 7am commuter appt so that I wouldn't be late for a meeting was kiboshed by the fact the doctor arrived for work 40 minutes late . I didn't actually give him my Death Stare though

Gi1da · 06/05/2010 22:23

And Alba great news on the test results. Now just sit back and relax!

Unbuffy · 07/05/2010 10:01

Hi all, so glad it all went well Teaser and v pleased for your results Alba. Oh, and welcome toomuch. Aplogies if this post goes bizarre, am at my parents' and their computer is well weird like.

Well have been lurking but didn't want any of you to catch my fantabulously awful cold wot i got. Feel sooooo like hell it sucks and cannot now eat ANY carbos safely without feeling horrid sick. Good signs, good signs I keep saying, but dunno. Sometimes feel like it's inevitable that i will lose it again despite 8 week scan and that all will go horrid wrong. That's feeling dretful for ya, brings on the pesssimism.

I hope everyone else is feeling better than wot i am. At least it's looking like we'll have puppies to cheer the summer up one way or t'other, and by then I shan't feel sick anymore - again, one way or the other. It just depends on the girl dog fancying th boy dog...

Happy weekends, all x

Unbuffy · 07/05/2010 10:02

Also i cannot spell or form coherant sentences. Sorry.

Sarahlou8 · 07/05/2010 15:40

Gi1da That made me smile! Kidnapping from outside M&S!!!

Unbuffy hang on in there, the early weeks are worrying, the later weeks are... still worrying. I hope you soon feel better, theres nothing like having a cold to make you feel all doom and gloom! Think of those luvvvverly puppies (can I have one??)

Just out of interest, do any of you visit your relevant ante natal threads (the month ones)? Or do you stay on here? I've tried to get to grips with the October thread but it's so busy and I feel like a stranger, and yet when I come on here there's loads more familiar names. Anyone the same?

Anyway, kids home from school in a mo so must dash,
love to all...

Gi1da · 07/05/2010 16:31

oh Unbuff sorry you've having such a mardy day. Being poorly is not good for the soul. I hope your folks are looking after you and making sure you keep your feet up. Hope you feel better, and cheerier, soon [big hug - though from a distance, am already worried that lurgy is awaiting me at the weekend!]

Sarahlou I've had a lurk on December to see what symptoms others were having, but have to admit that I wouldn't consider joining till everyone's in the second trimester. I know it's still not all guaranteed by then, but I just can't bear watching people go from total excitement to those awful posts of 'please remove me from the list' I cried for days after I had to do that - especially when the next post was "That's sad Gilda. Right, how's everyone else, la la la, happy happy happy..." I felt completely destroyed! Am sure that person didn't mean to pass over it so glibly but it really hurt! Is that really mean of me to avoid the early list?

Here's our list for today, my days were a little out, hope everyone else's are ok. Happy and Malteser, when are you gonna get yourselves up here? Tsk tsk!!

Just realised Jacanne is due! How exciting!

Unbuffy hope you feel better soon, you are really going through the mill with all the morning / day sickness and now the flu. Hope you feel better for the weekend.

SarahLou and Gilda - I can't face going on the December threads either.. for the exact same reason. I want to hope so much that I get to the 12 week mark and then I'll have a look..

Gilda you are right I haven't added sorry I'm being a total total scaredy cat.. I know it makes no difference but after being pushed back the week I'm just so unbelievably worried I think I'll wait until hopefully fingers crossed I make it to 12 weeks and get a definite due date and then go on the list all being well.

Goodluckbear · 07/05/2010 17:38

Afternoon ladies!!

I'm the same, I've looked at the December ante natal thread but I haven't dipped my toe in yet! I might after 12 weeks when I feel a bit more confident, but I think I'll still prefer hanging out with you ladies here who I know!

Totally understand your trepidation Happy - soon we'll be post 12 weeks and will be worrying about 20 weeks instead, can't wait

I haven't got a date for my 12 week scan yet, I'm 8 weeks now, is that weird?

Get well soon Buffster, hope you have a nice relaxing weekend being looked after. I'm off to the in laws this weekend, they always spoil me rotten - obviously haven't told them the news yet (waiting, waiting) they will be so excited.

Have a great weekend everyone else!!

xxxx

louisesh · 07/05/2010 20:32

Noi ve not ventured on to the oct sites!!!

GOODLUCKBEAR i didn t recieve the date of my 12 week scan until was about 10.5 weeks soo no don t think its odd you ve not heard anything

Hi to everyone else hope all are well X

toomuchteaching · 08/05/2010 20:03

Looked into the Jan 2010 thread before I found this one (told you I'm new) so dabbled, but don't think I'll head back until I (hopefully) get a lot further along.

Really nice reading about people's scan good news. I'm literally wishing the days away.

So, advice needed... 5 weeks today and DH is starting to hint about sex... not really sure how I feel about it, is there actually any risk of a mc? Or am I being totally overcautious? What do you ladies think?

Sarahlou8 · 09/05/2010 11:40

Good morning all, it's lovely and sunny here!

