Evening all

Allthe8s hang in there. I hope the spotting hasn't got any worse during the day? Let us know how the scan goes, and as MrsGazebo said, also sending sticky vibes your way. I had some spotting around the 7/8 week mark (around the time my period would have been due iyswim) and was worried but it was ok in the end. In case it's helpful (and if not, apologies for TMI ) if it's pinky/ brown coloured thats what I had too. Thinking of you and hope all is well.

No news here - but still walking like John Wayne cos the head is so low!

Allthe8s · 07/01/2010 18:31

thanks MrsGazebo & blondieminx

How you feeling MrsGazebo ?

hope things start moving for you soon blondieminx

Nothing all day, just that one little episode......and no cramps etc, fingers crossed but what will be will be, will let you know when back from hosp in mornxx

Allthe8s · 08/01/2010 15:06

Hi ladies, I know this tread is a little quiet but just in case anyone is there......

I had a scan this morn and although pregnancy is viable I am only measuring 6 weeks (7+2 today) and heart beat was slow. Sonographer was nice but honest and said it will probably end before I go back for another scan next Thursday. I am prepared for the worst having been here before but ever hopefully that this bean is taking after me (I have a slow ticker) and DD1 (who was small).........

Playing the waiting game, feels like a case of when not if.

Hop you are all doing ok xxxx

mrsseed · 08/01/2010 17:44

Been acouple of weeks since I was on here-now 10 weeks- but spent most of night awake as was getting some cramps and panicing. Turns out I was constipated! Sorted that out this morning and cramps went so here's hoping that's all its was. Have now stocked up on senacot so don't have to go through that again. Agh can't wait for scan in couple of weeks, keep getting tempted to get private scan but with all the snow unlikely to be able to get to a clinic.

mrsseed · 08/01/2010 17:54

To those that asked acouple of weeks ago I didn't get an early scan-mix up between midwife and doc then it was xmas and told that emergencies (e.g. bleeding) only. Then so much snow etc so same. So now hanging on until 12 week scan.
Sucks but there was no reason to do apparently- despite burst cyst causing last m/c- post code lottery and time of year!

Buckler · 09/01/2010 08:12

Ah Allthe i'm sorry you got mixed news keeping my fingers crossed for you x

upsoearly · 09/01/2010 09:19

Allthe8s - I'm new here but just wanted to say sorry you didn't get entirely positive news at the scan, and I do hope things are looking more hopeful next Thursday.

MrsGazebo · 09/01/2010 13:55

Allthe8's I'm ok, got a case of the "here we go again's"
Having a few days of abusing my body with coffee, soft cheese, wine and Pate!
How are you feeling?

blondieminx · 09/01/2010 14:26

allthe8s hang in there, take it one day at a time and hopefully things will work out. Sending you sticky vibes. Have you had your thyroid function tested recently? Underactive thyroid can cause babies to grow slower, I've had a couple of extra scans this pregnancy so they can keep an eye on BlondieBump for that as I do have a thyroid problem. Your TSH level should be between 0.4-2.0 (according to NHS CKS guidance) while pregnant - get the test done and ask for the actual numbers (don't just take "it's normal" from the surgery receptionist!).

MrsSeed when is your scan due now then? How annoying to have been stuck in a mix up and then caught by the weather too - rotten luck. Hope all is well, and when you do finally get to see your bubba on screen there will be lots more to see eh!

MrsG Are you ok???

to upsoearly and buckler hope you two are both ticking along?

No news from me - a few sharp twinges last night but they didn't develop into anything. Am glugging the raspberry leaf tea etc now tho cos I am so huge and uncomfortable, and just want to meet BlondieBump now. But i suspect the sensible child is waiting till the snow has gone....

MrsGazebo · 09/01/2010 14:50

Hey Blondie naahh, I'm not really, I will be though.
Had bad news Wed. Our Bean didn't make it.
Mmc discovered at 3rd scan
Bit of a shock as no signs things were not going right.

