Upsoearly sorry you're going through this, but from what I remember reading on MN that seems quite early for a heartbeat? It is so hard waiting to find out, really feel for you.

Ciara11 · 18/01/2010 13:18

Firstly sorry to hear of the disappointing news on the thread, it is very difficult, i know i went through it twice before finally becoming pregnant again and the little one staying.

Alana is right, it is a little early for a heartbeat, so fingers crossed.

I am feeling for you all on this thread.

Big hugs to all

Ciara11 · 18/01/2010 14:04

Secondly, my news

Nicholas Peter was finally born on saturday 9th January at 10.14am weighing 9lb 13oz

I started having contractions on wednesday 6th Jan at 4.15am and because of the snow we went in and got it checked out and were told waters hadnt broken, so went home. That night my waters seemed to break a bit but not much, again got it checked out but was told they hadnt broken.
Then spent all day thursday having irregular contractions but nothing else.
Friday morning, i had my normal midwife appointment and was told my blood pressure was up (not surprising bearing in mind i had been having contractions for over 2 days) and i had protein in urine.
So again went back into be checked and was told that my hind waters had broken on wedensday night and therefore cause no further forward, still only 2cm dilated and been more than 24 hours since waters broke, i would need to be induced

I was then induced (and chose an epidural) and for the whole of friday evening and night was having contractions but i only dilated to 3cm, so in the end on saturday morning Nicholas was born by cesaerian (sp) section at 10.14am.

I was in hospital for a couple of days and came home last monday and have been recovering from section.

Nicholas has now been over a week and is doing well, i am combining bottle and breast feeding as he eats so much, being such a big boy.

What a story eh?

Ciara fabulous news and welcome to the world Nicholas Peter!
Ioan was big too (9lb 8oz) so we started on formula top ups as well as bf. He's now exclusively bf so if you want to move towards that it is feasible.
Hope you recover ok and aren't too sore from the section.

Blondie where are you??!

Allthe8s · 19/01/2010 13:36

Congratulations Ciara11 x

alana39 · 19/01/2010 16:27

Ciara great news congratulations .

Blondie?

MrsGazebo · 19/01/2010 16:30

Huge Congratulations Ciara11!
Well done you!
Welcome to the world Nicholas Peter. xx

Sakura28 Any news? Have you done another test?

upsoearly keeping everything crossed for you, how you doing?
Have you had any bloods done to see if your hormone levels have risen?
It's worth asking to put your mind at rest.

Good luck with your scan tomorrow Cadmum everything crossed for you too!

mrsseed · 22/01/2010 13:26

I feel so bad for those that join this message thread for only a short time but am always bolstered by hearing of those who are successful knickercheckers.
I have my 12 week scan on wednesday so fingers crossed, however couldnt wait a couple of weeks ago and went a bought a cheap doppler. Today tried for second time and yippie found a heart beat - took a while and lost it again fairly quickly - to be expected at this age and cheap kit I guess. But it was there. Suddenly feel a weight lifted (well partially until wed anyway).
Problem is husband doesnt know I bought one and not sure how to tll him! I know I have to as he is concerned too and I will muddle through it!

upsoearly · 22/01/2010 13:36

Am feeling a bit more optimistic now as I have been feeling quite sick the last 3 days or so. However the next few days will be tough as I am just approaching 7 weeks, and I know that is when the embryo stopped developing last time around.

No-one has suggested blood tests unfortunately so I think I will just have to sit tight until my scan appointment at 8 and a half weeks. 10days would normally seem like nothing, but right now I think it will feel a lifetime...

Good news about finding a heartbeat mrwsseed! Good luck for the can on weds

Congrats to Ciara = always great to hear success stories!

jen6jen · 22/01/2010 18:44

hi upsoearly...ive had 4 mcs and 3 healthy children...im now 24 wks with a little boy. i started 2 bleed the day b4 my period was due and carried on bledding until i was 11 wks...i had a scan at 5 wks and there was nothing showed up at all. i was told by docs tht they dnt usually see a heartbeat until 6 wks at the earliest. i went in at 6 wks and there was a sac on the screen. the mw said it cud have been either a yolk sac or a sac of blood, they werent sure. i went back a wk later at 7 wks and tht was the first time they saw a heartbeat so try nt 2 worry. xxx

Cadmum · 26/01/2010 00:12

Quick update:
Basically, there was not heartbeat at the 19 week scan on Wednesday. The consultant 'guessed' that the loss had been within the last 10 days. I was sent up to the hospital to confirm the diagnosis (as this is the law here) and to determine if an induction was possible as the placenta was known to be low-lying. Several hours later and still no answer I was sent home and asked to return to see the head of obstetrics the following morning.

