*cheepz it'll be no time at all til we steal you from the ttc thread. having bounced between the two i know how you feel...

boodle same as hoops etc says, its a good sign, youve seen a heartbeat so the babs is just busy taking EVERYTHING off you

well stupid face here decided to take a clearblue indicator. i should be 5+2 so it should have come up 3+ weeks but it came up 2-3. I'm so annoyed at myself for wasting money and time giving myself doubts.

As i said to a friend this morning, its not that i am thinking negatively to try and protect myself, i just cannot imagine this going well after everything i've been through..

well thats all from me, off to dublin now, my nanna only has little while left so i want to be with her ..

thefatladyscreams · 29/01/2010 10:56

Hi all

Hoops - lovely to think of the grads keeping an eye on our progress on the TTC thread.

Lee - can't believe you have the same dates! I'd probably be honest about your LMP but explain the late ovulation. And then put up with the inevitable comments that you are not as far along as they'd expect . How's your gran doing?

What's this about a ww thread? I'm very conscious about my weight though oddly enough I lost weight when pregnant last year. Not I hasten to add through dieting - just because I cleaned up my diet and the weight fell off natually. Bit with myself for not loosing any between then and now but can't change what's happened.

Boodle - bet I'm fatter than you! Another one here who thinks the sickness is a good sign - but sorry you're going through it.

Did laugh at your post meita - they say be careful what you wish for!! When is your scan - from memory about a week away?

Cheepz - you don't get rid of any of us that easily my dear!

Thanks for the stickey vibes Jacanne.

Hope you're doing OK if you read this Apples.

Totally - can't believe you're due within a month. That's been a real source of hope and inspiration on the TTC thread.

Just started to feel sick. Instead of feeling hungry, I go straight to feeling sick which makes for a very irritable TFLS demanding that dinner appears from nowhere immediately!

Also slept really badly all this week - not sure why so feeling pretty wiped out. Finding it hard to get motivated to work - just want to Mumsnet instead...

thefatladyscreams · 29/01/2010 11:01

Crossed posts with meita and lee.

Hope your time with your nanna is really special Lee.

Don't worry that the test didn't show 3 weeks plus. I read a thread on here where a midwife said the dates are not as accurate as Clearblue make out and that they were the bane of midwives' lives as they scared everyone when the reading didn't move on as you'd expect. Money is annoying though!!

Meita - I'll get the grapes in! Only 4 days to go - blimey. Hope they fly past.

Meita · 29/01/2010 13:57

lee I did that too - used my last CBD when I figured I was either 4+6 or 5+1 (not quite certain about my dates). Was so disappointed when it said "2-3" ... a 3+ would have made things clear. Now I still don't know the dates for sure as it could just as well have been a bit imprecise. But then again. This whole malarky is not really a precise business at the best of times, is it.
You should have told us to shout at you BEFORE you did it . Not much use anymore now, is it?
Wishing you a calm time with your Nanna.

TFLS sleeping badly - sure sign that you are, really, honestly, pregnant. In case you still had any doubts .

thefatladyscreams · 29/01/2010 14:11

Meita - is it? Hadn't heard that one.

Hope it goes away soon - I'm exhausted. Also getting very cold at night. I've never had poor circulation before and wondered if it could be pregnancy related? Finally bringing myself to use the "P" word!!!

thefatladyscreams · 29/01/2010 14:14

Just had a quick google meita and found the below. Thanks for solving that mystery.

"Early on in your pregnancy, you'll probably start to feel very sleepy during the day. Your sudden craving for a nap is caused by the newly raised levels of progesterone, which is normal during pregnancy. This female hormone helps to regulate your reproductive cycle. The presence of progesterone can make a normal day at work seem as taxing as running a marathon; you may be so worn out that you may even think you're coming down with the flu.

Though progesterone makes you feel drowsy, it can also disrupt your sleep at night, leading to even more fatigue the next day."

hoops997 · 29/01/2010 14:28

TFLS I had really cold feet during the whole first trimester only at night though , drove my DP up the wall when I put them on him during the night!! Also slept awfully, I had to keep getting up and would read a book/watch tv til I felt sleepy again.

thefatladyscreams · 29/01/2010 14:39

Thanks hoops - will just have to steal the heat from DH at night!

Meita · 29/01/2010 15:41

TFLS I didn't know the science behind it... tbh I was just writing from experience and from what others have said. I thought the not-sleeping-well bit was probably mostly down to nerves

But now thanks to your quote: I have been sleeping badly again recently and very tired during the day. Perhaps that's down to progesterone levels taking another leap when the placenta takes over production at around week 12? That would be an indication that I can now ease off the lady's mantle tea. Excellent news (am very fed up with it) so thanks lots!

Meita · 29/01/2010 15:43

Oh and yes it does sort of go away. Probably at around the time when the sickness gets really annoying.

