OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bootus · 23/08/2008 16:56

Well....I'm REALLY hoping it all kicks off naturally for you. I'm in the same boat, booked in for the low risk unit and really don't want to be induced but I have a few more days than you. Let us all know! xxx

PetitFilou1 · 23/08/2008 20:00

Good luck marmite!

toomanysweeties · 23/08/2008 21:45

Hi ladies !
Need to let you knwo where I've been since Wed night !!!! Sorry, don't mean to rub it in BUT I've got my little baby

I went to bed after posting that message at about 11ish, then by 2am the pains were getting a bit stronger but were most definitely closer together (down to about 7 mins). By 2.30am they wer 5 mins. Woke DH, called CM to sit with DD1 and went to hospital. Pains getting worse all time until got to CDU at 4am, told BP was raised and protein in urine so they gave me a BP tablet, then everything slowed right down. Contractions slowed to every 10 to 15 mins or so and I was still only 2cm. Got moved onto antenatal ward 9am ish to be sat there waiting until drs decided if they were going to break waters or not to induce. This decision took them until 3pm, by which time someone had managed to crash into our 5wk old car in the carpark, and my contractions had started up again.
At 4pm, my contractions were 5 mins again so they moved me back to CDU to break my waters and hopefully deliver.
DD2 was born by VBAC with only gas & air and an episiotomy at 17.11hrs !!
Got home yesterday lunchtime so have spent all day fielding phonecalls and midwife and feeding/changing/feeding/changing etc !!!!
DD1 has been wonderful with DD2, she keeps going up to her saying "baby sister"
So happy !

Good luck to the rest of you, you never know, it might be tonight !!!!!!!!!!

toomanysweeties · 23/08/2008 21:46

Forgot to say she was 5lb 9ozs and teeny tiny but healthy thankfully !

MrsTittleMouse · 23/08/2008 21:50

Congratulations!
Hopefully it won't be me tonight, I have weeks to go. Hope that my DD takes to the baby as well though.

sunflower78 · 23/08/2008 23:30

Congratulations!! glad all is well (sorry about the car though!).

Hopefully the others will follow soon! and hopefully me too (DS is getting tired of my "soon" aswer to his "mummy, is baby ready to come out yet?" question...)

thinking of you all!!

ElizabethCM · 24/08/2008 06:48

hello all! can i join? i am 40+1 and going a little crazy. had some pretty severe period type pains this morning but they stopped when i got out of bed to make coffee! since then nothing else has happened.... in fact i've had no signs that labour might be imminent at all , no nesting, no show, no strong braxton hicks.

this is my first baby so have no idea what to expect. dissapointed every morning when i wake up and find baby still happily staying put!

bootus · 24/08/2008 12:20

Hiya ladies....am standing in solidarity with you all!!! Congrats TMsweeties, so happy for you!!! Elizabeth, your post is like reading me, my first one too and every day there is a slightly disappointed feeling that baby still seems to be happy where it is, every twinge has me thinking 'is this it...' We're all on the home run now tho, just keep telling myself that and thinking should enjoy the last days of just mooching around pleasing myself!! Good luck....
Ps has anyone else suddenly got massively spotty? I've spent the whole pg fighting hormonal acne having always been clear skinned before and this last week I look like a pizza, its making me a bit

rainrain · 24/08/2008 17:07

I need this thread! But only 35+4.... bit early to will this bub out I suppose but I am really starting to yearn for that day Dreading going back to school run in two weeks where I have to cope with lollypop ladies who were telling me I was huge and "can't believe it's due end of September" when I was about 25 weeks They're eyes will pop out when they seem me now.

ElizabethCM · 25/08/2008 05:19

thanks bootus. i'm trying to enjoy having the day to myself and just relaxing but after three weeks the novelty is wearing thin!! i was very spotty a week ago but all cleared up now, hope that happens for you!

poor rainrain! its annoying isn't it? at the moment, because i am two days overdue i get a zillion phone calls/ texts saying "any news?" drives me crazy! beggining to feel like i am the first woman ever to carry beyond 40 wks!

bootus · 25/08/2008 11:22

Thanks Elizabeth, maybe those 'post' birth piccies wont have to be banned!!! You just feel like you want to go into hibernation to avoid the sympathetic looks, comments and endless texts don't you??? Hope you all enjoy your bank holiday!

rarebreed · 26/08/2008 12:40

oooo can i join in too?

