We've now filled up the last thread - and the two before that! Seems that there are a lot of us old girls out there getting ourselves into trouble

So - if you've just found yourself to be with child or have a LO and you've hit (or about to hit - we'll let you sneak in just under the radar!)the big 4 0, then come say Hi!

There is always a spare comfy chair - plenty of cake and many old ladies to listen to your moans! Think of the lovely ladies knitting shreddies - only we're not sporting a blue rinse, but wearing cashmere and kitten heels

Hello regular ladies. I avoided putting FAT, F*cked or Knackered in the title - tempting as it was

'ere jw I've seen worse pictures than them ont' DM website of our Georgina/Rosie - stills of her in a porno film in the Popbitch mailout. And her MySpace is err ..interesting. Still she's signed up to Max Clifford now so hopefully the poor respectable little love will get some recompense for all the embarrassment

jeanjeannie · 30/10/2008 20:58

Evening all. JW Yes, today I sort of had a life..I went with MIL (woah - living it large eh )and the girls to the swimming pool. Plus we fitted in lunch too. I love watching Iris splash about - she's almost swimming - all without arm bands...*proud Mummy moment!

So - can't read back all the post - I'll be cross-eyed

lilibet sending you good vibes. FWIW I had horrific bleeding (hospitalised - I mean REALLY big) with both pregnancies and everything was fine. Just don't go too mad in the big city!

Names is such a difficult one. I picked Iris for DD1 as I saw a lovely little girl modelling a knitting pattern and it credited that as her name! Katharine for her middle name as it was one we both liked. Verity was DPs idea....although I loved it too. We used to listen to Verity Sharp on radio 3 (oooo get us!) and liked the name from that. May is a middle name...as it's my mum's middle name and the name of the cottage my Great grandfather built for her to be born it!

Wanted Alex for a boy - but it's DPs name, although he's never called it (Sasa in Eastern Europe) Probably would have been Ivan. Although I loved Frazer and Alistair too.

scared3 HELLO! You sound in shock which is understandable. I had DD1 at 41 and found I was preggie when she was 9 months old. Now we got 2 under 2 and I'm 43 - so I can appreciate your moment of panic!! It's blo*dy hard work but fab......honest. Although lack of sleep is a bit of an issue at the moment. But once I've worked out if I can operate on batteries then I'll be fine.
YOu can drop by here any time - moan, ask questions or just eat some CAKE! x

ladymac sooo pleased Elizabeth is almost walking...great news. I'm also thrilled that your norks look better than that silly girl Georgina thingy Hope hair looks nice!

Now need to go and read the DM and find out who the hell Danielle Lloyd is

mrsb are you inferring she's milking the situation? Hush your lips you cynic! LOL....well, well, well. Was only y'day that she didn't want to talk about it anymore and now she's with Max Clifford. Oh I saw the Myspace pics but not the pron ones Why am I not surprised?

jeanjeannie · 30/10/2008 21:01

mrsB gosh - do Popbitch still do a mailout? I used to be an avid Popbitcher! Haven't been on that for yonks....see that's what happens when you have kids...it's MN and DM

OP posts:
johnworf · 30/10/2008 21:31

JJ glad to see that you're still alive and well. Well done Iris on her swimming! Way to go. I didn't know her middle name was the same as our LO's. Well you live and learn Good choice natch!

mrsboogie · 30/10/2008 22:19

'ow do

have we seen them pics of Kate Moss sans slap on the DM website? there's hope for us all...

johnworf · 31/10/2008 07:31

Yeah Kate Moss looks like her 34 (?) years and a bit more. Like you say mrsb, there's hope for us!

FloriaTosca · 31/10/2008 10:25

Goodness you lot can't half chat!
lillbet fingers crossed for you...I had a bit of spotting in the early weeks with Alex (which had me in a flat spin after all the m/cs I had previously) but it was just implantation and he would still be in there if they hadn't induced him!
scared welcome and congratulations.
off to check the dm web site so I can understand half of what has been discussed

mrsboogie · 31/10/2008 10:52

mornin' all

Pregnant ladies look away now:
Darragh refused to sleep yesterday from 7pm 'til 3am. Then he was awake again at 5am, 6am and 7.30am! Wrecked I am.

