It may be a bit previous, but have done 5 tests - all positive (albeit faint lines). Am about 5 weeks. Anyone else out there who has just found out they are expecting?

Hi, everyone, im due 9th feb, feels like ive bin pregnant for ages!felt brilliant for first few months, had no morning sickness! starting to feel tierd in the past month. Having strong braxton hicks at night, getting them every 20 mins all through the night, is anybody else experiencing this?

tabitha · 30/11/2003 12:54

Hi Marne and welcome to this thread. I have been having some Braxton Hicks contractions but not regularly. According to my 'yoga for active birth' teacher they are the sign of strong abdominal muscles, which is good!

LucieB · 15/12/2003 16:23

Not long for us with Feb due dates now! Am making an effort to revive this thread as its gone very quiet. How is everyone doing? I am starting to get a lot more uncomfortable now and sleeping isn't great, especially when the baby is bouncing up and down on my bladder. Am trying to prepare ds for the arrival but at 15 months, I don't think he is really going to understand much! Best wishes to everyone and hope you have a fabulous festive season

Hi Lucie, good to hear from you again. Are you still working or have you started Maternity Leave? I'm still working and am hoping to keep going for as long as poss so that I can have the maximum time off afterwards. I'm having problems sleeping too, mainly because I get terrible pains in my legs. It's not cramp just an ache on the leg of whatever side I'm lying on. It's not agony but it wakes me up several times a night. Also, I'm feeling s@*t scared of giving birth even though I've done it three times already. Apart from that and the baby using my bladder as a trampoline as well, I'm fine. I had my works xmas do on Friday and was dead chuffed that I managed to stay awake till 11:45 pm!!! Usually I'm comotose in front of the tv hours before that on a Friday evening.
Hope that you have an enjoyable (and stress-free) Christmas.
How's eveyone else doing?

LucieB · 16/12/2003 11:51

Still working and have three weeks left - which will be a long three weeks, I can tell you!!! I also occasionally get those cramps in my legs during the night and they are painful but short-lived. Am also getting a lot of rib pain now, especially when I have been sitting down for a long period of time.
Have so much left to do between now and Christmas and between now and the baby's arrival that its getting me down a lot and its detracting from the excitment of being on the homeward stretch with no 2
Anyone else feel the same?

Having lots of discomfort and rib pain more when i'm sat up! Times starting to drag, cant wait to see my baby! Starting to worry about giving birth, doesnt help when friends tell you horror stories! Would realy like a water birth as i have heard so many good things about them! Got evrything ready now, just waiting for the big day!

jamhead · 22/12/2003 20:32

Hello everyone. Not long to go - is that good or bad?! (I'm quite scared about birth experience.) Found out today that baby is head down but round wrong side so have to start crawling around the floor etc to try and turn it. Anybody else had that?

Sounds like all the other stuff (rib pain, leg cramps etc) means we're all pretty 'normal'. Wishing you all a happy christmas with a bit of time to put your feet up.

LucieB · 23/12/2003 13:48

Marne
I know what you mean about time really dragging. I just want Christmas to be over and done with and for my leave to start so I can start focussing on this baby rather than being far too busy all the time. I have to say, my pregnancy with no 2 has been a lot more tiring and less enjoyable than it was with no 1.
Happy Christmas and New Year to everyone
Lucie

Jamhead - Sorry to butt in... I had that with Ds. He turned during my labour but not until I started pushing. It made the pushing stage a bit longer, but not much and the whole labour lasted 7 hrs.... which is quite quick for a 1st baby.

Good luck everyone!!! It could be worse.... you could have 32 wks to go!!!

jamhead · 04/01/2004 20:24

Thanks Gladtidings, 7 hours would be just fine!!

Just wanted to say Happy New Year to all February due daters. Hope things are going well.

Main words to describe my experience at the moment - uncomfortable and sleepless! Looking forward to meeting my baby though.

Anyone else due at beginning of Feb? (I'm 3/2/04)

californiagirl · 04/01/2004 23:11

Late November and early December were hard to survive, but it all worked out, even though my father almost died and we had to come back to the US 10 days early (so much for both the honeymoon and the relaxed moving schedule...)

I feel tired and gigantic, but obviously am not,
as the OB says I'm perfectly on target and everybody else thinks I'm small. (It took until 7 months for more than 25% of people to notice I was pregnant without being told, and people who try to guess still guess 5.5 months, not 7.5.) Sleep is not the rewarding experience it used to be (oh my aching hips), and neither is walking, but I can get down to the floor and back up again without big problems, which is good.

