Ah yes Glimmer, I remember now are you going to get lots of German books and cartoons and things for DS to up the exposure to German?

We are really enjoying living here but ironically, we moved here for a better family life and yet the Spanish get a pretty raw deal, both parents tend to work full time and the nurseries are full of babies or else their grandmas look after them. There are no play groups, soft play, nothing I was quite shocked when I realised that. There are lots of expats here though, not only Brits, I?ve made friends (through a website and now we have weekly meet ups) with Dutch, Finnish, Danish etc and we love taking the babies to the park and there are some British run soft play places and I take Xavier to swimming lessons with a lovely French lady.

I?ve done something to my shoulder I hardly slept last night and have really struggled to clamber about with DS today, hate muscular pain, so hope it dies down by tomorrow!

Greedy ? thanks glad you had a good night out but you must be shattered, what kind of time is that to get up?!

Feeling a bit wobbly, we?ve lost a few beans on the AN thread I am on I know it sadly always happens but when you?ve been the statistic before you always fear it?ll be you again I keep telling myself all will be fine and that I have no reason to think otherwise, I guess I am just getting nervous about Thurs scan!

iamamummy · 20/10/2008 10:07

hi ladies

just a quickie to say im still around but not time (or energy) to post properly.

oscar is teething really bad at the moment he has got 4 top ones coming through so we are getting no sleep and all he wants is cuddles constantly.

mrs sorry to hear you are feeling a little fragile i hope you can stay positive until thurs when you WILL see your beanie no.2!
xavier is mega cute by the way!!

love to all xxxx back later i hope xxxx

Chooster · 20/10/2008 11:23

Hi all,

Just a quickie from me...

Mrs, this will be total scare mongering as I'm sure you've already had some kind of scan but ectopic pregnancy was the first thing I thought when you mentioned about your shoulder pain. Do you know how you hurt it...? Like i say I'm sure everything is fine but I just had to mention it... I looked it up on the BBC health pages and it says this

"Shoulder tip pain is felt where your shoulder ends and your arm begins. It is not known exactly why shoulder tip pain occurs, but it is a sign that the ectopic pregnancy is causing internal bleeding.

The bleeding is thought to irritate the phrenic nerve, which is found in your diaphragm (the muscle that is used during breathing and separates your chest cavity from your abdomen). The irritation to the phrenic nerve causes referred pain in the shoulder blade. Referred pain is pain that is felt in one part of the body but originates in another part."

I feel rotten for mentioning something that may worry you unnecessarily, especially if you've already had some sort of internal scan that shows its all fine... But it just seemed wrong not to mention it

MrsMcJnr · 20/10/2008 22:30

Poor you Iammummy I really hope Oscar?s teeth give him a break soon and you all get some sleep. Thanks for your good wishes for Thurs x

Thanks Chooster for taking the time and for warning me (because I know you did as a friend ) but don?t worry hon my early scan was precisely to ensure that B2 wasn?t ectopic as my medicine would be lethal to me if that was the case. The pain is definitely muscular and it?s in the ?wing? area not the tip. I did it bathing DS alone whilst DS went to the pub to watch the footie on Sat night!

greedygreedyguzzler · 21/10/2008 13:31

sorry about your shoulder mrs...........if only you lived closer i could sort you out!!

sorry about oscars teeth iamamummy. teeth are a bugger arent they? kiki never really suffered with hers and they certainly never disturbed her at night. now i have marcy 'my teeth hurt all the time' jones............i know how lucky i was.

well, i am offially the worst mother in the world EVER! i did nothing but moan and moan and nag at my three this morning before school. i just didnt seem able to stop myself. every little thing that normally wouldnt bother me really irritated me this morning. poor poor kids. i was crying and really upset by the time my mum turned up to look after kiki and marcy (im at work now, not just being a lazy cow!) i really think my mum thinks i am having a nervous breakdown. mind you, i felt like i was this morning too.

went to the toilet about half an hour ago and discovered AF had arrived (still hate that term!) so that explains my irrational bitchy nasty behaviour.........but my poor little kids, why did i take it out on them hey?

Chooster · 21/10/2008 20:23

We all have days like that Greedy! Try not to beat yourself up about it. And I know what you mean about not being able to stop yourslef. Sometimes I've had to leave the room as I know I'm just going to lose the plot about something that I know is not the DC being really naughty - just normal kids behaviour. Somedays we have the patience and others we dont .

