Hi all - gosh I haven't been on here for sooo long and I don't even really know why! I do keep up with reading the posts, and then never get time to add anything myself!

Anyway, good to see Babylove and Cityangel again and that all is well with both of you.

As everyone else has said City - try not to worry too much aobut the 9th centile thing....However, I have always worried about Isla being on the 9th centile, and we have finally (after visits to the GP, numerous chats with the HV) diagnosed her as being lactose intolerant, which really makes sense of why i've had such a hard time with her. It causes wind, bloating, stomach cramps and diarrohea... another of her symptoms was persistant nappy rash...and slow weight gain. So if that rings any bells for you it might be worth mentioning it to your HV or GP. Lactose is in ALL kinds of milk (breast, cows, goat etc.) and while I am pleased I bf her for a year, if I had known that that was causing all her misery I would have switched to soya formula like a shot!

She is still on the 9th centile (she's only been on the soya a month) but she has put on 11oz in 4 weeks where before she was only putting on 1 or 2oz a week, so she should start to climb up the charts again over the next few months!

Honey - good luck with Dex's modelling career - he is indeed gorgeous

Fettle - glad you've got your MN problems sorted (and a new laptop too!)

Rainbow - it was me and Fettle who met up in Street. Couldn't make it between Xmas and NY though - doing various family visits! Would be nice to do it again though if you're that way another time.

Am V. at all you lot being organised with your pressies. God knows what we're going to get Isla...

Greedy - hope you find a solution to your workplace situation - that sounds a bit stressful. I'm going to look at your pics now to see Marcy's crazy hair. Isla is going through a bit of a "boy" hair stage - it is finally growing, but looks like a short back and sides at the moment! We get a lot of "ooooh, in'ee lovely" (broad dorset accent) comments even when she is head to toe pink!

Chooster - well done on the weight loss. Keep at it, sounds like you're on a roll! I think the school run (well, walk) is doing wonders for me!

MrsMcJ - glad to hear all well with you so far. Am V. jealous of everyone with your telly-watchers. Isla is just not interested in telly AT ALL, much to my annoyance!

Lovely pics iamamummy! He looks delish!

OK, better dash - sorry to anyone I've missed out! Will put up a new pic now...

iamamummy · 19/11/2008 19:59

evening ladies!!

thankyou for all your lovely comments about oscar - have to admit he is scrummy!!

cityangel - lovely to hear from you, i agree with what the ladies have said about the 9th centile. its just the nations averages anyway and some people are small some are large its a fact of nature - what a boring place the world would be if everyone was "average"

babylove - welcome back!! so excited for your little arrival soon. so so lucky!! im glad you have found a compromise with the midwifes in the end. stick to your guns in hospital and dont be bullied!! i hope your dp is supportive and clued up on your ideal birth.

seaside - glad you are feeling better now, we have all been hit here with the flu just starting to get over it now.

big hellos to everyone else - only a quickie as im supposed to be up here "having a bath"

i had an interesting chat with dp last night and in a confused state - i said to him that my broodiness had really kicked in and as my friend has just given birth i felt very envious of her and wished that i could go through it again (bearing in mind we are supposedly ttc atm) his response was i dont think a baby is very practical with our financial situation at the moment so i said well i had better go back on the pill then and he then said he didnt want me to im utterly confused but didnt want to talk further incase of disagreement infront of oscar. i think i will broach the subject at the weekend but if its a no go ttc im going to be heartbroken

anyway better jump in the bath now. byee xx

Chooster · 19/11/2008 20:23

Hey all - just popping in quickly!

Ah I see now babylove, sorry I'd missed some of the hassles you were having before. I totally agree that it seems crazy not to let you have a home birth just purely because of weight when everything else is fine. I guess you could understand it if you had BP issues but you obviously dont. At least you've made your feelings clear for now and hopefully you'll get the birth you want. Also hope she makes an appearance soon - sounds like you are getting a bit fed up. Come on Katelin (did you agree on that in the end???).

