Gosh, Cyteen - sounds similar to my labour!

Sunflower - It looks like it should be me and you next then, you only have two days left to your EDD, it can't be long now!

sunflower78 · 01/09/2008 09:07

lollipop - hopefully it'll be this week for both of us... can't bear the thought of going on as long as with DS, and don't really want to be induced (long labour last time without induction so scared if I go for it it'll be even longer...) with this painful back & pelvis I feel about 90 when I walk, I must be such a sight!!! Hope you're coping better than me! Oh, well, after all I'm not overdue yet, so there's a little hope....

sambrads · 01/09/2008 10:09

congrats ladies who have had there babies !!

sunflower and lollipop it wont be long now til your holding your wee bundles of joy

lollipopmother · 01/09/2008 10:49

Sunflower - Bad luck with feeling so uncomfortable/in pain, I have been very lucky and although I put my back out twice, have managed to get physio and become pretty pain free atm

I now have 3 days to my EDD, I don't feel any different at all, except that I can't sleep at night, which has been going on for weeks. The last couple of nights have been the worst it's been - last night I got about an hour before coming down stairs and not returning until nearly 5am, and even then I didn't get to sleep until 06:00 and woke again at 10:30. I'm not sure how much longer I can manage like this so I hope to God my baby comes soon, otherwise I'll be a wreck!!

I'm hoping to God it's because my body is gearing up to labour with loads of hormones. That is about as positive as I can get at the moment!

sunflower78 · 01/09/2008 11:59

lollipop - same here! yours sound like my nights! I'm sure I'll be more rested once baby's here!

Unfortunately I ruined my back with gimnastics when I was younger and physio was never a success, only pilates helped, which hopefully I'll resume in few months... Maybe we should start a new thread - sleepless nights and faulty backs!

lollipopmother · 01/09/2008 13:44

Sunflower - I wrecked my back doing sports too!! The physio said that she would expect a pg woman to have really loose muscles etc due to hormones but mine were rock solid, even at 30 weeks. Pre-pg I've been used to a certain level of pain and think of it as normal, but after the first time I put my back out the physio did something that made me feel bloody brilliant! The second time she didn't really do much, but it has settled down and is still better than 'normal', but I think it's probably because all my muscles and ligaments etc are finally relaxed due to being 39+ weeks, so it's giving me a bit of respite. I don't expect it'll last, but at least I've had a couple of pain free weeks which has been bliss!

Now I just need to get some bloody sleep, otherwise I'll be incapable of staying awake once I've actually had the baby! Maybe that thread title is a good idea!

sunflower78 · 01/09/2008 22:13

Lollipop - and then they say sport is good for you....

Anyway, had a show this afternoon (quite surprised really as never had with DS, probably when I was out with pethidine/epidural as they also had to break waters after 24 hours...), but I know it means nothing... as much as I'd like it to happen soon, for practical reasons (paternity leave, other people's b-days and b-day parties) it would be better after Friday... so I'm kind of relaxing (might change my mind tomorrow, but for somestrange reason I woke up in a very good and energic mood this morning, despite sleepless night...) Anyway, luckly you reminded me of hospital bag in other thread, now found plastic sleepers for shower (terrible experience last time, had to wash before using it and my legs were still numb from epidural...). Have you got everything ready now?

lollipopmother · 02/09/2008 05:30

Sunflower - I've managed 5 hours of sleep, 3 wee breaks and a couple of unscheduled wake-ups but I am 100% awake now and there's no chance of going back to sleep, so I am up!

I've just eaten a whole pineapple! My tongue is tingling like mad and is very sensitive now - are pineapples poisonous in large quantities?! A lady on my ante-natal thread suggested rubbing clary-sage into my bump as it is thought it can bring on labour, going to try that today too.

If you've had a show I bet you end up in labour very soon! I know that you think you want to wait til Friday, but you sooooo don't, you're just saying that to mask your disappointment for if you don't go into labour. (Psych 101, moi?! ) What is so good about Fri anyway?

My bag is now all packed, God I was well on my way to losing it yesterday, don't quite know what happened to me, I don't normally flap quite like that!

claremu · 02/09/2008 08:28

Wish to join insomniacs club! 40+3 today, not bothered about when baby comes but pissed off with people telling me to 'make the most of having rest'. Was up all night a couple of nights ago..somehow ended up doing research on judaism, then zionism via rastafarianism...don't ask me how I got there but when you're up all night and bored of reading you turn to the most bizarre subjects...at least I had something interesting to talk about with my boyfriend the next day...

sunflower78 · 02/09/2008 09:47

morning, more show-stuff coming out this morning (sorry, tmi ), and a lot of very strong b-hicks, but not regular or anything, all night (actually, quite painful). but otherwise, nothing different.

lollipop, Don't think eating a whole pineapple is bad - I had no cravings with first pg, but this time I've craved fresh juice and fruit throughout, and had a whole pineapple some time ago (didn't know about old wives' tales about it help bring on labour!). "Only" had 3 wee breaks too!!! can't remember las time that happened, maybe it's a sign! Though stared at the ceiling and listed to the torrential rain most of the night... let me know how it goes with the clary sage!

Only reason it's better after Friday is that so DP's pat leave lasts until DS's first day at school (why do they start so early... he's only 4... at least this one will have an extra year...), otherwise he'll be away in southampton for work, but hey, better now than being induced the day before DS starts school!!!