So glad that all is well Mrs - i was sure you'd had an early scan but wasn't sure. It sounds like DH is getting a bit more settled there? Is he making some more friends through watching / going to the footie?

How are Oscar's teeth Iamamummy - hope you are getting some sleep again now. Its a real killer isn't it when you ahve night after night of bad sleep.

All is good here - my boys are doing so well and Theo is just a little star. He has a new trick which is to walk round and round in cirlces and then try to walk in a straight line til he falls over - he thinks its so funny . Apparently he was doing it all day at nursery today which is why he now has a shiner on his left eye! Hopefully he'll learn soon that its not such a great idea.

honeyapple · 22/10/2008 09:31

hiya all

greedy- sounds like me! Perhaps you could just say to your kids sorry mummy was grumpy this morning etc... I think they need to know that sometimes we are grumpy/angry but that we can say sorry and then make up.

Dex still hasnt any teeth!! He is blooming miserable though with it- ow ow ow my NO teeth hurt! Very excited as he has just started doing a few steps- kind of hurls himself at me (and he only trusts me and wont walk to anyone else- big mummy's boy)

DS1 is off with school on a night away tommorrow- they are going to an adventure action outdoor type place- zip wires/ climbing trees etc. He is very excited- need to get a few bits today- the list from school is massive- dont know what bag it is going to all fit in .

anyway lots of love
hx

Bodkin · 22/10/2008 14:42

Hi all - just popping in quickly - I never seem to get time to post anymore!!!! What is going on with that!.... Funny you should say your LOs are getting harder work - I find the opposite! Although since she's had the MMR (last monday) Isla has really been suffering... plus also she's got some whopper molars on teh way too. Can't believe Dex has no teeth yet!!!! He'll probably wake up with the full set one morning

Mrs - glad to hear so far so good with you and that the shoulder pain is not an indicator of anything serious - but well done chooster for mentioning it - it's the kind of thing you'd never think of otherwise.

Greedy - i'm always rotten to the kids just before a period - my patience is the first thing to go. Luckily my too seem pretty forgiving.

well done Toby on those first steps - and fab that you saw them Fettle!

Isla's latest most adorably cute thing is cuddling up to me and saying "I yuff ooo" which I translate as "I Love You" She's started doing it to Nelly now too, much to her delight. However, she also likes coming up and sinking her teeth into my thigh while I'm trying to cook tea, so hope I haven't got another biter in the family

Hello everyone else that I've missed

Bodkin · 22/10/2008 14:44

Sorry, Honey, I missed that you said that Dex is taking his first steps too! Congrats little Dex!

Chooster · 22/10/2008 18:44

Wow, you've got a talker Bodkin!!! She sounds amazing and very very cute. You obviously have kids that are hard work for the first 9 months and then its plain sailing . Theo still just babbles... I told him the other day that Isla says night night (I think you must have mentioned that in an earlier post) and he just looked at me and stuck his tongue out . I'll have to fill him in that she's also saying "I love you"...

Aw, Dex is walking - fab - they're all getting so big and grown up aren't they. I wonder how cassius is and cityangels DS (I forgot his name )

Are you still with us babylove??

How were the kids when you got home from work greedy? Are you nice mummy again . I've been a bit sharp today as well and I feel really bloated - I think AF is one its way for me too...

All is good here - biggest thing is that my non-vegetable eating 4 yr old is now enjoying veg soup and actually ate 3 peas tonight . I think it was mainly because he knew he wouldn't get any apple pie if he didn't, but still progress is progress

fettle · 22/10/2008 19:13

Hi all

For some reason I can't seem to type very well on MS - page keeps crashing as well. But I'll try my best. Have to just keep typing and see what shows up on the pagea feww minutes later! So please excuse my spelling and typos as I can't see what I am writing!

Anyway, Honey - well done Dex on Walking - what a clever boy. Toby is still trying every day, but his preferred mode of tranport is still crawling - much faster!!

Bodders - Isla does sound advanced in her speaking - wanted to think that toby was saying na-na when asking for a banan this morning, but he sayd na-na to most things! DH got very excited though.

Mrs - how you feeling. Hope all is going smoothly and your muscle pain is sorting itwlf out?