Off to make some tea and toast while he catnaps

mrsboogie · 31/10/2008 11:09

I notice that the DM makes no mention of the latest study that found that a couple of units of alcohol in pregnancy does no harm and may even be beneficial. No way to scaremonger or browbeat women about it perhaps?

ladymac · 31/10/2008 11:55

That's a relief mrsboogie as I had 2 and a half small glasses of rose when we went out for a meal with my brother and his lady friend last night. I also had some pork rillette which I figured wasn't the same as a liver pate. The duck pate was just about the only thing I did abstain from last night. I did have mackerel pate though as I couldn't remember why I wasn't supposed to be eating it

Just having a quick 5 minutes to myself after laying Elizabeth down for a nap and before helping Grace to finish carving the pumpkin. Very pleased with haircut though it wasn't very relaxing as I had to take E with me. I did get them to give her her first haircut and very stylish it looks too. She has just been trying on the pumpkin tutu I bought from Tesco as we're going to a Halloween themed birthday party tomorrow. Even though I say so myself she looks pretty darned cute

jeanjeannie · 31/10/2008 12:45

Afternoon. Well, my back went at 3am last night An old war wound reared its ugly head. I was holding Verity - just got her out of her cot to feed her and Boom...it locked! DP has taken day off (feel bad as he's halfway through sorting out a flat roof..) and I'm nursing it and feeling c*ap! Couldn't get appointment to get it snapped back till Monday

mrsboogie feeling you pain......it's awful, especially when they've been so good previously. Probably the usual growth spurt. Doesn't help get you any sleep though I know.

jw tis a wonder Kate Moss's face hasn't fallen off with her hard-party life. What does she do with her little girl?

floria I know - we do like a chat, but like you I think i'm going to have to look on the DM website and find out who these folk are!
Perhaps I need to have my finger on the pulse. These days the Cbeebies presenters are superstars in this house

It's a lovely day - really annoyed that I can't get out and about. Am mightily fed up

OP posts:
johnworf · 31/10/2008 13:13

JJ sorry to hear of your pain my dear. Do hope the back quack can sort you out pronto and you're on fighting form once again. Btw, are you telling us the story book version of how back locked i.e. cot, baby, lifting etc or can we have the unexpurgated version which includes leather, chandalier and your naked OH on a swing?

Well all LO's must have had a pow wow re last nights nocturnal moochings as K was awake at 2pm demanding that her daddy fed her! yay. I'm really not surprised she was hungry as she barely had 4oz's up until teatime y'day. I think the jab the day before knocked her for six and made her sleep all day.

I've often wondered what the likes of Kate Moss/Meg Matthews/Sadie Frost et al do with their kids. I think they're in a giant shoe box and only come out in exceptional circumstances i.e. they match their bag and shoes.

Glad you don't believe the hype ladymac. Eat what you like and enjoy is my motto. I'm still making up bottles in advance and sticking my two fingers up to the establishment that poo poos this archaic practice. F**k em I say

jeanjeannie · 31/10/2008 13:25

JW don't YOU start! DP has a few times mentioned that if I was bent over a table (naked etc...you get the picture) then it might make me feel better

Like the thought of ladymac and JW offending the establishment by eating pate and making up bottles in advance. It's Mummy rock 'n Roll! Let's hear it for our very own Brand/Ross anarchic combo I'll sleep Verity on her front........OOOOOOoooooooo, gasps from the audience!

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 31/10/2008 13:42

well, according to la Moss in a Grazia interview - she likes to spend as much time as possible with her daughter - perhaps the child wears an invisibility cloak??

johnworf · 31/10/2008 14:37

lmfao@JJ Yeah, we're the Keith Richards/Ronnie Wood of Mumsent Not sure which is which but hey ho.

See, just like mrsb's OH they see an opportunity for sex at every opportunity! A case of 'while you're down there love'

mrsb I expect we'll all have to wait until children are once again a fashion accessory to see the Moss Child (and all the others that are locked in the attic with old clothes and out of season shoes). I expect as fashions roll round every 10 years, we'll see Lila (is that her name?) when she's a teenager

Ok more topical news from DM; The Andre/Price split, is it real?