Great to see you again on here city - I haven't had weight issues but have had sleep issues with both boys, mainly Theo, and its very tiring after a while isn't it. The one positive and it may not help now, is that it will balance out. Theo didn't sleep through til 13 months but now he wakes between 7.30 and 8am and then happily lies in his cot for a bit playing with his dummies! I know he's getting a bit old to have them but he just adores them!!! And they help him a lot at the moment as he's got molars coming in. Anyway, my point being that IT WILL GET BETTER - just hang on there.

Good to see you too Bodkin - how is work?? Business busy??? Glad you got a diagnosis about Isla - at least now she should be more settled and gain some weight. It must be difficult when you know something is wrong but can't get an answer. How is Nelly?

Really hope your sis gets some good news soon Greedy - Is she trying every month? Hopefully soon... If its happened before it will happen again. Really interesting story babylove about the couple and their lead levels... Amazing that can affect fertility.

Right better head... Got some work to do. Things are fab here - Max is on top form and Theo is great all things considering. His teeth are giving him hassle but he's smiling his way through it. I've got an ENT appointment for Max tommorrow at the hospital to check his adnoids and tonsils. He's always been a bad snorer and I'm seeing if he needs something done.

Chooster · 19/11/2008 20:28

Crossed Iamamummy! How are you??

Strange chat with DP... Perhaps he's just been anxious recently about money and was just saying something because its on his mind. When you mentioned the pill I reckon thats his true feeling coming out as he said he didn't want you to. Like you say have another calm chat about it when he's in a relaxed mood. I think it can be hard for men as they probably think of the responsibility side of it more when ttc whereas women probably focus more on the emotional side of things. Good luck!!!

Chooster · 19/11/2008 20:59

Have put on a recent photo of my little Ted too.

fettle · 19/11/2008 22:00

Hey all

City - not much more I can add about the 9th centile - it's all been mentioned. But as someone said someone has to be at the top and bottom of these charts - my poor DD is way off the top now on her height! As long as you feel that he is happy and healthy then don't worry about him, he'll be getting enough milk from you. BF babies are smaller - I have to say that I don't quite see the obsession with really chubby babies, mine have always been on the slim (But tall!) side (wish I was too). Hope his sleeping settles soon - that is always a killer. Just try and rest when you can through the day.

Babylove - so good to see you back - we were getting worried. Glad you've got things compromised - don't envy you that dash to the hospital during labour - hope the traffic is in your favour!

Chooster - how's work? Glad all seems good with you and your boys. Is DH still seeing his counsellor?

Bodders - how you? Must arrange another meet up soon. Has DD1 started full-time school now? My DD starts her holiday on 12th Dec! Only a few weeks to go - how has Christmas managed to creep up on us so quickly. I haven't even made my Christmas puddings yet - have to do it this weekend.

MrsMc - hope things have calmed down with your parents and your job search is proving unproductive. Poor you with the injections.

Honey - glad Dex is better - how is the modelling? We considered it with DD, but never got around to it - I'm just waited for her to be talent spotted while out shopping and then she can keep me in my old age!!! Although I think I'd probably prefer it if she was a brain surgeon!

Greedy - if it worked once for your sister, chances are she should succeed again. Hope your work situation sorts itself out too.

There are some gorgeous photos of everyone on here - must try and put a recent one of Toby up - I really need to cut his hair. As for teething, we had a couple of weeks of hell and few weeks ago and he now has all of his bottom teeth and we're only missing 4 from the top - seems pretty young to me poor chap.

Right - better get to bed.
Big waves to everyone I've missed - didn't on purpose just have to rush off promise!
xxx

rainbowdays · 20/11/2008 10:55

fettle - hi do you have a good christmas pud receipe you could share with me? I was planning on doing puds this weekend too but no handy receipe! Also bodders can't meet up between 21st and 28th dec but are you free to meet up at all during that time?

Bodders - sorry can't meet up this time, but I visit my sister a couple of times a year, so maybe we might meet in 2009?