Goodluckbear I had my booking in appointment at 9 weeks and my scan was delayed until 13+4. My midwife said it takes 2 and a half weeks to get into the system, it is just very very busy around here, so I would say if you are 8 weeks you have plenty of time.

Toomuchteaching mmm, bit too early for me although technically it's probably fine, it's just after a mc it makes you ultra cautious. I had spotting and was advised to wait until 12 weeks, and certainly avoid weeks 4,8 & 12 (when a period would have been due. I did succumb at around 7 weeks ish but worried about it afterwards - I was still at the 'checking for bleeding' stage then. I'm not saying don't, just I personally wouldn't - plenty of time later

Had my midwife appointment on Thursday, everything was fine and I heard baby's heartbeat, I'm now anxious to feel any kind of movement, felt the other two at 15 weeks quite regularly, but nothing at all with this one (now 16+2)maybe it's a lovely sleeeeepy one!
Have a nice day everyone xx

Goodluckbear · 10/05/2010 11:37

Hey Toomuch - I don't think there's any probs with sex, but I know we "cooled it down" for a few weeks just so I wouldn't feel nervous - if that helps?

I got my letter about appointments - I have a scan when I'll be 13 weeks, they call it a nuchal transparency scan (I think? I left the letter at home) - is that a normal 12 week dating scan? I thought it was just called a dating scan.

barrenbrook · 10/05/2010 13:33

Hey girls, sorry for my absence, work hasn't been kind and then we went away for a few days to a wedding. Anyhoo, hope you are all well, I'm sorry for not name checking but will play catch up this aft.

I've a slight concern and was hoping that maybe you could help me put my mind at rest! Since yesterday I've had brown cm when I wipe, only a little and very mild cramping but nothing significant. The only thing that worries me more is my boobs, which were my only symptom seem to have almost stopped hurting and don't seem as swollen as they were. I'm 9 + 4 today and am now bricking it that I'm going to lose this baby too. I don't know if I can cope with losing 3!

I did do some rather over zealous jumping around to the killers over the weekend at a wedding and went to body pump this morning but aside from that I've not done much.

I've tried to get in at the local epu but they close at one and the next nearest I need a referral from my gp. I also have my booking in appointment at the hospital on weds so don't know whether to just sit it out until then! Argh! Head fuck! What to do?! Any advice, words of wisdom greatly received.

AlbaDeTamble · 10/05/2010 15:08

Hi Barrenbrook, symptoms can start to reduce from 9 weeks as placenta takes over. And spotting is not uncommon in perfectly fine pregnancies. Can you call your GP and get a referral today? Worth a try for peace of mind. Or maybe a private scan? (though they're not cheap you can generally get one same day). Hope you're ok, rest and put your feet up and listen to something calming or watch something funny to take your mind off it. Reducing stress is the most important thing by whatever means works best. I'm thinking positive thoughts for you.

GLB it's nuchal translucency, to do with fluid at the back of the neck between 11&13 wks, checks for risk of Down's. If you don't want them to check you can ask that they just do dating scan instead.

Meita · 10/05/2010 15:49

Hello ladies! (big waves all round)

Sooo we got back from our wonderful holidays last Thursday, but as I had to go to Berlin for the weekend, I'm only just catching up.

We had a great time, though I did find out that hot weather is conducive to swollen feet ... which then don't fit into flippers anymore, making snorkelling in the corals a bit less fun ... but back in cold UK, I say give me the heat anytime!

Of course, I had to go and eat something dodgy last Tuesday, which gave me a bad case of "dire rear" - travelling home, a 17-hour trip, was not fun! And then the GP who I saw for the antenatal appointment I squeezed in between trips, was all "you're pregnant and you have diaorrhea - you're not travelling anywhere tomorrow" - I had to do some serious pleading...

So, 24w (viability) has come and gone, I've heard the heart-beat for the first time (can't believe I had to wait for the 25w-appointment for that), baby is very lively and kicking a lot, and I feel good

There is no way I can catch up with everything that has been going on, you lot have been busy! But wanted to say welcome and congratulations to all newbies, and it's so good to see that the "loss"-list has not become any longer. Touch wood that it stays that way.

Jacanne - let us know how you're doing! And everybody... I hope you're all well!

Goodluckbear · 10/05/2010 15:56

transparency translucency!! Can you tell I haven't done this before...

Barrenb, could you turn up at the EPU before it opens tomorrow and get a scan? I know they don't do it everywhere, but at my nearest EPU (St Georges, Tooting) they open at 8am, start scanning from 8.30am, and it's first come first served. It sounds normal but it would be nice to have reassurance!!

Welcome back Meita!!

xx

Gi1da · 10/05/2010 19:39

Hello lovely ladies!

BarrenB sorry you're having a worrying time. Can't offer any experiential advice (never got that far!), but from all I've read it all sounds ok. Would second advice to see if you can get a scan just to put your mind at rest.

Waves at GLB and Alba

Unbuff hope you got well coddled over the weekend and are now feeling better.

Meita I've always wanted to see proper coral, as a late-comer to the thread - where were you? Sounds amazing. Hope you are feeling recovered from the dire rear!