The diagnosis was a proper placenta-previa which makes a vaginal deliver impossible. His prognosis was bleak as he encouraged me to consider a hysterectomy rather than risk the cesarean. I felt strongly enough that this was not the right option for me that he was willing to 'try' the section first.

I am eternally grateful that the op. went well and that the care I received was compassionate and professional.

The baby was a boy. We named him Timothy and held a small service for him at the hospital. I was most impressed with our dcs as they all opted to see him.

I don't suppose that we will ever know for sure what caused this loss but this is # 4 for us during the second trimester.

I wish you all every success. Being in the knicker-checkers brigade is not something I would ever wish on anyone. You are all very brave!

Congratulations Ciara11! jen6jen: All the best with the rest of your pregnancy.

upsoearly: May the time go quickly and the news be great! I too think that 5 1/2 weeks is a bit early to expect a heartbeat.

mrsseed Thank goodness for finding the heartbeat. I had a doppler with dd2 and found it very reassuring but never really figured out what I would have done if I couldn't find the heartbeat... This time around, I had borrowed a friend's cheaper one and when I couldn't find the heartbeat I didn't know if I should worry or consider it a technological failure.

MrsGazebo Thanks for asking after me. How are you coping? You have been through so much. I am very sorry about your losses.

Sorry for the novel...

MPuppykin · 26/01/2010 00:29

Oh Cadmum. So sorry. ((hugs)))

Ciara11 · 26/01/2010 13:11

Sorry to hear that cadmum

Peers around looking for Blondie

mrsseed · 27/01/2010 11:12

I have a good news thread - I had a 12 week scan today and all looks good, apparently I am smiling for the first time in weeks. I am now confident enough to update the air passengers list! After 2 M/C it looks like they were just 'bad eggs' and this one is a goer (or stayer!)

So sorry to hear your news Cadmum. Hope you are getting lots of support from family.

Congrats mrsseed - what a milestone!

I'm now 7 weeks 3 days but I had some more bleeding yesterday - red blood this time - and convinced myself that it was the beginning of the end again.

No more bleeding today yet, but not feeling optimistic. I did wonder about going for another scan, but I really don't want to hang around the hospital for hours with DD if I can avoid it, and I have an appointment in a week's time, so think I will try to stick it out until then...

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 27/01/2010 14:11

Congrats Mrsseed, good to see a new name on the list.

Ciara sorry to have missed your news! Welcome Nicholas Peter! 9lb 13oz! What a big lad. Hope to see you over on the graduates thread soon (although be aware that it moves very slowly now we all have our hands full) xxx

So sorry to read of your loss Cadmum - x

MsJL · 28/01/2010 10:52

Can I join you ladies please?

I am just 5w and had 2MC last year. I noticed a tiny amount of blood-stained discharge yesterday and more today. I feel so stressed. I have blood-test tomorrow and again on Sunday. I just want it all to be ok this time. Such a stupid and obvious thing to say I know.

God luck to you fellow knicker checkers. I need company, i can't bear it. x

iwishuponastar · 28/01/2010 13:07

Hi ladies, I would like to join this thread. I am currently 5wks+4days, I have had 3 previous m/c my 1st m/c was with twins my 2nd they said was a blighted Ovum and my 3rd Oct 09 was a mmc which I found out at my 12wk scan. I had some investigations carried out Dec 09 but don't get the results till next week. I started to take baby asprin from my BFP and the nurse has advised I carry on with this. I have had pink discharge on & off since last week which got heavier last night and this morning. I havent had any blood stained discharge. I feel so stressed and just don't no what to do. I called the EPU to see if I could get my progesterone levels & HCG levels checked but the nurse said that it wouldnt proove anything but I have to wait another week before I get scanned because I am too early at this stage and they wouldn't see a heart beat. Unless I got red blood appear then to contact my GP.

MsJL I feel the same, I feel I can't bear it but I am glad of this thread. I hope everything is ok with you.

blondieminx · 28/01/2010 15:37
