Oh, he is as cute as anything Iamamummy!! What a gorgeous boy .

Thanks for the congrats on weight loss... Got to say I feel so good at the moment (cold aside) mainly because of all the clothes that didn't used to fit but now do!!! . Its really motivating me to try to carry on, but I have real trouble with picking at food that I shouldn't .

Real bummer about maybe losing the room Greedy. Is it close to your house? Any potentials. My chiropratic friend had the same situation and now practicxes out her converted garage, but I think its a hassle with insurance and stuff like that isn't it???

honeyapple · 12/11/2008 20:33

evening

sorry for going awol for a bit...

iamamummy- lovely pics of oscar- is that you holding him (devil suit pic)?

Dex has been pretty ill- although was ok for his birthday- but then he went down after that again and got bronchiolitis again- although not too bad and he seems to be on the mend again- will load some new pics too...

someone was asking about Dex's walking- was it seaside?- anyway- he seems to not have progressed very far- does a few steps but seems happier crawling! Mind you with being ill he has just wanted to hang on to me all day long.

I've just joined a child modelling agency for Dex!!! People kept telling me how lovely he was (I know- all babies are) anyway- thought if you don't try- then you'll never know! So will let you know if anything comes of it.

christmas pressies- i have already started internet shopping with great enthusiasm- keep forgetting what i have ordered though. DD's birthday soon too- have got her a pink nintendo ds (peer pressure and pester power). So many good deals about with toys- 3 for 2/ half price etc etc...

hope everyone well
love to all
x

honeyapple · 12/11/2008 20:40

rainbowdays · 12/11/2008 21:26

I am busy here and dh wants the computer so just popping in to say hi, will try to post tomorrow!

iamamummy · 13/11/2008 10:42

hi ladies

glad dex is on the mend again honey - poor thing though having bhronchitis yes that was me in the picture my mum didnt quite manage to cut me out i hate having photos taken! sounds great that dex could have a furture modelling career, dp keeps telling me to enter oscar into baby competitions but im not so sure...

hi chooster and rainbow!! and everyone else xx have to say i am feeling so so broody at the moment one of my friends has just announced she is pregnant again and another is in labour as we speak!

MrsMcJnr · 13/11/2008 21:13

Just tagging the thread be back later to catch up

rainbowdays · 13/11/2008 21:52

hoey - sorry to hear dex has not been well, hope he is feeling better now.

iamamummy - time for you to join in with return to ttc too!

chooster - well done on weight loss.

Mrs - hope you are feeling a little less sicky now?

I am busy busy at the moment feel like I am always one step behind where I want to be still though. Currently trying to find travellodge easily accessible from either M6 or M5, for on-route to christmas family get-together.

Who of you met up in Street - any chance of you wanting to meet up in the days between christmas and new year or is that just pure madness? I am around between 20th and 29th Dec.

iamamummy · 14/11/2008 14:47

rainbow - we have been ttc well not actively ttc just taking the see what happens approach for the past 4/5 months but nothing happening as yet. i have no idea what cd i am etc which is rather nice but am contemplating joining the temp buddies thread again next cycle as i can just see the age gap soaring between oscar and the next one...

where abouts is street? i am near luton airport if anyone is near there and fancies a coffee!?

rainbowdays · 14/11/2008 22:37

Iamamummy - Street is in Somerset, I think it was Fettle and chooster who met up there, but I can't quite remember. I was on the tempbuddies thread, but to be honest feeling a bit out of place there with the first-timers and me on ttc number 4, and because I am still doing the occasional nightfeed, I have not got back into temping again yet anyway. I hope you get a pleasant surprise soon.

iamamummy · 14/11/2008 22:40

ah too far from me then lol!!! i have just got back into having a normal nights sleep routine so not sure i could handle full on temping - but we shall see what this month holds

MrsMcJnr · 14/11/2008 22:41

Hey ladies A neighbour actually asked me today if I was pregnant, I?m quite shocked that I look it at 11 weeks! last time I hid it until 16 weeks! I spent ages last night on the internet researching the nuchal fold scan?s combined result with the blood test to try and decide whether or not to fork out an extra 200 euros for the blood tests on top of the 160 euros on the scan. I came to the conclusion that if the scan looks ok then 75% accuracy as opposed to 85% is good enough for me. I also noted that the ideal time for the blood test is 10 weeks and I?ll be exactly 12 weeks on scan day? think I?ll have to call it on the day! anyone want to throw anything else into my thinking pot on that?

