We've now filled up the last thread - and the two before that! Seems that there are a lot of us old girls out there getting ourselves into trouble

So - if you've just found yourself to be with child or have a LO and you've hit (or about to hit - we'll let you sneak in just under the radar!)the big 4 0, then come say Hi!

There is always a spare comfy chair - plenty of cake and many old ladies to listen to your moans! Think of the lovely ladies knitting shreddies - only we're not sporting a blue rinse, but wearing cashmere and kitten heels

Hello regular ladies. I avoided putting FAT, F*cked or Knackered in the title - tempting as it was

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

lilibet it could be implantation bleed. Or it could be the unmentionable word I'd ring your nearest EPU (early pregnancy unit) and they might scan you if you ask nicely.

Btw, your preggie test will still show you as pregnant and could do up to a couple of weeks after you would not be pregnant so I wouldn't rely on it.

Best bet is ring EPU and see if they can help

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you dear.

xxxx

ladymac thanks for good wishes to K. I've speeded them to her and she grunted in gratitude

Children wise, no threats necessary to get them to go. I've found that they want to fly as soon as they're about 19/20 and they get a b/f or g/f. Although youngest son says he'll never leave (he's 17) and he lives with his dad. Great for me as his dad can shoulder it! I've got Janine Kirsty ( not my choice but was convinced having a boy so let him pick it), Thomas Daniel (Tom), and Richard Adam...oh and not forgetting Katherine Eunice (Eunice being MiL who died this year).

We've also got DSS who is Peter Gabriel (latter being his middle name). Nope, no co-incidence with the famous PG...in fact named after him. Hence, I picked K's name Could have ended up with Bruce Springsteen or even worse, Elton John!

lilibet · 30/10/2008 09:59

ah - that answers one question - just done a test and its +.

hmm - can't do anythign at the moment as I'm at work and catching a train to London in a couple of hours.

Will have to see how things develop over the weeeknd.

Very cross with myself for breaking my golden rule - don't test until you are at least 2 weeks late.

Johnworf, my dd had left home to live with her bf and recently came back - very hard work trying to fit us all in again.

anyhow they may now be back together

ladymac · 30/10/2008 10:05

lilibet am keeping fingers tightly crossed. FWIW I had lots of period type cramps early on and a bit of spotting. It was that brownish colour which I think means it's not fresh (sorry if TMI for this time in the morning). What colour is yours? I agree with jw, can you give the EPDU a ring?

ladymac · 30/10/2008 10:26

We are fairly similar on the names front lilibet. Dd1 is Rosie Matilda (names from my mum's family), ds is Jacob Alexander (we were living in America at the time, typically English sounding names just didn't seem right), dd2 is Grace Florence Christina (mix of mine and ex-h's family) and dd3 is Elizabeth Loveday Tegwen. She's not named after anybody, just loved the name Elizabeth. Loveday is an Old English name meaning 'born on a Loveday' which seemed apt. Tegwen means beautiful, blessed and fair and we wanted a Welsh name simply because we were in Wales when we found out I was pregnant.

Do you shorten your Elizabeth's name? To Lilibet perhaps?Ours gets called Betsy.

ladymac · 30/10/2008 10:27

How long will you be in London for? And where?

lilibet · 30/10/2008 10:33

I'm home at nine tomorrow night, I'm at Whittington Hospital all day with a colleaugue.

My Dad used to call her Lilibet, but her choice is Liz.

We have tickets for The Mousetrap tonight!

mrsboogie · 30/10/2008 10:50

hope all is ok lilibet I know how horrible that kind of thing is.

I love trad names as well - especially old fashioned girls' names -don't think they are dull. Could come up with D's name for ages - too many Johns and Davids around us - both names I like. Darragh is a traditional Irish name which was going to be his middle name then when he arrived we thought it would suit him. I probably wouldn't have thought of it if it hadn't been for Dara O'Briain. Very glad I did now although it gets some raised eyebrows from OH's family and people always ask if its after Dara O'B.

Good news re the O2 JW be nice of she was free of it for Christmas

lilibet · 30/10/2008 10:56

Many, many moons ago dh and I picked Julia for a girl, no way we can agree on a boy tho'.

Tee2072 · 30/10/2008 11:18

I've come up with what seems like 10000000000 names, everyone of which my husband has shot down. I finally said to him, 'make me a counter offer!!'

He says he's thinking about it. Which means he isn't. I told him we had a pretty strong deadline on this!!

scared3 · 30/10/2008 11:29

hi Guys - don't know if this is the right place to post but I've just had a positive test. DC1 is 10 months old and I reckon this one is about 6 weeks. I'll be 44 and clearly more fertile than I thought. really don't know what to do... (sorry, moved this from the old thread)

lilibet · 30/10/2008 11:32

Wow - welcome scared3.