City - as bodders said, milk intolerance can occur with bf babies too. My children are not lactose intolerant but milk protein intolerant and had the same symptoms (bad nappy rash is a big clue), if so you could try altering your diet to cut out dairy, replace with other calcuim food/drinks though. It takes 3 days to see any effect, but it might make a difference to the sleep issue too. Hope you manage some rest during the day.

iamamummy- I had several confused conversations like that with my dh for a few months, he has finally agreed to ttc, but it took a while, hopefully your dh will come round fully to the idea soon too.

Jak has his first tooth and was sick two nights in a row, and now does not want to eat solids - oh the joys of it all.

rainbowdays · 20/11/2008 11:11

Just added recent pic of Jak and I.

babylove123 · 20/11/2008 15:32

Hi,

Still bloody pregnant! Managed to find some raspberry leaf capsules so am on them now - nothing yet. Niggly but no real contractions. Cant believe this!

Fettle - nice one with the laptop I am not looking forward to the dash either - the roadworks were due to finish Nov 10th, then was 17th now they've moved it back to 28th! Argh! Dare i say it "i hope she'll be here by then!!!!"

City - thanks for the advice on the birth. I have gone thru my birthplan with DP in great detail so hopefully they'll keep to it! Very nervous about it all, not knowing what to expect but now just want it over with!

Rainbow - glad to hear Jak is on the crawl!

Bodkin - hi, how are you?!

Iam- thanks for the support I hope the midwives are good to me! They'll either be scared of me and give me what i demand or hate me and wish for me to p off! lol Sorry to hear about the TTC Your DH does seem to be giving you mixed signals which isnt fair. It is def something you need to sit down and sort out. At the end of the day, if you were to conceive you'd want to make sure he'd be happy and support, there would be nothing worse for you and the baby if he wasnt "all there" with you.

Chooster - well done, you got her name right indeed! She is Katelin but the back up is Maddelin (theres a lin somewhere in it!) We've racked our brains for a back up name and that is what we've come up with! Thanks for your support too - i really hope i get the birth i want. And yes, you are correct - i am seriously fed up!!! Glad to hear your little ones are doing well!

Have lost track of time watching bloody baby programmes and i've left my baking in the oven - now its all burnt.

Going to go and sob my eyes out now, cant believe im so stupid.

greedygreedyguzzler · 21/11/2008 14:40

just a very quickie!!!

hello and welcome back babylove, fettle and bodders and city!!

i agree with you bodders about the tv thing! wish marcy would watch it, but she couldnt care less about it!!! very unlike my other two!!!

and rainbow days............how many dpo are you? whats going on hey? i havent got time to check on the other thread!!

no, fettle i am not as mad as rainbowdays, think we are sticking at 3............just couldnt resist a peek on the ttc no. 4 thread!!!

Glimmer · 21/11/2008 15:27

Hi everybody. Sorry I am posting here rather sporadic, but would appreciate your comments, especially since I know some of you for a long time... DS is 12 months and an absolute delight. I have been broody for #2 for number of months and would like TTC#2, but since I am BF my fertility has not yet returned (I had one AF 35d ago, since then nothing, but BFN).
I am hanging out way to much on the conception threads and notice I am becoming obsessive. At the same time, I think I shouldn't be so greedy but thankful that DS is healthy and happy. Has that happened to you? Why can't I be more patient? The biological clock is ticking, but I still have a little time....
Thanks - it felt good to write this down.

rainbowdays · 21/11/2008 20:28

Glimmer - it is difficult when af has not fully returned, I am still bf-ing but fortunately for me my periods have returned, as otherwise I would be even more obsessive than I am. All I can do is empathise, lets hope neither of us has to wait too much longer.

greedy - not dpo now, cd3!!!! I was actually not so bothered this month, as I had already decided that I would like an august birthdate. But how I will feel if I don't get my bfp this month I don't know!!!

Babylove - have you tried the evening primrose oil yet?

fettle - don't listen to greed's protestations about only having three, I think the "lady doth protest too much"

fettle · 21/11/2008 21:27

I agree Rainbow - won't believe that Greedy wont' be having no 4 until it is too late and she can't!!!
Sorry I'm going to be away between Christmas and New Year, so can't meet up in December - have to be some other time.