I'm 36+2 and bored on maternity leave, DP is going away for a week on Saturday so baby has got to stay put for at least 2 more weeks, am sure baby was trying to burrow her way out last night though

Only complaint are the comments i get from everyone, 'god you're huge, are you sure there is only one in there??' being one of the most recent

rainrain · 26/08/2008 13:16

Yes we could all do without those kinds of comments rarebreed couldn't we!! I got that exact same one a few days ago . Have Hope it happens for all you ladies c.40-41 weeks soon

sunflower78 · 26/08/2008 16:58

Yes, those comments... been getting them since wk 20! Don't they think it's worse for US as we have to cope with a changing body, and scary weighing scales giving increasing reading every day!?!?

though the worse one I got was about 4 wks after having DS1. Went to pick up MIL from station and before she even looked at her first grandchild from her only child or said hello to me, she just looked at my tummy (which was still a bit flabby, understandably - didn't have personal trainer and nanny!!) and said "Ah, have you got another one still in there?". I felt so mortified and embarassed (still makes my angry when I think about it 4 yrs later!!)

bootus · 26/08/2008 17:05

What a cow!!

rainrain · 26/08/2008 17:09

ouch! yes that's sensitive isn't it?!

PetitFilou1 · 26/08/2008 17:24

40 + 1 today It is my third fgs this isn't supposed to happen (wails)

at the fat remarks - can't believe people are so rude!

lollipopmother · 26/08/2008 17:28

Jesus Christ, what a complete bitch!

I am 38+5 today and would also love to join in with this thread. I have the sense of disappointment every day too, although I actually don't want my baby early, I want her when she's ready. But even so - it's like waiting for Christmas, but not really knowing when Christmas actually is, it's excruciating and I'm getting so excited!

Thankfully I'm not really in pain, yes I have the heartburn and the reflux and back pain etc but I am soooo going to miss being pregnant, I have loved every second of it. I know that I'll have a lovely baby to love once she's here, but I love my bump too and I'll really miss being pregnant. God, I feel sad just thinking about it, but then again, on the plus side - BABY!!

sunflower78 · 27/08/2008 09:58

had a bad day yesterday - bloated (can I be any more than this ?!?!) and constant BH for days, but nothing more! so sick I can't walk, sleep because of BH and back ache (at least baby keeps me company while everyone else is asleep, as is normally awake and trampolining at night) or do anything really (and should really scrub this floor...), oh, well can't be much longer now can't it?!? Then again, DS1 was nearly 2wks late...

Off to see midwife this morning, hopefully I'll get the simpathetic one, as supposed to the "baby's moving? good, off you go then" one... oh maybe it's just me expecting too much...
sorry, just needed to whinge a bit...

hope you ladies are feeling ok...

cyteen · 27/08/2008 13:05

I'm back, and all fired up for the whinge of a lifetime. Fucking heartburn is killing me I was up half the night with it last night, it's back again today - I can't eat anything with enjoyment anymore because I never know what's going to bring it on, and since stuffing my face is practically the only pleasure I've got left at this point I am extra pissed off about that.

Am 40+3 today...get a move on little man, I'm BORED.

Sweep is booked for Sunday if nothing happens before then.

Best wishes to all fellow lingerers, and congrats to all those who've had their babies

lollipopmother · 27/08/2008 13:38

Cyteen - Are you sure that it's certain foods that trigger the heartburn? Mine is just triggered by food, nothing specific, so I've said fuck it and I just eat anything now - I get acid reflux and heartburn irrespective but at least I've enjoyed a part of my day iyswim. My heart goes out to you though, heartburn is a bugger and I certainly won't be missing it!

Sunflower - Sorry to hear that you can't sleep because of the pain, I had a night on the sofa with my back about a week ago and I had a serious wobble/crisis of confidence, no sleep and constant pain can really get you down can't it, but at least all of that will be gone soon, just hang in there.