LeeWT · 29/01/2010 16:27

Oooh yay I'm sleeping really badly too!!!!

down with nanna now, hospice reckon it'll be soon. It sounds so strange but my nanna taught me everyhing I know about life and I feel like I won't have a base when she's gone.. Maybe feeling hormonal doesn't help..

Sticky stick thoughts! X

boodleboot · 29/01/2010 17:13

Lee - you may not have a base, but your Nanna has taught you to be a base for Ella....what a remarkable legacy. I'm praying for you both hunny.

i am cold, hormonal, sleep deprived also thus very ratty and just paid 1167 in tax to the taxman for some assessing work i did last year....i hadn't saved the money and have just obliterated my bank accounts overdraft. This is really not good. DH is gong to be pretty mad....

i need hagen daaz.

Meita · 30/01/2010 18:12

Hi all, I hope you're all having a great weekend and making the most of the sunshine! Though it's crazy cold, isn't it?

Persuaded DP do go to the neighbouring town with me to windowshop at Mamas&Papas... Explained to him that we amongst us know nothing about things like cots and buggies, so we'd best start smartening up about 21st century babyware. Once there, we found that it was the second-to-last day of the January sale. So we actually bought something Just two maternity tops for me, nothing baby-related. At 25% of the original price they were quite a deal!

We had a good giggle at the "snap-on" bump in the changing room - had no idea that such a thing existed! It was scary, how I looked when I put it on. Pregnancy is freaky! It completely takes over your body!

Anyhow, three days to go. Hope I didn't jinx anything by buying stuff before the scan .

Pass over the Haägen Dasz when you're done with it, wouldn't you boodle?

boodleboot · 31/01/2010 16:17

urgh i feel dratted today....have done some housework so at least don't have the guilt of looking around at a messy house....my cheeky daughter had written 'clean me' in the dust on my sideboard..... - i handed her a duster and said sh had better obey the instruction written in the dust....ha, she has been very helpful today....i'll give her that

off to clean the bathrooms now.....really not looking forward to it as toilets make me retch at the min.....wish me luck...

hope you are doing ok lee - i saw ur FB update....glad your nanna went peacefully.

meita i'm sure you haven't jinxed anything hun....natural to feel like that tho....i feel less pregnant today than i have so far and that has made me feel a bit panicky...boobs don't seem as sore, sickness there but not unbearable like yest....i wish i had my own scanning machine....

OP posts:
thefatladyscreams · 31/01/2010 17:38

Hi everyone

Boddle - LEAVE THAT HOUSEWORK ALONE! You are making me feel guilty by proxy when I look at my tip. Symptoms will come and go - bet you'll be regretting that comment tomorrow when the MS resumes with a vengeance . Still haven't finished my tax return - aghhhhhhhhhhhh.

Lee - from reading boodle's post, so sorry to hear about your nanna. It's hard no matter how expected it is. My granny died years ago but I still often chat to her (DH looked very puzzled when I first told him this when we were first together). Hope you're OK.

Meita - your post had me in stitches. Oh my God - a snap on bump??? You can tell I'm another first timer! I think I would have run a mile. Glad you can give up the lady mantle's tea. You won't have jinxed anything at all - just helped the retail economy a little so putting some good karma out there Roll on Tuesday.

I'm feeling so so today. Been tired most of the weekend, the coldness hasn't gone and getting slightly nauseous. Just hate the waiting. Also my acupuncturist has warned against having really hot baths which I love (not fair!)

amyboo · 01/02/2010 07:59

Blimey - it's a busy old place on here at the moment! It's so nice to see all the new people from the other thread. Hello to everyone - sending you lots of sticky vibes..

I can't believe I'm now 31+3. Only another 6 mmore weeks of work to go and I can't wait! We finally bought the pushchair and carrycot this weekend - a lovely Maclaren Techno XLR that fits into our appartment hallway nicely, and into the boot of our smallish car. So, everything's ready - I just need baby to turn up (although not yet!).

Have another scan on Friday to check this kidney dilation thing. Hopefully everything will be OK. I understand that as long as I have lots of amniotic fluid there's nothing to worry about as that means his kidney is working properly. Fingers crossed. I'm hoping he's turned as well, as 4 weeks ago he was still transverse. I've been feeling my bump trying to figure out what position he's in, but I've no idea!

boodleboot · 01/02/2010 10:15

yikes....have some very worrying symptoms today. off to docs at 11.30. I have numb right side of face and right eyesocket, sharp pain in ribs, ridiculously breathless, sore neck and really bloated and swollen hands....not your average 1st trimester symptoms so straight to doc to get him to assess....

