I'm 36 weeks and so bloody fed up now. Fed up of not being able to get comfortable, needing the toilet every 30 minutes and most of all people asking me how long to go, "ooh haven't you popped yet?", "It could be another 6 weeks yet if you go over". ARGH!!!!!

So I thought I'd start a thread for all us pregnant ladies who are fed up of waiting. I know there was one a few weeks ago but I couldn't find it.

Congratulations mad4mybaby!!

I've also had my baby! I gave birth to DD2 on friday night at 11.59pm. I couldn't be happier right now I really wasn't expecting to go into labour 2 days early, I'd convinced myself she was going to be really late!

Good luck to everyone else still waiting.. your babies will be here soon!

mabel1973 · 23/11/2008 07:55

Fabulous news Mad4 and Jennysmummy - well done!

Good luck today Mabel.

mabel1973 · 23/11/2008 17:50

HI guys.

had my sweep this morning. Midwife said that although my cervix is very soft, it is still quite long, so she would be surprised if it happens today. I guess she could be wrong, but apart from a bit of lower back ache and some cramps, i have had nothing, not even a show, so I am not holding out much hope.
I have got another one booked for wednesday.
I did promise DH that he'd get tommorow off work as well!

mabel1973 · 23/11/2008 17:52

just noticed babylove hasn't been on since fri...i know she was due about the same time as me, so fingers crossed for her...

kayzisexpecting · 23/11/2008 19:20

Sorry nothing is happening yet Mabel.

Ooooh You could be right about Babylove.

Still nothing here. He'll probably come on time so I have about 3 weeks still.

Hey Everyone

STILL PREGNANT - ARGH! Thanks for wondering whether i was on my way though

Not only am i p'd off i'm still pregnant, not only am i in so much pain with my pelvis but last night i pulled a ligament in my hip - means i can barely walk now. Cant really do anything - am miserable, even more so!

Kay - anymore contractions?

Mabel - you have the awkward inlaws too!!! I've got to see midwife on Tues for normal 40 week check up, am going to ask for a sweep too - heard they're painful though.....I'm not looking forward to my apt because she is going to gloat that my baby didn't come early like i expected.

Mad - YAY! Congratulations!!!!! So happy for you! Whats the trick to the fast birth?!!!!

Jenny - WOOHOO! Well done!!!! Glad everything went well!!!

kayzisexpecting · 23/11/2008 21:17

Nope no more contractions. I think baby is just winding me up. I've ordered some Clary Sage though and I'm hoping when it comes it will help.

babylove123 · 24/11/2008 11:29

Well today is my official hospital due date which means that indeed, my midwife gets to gloat about how my baby hasnt come early - grrrrrr.

However DP knows i am anxious of my apt 2morro coz im going to ask for a sweep so hes booked the time off to come with me - bless - hes actually done something right in the last 3 weeks!

Had my washing machine engineer out this morning - i should of known my run of bad luck wasnt done yet! Turns out there is no power in the water hoses so whatever does that needs to be replaced - GREAT. Even better though is the Servis who is the maker of my machine apparently went bust 2/3 weeks ago - so parts arent easy to get hold of. FANTASTIC! Earliest if they even get a part will be next week, if they dont, i'll have to inform the insurance and get the money and buy a new machine. How shite is this?! As if i needed this now!

Booked a reflexology session for 2morro afternoon, £35 - ouchie! Still, if it gets her out! Worth a shot! However im really embarressed about my feet - they're not the nicest. In my old job i was on my feet for 11 hours non stop a day and they've been ruined by this. I've tried everything to get them smooth and supple again but it doesnt help. Will obviously wash, scrub etc before i go 2morro but i hope i dont feel too embaressed.

aeonchix · 24/11/2008 12:20

I am 39+5 today this is if I'm counting correctly. I'm due on 4th Dec and the baby's head hasn't engaged!!!!!!!!

I've no idea what i should do now.

lecohen · 24/11/2008 14:42

Hi aeonchix...I am due 6/7 dec and I am 38 weeks + 2 days so that would make you 38+4.

Don't worry that baby is not engaged yet (mine isn't either I don't think)...is this your second (or more) as this is common with subsequent babies - often only engages in labour.

Is it in the right position though?

mabel1973 · 24/11/2008 15:17

hi all

still here.....
have chronic lower back pain and constant tightenings since my sweep, just not going in to labour...

good luck with the reflexology babylove...£35 is a bit steep. I paid £22 for mine, but she just does it part time (although is fully qualified), i know at our local salon is is more like £30. I wouldn't worry about your feet, they will have seen much worse. ine aren't the prettiest, and when you're preggers it's so hard to reach them that you struggle to take care of them anyway!
Sorry about your washing machine. I know these days a lot of engineers don't seem to think its worth repairing them these days.

Good luck for your sweep as well, I hope you get it, i can't see why not, as you are now overdue. It is more uncomfortable than painful, you will get a bit of cramping, but nothing like what you've got to come !!

babylove123 · 24/11/2008 16:09

Hey

Right - thats the house insurance sorted, its all done now, bar taxing the car 2morro. Do you think she'll come out now?!!!! lol

Aeon - i agree with lec, is this your 2nd or more baby? They do engage later on.