Also I'm still laughing at Frankie Boyle's joke (who I love very much) about the Queen being so old her 'piss is haunted'. Hahahaha.

johnworf · 31/10/2008 14:37

That should be *mumsnet of course. sighs.

mrsboogie · 31/10/2008 14:50

haha yes jw I love Mock the Week and he is v funny - love his Katona jokes too. The Mail's pious witterings about the "decency clampdown" are most amusing. Anyone who makes a slightly risqué joke from now on will be subject to their sanctimonious outrage...

ladymac · 31/10/2008 15:25

Yes, there were a grand total of 2 complaints before the papers got involved. Who are these professional complainers anyway? Surely there are more important things going on in the world to get their collective knickers in a twist about?

Going out shortly to pick up my mussels from the fishmonger - moules mariniere tonight instead of our usual friday fish and chips. Oh yes we're very posh down South Also need to buy some orange dye to use on one of E's long sleeved vests as I'm worried she'll freeze in her tutu!

By the way jw i like the idea of being a female version of the Richards/Wood combo. Does that mean we get to spend time in rehab and have sex with fit young men?

johnworf · 31/10/2008 16:22

ladymac count me in for sex, drugs and rock n roll...but only if I can have my Ovaltine with skimmed milk at 10.30pm and then straight to bed

OOoh moules mariniere. Tres posh. Don't actually like mussels as they're a bit like chewing an old tyre for me...but they always look/smell nice. Enjoy. Think we're on takeaway curry tonight.

Yeah mrsb I saw the DM's take on Mock the Week. I expect Dara & crew will be the next ones to be run out of town due to complaints

jeanjeannie · 31/10/2008 16:46

OOOooo...ladymac what's your address again...I seem to have mislaid it..?? I love moules mariniere.... Alas we don't have a fishmonger and our nearest one was in Marlow and that closed Just heathens who eat fish fingers round here!

I've bought some dye too;going to turn the cream sofa covers brown. Well, that's the plan but I suspect it'll end up looking tie-dyed

Is Frankie Boyle the Scottish bloke on Mock the Week? I think he's genuis...so clever.

Ooooo, a professional complainer....now there's a career niche perfect for me!

Sex with fit, young me? Mmmm, not with my back. Shame....you'll all just have to keep them warm for me.

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 31/10/2008 16:59

jw buzzcocks got there first - last night they kept "resigning" or telling each other to resign having said somethign that outraged public decency.. was v funny.

I think those complaints came about because so many people view Ross as an overpaid twit and this was their chance to do something about it.

johnworf · 31/10/2008 17:11

mrsb well the masses are right. Ross earns an outrageous amount. Ok, he's mildly entertaining and witty but he doesn't warrant the wodge of tv license payers money (oooh I'm very Daily Mail today!).

Had buzzcocks on but was nodding off on the sofa so wasn't really paying attention.

Dunno about you mrsb but these suvverners don't half live it large. I'm on curry from round the corner. You? Corned beef hash or is it foie gras night?

Hmmm wish I knew what wine goes best with pot noodle

jeanjeannie · 31/10/2008 17:26

WHahahahah JW darling the best wine with a pot noodle is a LAMBRINI and CAKE Cos, Lambrini girls just wanna have fun and then eat lard. There are posh people up norf too aren't there?? Whatabout that Alderly Edge place.....that's well posh isn't it? Bet they have wine with their mushy peas, chips and gravy. OOOooo, now I could just eat that.

Talking of which there was a horrific accident the other day on the M40 near us....and it was a lorry load of lard that had spilled its load. I kid you not...closed all day for clearing up

Agree mrsB I reckon the phone lines went off cos most people (apart from the under 25s) think that Ross / Brand are pretty over paid and over-rated. Probably took the opportunity to have their say. Can't bear J Ross's hair - all lanky and slippy....I find that's one reason not to watch him.

We're having curry too..seeing as i didn't get an invite to the 'mussell extravaganza' down the road in London

Tee2072 · 31/10/2008 17:41

Personally, I can hardly feel sorry for a man who is going to lose £1m in 12 weeks...that means he normally makes £1m in 12 weeks...how outrageous is that?

Also have a take away tonight, an Indian for sure! Then gonna watch Madcascar, which I have never seen!