Glimmer - it is so hard not to obsess - I certainly did while TTC Toby - in some ways MN is not healthy in that respect. If your periods haven't returned yet, it may be that you can't get pg at the moment, but I would take that to mean that your body isn't ready for another child yet. Enjoy DS while he is a baby - it doesn't last long and you'll love whatever age gap you get between your children. There is no right or wrong age gap I don't think, each has its pros and cons.

Babylove - I hope things kick off soon for you.

Right - off to bed, shattered!!

seaside72 · 21/11/2008 21:34

Evening all
Need some good reassurance and advice from my trusty grads
Cassius is on hunger strike (maybe he has been chatting to Jak ) We have had 4 hideous vomits in the past 9 days - all during dinner - he is really fussy and starts gagging then it is like a volcano, or that little britain puking woman!! Literally a torrent of vom - food, milk everything. He seems OK and pretty unbothered by it just shocked iykwim??
Today all I got down him was breakfast (porridge with banana) and 2 bottles (about 14oz/400ml) - no other solids and I tried everything - fruit, purees, baby rice, breadsticks, pitta bread - all his favourite bits - but nothing. I actually took him to the docs at 6pm as he also was having dry nappies (only one wet one all day) and was much sleepier than normal ( I had to wake him from his nap as he slept for nearly 3 hours ) Doc was lovely and checked him over - no sign of anything obvious except his cough and cold which he has had for 4 weeks now
He is fine in himself - when I am not trying to feed him, happy and contented etc but I am so fed up of him being poorly and feel like he is going backwards - he has not gained any weight for 4 weeks (although has grown 2cm). Is this really just all about teething??(3 top teeth are through and one more on the way)

Sorry that is such a me me me self obsessed post! I am sure I am finding it harder as I have had a cold for 3 weeks also and just can't seem to kick it - not getting much sleep does not help! Like greedy - my previously great sleeper now wakes at least 2 - 3 times every night and though he generally settles again I just never get a good stretch of more than 3 hours at a time - grrrr!

city - lovely to see you hon - as you can see from above weight issues are always there!! Cassius has always been between 9 and 12 centiles for weight and he is bottle fed - in fact all his breast fed friends are bigger than him. But I honestly think as long as they don't coming crashing down the chart then it should be fine - that is the only reason I am worried about Cassius now as he is about to dip right down on his chart and as always been very steady. However he is between 75-90 centiles for height so I guess it evens it out a bit.

Bodders - lovely to see you back - Interesting news about Isla - at least you know what the problem has been I guess. Is it something she might grow out of??

babylove - she will be here soon! Just make lots of plans for the next week - that's what I did! Have you tried clary sage oil - I had all these things but did not need them in the end. Just a session with the cranial osteopath and my mums cabbage soup !

Chooster, rainbow and Iammummy - gorgeous pics!! Will try and post one of Cassius soon.

fettle - LOL about buying a new laptop for MN!! I would be lost without mine and instant access to MN in front of the telly!!

Iammummy and MrsMac - what food are Xavier and Oscar having now - are you onto sandwiches and pasta etc??

greedy - any news on new premises? Is Marcy's sleeping still rough?

honey - sorry to hear Dex has been so poorly and shame about your swimming lessons. I have to aay I have taken Cassius swimming all through his colds etc as he loves it so much and never seems any worse for going - in fact the humidity seems to help his snotty nose. There is always someone in our class with a cold anyway. Also it makes him hungry and tired which I love as he eats a good lunch afterwards and goes to sleep easily!

Glimmer - I know how you feel - I am sort of scared to start TTC again and also scared not to start. I know I want another babe but feel so dedicated to Cassius - also I am scared to get obsessed like I did before and I know I will if it does not happen quickly and takes another 2 years + for number 2 - then I will have 2 miserable years counting days, temping etc and maybe it will never happen - my ovaries are pretty rusty. Like you I sort of feel like I should just be grateful for what I have and enjoy it (I am an only child so not worried about that really)- dilemmas!