I'm getting worried about the whole birth thing, too, although I'm due at the end of February. We start classes on Thursday, unless something goes wrong with our extremely last-minute registration...

LucieB · 05/01/2004 10:54

Happy New Year to everyone! Not long to go now...I am due 17 Feb and am finishing work soon. Was so prepared for the arrival of ds but not so this time. Praying that no 2 doesn't make an early appearance
Far too much to do at work and don't have any motivation or energy left to deal with it all.
How is everyone else? Its natural to worry, Californiagirl, but don't worry too much and try and relax now as much as possible.

hooley · 06/01/2004 17:12

hello am due on 15th Feb ..does anybody know what they are having ie any old wives tales apart from the carrying low high etc ..am bursting to know at this stage ..am also huge !!

joshsmum · 07/01/2004 15:33

hello Hooley

Am due on 20th Feb and am told I am having a boy! Am carrying all out front like a big beachball. My bump seems to start really high up as well! Was very sick until about 15 weeks - couldnt keep down much except ritz biscuits and crackers (which were a godsend) - not sure if any of this is in line with any theories??

Starting to ache and feel big and fat now - babies are heavy things!!!!

LucieB · 07/01/2004 16:16

I was told at 20 weeks that I am expecting a girl. Have carried this baby in exactly the same way as ds - up high and all out the front. Have therefore had rib pain and heartburn for the past two months but no other nasty side-effects yet!
Hope everyone else is doing ok. I haven't got much longer at work now which is good.

Hi everyone. Not too long to go now. After months of saying, I'll think about it (the birth etc) after Christmas, well Christmas been and gone and d-day (Feb 4th) is looking awfully near (gulp). Went to the doctors yesterday for a routine appointment and was told that the baby's head had started to engage. I thought for 2nd and subsequent babies (this is #4) that this was meant to be much later than 36 weeks. Am starting to feel v nervous...
I'm still at work, but working? at home today - I have done some work, honest..Can't wait to finish and think I might finish slightly earlier than planned as I'm finding travelling in, when I go in, pretty dire. Apart from that I'm feeling not too bad, just bit and a bit uncomfortable.

tabitha · 07/01/2004 16:26

That should have said 'big and a bit uncomfortable'

butwhatdoiknow · 26/01/2004 22:08

Hello is this thread still going?? Or have you all dropped early? I am due early Feb, s Mumsnet-ish. Finding maternity leave a bit boring...... but like the relaxing putting your feet up bit.

Not read the whole discussion yet but will be interested to.

xx

tabitha · 28/01/2004 09:52

I'm still here. Due 4th February (but will probably be late). Started maternity leave last week and am enjoying not having to go into work but am getting a wee bit bored.
Never mind, off to clean the bathroom now...joy

californiagirl · 28/01/2004 16:38

Still here, thank goodness; I keep seeing people fretting because they haven't repainted the nursery yet at 6 months, and we own almost nothing at just over 8 months, but hey, we've almost finished moving into the new apartment, and my father's last surgery was yesterday! Now I can focus on the baby. As soon as I stop focussing on the horrible cold my husband and I both have, and on finding enough of our posessions to be able to, say, have a cup of tea.

She is still an amazingly wiggly baby, and by now strange things happen when she fiddles. Sometimes I'm visibly asymmetric. She's spine out, which is nice, but means that there are no cute little feet poking at the outside, only a big baby-butt lump in odd places.

Utka · 05/02/2004 22:56

Anyone still here?!!!

Am due Feb 10th and am feeling large and a bit apprehensive. Baby was back to spine, but has shifted round 90 degrees.

Think I'm about ready now...... how's everyone else?

LucieB · 06/02/2004 13:48

I'm still here too - due 17 Feb so a couple more weeks yet. DS was a week late so am not expecting this one to be early although you can never tell, can you? This one goes through periods of being very quiet and then being extremely active. But her head is apparently now engaged so she is running out of room.
Best of luck to everyone.

Still here. 4 days late. High blood pressure they tried to put me in hospital but I was so tearful and inconsolable it was less trouble to let me go home. ha ha.

Should still be ok for home birth if I 'produce' in time. Have spent couple of days in bed to assist in lowering blood pressure - but it could be due to INSOMNIA !!!!!!!!

LucieB · 13/02/2004 13:14

Still here - not due till Tuesday although just want it to all kick off now so am going on lots of walks with ds, despite the nagging groin and pelvic pain I am having. Had an awful gastric bug a few days ago which I thought might be the start of things but unfortunately not! This thread has gone very quiet...where is everyone?