Felt like a terrible mother tonight, DS fell asleep in the car after an afternoon at my Mum?s and wouldn?t wake so until 5 mins ago he was asleep in his cot fully clothed without any milk, I felt so mean but luckily he stirred and I got him changed and got ¾ of a bottle down him

Iammummy ? poor you, hope you are feeling better and that you get your car back soon. In some ways I am a bit envious that Oscar stays put, Xavier crawls so fast that I tear around after him all the time already! Good luck with the job hunting, I?m half (well more than that) hoping I don?t find anything! I?m still feeling pretty crap but not being physically sick quite so often now. The injections are ok though I often make a mess because I am always in a hurry! what a cutie Oscar is! I must load new pics on but my pc is so slow at the mo! Seen that zebra thing, looks fun! I hate pics of me too but think that it will be a shame looking back if there are none of DS with me so I bite the bullet!

Hey Chooster, hope you all feel much better soon. Well done on the weight loss, you?ve worked so hard, you should be proud I?m delighted to be pg as I can stop beating myself up about it for a while mind you they weigh you every appointment here last couple of times I?ve lost weight though. I?ve got all DS?s Christmas and birthday pressies! they are a few vetch toys, some clothes and some In the Night Garden books and an Iggle Piggle (who he is crazy about!)

Greedy ? sorry to hear about the work woes

Honeyapple ? poor Dex, hope he is much better now good luck with the modelling one of the ladies on my Post Natal thread has 2 (or 3) maybe of her kids modelling and the pics are always lovely.

Hello Rainbowdays life sounds crazy with you

greedygreedyguzzler · 15/11/2008 12:33

mrs - i never had the nuchal fold scan done cos they dont offer it in this area. the blood tests are a pretty accurate method, apart from when i used to analyse them of course! (did i ever tell you ladies about me knocking over someones amniotic fluid sample?)..........NOT a good day at work! i was only 18 and dont think i really realised the implications.

honey - good luck with the modeling! lots of people have said marcy should model too! and nobody EVER said it about our other two!!! poor ugly things! i think its marcys crazy hair.............you do see lots of kids with wild hair in magazines dont you!?

seaside - you lurking? did you see ratllings news?...........not just one baby....!!!

babylove123 · 15/11/2008 15:18

Hey,

It is me - the disappearing lady! Lol.

Sorry for not posting, I had a few hard weeks of work before I left at the end of October and now i've been spending my first few mat leave weeks cleaning like a trojan and sorting out everything (flipping car insurance, house insurance etc!)

Anyway, i'm fine, or should i say - we're fine! Still pregnant....grrr! Am 39 weeks next monday so on the countdown! Seriously fed up and pissed off to put it bluntly! In a lot of pain with my back and pelvis - her head engaged 2 weeks ago and the pressure is hurrendous. Havent slept more than 2 hours in one go for the last 6 weeks and am knackered! (Yes i know it'll only get worse!)

We're having her in hospital now. The midwives did everything to frighten me out of my homebirth but it didnt work so they decided to actually listen to why i didnt want to be in hospital. They've agreed that i get my active labour (they wanted me hooked up to CTG constantly and i refused) and when shes born, i get to leave after the 6 hours if shes ok & i wanna go(even if it is in the night) and if i have to stay in i get a private room for free and can have a female companion stay 24 hrs a day even if i have a c section. I agreed to swap to hospital given this information. I am seriously annoyed though that they did this at 37 weeks - it caused a hell of a lot of upset, pressure and anguish that is not good at this stage. I havent said anything coz i want them to keep to their word but i'll bloody give them a piece of my mind when i've delivered! My midwife at the last apt gloated that they'd changed my mind. I said they hadn't, i'd simply compromised - that shut her up!!!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Promise to not disappear for too long next time - i'll let you know once she has arrived!

seaside72 · 16/11/2008 07:57

Hi all

Just a quickie - sorry I have not been around much - we have had a shocking few weeks of colds and sore throats all round. DH, Cassius and I all suffering - getting no sleep - blah blah blah but I finally feel a bit better today - hope it lasts

I saw rattling's news greedy amazing - hope she comes to join us soon! I think Rah has been having a hard time so far - I am so praying for sticky healthy vibes

babylove - phew = you are back and OK - we were beginning to worry. I remember exactly how you are feeling - she will be here soon though - and life will never be the same again!!! Glad you resolved your issues with the hospital / birth.