I'm dashing off to catch a train now but others will be along with good advice

johnworf · 30/10/2008 12:01

Hi scared2. You're in good company on this thread. We're all old biddies

Congrats on your BFP!

ladymac · 30/10/2008 12:16

Welcome scared. We like mature, fertile ladies on here. Nothing like having 2 children in quick succession to keep you young!

BTW, I'm loving all of the names. Hedgepig I'm married to a Ben so of course that's my favourite

Tee2072 · 30/10/2008 12:20

Hi scared! Welcome!

I'm just cooking my first at the moment and I'll be 40 when the little bug is born!

ladymac · 30/10/2008 12:58

Right, after studying the DM website I agree with jw that Gemma thingy's dress was horrendous. Amazing that an attractive girl can look quite so unattractive. And frock probably tres expensive. Who designed it? And to describe her 19 yr old boyfriend as her toyboy - she's only 22 fgs.

Also am of the opinion that my 45 yr old boobs are nicer than Georgina wotsit's boobs. Though mine might look awful if I covered my nips with insulating tape

Big news here is that Elizabeth is almost walking! She can do about 8 steps before falling over. Went to visit ma-in-law in Surrey yesterday and E insisted on walking (holding hands of course) most of our country walk, over quite rough terrain too. Now the Grandmas are getting competitive over who's going to buy her first pair of wellies.

johnworf · 30/10/2008 13:34

awwww ladymac How sweet she's walking! You are allowed to officially puff your chest out with pride for the rest of the afternoon

OOOh all this talk of postives is making me slightly broody. I said 'slightly' in that I'm not going to get myself up the duff again

ladymac yeah that ensemble was a nightmare wasn't it? Prolly cost an arms and several legs too. Eugh. I think I prefer the pikey wedding dress....well, almost Now Danielle Lloyds lips...there's a thing. Reminds me, the upstairs sink needs unblocking

ladymac · 30/10/2008 14:04

jw I thought the pikey wedding dress was in appallingly bad taste until I saw the mother of the bride's ensemble.

Off to get my haircut now. No babysitter so Elizabeth will have to sit in her pushchair with sweets

goldenpig · 30/10/2008 14:19

Welcome scared, have just turned 44 and am 12 weeks pg with second (17-month-old son John), so you are in good company.

I see there is a pic of poor Zuma on the DM site (yes, you have got me started on the slippery slope now too) - and note that his middle name is James - maybe he can swap names when he realises...

mrsboogie · 30/10/2008 14:32

oh, Zuma is a boy? for some bizarre reason every time I see that name it reminds me of Ghostbusters.

congrats Ladymac on Elizabeth's walking - you must be all proud

Danielle Lloyd's lips what.the.eff? they have actully change the whole look of her face and now she just looks very odd. Not a good look, love.

johnworf · 30/10/2008 17:51

haha@Ghostbusters! Mebbe that's where they got it from.

Where is JJ today? Mebbe she's rocking in a corner with lack of sleep...but wait! No. Surely she can't have a life. Well if she has one, I want one too! I've put it on my xmas wish list

I wonder what Danielle Lloyd thinks when she looks in the mirror? Or...mebbe she had it done as most footballers like it (I was going to say something lewd there but refrained). So answers on a postcard.

mrsboogie · 30/10/2008 18:44

apparently, according to my OH, its Zool offa Ghostbusters, not Zuma. Stil, there's another "cool" baby name going begging for some celebrity eejits...

'ere this Ross/Brand malarky is all getting a bit much now. Has the country gone collectively mad? I reckon its all because people hate Ross because they feel he doesn't deserve to earn so much money. As OH says - the Boxing Day Tsunami got less coverage...

Tee2072 · 30/10/2008 19:32

Zuma is actually a video game!!

Zuma

johnworf · 30/10/2008 19:58

I want to know where the 30k complaints came from. No way do that many people listen to Russell Brand and not like him. Professional moaners more like.

Ross is ok and doesn't warrant all this linch mob stuff. They've both said sorry...I mean fark..half the BBC is gonna get sacked/resign all over some prank over a trollop...FFS. Murderers get less press than these two...it's crazee.

I see from DM website (shock, reactionary and moral offended news rag) that all the 'stars' are coming out of the woodwork to throw in their two penneth worth....Steve Coogan. Pot. kettle. black. Errr short memory Mr Coogan; Courtney Love (diseased ridden old hag junkie), lap dancers, abandoned wife/child, and cocaine. Hmmm I think hypocracy is afoot. Sighs.

I think Brand will hot foot it to the US. Ross will go under the radar for a while (well he has no choice really - suspended for 3 months).

Btw has anyone seen the new pics of Georgina/Rosie Webster on DM website?! Ha! Miss Whiplash.

Tee2072 · 30/10/2008 20:00

According to my husband (I haven't been paying that close attention to the whole thing) there was no complaints until the Daily Mail published it.

And that's where the 30k comes from!
