We've now filled up the last thread - and the two before that! Seems that there are a lot of us old girls out there getting ourselves into trouble

So - if you've just found yourself to be with child or have a LO and you've hit (or about to hit - we'll let you sneak in just under the radar!)the big 4 0, then come say Hi!

There is always a spare comfy chair - plenty of cake and many old ladies to listen to your moans! Think of the lovely ladies knitting shreddies - only we're not sporting a blue rinse, but wearing cashmere and kitten heels

Hello regular ladies. I avoided putting FAT, F*cked or Knackered in the title - tempting as it was

I saw the trollop being interviewed by the Sun (says it all really) on TV....to clarify that she 'doesn't want to talk about it any further'. Purlease!

As for sleeping with Russell Brand...who hasn't these days? But if you lie down with dogs then you get the proverbial fleas. He's hardly a gent is he??? His brains are kept in his nylon Y fronts for gods sake! And that hair. Dear lord...it's a birds nest. Can you imagine waking up next to 'that'?? I dread to think what the rest of his body is like

K fared ok with her jabs All done and dusted for now until next month. That's 2 of the 3 appointments down - 1 to go next Monday. The dreaded ECG to see if she'll need surgery on this heart murmur thingy....sighs. Anyway, the other 2 have gone well so can't complain.

MW always hangs around for ages, chatting. She's lovely but comes across as a rottweiller on SCBU and I'm told the student nurses are scared of her...haha. Mebbe we get on because we're a bit alike. Ok, a lot alike Anyway she told me that K will be off the O2 altogether by Xmas if she keeps up the good work...woot!

lilibet welcome to the world of planning I love planning as the ladies on here will confirm.

I'm off to shops for cake. No kind OH to traipse out in the cold for me mrsb. He must think his luck is surely in tonight!

I'm looking forward to The Restaurant. I think it's tonight. DH wiped last weeks episode so I was furious with him. I'm sure I'll catch up now I know who has gone as ladymac mentioned over the weekend

johnworf · 29/10/2008 18:48

Just the three times 'to make sure' goldenpig?

johnworf · 29/10/2008 18:51

JJ Re RSV (Human respiratory syncytial virus):-

"For some children, RSV can cause bronchiolitis, leading to severe respiratory illness requiring hospitalization and, rarely, causing death. This is more likely to occur in patients that are immunocompromised or infants born prematurely. Other RSV symptoms common among infants include listlessness, poor or diminished appetite, and a possible fever."

This is what she has the jab for.

lilibet · 29/10/2008 18:52

I love The Restaurant and I don't kow who has gone [fingers in ears la la lalala]

Only problem is, we usually watch it with a bottle of wine

goldenpig · 29/10/2008 19:00

lillibet I hear you! please don't talk about wine - I sooooooo miss it, though had a nice glass of Prosecco after the scan on Monday.

John trying to join in and send a message, so over and out.

mrsboogie · 29/10/2008 19:01

haha jw you flippin' psychic or what? you were right he was no sooner in the door....

that trollop will deffo be milking the publicity for all its worth - we'll never see the back of her now...

took D to meet OH's mum and her sister and aunt as they had traveled from Bolton to meet him (he is the first baby born in their family in 20 yrs so he is very much the star turn at the mo) Anyhoo the aunt (fifties) was asking if he was "still" on milk or had I not started him on baby rice yet. Changed times eh?

mrsboogie · 29/10/2008 19:07

Its the final tonight - can't wait. Could go either way I reckon.

goldenpig I had 2 glasses of red wine a week throughout my whole pregnancy. Used to sip one on a sat night and make it last 2 hrs and have the other one with my Sunday dinner. Really enjoyed it (actually more than the full bottle I would normally drink on a regular basis)

jeanjeannie · 29/10/2008 19:59

WHAH - just wrote a whole post and it disappeared

So -where was I? Ah yes, Russell Brand and the thought of him naked.....UGH...thank God I'm not preggie, that would have made me puke.