Greedy - I frequenltly lose with with DC and DH for no real reason. Really think I might have to have the coil taken out as I hate not knowing what is going on with my body. I seem to have hehormonal outbursts, but no AF to prove it - very confusing, especially as the outbursts seem to happen pretty regularly. I hate shouting at DD particularly as one side of my brain is going you are being ridiculous - stop shouting, but my mouth keeps on shouting for no reason!!

Right - getting a bit annoyed with not being to see what I am writing so I'm going to have love and leave you - big waves to you all. hope those not posting so regularly are doing ok?

Hope you are all impressed with my touch-typing skills, as I really can't see what I'm saying!

If I don't get back on soon - hope you all have great half-terms - we have a wedding on Saturdday. DD is a flower girl and Toby has not been invited. RAther strange situation, but we're going to bring him and just keep him out of sight until time for bed and then hope he sleeps, but as he is really poorly at the moment we will probaly have to change our plans - not fair on him. But I don't want o miss seeing DD as a flower gril and my parents and sister are invited so can't babysit for us overnight and my in-laws have double-booked themselves[grr]

take care all

greedygreedyguzzler · 23/10/2008 15:43

i am back to being a fabulous mother everyone dont worry!!!!! AF is really mean and my hormaones just completely take me over, but i feel normal again.............and the kids have all been lovely! apart from marcy has taken to waking up even earlier. it was 5am this morning and when she wakes at 6am i give her her milk so i just did the same this morning at 5am which feels like a huge step backwards!
having said that she has got 4 new teeth this week! how good is that?!! after ages of teething they have all popped through together! ( i didnt even notice 2 of them cos they are the top 2 molars. hers are coming through in such a random order i do wonder what they will all look like when they are all through!

i though marcy was doing well with her talking, but not compared to isla! shes a clever saussage!!!

had ellis' parents consultation last night...........i was SO proud of him i nearly cried!!! (nothing to do with AF at all of course!!) his teacher said so many lovely lovely things about him, he really is such a superstar. i just hope the other two can live up to his high standards.................got a feeling when kiki has one it will be good and when marcy has one they will tell me she is disruptive in class, doesnt listen at all or do anything she is told and hits all the other children!!!

fettle - not THAT impressed with your touch typing skills to be honest!!! not up to your normal standards of spelling! more like one of my posts...........i can see what i am writing, but just cant be arsed to use capitals or go back and correct and typos!!!

OMG!!! rah has a BFP.............must go and have a look!!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 23/10/2008 15:54

AAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh! made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

MrsMcJnr · 23/10/2008 23:08

Sorry ladies, just a me, me, me post tonight We had a 2nd scan for B2 today. All fine , great in fact, good strong heartbeat (the scan machine even lets you hear the heartbeat!) Dr is a bit perplexed as last time I went exactly 3 weeks ago he thought the embryo was about 3 ½ weeks old and now it is 8! I am however much happier with the 8 as that is exactly what I thought! Dr says due date is 4 June but I still reckon 6th (or 9 days later if DS is anything to go by!). Nuchal etc on 20 November for me.

We?re breaking the news to the parents tomorrow and I am really nervous about my folk?s reaction. They need to know though I am so sick of my Mum?s comments about my diet clearly not working and that I have a fat tummy ? actually, I?ve lost 5 pounds in the last month! Wish me luck.

Hope to catch up with personals soon though we have friends and family descending now for DS?s baptism on Sunday

seaside72 · 24/10/2008 21:41

Evening all

Glad you are feeling better greedy! Wow what a superstar ellis is at school - I am dreaming that Cassius will be the same. We visited a gorgeous school down here the other week and DH and I have fallen in love with it so hope he will go to it - I keep pouring over the prospectus and imagining seeing Cassius in the little uniform
bodders - Isla's talking sounds so cute - I cannot wait for Cassius to be able to say something to me especially "I yuff you"!! SOOOO cute that she says it to Nelly too
Wow honey- Dex is walking so cool - is he wobbly or quite sturdy?!

Fettle - hope your weird wedding scenario (who invites a whole family but not the baby?? Who did they think was going to look after him???!! ) Sorry - I am very militant about childfree weddings - they should not be allowed!! If your friends have children it is up to them if they want to bring them or not. We had a creche with 3 child minders at our wedding and it was a massive hit (there were 23 children under 5 at our wedding!!!!)