So sorry dex is unwell honey - Cassius has had a hacking cough for three weeks now as well as the cold and sometimes it is so distressing listening to him esp at night. We went to the docs this week and she said no infection etc which was a relief as I am hoping he can avoid antibiotics for as long as possible. Hope dex is feeling better now.

I had the scan and blood test MrsMc - but mostly because I went to the Fetal Med Centre which specialises in the combined test. Is it possible to wait and see what the scan sows and then depending on those results have the test if you need more reassurance?? Glad sickness has passed

Iammummy - I am so of Oscar staying put!!! Cassius can crawl at about 100mph - I just feel like I am chasing him (as he chases the dog - its like the tom and jerry and spike cartoons!) and always saying "NO" "STOP" "DON'T" etc etc. He is also cruising all the furniture, so anything within reach gets dumped on the floor!

Darn - gotta go - I smell a code brown situation - from across the other side of the room - can't be good!

Crap - he is in the dogs water bowl too - Every bloody morning he does that!!!! ARGHHHHHHHHH

Chooster · 16/11/2008 13:28

Hey babylove and seaside are back!! Glad you are doing OK babylove, but sorry to hear you are in a bit of pain. Its an uncomfortable time isn't it. Not sure if I've missed some hassle you've been having with the hospital? Why are they trying to get you to avoid a homebirth? Its great we've got someone on here giving birth soon!!! . Very exciting, now you must promise to give regular updates .

Cassius sounds like he's keeping you on your toes Seaside . Shame about his cough though, I hate it when they get illnesses that linger on and on. We've all had a cold and I took Theo for his MMR last wednesday but they said he couldn't have it as he was too snotty and congested. I didn't actually think he was that bad, but probably because he'd been much worse if you see what I mean.

Hi Mrs - great news that the sickness is getting better. Adn you sounds very organised with the pressies already!! Theo is an iggle piggle man as well . He's much more of a telly man that Max ever was, but I guess because its on a lot more. But he loves in the night garden. I think you have the right approach re: nuchal. If the scan looks OK then that should be good enough shouldn't it?

Oh dear Greedy!! Thats bad with the amniotic spillage... Like you say you dont realise at the time how important that stuff is and how tricky its been getting it out. How is Kiki getting on with her glasses? I've got quite a few presents for the boys now after doing an internet spree!!! There's loads more I could get too .

Speaking of which time to go back to my new addiction, an auction site called swoopo. You bid for things and get them for knock down prices... At least thats if its genuine!! It costs 50p to bid but I'm trying to get a nintendo DS for my mum for xmas. The last few today have gone for between £13 and £40. I just missed a silver one earlier that went for £22. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

babylove123 · 16/11/2008 13:55

Hey,

Seaside - Sorry to hear you've all been a bit sicky lately - the winter bugs certainly seem to be flying around again! Hehe, sounds like your little one is finding his feet well! I cant say i'm looking forward to having to babyproof our house!

Chooster - hey, how you getting on? Yeh had a big battle with the midwives over a homebirth. I don't fit their weight criteria so i was refused in all the midwife led units (even the one in the main hospital that is linked to delivery suite by 1 corridor!) Ridiculous! My pregnancy has been v straightforward, a good baby, a healthy size (had a 36 week growth scan and she was 6lb2) and my BP is wonderful - they're just being picky with me. Stupid really. They said i had to have a delivery unit birth and be strapped to a CTG constantly coz of my weight - i refused, forget that, i've got as much chance of labouring and delivering well as the skinny person in the next room! So because they desperately didnt want me to have a homebirth, they tried to frighten me with how overweight mums often die in childbirth and how my selfish choice of being at home could harm my baby if something goes wrong. Initially it upset me but then it just made me angry - surely to god every woman who has a homebirth thinks of the "what if's" so i wasnt at anymore risk than them, if anything, i was safer coz i'd be on a high risk alert so they'd transfer me faster. Oh well, to cut a long story short, i compromised and am now just wanting to get it done with! Good luck with the bidding!