OOoooo the Restaurant, I forgot it was the final. I should have gone and got cake....now what have I got as a substitute? Oh - I can't wait to shout at the telly. I rate neither of them.

lilibet and goldenpig I'd have a glass of vino for you.....but I'm blinkin breastfeeding. Not that a glass would hurt - but just one glass renders me daft as a brush...even the smell sets me off a giggling! Such a shame - I was a hardcore Bridget Jones in my past life

OOoo Peter is back in Corrie (yeah, sad I know) and I strangley fancy him. I like a bit of a nose on a man......

mrsb hope the CAKE was worth it

jw good on you for going out in the cold and getting some cake......I just sit and moan...and whine!

OP posts:
johnworf · 29/10/2008 20:23

hmmmm mrsb I'm not psychic but I know that men usually don't do anything unless there's something in it for them. lol...and your OH didn't disappoint did he

So your OH is local to me then? Well I didn't know you were shacked up with a 'woolly back'! You should have said....all is now becoming apparent

Peter in Corrie? I'd rather shag Russell Brand given the choice (I fear I shall live to regret that statement). I think you just like rough northern blokes don't you jj? Well come and see me. I live amongst lots of them

I'm Virgin + The Restaurant and warned DH that if he wipes this one it's divorce time. Well, that's it...I just know he'll wipe it now!

I went out for my own cake (my DH obviously isn't horny enough tonight) and I'm having date & walnet. Fabulous!

hedgepig · 29/10/2008 20:26

hello sorry have not posted for a few days. It's half term so Ben is glued to the computer and DH is glued to it when Ben isn't so I haven't managed to log on at all. Also my mom and dad are staying for the week to help! so i feel a bit rude sulking off to the computer.
Big waves to the newies (I'm 42 with 1 5yr old and 1 3 week old)
Lilibet fantastic to see you come over from the TTC thread.
Goldenpg I do like ..pig in a mumsnet name i am most happy to talk VBACs I had absolutely no comment on my age at any of the appointments to discuss the birth, but I think it depends a lot on your hospital. In the end it was not the waterbirth I had hoped for but and induced highly medicalised birth but still for me a very positive experience.
mrsB did you manage to see the docs re-reflux?
so JW does the latest eye appointment mean that Princess K will still need glasses?

jeanjeannie · 29/10/2008 20:34

JW I DO quite like rough northern blokes. Well, my first was from Hull......or should that have been Hell? And then there was Pete from Manchester......he had a big nose come to think of it.....

Oh Lordy - the Restaurant. They're on a train....I'll say no more....except to say movement, cramped conditions - well, the rest writes itself!

hedgepig hello...WAVES!!! Have a nice half term off - and get all the help (and SLEEP!) you can get x

OP posts:
johnworf · 29/10/2008 21:04

hedgepig dear. Glad to see that you're back on the thread, keeping abreast of all things important, and most of all sounding back to your usual chipper self

Jury is still out on specs for K. Eye man tried to do an eye test kind of thing (don't laugh, he did! Although it's not 'read the bottom line' sort) with patterns in black and white but she's a bit too young yet. Next appointment in January and they'll know how her eyes are fareing.

So JJ you like big noses? I'm sure there's some freudian undertones in there. I take it the Pete from Manchester you went out with was not the same one as in Corrie? No can't be as he's fictional. Rough northern blokes really don't do it for me I'm afraid. I like poncy southerners so mebbe we should swap houses for a week - I'll even throw in my rough northern husband, although that would be a baptism of fire

No comment on the man from Hell Hull. He must have had a big knob as I can't think of any other redeeming feature otherwise...unless he owned a shoe/handbag factory.

Ok quick synopsis of DM website:-

Gwen stefani and OH dressed as bacon and egg..NO NO NO. And the baby named Zuma. I think they've been on the phone to Jo Whiley.

Peter Stringvest in the sea with a woman young enough to be his great grand daughter. Makes me want to puke.

Russell Brand has resigned. Well, no surprise there is there?