Fantastic news on the veg eating chooster - When do they start to realise what veg are and refuse them? I was thinking that the other day as I shovelled Cassius's veg medley dinner down his gob - I was wondering when he will go "bleurgh" and asks for chips instead!

Hope that Jak is OK rainbowdays and that TTC is going well don't know where you get the energy!!

Mrs - so glad all went well with the scan and B2 is doing well - about the dates?? but then again I really think all those scans are so subjective. I am sure you are spot on with your days - Mummy knows best

Iammummy - hope your DH is feeling better - def get him to an osteopath/Greedy if he is no better. How is Oscar doing? Cassius is exactely the same - top 4 teeth coming in and he has never cried so much. Bless him he still sleeps well mostly but naps have gone cock-a-hoop and he seems to start crying out of the blue.

He has also just started to cruise a bit - along the coffee table and sofa - very funny - he will even go one handed. If he is leaning on the coffee table both hands come off and he grabs anything in reach. EVERYTHING is going in his mouth too - it is so gross. I have put the steriliser away as it was pointless! He is making lots of sounds now - clicking and smacking lips, raspberry blowing etc - all very cute! Can't believe he is 9 months already and that is has been 18 months since my BFP! - 9 months in and now 9 months out

Apart from that all is well with us - we were in Amsterdam last week which was fun. Flight over was awful - Cass cried and back arched and kicked - arghhhh. But way back was fine - he fell asleep - phew. Also he absolutely loved the hotel room as he could roam around (crawling) to his hearts content with very few danger areas! He is very frustrated now when he is not "free" - when he is in his carseat/buggy/being held etc and is desperate to walk.

I am worried about babylove too - hope she is OK - did a search for her and no posts since beginning of Oct?? maybe she is away??

Waves to Glimmer, Scorpio, firststar and cityangel if they are lurking.

Night night everyone - have a great weekend.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Chooster · 27/10/2008 13:16

Hi, just thought I would drag us up from the depths of the topic list! Busy weekend for everyone by the looks of things. It will all just get busier as well wont it as we get nearer xmas! .

Great to hear from you seaside! Cassius sounds like a real star! Good on him for still keeping up his good night time sleeping . Oooh, I sympathise with the flight with a screaming baby thing - we've only had that was on a short flight to London but it scarred me for ages afterwards . Glad to hear you enjoyed Amsterdam . Aw, even I have a lovely image of cassius in a cute little school uniform and I'm just imagining what he looks like! I think small boys look so gorgeous in a nice school uniform . Regarding the veg thing, max was never a fantastic eater but really started to turn his nose up at veg that looked like veg (if you know what I mean) at about 2... And its been a battle ever since - grrr.... Theo so far is totally different and eats anything that comes in the vicinity of his mouth .

Great news on B2 Mrsmc!!! . It all sounds like its progressing well . How did it go when you told your parents? I hope they were supportive and not bringing up too many supposed problems with having another. I know you said that particularly your mum hadn't been that helpful. And I can't believe she makes such awful personal comments about your weight! . I'd get so annoyed at my mum (or anyone really) who told me my diet was clearly not working and I had a fat tum . I always thought you looked fab . And how was the baptism??? I hope it went well - it must have been so good to see all your friends and family in one place again since moving away... You must post some pics!

That does seem wierd about the wedding fettle - Seems odd Toby wasn't invited, especially as DD had such an big role to play as well . What happended in the end?

Aw, you must be so proud of Ellis Greedy - he seems like such a wonderful mature little boy . I really hope max will be like that, and I alwyas thought he was until the nursery told me he bit another child last week . It was a friend of his as well, and he said he thought it would be funny... I think maybe it stems from Theo biting his grandfather who was laughing and turning it into a game. As Max was there maybe he just got confused - I forget he's only 4...

Anyway, better go - got a meeting in 15 mins and am not fully prepared . All good here, very stormy weather at the weekend as I'm sure you all did - trees down in our road which Max loved! In fact he adn DH collectd some wood for out outdoor wood burner last night and lit it. DS1 was there drinking hot chocolate and DH drinking wine watching the fire. They looked like 2 old men chewing the fat .