Welcome to the sleepless club, claremu

lollipopmother · 02/09/2008 13:37

Claremu - HA! Love your search topics! Two nights ago I found myself researching how to get sweat-stains out of white shirts - very interesting and I shall be using some of the concoctions (sp?!) suggested, just for a hoot!

Sunflower - I'm sure you must go into labour soon, two shows has got to mean something surely!

I just bought another pineapple - no pain, no gain right?!

claremu · 02/09/2008 13:52

How do you get sweat stains out??

sunflower78 · 02/09/2008 14:28

no, nothing's happening, it could still be weeks, but will stock up on pineapple tomorrow, if nothing else I quite like it... and don't worry, with or without pineapple there will be pain [ouch emoticon], unless you're like a friend of mine, 1st baby, 5 hours labour from first twinge and no stitches... I should be so lucky!! but it's all worth it in the end!

yeah, share those concoctions, do they work for shirt collars too?

sunflower78 · 03/09/2008 10:53

Morning ladies? still there or has anyone else gone to the post-natal?

EDD today, and I'm still here, been awake since 3, had regular contractions from just before 5am to about 7.30 - every 10-12 mins and 40-60sec long, which is how I started last time, so got quite excited, but after that, nothing, the occasional one, maybe 2-3 an hour, plus I guess what was the last bit of show, as it was quite bloody this time (but that's normal, right, as I'm not actually bleeding!? - sorry, TMI)!! had a little snooze, 1/2 hour earlier, but felt quite ill (guess the sleep depravation made me feel quite sick and only just managed to eat s.thing)... maybe should get walking to get things going, but I'm just sooo exhausted...

Anyway, has the pineapple worked lollipop?

lollipopmother · 03/09/2008 10:54

Sweat stain remover:

1 part Hydrogen Peroxide (can get it from the chemist apparently)
1 part Baking Soda
1 part water

Loads of people have said it works, but you should only do it on whites as it might take the colour out of coloured shirts. I think white vinegar and water might also have some effect.

Collar stains:

Use a shampoo for greasy hair.

Whether that will work I have no idea!

waitingtobloom · 03/09/2008 12:01

Can i join you? Am 39+5 and thoroughly fed up. Am gradually getting ruder and ruder to the people who tell me a) my son was born by now b) I could still have 2 weeks left c) my bump doesnt look low enough yet.

Had a show a week ago (all gone according to midwife who I talked into giving me an internal exam yesterday) and often have runs of regular pains which get me thinking it is it. But it never is.

ARGHHH!

Am quite intrigued by the sweat stain remedies though lol. Baby better come soon or Im going to turn into a 1930's housewife!

xxxx

sunflower78 · 03/09/2008 12:16

HI waiting, completly understand the rude bit, that's why I try to avoid going out and answering the phone (luckly mum's in italy so couldn't stranlge her last night when she kept on asking if I was sure that I wasn't close to giving birth...., I think I'd know!!).... I was kind of happy yesterday, convinced myself that for a few practical reasons it's better if baby comes at the w-end, but had regular/irregular contractions since early morning that seem to be getting stronger, but not obviously labour yet! so I'm in pain for nothing, no baby to hold at the end of the day... she's instead happily rolling around, sat on my stomach, headbutting my pelvic floor and bladder... sorry, needed a bit of a rant

lollipopmother · 03/09/2008 13:58

Sunflower - It seems we x-posted this morning! The contractions and the last bit of show sounds very promising. I know that the show can be tinged with blood, but I don't know about how much. Have you spoken to your MW at all? Definitely you need to get yourself out for a walk and see if you can shake the baby out!!

Waiting - Welcome! I am 39+6 today, yesterday I got a period type pain and back ache for about 15 mins and that was it, can't have been anything to do with labour but I wish it was! Talk about symptom spotting though eh, I jumped right on it, haha!

I had a look for the hydrogen peroxide in Sainsburys as thought there was a slim chance they might do it, but they don't. As soon as I find it somewhere I will definitely have a go, as crusty underarms are grim!

claremu · 03/09/2008 14:18

thanks lollipopmother!

sunflower78 · 03/09/2008 15:21

Wow, some of you still go out to the shops?!?! well actually I was like that first time, but this time I really feel rubbish, need a haircut (oops, another one coming... - fourth with a 10 mins interval after nearly nothing... it's either today, or now she'll have to wait til saturday, cos I'm busy tomorrow and Friday!), and just felt achy and big and ugly for weeks now, despite putting on no-where near as much as with first pg, thank God...

anyway, DP's been instructed not to come home without a couple of pineapples tonight!

lollipopmother · 03/09/2008 16:06

Sunflower - Doesn't sound like you need the pineapples to me!! The haircut on the other hand - you should've gone for it, I hadn't had mine done since way before I found out I was pg, and I felt like shit. I had it done two weeks ago, not dyed like i'd like but some hi-lights and a cut and I've felt so much better ever since. Before I just used to look like a big fat horrible mess, now I really don't feel so bad!

sunflower78 · 03/09/2008 16:21

they've stopped again.... had a haircut in May, but it's out of shape now, so I just thought I'd leave it and treat myself once the baby's here . I bet you'll have the baby before me, lollipop, if it carries on like this!!

lollipopmother · 03/09/2008 16:34

Doubt it babe, at least you've had twinges, I haven't even had that!!

lollipopmother · 04/09/2008 10:13

Sunflower, noticed you've just joined my ante-natal thread! We've just started a new one now so you should continue to post with us!