Mabel - oooh the backache is a good sign! Hope it continues on and you get a lot more pain hehe thats not being mean - just means your baby will come out! I'm a bit nervous about the reflexology 2morro, am worried i'm pinning some hope on it working and it probably not! My clary sage hasnt come this morning - grrrrr! I washed my feet in radox today (shut the door to enhale all of the clary sage ) and scrubbed them with the pumice and then lashed a load of cream on them to try and make them a bit softer! Am still miffed about my machine - i have done up a bag of washing to take to my poor mums! Havent picked the last lot up off her yet!

Annabellemary · 24/11/2008 16:30

Hello, can I join in?

I'm similar to you Mabel1973, am 6 days over and had a sweep today but although the cervix is soft it is still long so baby not on its way yet!

Have got another sweep booked for thursday and if not then induction on sunday. Had to be induced with dd1 so kind of figure that this will be the same.

Have tried Raspberry leaf tea, speed bumps, curry just about every night but can't face the other due to barely being able to walk let along anything else! having said that the midwife today did encourage it so might give it a go - think the dp has got his hopes up and if it does work it will be worth it!! Wonder how many it does work for though?

kayzisexpecting · 24/11/2008 16:36

My friends mum is a MW and she tells her ladies who are overdue to have a spicy curry, followed by chocolate truffles and a glass of champagne and that's followed by sex.

Apparently the truffles and champagne don't do anything but they make you feel better if it doesn't work.

OP posts:
Annabellemary · 24/11/2008 16:38

I say, a glass or two of champagne might make it a bit more likely!!! I'll text hubby the suggestion!

babylove123 · 24/11/2008 21:22

Hey

Anna - Not just my DP who lives in hope then!!!!!

Kay - Hahahaha, thats so funny! Can i just have the truffles and champagne?!

Well it is 2 hours 38 minutes till my due date expires so to speak - no bloody baby. What is she trying to do to me?!

mabel1973 · 25/11/2008 10:04

hi
still here....
anabelle - welcome!
i am so fed up....it is like the worst pmt x 1000.
i feel like i could kill anybody who dares to speak to me.....

i'm all for the champagne and truffles! bring it on.
had a slight show this morning, but nothing major.

Enjoy your reflexology today babylove

mabel1973 · 25/11/2008 13:03

my mum has told me to take castor oil as 'that's all we had in my day'

i think i'll pass.....

babylove123 · 25/11/2008 15:18

Hi,

Went to see the midwife today. Asked for a sweep - my god i've never been in so much pain! She wasnt the gentlest person in the world, DP watched in horror and was squirming with the thought of how much pain i was in! Phew, never want that again. She said that obv it could cause a show - well, i panicked coz she had blood on her glove but not too much. Came home and went for a wee 30 mins later and found i'd soaked a panty liner in blood and when i wiped (sorry if too much info) - it looked like i was on my period! I panicked of course, and rang the surgery. Spoke to a diff midwife who said not to be alarmed, some bleed more than others and to keep an eye on baby movements and if i have too much more blood then to ring the hospital. Shows how rough she was!!!!!

Anyway, she told me that my cervix is v posterior, softening 1cm long, just tipped and baby head 3cm about ischial spines. Means diddly squat to me so i've googled it all! Can see the posterior bit isnt good however the 3cm head and 1cm softening is a good start - woohoo, better than nothing!

Have got my reflexology in just over an hour - bit nervous. Better go and scrub my feet again!

Clary sage has turned up too, havent had chance to bump rub it yet, will do when i get back!

Annabellemary · 25/11/2008 16:12

Hello, well - didn't get any champagne unfortunately but did try the sex. Anyway, woke up really uncomfortable about 4am and had a show at about 5am followed by period type pains (these are apparently caused by prostin - the hormone/chemical in sperm that is the same as they use in the pessary to start you off).

Anyway, nothing else happened all day but now getting really strong type pains in my stomach, these have been on and off all day. I did ring the ward but they weren't too concerned and said that if the pains become regular/more painful then to ring back. I don't know how painful is painful enough to ring so i've had two painkillers and will see if they stop or continue. Nurse also suggested sex again tonight

mabel1973 · 25/11/2008 18:28

babylove - sorry to hear your sweep was so painful! It sounds like she gave you a good one.... which is good in some ways, I guess it's more likely to start things off.
I didn't get any bleeding from mine on sunday, so just shows how effective that was.

Ananbelle - sounds like something could be happening. You will know if they are painful 'enough' !!! I think normal painkillers don't touch proper contractions, so that will give you an idea.
I remember being in labour as feeling similar to when you get a really upset tummy and feel like a tightening and spasms across your stomach...only much worse.
Good luck...hopefully it might be tonight!

kayzisexpecting · 25/11/2008 19:34

I'll keep my fingers crossed Annabelle!! Hopefully it won't be much longer for you.

The baby has his bum right in my ribs and it is so uncomfy and painful. I would really like him out asap!!