And lastly, David Beckham eyeing up the cheerleaders. That is SO funny. Only men can perfect the sideways leer. haha

goldenpig · 29/10/2008 21:27

Indeed mrsboogie, the odd glass is necessary and enjoyable, it's the only time I get fussy about wine, as it's well worth savouring those rare drops.

jeanjeannie I have to confess, if that's the right word, that I drank a mini bottle of pink plonk every night whilst breastfeeding (fed for a year), the 250ml ones. After nine months of the odd glass, I figured I had more than earned it. In a former life I was a big boozer, so it never touched the sides. Also when I told my HV she thought it was a splendid idea - she, of course left the practice soon after to be replaced by less thrilling types.

hedgepig ta for the advice - my goldenpig comes from the year my son was born, Chinese year of the...

I'll probably have more VBAC questions for you - huge congrats on managing to have one, you must feel chuffed to have had the experience, and well done for being one of the very few folk I know who have been induced without a section. I had an emergency one after the induction failed to progress.

jeanjeannie · 29/10/2008 21:31

Ah - we could be the first MN wife swappers...DP is only just a southerner by accident as his parentage is very eastern European.....and they do big noses very well

Oh yes, the JJ JW wife swap. You get the cat - I get the dog. Hahahah can you imagine the manuals we'd leave each other..

Mine would be something like...DP must have mug of strong coffee in the morning, he will play Balkan ballalika music when he fancies, he will wear just his underpants around the house, infront of visitors and to pop across the road in, the cat can be found in the cement mixer and Iris likes to have the sieve nearby at all times so she can run around with it on her head.

ZUMA? Good Lord, what's wrong with these people???? I mean, if you want a really way-out name then why not go for Steve or David, maybe Paul or Clive, there will be bugger all of those left very soon I say well done Ulrika for calling her DS Malcolm!

Is it true that Posh is running in the NYC marathon this weekend? Hah - like to see that.

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 29/10/2008 21:36

Hahahah goldenpig LOL@ your HV being replaced by a 'less thrilling type'. I love the idea of a HV even being capable of being anything other than odd! Mine all seem quite nuts!

Like you, I was a big drinker and now I get a headache after one glass I aim to change this at Xmas!

OP posts:
goldenpig · 29/10/2008 21:55

On the supposedly original names front, my son is a John, and yet to meet one under 5 with that name, so what was a ten-a-penny name in our day, is as rare as hen's teeth now, although I can still see the 'oh, how dull' in some people's eyes when I say his name.

I met a one-year-old Roy last week and was delighted to hear that - and I so agree re Ulrika and Malcolm, such a great name.

mrsboogie · 30/10/2008 00:09

I see I missed a lively night's chat and now you lot have all gone to bed (although I expect tee may be getting up again quite soon

goldenpig oh I was the very same - only the finest wines available to humanity were good enough for me when I was up the duff

Latest news from the DM website:

Ben Fogle is very ill with Leishmaniasis (no, me neither)

Georgina Baillie (aka Rosie Webster) - please go away now, thank you very much goodbye!

And in other news, a rat has been trying to get in my back door tonight (and that is not a euphemism)

Tee2072 · 30/10/2008 06:44

LOL mrsboogie woke up at 4:30, so you weren't far off!

Okay, I give up...what the heck is DM? The only DM I know is a DelphiForums Board called Diabetic Mommies! Some how I don't think that's what y'all mean!

I feel pretty good today. I am still at the place that if it wasn't for the achy boobs and the tight trousers I would have no idea I was pregnant!

Everyone have a lovely Thursday!

johnworf · 30/10/2008 06:54

LMFAO @ rat euphemism. Your OH doesn't give up does he mrsb?

Oh I saw that Ben fogle was ill. I'm not sure whether I find him attractive or not. I look at him and think yeah, (but don't like blondes much) and then he opens his trap and I think, Nah.