Anyone got any tips to get this bugger out of me?! Tried the raspberry leaf tea, bouncing on the ball, power walking etc. I hate curry so pl dont suggest that and as for the cough, that will only be if i am overdue and desperate, the idea creeps me out!

MrsMcJnr · 16/11/2008 20:55

Greedy ? LOL about you amniotic fluid admission ? how awful!? I remember Rattling that?s lovely

Hey there Babylove! Yay! Mat leave! Hope you don?t witness the 41st and a bit of the 42nd week like I did! I tried EVERYTHING and still can?t eat pineapple Sorry to hear about all the stress about the birth venue, my advice is to wait at home as long as you can and then there is little time for intervention (if all feels all right of course)! All the very best hon, we?ll all be rooting for you and looking forward to your news!

Lovely to hear from you Seaside hope you all feel better soon. Thanks for the advice on the scan, that?s what I plan to do, see how the scan goes first. God, I?m nervous. If you are speaking to Rah send my love and my positive vibes! Cassius sounds like a monkey like Xavier, into everything!

Hey Chooster ? poor old Theo not feeling well! Swoopo sounds addictive!

cityangel · 17/11/2008 22:56

Hi everyone, its really nice to catch up with your news in the rare spare moments I get.
I've been trying to get the chance to post for ages but never have the time to post properly.

Things are ok with me and the little one... he is 15 weeks now and our only challenges are he's on the 9th percentile weight and a very poor sleeper, replying on being rocked/ fed to sleep and rarely staying down for more than a couple of hours.

Excited to hear your news MrsMC and sorry to hear they are messing you about babylove. Hello to everyone else xxx

cityangel · 17/11/2008 22:57

I meant relying

honeyapple · 18/11/2008 10:57

hi cityangel- good to hear from you . I wouldnt worry about being on the 9th percentile- lots of babies just are smaller and follow there own pattern of growth (are you BF?- they are often smaller as charts are based on bottle fed babies). And at only 15wks i dont think either of my boys slept well and definitely didnt go to sleep without being fed/rocked etc...

babylove- good to hear from you too! I hope something happens soon . Sorry to hear about the HB plans- but sounds like you've got a good deal- a free private room! Good going! I don't know about the weight problem- but you are young so I am sure it will all be fine. Agree with Mrss- try to stay at home for as long as possible- you never know- you might end up with a HB after all!

Dex is finely better- i have missed SO many of his swimming lessons- think winter isnt the best time- big waste of money.

Hi to everyone else
x

greedygreedyguzzler · 18/11/2008 14:18

cityangel - lovely to hear from you. i would agree with honey, dont worry about him being on the 9th centile. some babies have to be bigger and some have to be smaller, they cant all be the same size, now that would be boring! how big are you and dh? my friends little girl has always been way off the bottom of the charts for height and weight, but she is only 5'1" and her hubby is only 5'6", so her children were never going to be huge. i am sure his sleeping will sort itself out soon enough, so just try and make the most of all the cuddles you are getting. my dd1 always settled herself and slept brilliantly from day 1, BUT that meant she didnt get anywhere near as many cuddles as the other two and it DEFINATELY shows. she isnt at all cuddly now and its really sad, cos my other two are and i feel like i really miss out on cuddles with her.

anyone think my sister will ever get pregnant again?

babylove123 · 18/11/2008 15:04

Hey everyone,

Just quickly checking in during my tea break. I had the joyous time of having to completely dis-infect my kitchen today as one of my cats has a stomach upset - NICE! Poor bugger, feel sorry for him but at the same time, couldn't he have waited for his daddy to get home from work?! Anyway, am having a break from all of the manual labour (thought this might get things going!) and am then going to be going up to the 2nd bedroom to clean it. We're having to store our sofa and armchair in there for a week or so because we've got new sofas coming 2morro! Whilst i am excited, it has all gone a bit wrong - we have a window in the lounge that is only single glazed and needs to be replaced, we were gonna do it next summer thinking it was just a pain in the bum but we've got cream carpets and we've been having black coming up through it (very unsightly). To cut a v long story short - the condense is running down the window, under the floor, the underlay is black and is seeping up through the carpet! Means we've got to have the window done now! ARGH! Its £600! Noooooo, and we cant cancel the sofa's...........not sure where we're going to find all this money! Am stressed!