OP posts:
Meita · 01/02/2010 11:04

boodle oh dear, that does sound worrying! Not necessarily pregnancy related, but still!
Make sure you mention all symptoms to the doctor. (Perhaps write a quick list?) Don't leave out the sore neck. Is it perchance a bit stiff as well as sore? Make sure they take you very seriously, and if they don't, take yourself to A&E. These are the sort of symptoms that might be nothing, but might be pretty serious too. If it is serious, time is essential.

Take care of yourself. I'll be thinking of you.

It might well be nothing serious. It could be an unlucky combination of unrelated stuff... At about 6 weeks I had a strange numbness issue too. My tongue, lips, and one hand and arm went numb; and later I got a headache. But it went away after about 30 minutes and when I discussed it with the GP later, we decided it was probably some sort of migraine-thing (I get migraines with neurological issues (reduced sight) quite regularly)).

Meita · 01/02/2010 11:18

TFLS By the by, I used hot water bottles at the bottom of the bed against cold feet, all through weeks 5-8. Now however it's different: Although it's objectively very cold, at night I'm always hot and sweaty, pushing the duvet away and opening the window, whilst DP complains of freezing! So no, it's not forever .

Lee I hope it's not being all a bit too much for you at the moment. Remember to give yourself some relax and recovery times.

amyboo sounds like you're getting baby-proofed . The kidney thing must be a constant worry. But as you said, there's all chances it will be alright.
Well, that's what midwives are for, isn't it? To know how to feel what position your baby is in

totally any news?

Me: one day to go.

boodleboot · 01/02/2010 17:55

After a five hour trip to AE to rule out a blood clot turns out it was a combination of migraine for the face related numbness {amd crashing headache that started}, raised white blood count indicated an attack of gastritis {inflamation of the stomach lining}and i have pulled a diaphragm muscle from the constant vomiting.....

HCG levels were checked today and were at 115000 which is right for 8wk preg so hopefully bubba is doing ok....

phew. off to bed now as feeling dire.

OP posts:
thefatladyscreams · 01/02/2010 18:44

Boodle - so pleased to hear it was nothing more serious (not disregarding the fact that that is quite a list!) No wonder you feel dire. Glad you posted as was worrying about you earlier. Take care.

Meita - funnily enough I've used a hot water bottle the last two nights and it's helped - thanks. Still permanently cold - at least being hot will be cheaper on the heating bill! Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Amyboo - sounds like the scan went well. Hope the kidney concern isn't niggling away too much at you. Thread is so busy as all these newbies can't shut up!

Lee - hope you're holding up OK?

Had run out of folic acid tablets so went to buy some earlier. Found myself quibbling at buying a packet of Pregnacare tablets as it contained 2 months' supply. The doom-monger in me was struggling to believe that I will still be pregnant in 2 months time. I would really love to be a glass half full person

Meita · 01/02/2010 18:49

boodle, glad to hear you're ok and thanks for updating!

Make sure you get plenty of rest! I often feel really zonked the day after a migraine, and I suppose the combination with other stuff won't make it easier.

To cheer you up: After my pregnancy-migraine episode, it never came back (so far). So there's all hope that this will remain a one-off.

LeeWT · 01/02/2010 22:17

hi all, sorry i havent been on in a while,

As you know, my beloved nanna died peacefully yesterday morning to the tunes of Frank Sinatra. It's hard to describe to people who havent known her just what a personality she was. she could drink any of us under the table, drank a few pints of guinness in the local most nights, loved jazz, swore like a sailor and was the best thing ever to happen to me as she always looked after me. I'm gutted she's gone and that i can never talk to her again and it was very very hard being pregnant and hormonal and vulnerable when people dont know. But I asked her to look after my baby and hopefully she is..

I was supposed to have a scan this thursday but that's the day of the funeral mass so they next appointment they could give me wasnt until the following Thursday (my nanna's birthday) lets hope its lucky!

boodle thank god i read about your trip to the emergency room at the same time as your next post to say everythings ok.. what a worry and thats great news about your hcg levels..

meita i will be SITTING on the laptop to hear how the scan goes. you are much less of a pushy bitch than I as i would have pounded the doors of the epu down before now. everything crossed for you honey!

tfls how are you honey? how are your symptoms? so far mine are tiredness and sore boobs, the rest i cant tell apart from everything else that's happening. i had an internet cheapy left and did it this afternoon and the test line was nearly as dark as the control so hope that means something good!

amy and totally congrats on being third trimester (and anyone else who is too) what better inspiration and hope for us!

Cheepz · 01/02/2010 22:36

hoops997 · 01/02/2010 22:43

lee sorry to hear about about your nanna, glad she passed peacefully and I'm sure she is looking after mini-lee just as DP's grandad is looking after mini-hoops......xx

Good luck for your scan tommorrow meita fingers, toes and everything else crossed for you.

I have an ante-natal appointment tomorrow, it will be nice to listen in to heartbeat and be told he is still tranverse cause I know he is!!

Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly boodle and hope that you are better soon
