It may be a bit previous, but have done 5 tests - all positive (albeit faint lines). Am about 5 weeks. Anyone else out there who has just found out they are expecting?

Congratulations! Brilliant news - I am expecting in Movember so a bit further on than you but not so far on that I can relate to how you might feel in those early days (I am presuming here that you are delighted, sorry if this is incorrect or insensitive of me).

LucieB · 13/06/2003 10:07

Yep, delighted but also very cautious! Just wishing the next few weeks away and hoping that the early stages go smoothly.
Its a strange feeling - want to celebrate but obviously its too early to start telling people yet (apart from Mumsnet colleagues of course!!!) Thank goodness for this site!

Congrats LucieB.
I too am 5 weeks pregnant. Already have one child. Am finding it very hard not to say anything to anyone.

I've also changed my nickname as there are a few mumsnetters who know me. Nice to find someone else already who's at the same stage.

Talk soon

I have now done 2 boots tests and they are both showing a very faint thin blue line.My cycle has been 32 days for the past few mths, so i am not actually due until mon(32 days),what do you think, would you say i am pg as how else could i have got a blue line.

dino55 · 14/06/2003 16:38

by the way i did the test earlier than i should have done really (but i was feeling slightly sick and my boobs were, well still are aching)but im so impatient.

Mutley · 14/06/2003 20:36

According to some other threads I have read people seem fairly certain that they are pregnant if they get a faint line even before their period is due.

Folk also wax lyrical about Boots own label preg test which seems to give an earlier indication than some others.

Congrats to you Ghosty and sorry you're feeling poorly. I'm OK at the moment (was in first pregnancy too) but I won't speak too soon

LucieB · 16/06/2003 09:13

This will be my second. DS is nearly 10 months. Not feeling too bad right now but only 5 weeks so give it time! Did a Sainsburys test this morning and that was positive too and no sign of any bleeding so looks like this is it!
Congrats to everyone else joining this thread - looking forward to corresponding up to and beyond Feb 2004.

Hi LucieB what was the date of your last period? My periods are about 32 days so should i still go from the first day of my last period (16 may), does anyone know?

LucieB · 17/06/2003 09:58

You count from the first day of your last period....the due date is then calculated, taking into account your average cycle length. Websites like Babycentre have due date calculators that does all that for you!

Dino55 - I have a 31 day cycle and they calculated it by adding 9 mths + 7 days onto the date of my last period.

LucieB · 17/06/2003 10:08

Dino - try this: www.babycentre.co.uk/calendar/getinfo?_requestid=265097

Dino55 congratulations! Welcome to the latest baby thread!! ....

StripyMouse · 17/06/2003 12:29

dino55 - congratulations. Working out dates is such a complicated business I wouldn?t worry too much - if your cycle is around 32 I would use your last period day 1 as a starting date and do the add 7 days and 9 months thing (23rd Feb?), the test might just be showing up early because you have produced more hormones earlier than some or it might be that you ovulated and conceived a few days earlier than you thought. Either way don?t worry - your mw will help give a more accurate date when she measures you in a few weeks - and if necessary will send you for a dating scan.32 day cycle isn?t that over the normal legth - not comapred with some (my length varies bt.35 - 40 days on average is was a nightmare to work out!) My dates were changed by 10 days later !! (long cycle and late ovulation made the LMP date inaccurate as a dating method)
Regardless of that - congratulations!!

dino55 · 17/06/2003 20:49

Thanks for all your advice everyone.

LucieB · 19/06/2003 10:52

Have any of you got any pregnancy symptoms yet? I have been feeling tired but always feel like that so whats new!

OP posts:
naughtynoonoo · 19/06/2003 12:27

I have had some dizziness (but the doctor said this may be because of came of AD's), the only symptom I have is constantly feeling hungover, when I haven't had a boozy night since the beginning of the month. ALso when I brush my teeth I feel as though I am about to throw up - but (touch wood) nothing yet. These are the same symptoms I had with dd - so hopefully! ALso I am quite tied sort of around mid afternnon. Oh god I am going to be here all day, when I run (not very fast and not very often the bottom of my back hurts) - thats all now.

LucieB · 19/06/2003 12:31

I have days when I feel fine, and others when I feel exhausted but no nausea or breast tenderness or anything like that yet. Have done yet another test and it was definitely positive...!
With ds, I felt tired, run down and my sense of smell was really acute - so much so that I kept throwing stuff in the fridge away because I couldn't stand the smell. And that was about 6 weeks. Nothing yet, and am 5weeks + 2. Do you find you get more pronounced or different symptoms depending on the sex of the baby you are carrying?

OP posts:
naughtynoonoo · 19/06/2003 12:42

I have got a strong since of smell - on Satuday I was aware that everybody in Tesco had extremely bad b.o. - or maybe that it was been pumped out of the air conditioning system, that I walked outside and a woman was walking her dog, the dog absolutely reeked, I really thought I was going to throw up. I am now 7 weeks pregnant and according to the Baby centre calender should be suffering from constipation - I certainly didn't suffer from that the last time round, and so far it hasn't hit me - totally the opposite inface - but that is too much information to post here!! LucieB have just re-read your message - strong sence of smell - everybody is telling me I am having a boy with my symptoms - lets look back at these messages in March and see if the predictions are right - btw I would love another little girl, but will be extremely happy with whatever god throws my way - as long as he/she is extremely healthy!

LucieB · 19/06/2003 13:08

Well I had a boy last time when I had a strong sense of smell. Would love a little girl this time so fingers crossed. At the end of the day, don't really mind though...
I have been getting the opposite of constipation too and have also been feeling bloated and have had wind (hmm!!!!). No real nausea yet but have had a few headaches. Still can't quite believe I am pg - it seemed to take forever to get to this stage. Roll on 12 weeks!

OP posts:
dino55 · 19/06/2003 14:08

I also feel alittle bloated.Im 5 weeks today, my only symptom really is my boobs are tender and heavier, and i feel alittle tired on an afternoon, but thats about it.Still like my cups of tea at the moment.

naughtynoonoo · 19/06/2003 16:18

I too have very bad wind, my friend said i must have something rotten inside me - this was about a week before I found out I was pregnant - nice friends if you can get them.......

LucieB · 19/06/2003 16:33

My wind and diahorrea are getting better but tummy still feels bloated. Just waiting for the horrid symptoms to set in....

Hi everyone, I'm about 6 weeks pregnant & for the last 2 weeks have felt constantly sick & exhausted, even my 2 yr old keeps asking "Mummy, are you happy".. it's really getting me down, does anyone have any tips for nausea, as I don't think I can handle another couple of months feeling like this - I'm sorry to moan, as I know I should be happy.
Many thanks....

Ghosty · 22/06/2003 21:08

Icky ... I know how you feel. I am 8 weeks and am suffering big time from nausea. It is so debilitating isn't it? I've also got the strong sense of smell thing ... and that makes it worse ...
The only tips I can give you is to eat little and often ... I have tried everything else and nothing else works for me ... Oh ... apart from cold fizzy drinks ... that I sip. Not really sweet stuff but diet coke or fizzy mineral water with a dash of squash in it ...
hth a bit!