Sounds like you have a clever BlondiBump staying put, just hope things thaw around your way soon though!

Allthe8s · 09/01/2010 14:54

thanks blondie I have had tests for everything as I lost dd2 at 21 weeks in May.......thyroid and everything is normal, luckily they checked for anticardiolipids/clotting too and everything was normal. Wishing you luck with bump!

MrsGazebo just posted on the meeting up thread am doing ok, I think things may be happening already. I hope it happens speedily so I can think about the future. Enjoy your wine and cheese.......x

Hope everyone else is ok

MrsGazebo · 09/01/2010 15:08

I feel like I'm stalking you Allthe8's
So sorry you're going through this again.
It's just so bloody unfair!
Hope you've got lots of tlc and support.

blondieminx · 10/01/2010 15:48

Ohhh MrsGazebo I am so so sorry to hear that It's so frustrating and painful - I wish there was something I could say to make this better for you. Tuck into the brie and pate and wine etc and I hope you're getting lots of cuddles and support?

allthe8s hoping things are ok with you.

Still no news from Ciara then? None from me either tho....

Iris Buckler Upsoearly Panda and MrsS77 hope you are all ok?

Allthe8s · 11/01/2010 09:24

Nothing happened over the weekend except my pregnancy symptoms got so much worse and I spent most of the weekend in bed. I feel terrible again today, managed a cup of tea but it didn't stay down long and have had a few sips of sprite. I'd like to think this is a good sign but I think it might just be that tiny placenta playing tricks on me Only a few days to wait and see.

Hope all is well with all the other knicker checkers and thanks for listening xxxx

blondieminx · 12/01/2010 09:47

Hi all Allthe8s hope things are holding steady with you, good luck for Thursday.

Wonder if Ciara has had her bubba yet?

Still getting BH, back pain and periody type cramps but no show or anything ! It's thawing a bit round here so I may go out later, have been practically housebound for the last week!

blondieminx · 13/01/2010 11:24

hope all are doing well?

no proper news from me but have been down the docs this morning, all of a sudden last night I came up in an eczema-type rash on my hands, arms, bump, knees and ankles which feels like being stung by stinging nettles, SO itchy - have had blood tests to rule out obstetric cholestasis (sp?) but after being looked at by 2 docs they think it's a rare 3rd trimester complaint called "prurigo of pregnancy" - am dosed up on piriton and slathered in calamine cream.

scarlotti · 13/01/2010 13:34

Just popping in to see if any babies have arrived yet

Blondie sorry to hear you're all itchy but guess if you have to get it, better it's towards the end.

All good here, DS2 is now 2 months old and doing really well. Have just managed to get an evening routine sorted so now have my evenings back from around 7pm. Still feeding at night but he takes a bottle of ebm around 10:30 and normally then goes through until 4am so not too bad on the sleep front.

Snow causing us to be stuck indoors a lot though so hoping it thaws soon as am getting cabin fever!!

Good luck to all the new recruits in the first trimester - hang on in there as that's definitely the toughest bit.

Allthe8s · 14/01/2010 12:21

Dear ladies I hope that you are all well, any news yet blondie??

Sadly I started bleeding this morn so knew before my scan today that it was over. Letting nature do it's job now.

I wish all of you luck with your beans and am looking forward to knicker checking again soon xxxxxxx

DorsetDormouse · 14/01/2010 13:12

Hello all, I'm new to this thread , but I couldn't resist when I saw the title, I hadn't thought that so many women would be checking their knickers!
I just have to say, having read recent posts, that I'm so sorry for allthe8s and mrsgazebo. My heart goes out to you. I lost my first pregnancy at 11+5, amd it took me a long time to get over the grief.