Still flipping pregnant too!

Mrs - lol at staying at home, to be honest the hospital is 20 miles away and we've got some HURRENDOUS roadworks to get through, the journey normally takes 40 mins but is taking anywhere up to 3 hours so she might be born at the roadside! Plus we've got 2 major towns to get through - nightmare! Give me an update on this scan thing - is it the downs one?

City - hey! Glad things are ok other than a few teething problems. I'm sure he'll settle soon

Honey - hi, how are you? Yeh - play them at their own game i say! I am really angry with how they've dealt with it all and will be making my voice heard once the baby is born - not before otherwise they might take away my free room or something!

Greedy - hi, sorry to hear your sis is still not having any luck. I've been watching a programme on discovery home and health for a few weeks called extreme pregnancy. It is about people who have had problems conceiving and although a lot of them have PCOS etc some dont know whats wrong. Loads of them have had accupuncture and seeing a herbalist and its worked. Watched one who'd been trying for 5 yrs, had all docs tests and was normal. They researched different tests and sent off hair samples for a mineral check etc and was found her and her partner had v high lead levels. They asked if she lived in an old house etc but they said no, they repair old stained glass windows for a hobby......turns out they were breathing dust in, absorbing it and it was meaning she couldnt get pregnant. They got rid of all the lead, detoxed for 3 months and she instantly got pregnant and carried full term. Was amazing!

fettle · 18/11/2008 16:14

Hey all

haven't got - long hungry children to feed.

I think that my MN problem has been solved my buying another laptop - bit extreme don't you think!!!

Anyway, just had to say Greedy- you not telling us something? SAw you had posted on TTCno4!!! But can't see the thread at the moment, so can't see what you've written.

WAs just being nosey and looking at photos of everyone. Must put some recent ones of Toby up.

Great to hear from you BAbylove and Cityangel!!!

back later -hopefully.
xxx

cityangel · 18/11/2008 23:49

thanks for all the supportive posts I guess some babies have to be slow gainers. I am bf and its hard work to keep up hence the low weight... thinking of supplementing formula to bring him more in line with expectations...

I am 5' 8 size 14 dh is 6' 1 and XXL so the little one has some catching up to do

babylove we chose a hospital birth in the least hospital most like home bit, in the end had a water birth (which I recommend) our flat's too small for a home birth and we got new carpet last year anyway my point is that if you're now destined for hospital ask that they respect your birth plan to create an environment as close to home as possible eg. dim lights, less intervention/ monitoring, music etc and only go in when you're quite far along... having said that my birth was 5 hours from start to finish and it was my first so don't always expect to have time to choose options. If you are trying to have a home birth anyway its one thing to have a planned one but I imagine not as fun to give birth without the right support there (or pain relief on hand).
Very excited for you

rainbowdays · 19/11/2008 10:45

city - breastfed babies do not follow the same weight charts as bottlefed babies. As long as he is having wet nappies (and the occasional pooy one too!) and gaining weight, then it is best to avoid supplimenting. Obviously if he stops gaining weight or losing it, or there are frequent dry nappies, then it would be good to see a lactation consultant to check if they can help before trying formula supplimentation at this stage. You can get the breastfeeding weight gain charts online somewhere but I don't have the link to hand. Sorry to hear that he is not a sleeper either, must be tough on you.

greedy - sorry that your sister does not have good news yet. hope it happens soon for her.

babylove - sounds like you are very stressed, hope you are able to relax a little despite all the hassels. At least your baby will be here soon.

well got to go chase jak again, he is enjoying being able to crawl into mischief!!!!