JJ liking the music your OH is into. Also the scary underpants moments. If you get my DH the manual will include: must let him lie in until silly o'clock as it's within his human rights Let him fart loudly then grin/laugh/look proud (this can also apply to burping). Zone out whenever a visitor arrives but promptly come back into the zone as they close the front door. Scratch his balls when watching tv (this can be done whilst burping/farting) Shout at the tv randomly. Knows that weekends are for a marathon of watching football/snooker/cricket (insert any other sport) all day. Turn into the worlds biggest food critic when sitting down to a meal. Oh, but don't expect him to cook as he can't (won't). There's more, but I don't want to put you off! There you go...he's all yours

Yeah it's funny how we're having a mini retro revival of baby names. My children's names (apart from my DD1 and her dad picked that one) are very trad (translates as boring). Nothing wrong with dull...at least you're never fashionable as opposed to a fleeting trendsetter. There aren't many people calling their kids Lisa (my name) these days. Thank god is all I can say

Talking of HV's, mine rang me out of the blue y'day. Apparently she's coming to see me today (after last visit a month ago saying she'd see me the following week). No idea why she bothers coming tbh. I still have a weekly visit from MW for K and we go over everything I need to. Hopefully she won't be here too long..she's a bit too commandant for my liking.

Ok, quick DM reference. Wtf got Gemma Arterton ready for the premiere? A blind man??? Or even worse, Andrew Sach's GD? It looks as though she's ram raided an S&M shop then swiftly gone to a market stall for the cheapest, sluttyish dress she could find for a fiver. The shoes!!!!!!! ARgh. No! At least they match the belt though

Well I'm up and about as K has got into her routine of waking at 6am for her first bottle. Tee where are you?

johnworf · 30/10/2008 06:56

X Post Tee !!!!

DM is daily mail website. No, we're not all fans of the rag but like the website for it's gossipness - not sure that's a real word.

Tee2072 · 30/10/2008 07:43

Thanks JW!! I was going batty trying to figure out what it might be!

ladymac · 30/10/2008 09:18

I've not had a minute due to trying to be a good mum and actually do stuff at half term and then I come on here and I can't keep up! And now we're not allowed to mention The Restaurant cos johnworf has taped it!

goldenpig hi, I also have a goldenpig child, Elizabeth, who was is almost 19 months. Am 16 weeks pregnant. Also didn't meet the love of my life till I was 40. Was married before (to whatever you call the opposite of the love of your life) and had 3 children by that marriage. So am pregnant with number 5. Love the name John, btw.

johnworf how did you manage to get rid of all your big children? Please send me some tips. DD1, 24, moved here with us almost 2 years ago just till she sorted something else out. She is still here, though I did tell her this week that she needs to be out by January so that I can do something with her room before I'm too fat to move. Felt a bit mean though. She is waiting for her boyfriend to get a job in London so that they can move in together. He works in Oxford at the mo. Because she lives here we don't have a spare room so when DS is home from uni he has to have a bed made up wherever there's a bit of space He does have a large bedroom at his dad's house, it's just that he never feels quite as welcome there. Probably due to ultra tidy/anally retentive, childless stepmother. But don't get me started on her!

Talking of big children, lilibet, mine were/are all thrilled with Elizabeth and now this pregnancy. Grace (12) was a bit unsure at first as she'd quite liked being the baby of the family. However she got over that whilst I was still pregnant and the 2 of them have a wonderful relationship.

ladymac · 30/10/2008 09:21

jw keep meaning to say good news re K's eyes. Also on the O2. And well done on the weight front too. She'll be overtaking Miss SkinnyMalinki Elizabeth in no time at all!

ladymac · 30/10/2008 09:25

tee my sleeplessness (is that a word?) seems to have improved over the last week or so, touch wood. Have managed to go back to sleep almost straight away after getting up for the loo. So fingers crossed.

lilibet · 30/10/2008 09:36

On the names front - I have an Elizabeth Grace, (ladymac!!) *Joseph Alexander and David Alistair.

My Elizabeth Grace is almost 20 and no one was called Grace then!!

Dh has a friend who has a baby called Derek

I must look at the photos of the Bond premiere - I have a bit of a soft spot for Daniel.

I may have bad news - got stomach cramps last night and a spot of blood, meant to do another test this morning but forgot in the rush of packing, so stuffed one in my pocket and am now sat at work drinking cups of fruit tea and waiting until I need to wee.

what do we reckon?