OK - better go - I am supposed to be compiling my tax return info -

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

seaside72 · 21/11/2008 21:38

crossed with rainbow and fettle [waves]

Was going to ask about ages gaps - How does everyone feel about them - someone told me the other day that after 2 years toddlers find it harder to accept a sibling?

seaside72 · 21/11/2008 21:39

oops -meant not a link

MrsMcJnr · 21/11/2008 22:41

Hey ladies just a quick post from me, I hope you are all well. Had my nuchal scan yesterday, nice low risk result and???..I?m having a girl I just knew it!! My due date has moved again, this time to 30/5! That?s a whole week earlier than I estimate, we?ll see what happens at the end hey!

Cityangel ? hope you get some more sleep soon hon. My DS lost a lot of his birth weight and we had some feeding issues but you?d never know it now.

Honey ? glad to hear Dex is better

Greedy ? never thought of the cuddles thing that way how is your sis?

Babylove ? you still pg hon?

Hello Fettle Hey Rainbowdays Hi there Bodders Hello Chooster

Iammummy ? sorry to hear things are tricky re no2!

Oh Glimmer ? huge hugs, I have to say, I felt the obsession creeping back in and that?s why it was such a relief when I got pg easily. I had only stopped BFing a few weeks beforehand and hadn?t had a period. I really wish I could help more though I do know that your body needs you not to BF for 4 hours to enable it to ovulate. Best of luck for good news soon x

Seaside ? will come back and chat some more tomorrow as am shattered but wanted to let you know that Xavier is being fussy too and some days I hardly get anything down him. I think it?s their age! Be back soon, promise.

iamamummy · 21/11/2008 23:37

hello ladies!!

chooster - thanks for the support regarding dp. its very strange as he was the one that brought up the subject of no.2....not had "the chat" yet but i feel it is coming.

rainbow - glad im notthe only one with a confused dp. i went through a stage with oscar where he refused solids then all of a sudden he started eating again. i hope jak gets back on track soon, im sure he will.

thanks for the support babylove. dp does want another baby i knowit but i think the stress of everything is building up...not long now until you meet katelin/madelin.....

seaside - could it be the chunks making cassius sick? oscar goes through spells where certain things make him reach where as other days he will eat them. he also has another top tooth coming through (next to his top middles) and is playing up a bit. he is also very restless during the night and i have to get up several times to tuck him in - he will not stay under the covers at all! with regards to food he is eating ANYTHING! one of his faves is wotsits and jam sandwiches...but he is such a good eater but sometimes insists on me feeding him still. how is casius drinking from a beaker/cup? i keep trying with oscar but he has none of it i still have to give him his bottle feeds. not sure if its laziness or he cant...but somedays he does eat more than others too, aslong as casius seems ok in himself (bar the flu) i wouldnt worry to much

mrs - wow a girl!!! so pleased for you!! have u any names yet?

hi glimmer!! i feel your pain - i am already obsessed to! i really dont want to go back to the old days ttc but fear its heading that way esp with dp.

hi to evryone else. better get 2 bed the red wine has woken me up!! oops xx

greedygreedyguzzler · 22/11/2008 09:48

glimmer - i think in lots of ways its much harder ttc second time round. first time, you know you are desperate for a baby but dont actually know what it involves having one or just how in love with your baby you will be! but once you have those feelings and than decide to have another one, i think you want it STRAIGHT AWAY!!! especially as you know your body can do it as its done it before! i dont think you can help but get obsessed either!......but try not to!!! no advice, just know exactly what you mean thats all!

seaside - poor ickle cassius hey. i think you are doing exactly the right thing. keep offering him lots of different foods and see if he fancies any of them. i wouldnt normally say that if they were feeling 100%, but if he's teething or not well then that can completely put them off their food, so why not just let him eat yoghurts all day or whatever he fancies for a few days! i bet you will find in a couple of days he starts eating again and eats and eats and eats to make up for it.
marcys sleeping is fine again thanks, she went through a bad stage of a few weeks when she kept sitting herself up and couldnt get back down. (have i just jinxed her for tonight now or what!) and as for age gaps..............well! as fettle said there are pluses and minuses for any gap! PERSONALLY, i now think my gap between ellis and kiki (17months) was easier to deal with than my gap between marcy and kiki (2 yrs 9 months).............but that could be cos i was going from 1 to 2 and then 2 to 3, or could be cos ellis was so chilled and too young to really knwo what was going on....................who knows!!!