I now have a gorgeous girl who is 14 months, and I find that I'm pregnant again (6 weeks). I'm obsessing about every twinge and hating the fact that I'll have to wait 6 weeks for a scan.
When I was pregnant with my daughter I asked my midwife if I could have a scan early to reassure me, and she told me that they didn't offer them before 12 weeks without reason. She then suggested that I lie and say that I'd been bleeding. I did this and had a scan at 7 weeks, but felt terrible whilst I was there, as it was where I had had my miscarriage diagnosed a few months before. Not sure I can lie again, but want a scan. What are the rules?

upsoearly · 15/01/2010 12:35

So sorry to hear your news allthe8s and mrsgazebo. I hope that you can give yourselves some space to grieve for what might have been and with time might feel ready to start trying again.

Welcome DorsetDormouse. I'm also new to this thread and have been reluctant to post much so far as there doesn't seem much to tell, but I saw my doctor this morning and she urged me to go to the EPU and ask for a scan even though I am not yet quite 6 weeks even. I will probably go one day next week.

I think the rules probably differ from one place to another. I also thought you couldn't just ask for a scan last time I was pregnant, and I didn't feel comfortable lying either, so ended up paying for a private scan to find out our bad news, but this time I will definitely try the local hospital. Maybe your local hospital will be more sympathetic if you explain you have previously had a miscarriage? Good luck whatever you do.

alana39 · 15/01/2010 12:57
  • ciara you haven't been around for a while are you busy baby gazing?

Very sorry to see your news allthe8s and mrsgazebo.

scarlotti · 16/01/2010 09:08

Popping in and very excited at the lack of posts from Blondie and Ciara could it be baby time for you both?!

Re early scans - with my past pg (who is now DS2 10 weeks old!) I was told that in our area you had to have had 3 m/c before you got early scans at the epu. I had 'only' had 2 so didn't qualify
We had a scan at 6.5 weeks as I'd had some spotting (from sex it turned out ) and then we paid for a private one around 8.5 weeks as we couldn't bear to wait until 12 weeks.
It was only at the 12 week scan though that the relief came over me as I knew that was the 'out of the woods' point for me.

Sorry to hear your new allthe8s and mrsgazebo

Cadmum · 16/01/2010 10:29

May I join you? I am in the paranoid-phase again...

I am 18 weeks with what might be my fifth. Spoiled rotten as we have four lovely, healthy children and this was a lovely surprise.

I have had three late missed-miscarriages (nearly 19, 13, and 16.5 weeks with twins). Rationally, I know that worry will not make any difference but I have a scan on Wednesday and I doubt that I will sleep until then. I hate finding out at a scan that there is no heartbeat...

Everything was fine at a scan done at 15 weeks but I have been down this road before as everything was fine with my first miscarriage as well. The second two were the booking-in appointments.

I borrowed a friend's fetal doppler thinking that it would provide reassurance until Wednesday but I can't find the heartbeat. I keep thinking that I 'might' feel movement but then I wonder if it is wishful thinking. I am symptom spotting and wondering if this is the beginning of the end.

Tis horrible to be in this state. Thank you in advance for any virtual hand-holding.

sakura28 · 16/01/2010 10:50

Hi everybody,

I have been lurking for the past week after a BFP at 4 weeks a week ago. This is after 2 mc's last year. I have been incredibly (cautiously) happy, but this morning noticed a little bit of blood, did another test and it was negative. Any words of advice would be really welcome now, I really hope its my rubbish cheap test but am fearing the worst.

Have also found from my docs that b'cos I didn't do a positive pregnancy test before the 2nd mc, they won't count it as a mc! Eeven though I bled for 5 weeks. So that is another worry....

Thanks for reading and congrats to all who have had/in the midddle of healthy pregnancies, reading your stories does give me hope!
xxx

upsoearly · 16/01/2010 19:18

I had a scan this morning after some spotting yesterday. I'm 5 wks 6 days at the moment and they could see a pregnancy sack and a yolk but no embryo or heartbeat or anything.

I honestly think I've miscarried again and was hoping to find out one way or another today but I was told it's too early to be sure and I have to go back when I'm past 8 weeks.

Googling seems to suggest that the majority of people do see a heartbeat at this stage... Or am I being overly pessimistic? Don't know if i can stand waiting another 2 and a half weeks.