Also, dont know whether I mentioned it but DH bought me a indoor climbing lesson and I'm going tonight!! Am SO SO excited, its something I really fancy doing but never really thought I'd do it. I'll let you know how it goes

Was babylove moving??? Or am I getting confused?

iamamummy · 30/10/2008 17:15

hi ladies

just thought i would bump us up a bit. all is okish here. i am job hunting and tooing and frowing about whats right for oscar and basically just going round in circles. dp is finally on the mend. thanks for your support!

hello to everyone really hope to come back and post properly soon!!! xxx

honeyapple · 31/10/2008 12:14

happy halloween everyone

MrsMcJnr · 31/10/2008 23:04

Hey ladies just quickly getting you back on my list I have been so so sick recently - was sick 8 times at Kids Kingdom yesterday uggh! hope you are all well and I'll catch up properly very soon x

greedygreedyguzzler · 02/11/2008 20:18

hello all! i know its been half term and everyone is busy with the kids/babies, but this is getting ridiculous!!! DH is watching the grand prix.................and so i have poured myself a nice big glass of wine and i was looking forward to coming on here to catch up with everyones news..........................and i have only missed about 4 posts!!! come on everyone start posting again!!!

we were on holiday last week, which i think i forgot to mention! we went to a really cute farmhouse in Belgium for the weekend and then on to centerparcs in holland for the rest of the week. it was really reaaly good.................anyone who hasnt been to centerparcs and has young children should DEFINATELY go! its not exactly the height of luxury, but its so perfect for kids and if they are happy, im happy!!! marcy was a bit young for it all really, but she did love the swimming pool. chooster..............you should try one in europe........i know you are a fan, and its so much cheaper! also, how was your climbing lesson? i (stupidly) made the mistake of saying how easy i thought it looked to climb up a climbing wall once and then net thing i knew i had a lesson booked for me by dh for mothers day!!! it was great fun though. hope you enjoyed it!

mrs - so sorry you are feeling so sicky. hope it doesnt last for long for you. i can still remember the feeling so clearly.

seaside - cant believe cassius is 9 months already. i can remember your BFP so clearly..........i seem to remember i got ridiculously excited and you were so cool and calm about it, not testing till about 20 dpo or something daft! when are you going to ttc again?

marcy has been a real cutie the past few days. but she is very hard work at the moment and dh and i have finally decided that we are going to stop at 3. no more babies for us! i think centerparcs really made us realise that it would be silly for us to have anymore. we went with friends who only have 2, the same age as our big 2 and i realised that there are lots of things that ours miss out on because we have marcy. i know in another year or so they will all be able to do stuff together more and so i dont want to make things difficult again by having another baby. plus our house isnt big enough, or our car......................have i convinced you all that i am convinced!!!???? think dh might even get snipped! we are going to wait till xmas and make sure we havent changed our minds before we do anything though........

honeyapple - hows everyhting with you then? have you done lots of stuff to your house? hows dex's walking? marcy is almost there...................i think!!

ok, better go and check out the rest of MN........

rainbowdays · 02/11/2008 20:38

Hi greedy here is a post for you!!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 02/11/2008 20:43

not a very long one though rainbow! didnt take me long to read that at all!!! hows the ttc going?

rainbowdays · 02/11/2008 20:55

Whoops ok I will write a proper post now.

Greedy - Great to hear that marcy has been such a cutie for you. But - oh! you have disappointed me in not going for number 4! I am now feeling the effect of going from 2 to 3 too, but I love the craziness of it all, and feel that a forth child will not be all that more difficult than 3, and I would really like a sibling close in age to Jak too. If I don't get pregnant soon then we will also be stopping at 3.

MrsMc - sorry to hear that you are feeling so sick, but glad that things are going well with the pregnancy.

Chooster - how was the climbing lesson?

Honey - well done dex on walking to mummy.

Well Jak is now crawling! well moving in a forward direction intentionally definitely, but it looks more like a whale on a beach, with him doing massive press-up onto arms and left foot, then hurling himself forwards. He has learnt that on the tiles in the kitchen he can slide fast!

Jak is a carnivor too, refused baby rice point blank, and will not eat mushed vegatables unless it has meat stock with it. He loves anything with strong flavours. Managed to drop all his night feeds now - phew, just need him to start sleeping through the night now.

hi to everyone else