wow mrs! a girl! how perfect!

inlaws staying this weekend, but i have escaped to work at the moment! apparently they want to have a mini christmas tomorrow cos they will not be around at christmas time!!! thanks for the warning hey!!! guess i will be out buying a turkey this afternoon!

greedygreedyguzzler · 22/11/2008 11:02

just looked at everyones pics again! what a gorgeous bunch of babies we have on here hey!!! and seaside................you HAVE to get pg again soon, you had such a fantastic bump when you were pg!

rainbowdays · 22/11/2008 21:54

Seaside - yep I guess Cassius and Jak are colluding with each other. Today I finally conned Jak into eating but standing up holding him in one arm eating with the other so that he was watching me eating a Marmite sandwich and ofcourse that made him want to grab it so, we ate the sandwich between us. He is also eating some of the non-lump puree jars with a little persuation, but otherwise there is a big NO to food going on here too.

Mrsmc - oh great news on having a girl, it is wonderful. Will you just have a 16 month gap between the two, is that right?

Greedy - hope the turkey goes well

Glimmer · 23/11/2008 04:48

Hey all - thanks for your kind words, everybody! Well, got 2nd AF today, so no wonder I was so hormonal over the last few days. I am kind of happy to be "regular", I thought I had gotten just one and then it had stopped again (and it might at some point while I BF).

Apropo food - Noam didnt eat well and vomited for about a week just recently. He's small to begin with (10% percentile), and I admit I worried a little but understood - I don't like to eat when I'm naseous (except when pregnant in some unusual circumstances). He even refused BM. A week later he felt better and is now eating like a king. I have a hard time making enough food for him - he's defo catching up and more.

MrsMcJ - gratulations to having a girl. I am really happy that the scan was reassuring and that your 2nd pregnancy is going so smoothly.

Fettle - I have to smile at new computer but totally agree on the necessity. I agree with your view about the body telling us when it's ready. At least my brain does :-)

Greedy - that's a very interesting theory about TTC#2. The thing is that I work FT (albeit odd hours, so that I have afternoons off) and would like to spend more time with Noam to start with, but a second child would mean even more demands - it doesn't make sense. And a new pg means worrying about a mc again etc, being sick, - I didn't particular like it.

Iamamummy and Rainbowdays - join the club!

Hi to everybody else. Does anybody know how Uki is doing?

Glimmer · 23/11/2008 18:47

MrsMcJ, I can't believe I wrote 2nd pregnancy. I know it's your 3rd or fourth. My apologies - how insensitive from me. I really should know better, especially since I think of DS as my 2nd child. Sorry.

babylove123 · 23/11/2008 20:52

Hey Everyone,

Well tomorrow is my official hospital due date and no sign so far! Had niggles but this is my 3rd week of niggles so they dont mean much obv! Am seriously getting fed up. Have pulled a ligament in my left hip too which means i can barely walk without screaming in pain! Not good!

Glimmer - good luck with TTC #2, considering your cycles havent appeared to come back to normal yet due to BF then obviously calculating your cycle days is impossible! However TTC isnt Hope you get lucky!

Rainbow - good luck with the TTC. I hope you do well! No, havent tried the evening primrose oil - my raspberry leaf capsules day 2 a day so i was having 1 morn, 1 night, instead this morning i took both! Wondered if that'd do it but nope!

Seaside - hope cassius is feeling a bit better, poor little thing! I've ordered the clary sage, should hopefully be here tomorrow. I did sit sniffing the radox bottle last night, lol, desperation! DP looked up the pressure points on the feet for the pelvis area etc and has been massaging them - we'll try anything! Going to phone the proper reflexolgists tomorrow to see if they have any apts.

Mrs - congrats on the good result and the news of a girl! I hope everything stays good for you

MrsMcJnr · 23/11/2008 21:44

Not at all Glimmer - don't worry Hi everyone, back soon x