Toomuchteaching not much bedroom action here, though a little, and no problems afterwards. Biggest problem is that I'm just too tired and can't wait to get to bed too sleep! Poor DH.

Not feeling very pregnant myself today. No particular reason, but time going very slowly and can't imagine pregnancy being anything other that a ground hog first two months. 7w+2 today. A week to go before it started going pear shaped last time. I do TRY not to think about that, but if I get past 9 weeks I'll be bloody delighted. No response yet from the docs after I delivered my wee last Wednesday. Ho hum. Maybe it IS just all in my head!! Better start staking out M&S!

Wishing you all a peaceful evening x

barrenbrook · 11/05/2010 05:57

Morning all have been at work for two hours already, see what I mean about work not being kind. And I typed a big long post at 3am in the bath this morning to press post and get a message saying the server was down for back up. How rude!!!

Anyhoo, thank you alba, sarahlou and gi1da for your kind words. They spurred me into action and snapped me out of rabbit in headlight mode. I called drs and explained my predicament to the receptionist who put a note on the computer for the dr, within 20 minutes she had rung me and told me to get my butt down to the surgery where she went to extraordinary lengths to get me referred. An hour later I was
lying on my back with a speculum up my whatsits at the hospital. All is well according to the poor man that had to have a root around up there and I have a scan booked in for tomorrow morning. fingers crossed now for tomorrow.

meita lovely to hear you had a good holiday. Hope your rear isn't so dire now

upduffybuffy hope you're a little better today too love.

hello to everyone else, sorry if I've missed anything important, t'is early and brain eye coordination has yet to start working.

boodleboot · 11/05/2010 08:22

one word...(or is it two words...anyway i dither...) MAXIDRESS!!!!....the most perfect item of maternity clothing! I look marvellous at last!! Woohoo.....Fat ankles?? Pah....can't even see my ankles now so WHO CARES!!!

i demand more sunshine!

BB my symptoms disappeared at various times over the early weeks and whilst it is terrifying i was assured it is quite normal....legs crossed for you hun. (soooo pleased to have you here with us finally that you my lady are going NOWHERE!)

Hi to everyone else, i have not really caught up cos you guys chat for england!! BUt hi to everyone and glad all seems to be going well....with the usual amount of paranoia that is our legacy it would seem!

Meita - i was secretary in your absence my dear and after the mammoth list had been attempted that i found was about 7 pages back...(you would have been HORRIFIED )i gave it the kiss of life and hasn;t it grown!!! These lovely ladies have been very good since it was resurrected tho and i think we are all more or less up to date....phew...
GLad the hols was good....we are off (volcano willing) to Salou in spain on sunday early hours for a week....cannot wait. Am big now but not hideously so altho am bigger than a usual 22wker due to the fibroid i am busy growing along side the baby....any experience of fibroids Meita? Come across anything in your studies? This one wasn't there at the twelve week scan or was so little they didn't see it but last week they saw it and it is positioned at the top of my womb 3cmx4cmx3.7cm - so quite a big lump already....hope it doesn't meant that i can't have natural labour? internet seems mixed on the chances of haemorraging caused by fibroids...

Limelight · 11/05/2010 12:04

Can I join in ladies? I've just found out I'm 'in the family way' after finding out at my 12 week scan in Jan that I'd had an MMC. It was twins and I should say that I have a not quite 3 year old DS. I've got an appointment next week but I think I'm 4+4wks which would mean I'm due in mid Jan.

So, here's the thing. I'm gobsmacked! We hadn't really been trying, because if I'm honest, I haven't quite got my head around the last pregnancy yet. It's a wonderful, lovely, and terrifying surprise. At the same time, I'm feeling very weird about the whole thing and like I'm not prepared at all. I've been rubbish since the MMC - I think I've been on a bit of a self-destruct thing. I've put on about a stone, and have been drinking like a fish. I've even had a couple of cigarettes in the last couple of months (I haven't smoked since before DS). And now I'm pregnant.

In the longterm this is a good thing I think. Better a surprise than my beating myself up about whether to try again or not. I just hope it's all ok - I completely haven't psyched myself up for this at all. And now it's here and I'm terrified.

Sorry to rant. None of you even know me!! I'm really a very normal human being. DH keeps saying to me it's going to be fine and just because I had an MC, it doesn't mean it's going to happen again. This is such a wonderful thread and it's really lovely to know there are people out there who are going through this too. You're all marvellously strong.

Hello Limelight, it's nice to have someone as new as me to all this! And I too went on a bit of a crazy one after mc, in fact I'm pretty sure my DH thought I had some kind of wine issue shall we say!

I'm still totally scared, haven't even managed to book myself an appointment yet, so you're one step ahead of me.

Thanks Gi1da, goodluckbear and SarahLou for sex advice, more welcome!

Have a good day ladies.

Hi Limelight - I remember you from before, I had a mmc in Jan too - glad to see you here, congrats!! I ate and drank like a crazy person post mc, I think it's all normal. And normal to be terrified, I know I am - still knicker checking like a loon.

Congrats again!!
