Happy Birthday Marcy

greedygreedyguzzler · 10/10/2008 20:45

how sweet! thanks everyone, i will let her know in the morning that you all said happy birthday.....................and she will probably hit me!!!

had a bit of a crap day actually! kiki came down with the sickness bug that ellis had last night. so we had 6 or 7 spectacular pukes in about 5 hours. she is such a superstar though and didnt even get upset or make a fuss at all (unlike her big brother when he had it!) so we had to stay in today cos i didnt think it was fair to take her out, so poor marcy didnt get t do anything exciting! she got mainly clothes for presents, but we did buy her a wooden ball drop thing and a bright pink ride on toy as well........................time to throw away some of the other big toys in the house i think!

honey - so glad your friend got some milk from somewhere. marcy is a pain at night times too at the moment...........whatever went wrong with her hey?

got to go.............im feeling a bit sick (not sure if its all in my mind, or if i will be up all night puking!)

Bodkin · 10/10/2008 22:09

A belated Happy Birthday to Marcy! Sorry to hear that your lot are all suffering - hope you aren't coming down with it too!

Honey - stopped feeding Isla a few weeks after she turned 1, cut down very slowly, eventually only feeding once every couple of days or so if I was feeling really full. I have to say I have felt about a million times better since I have stopped... loads more energy and just feel more like "me". Still getting a few rubbish nights though. I seem to remember that Nelly was a champion sleeper by this age, but that is prob. just rose tinted glasses!
When is Dex's birthday by the way?

Byeeee!

Chooster · 12/10/2008 22:02

Hi all! Happy Birthday Marcy!!! How's the sickness Greedy - Hope it didn't turn into anything nasty... I'm sure Kiki looks fab in her specs! Is she still proud of them? She sounds like such an angel when you describe her . Theo is also a bit of a basher, and I just try to keep telling him 'no' and taking him away from max whenever he whacks him. Poor Max just sits and takes it as he knows he gets into trouble if he retaliates - poor bugger... Nursery have also said that Theo can be a bit rough with the other babies, but its just that he's a bit heavy handed with his cuddles . He also joins the 'somtimes pain in the arse at night' gang.... Although I have the say that the last 2 weeks has been especially great. I think he's slept straight through all but one night and today didn't wake til 8am . Of course bloody typical, Max has now developed a fear of the shadows in his room? . And he gets up at least once a night... I'm sure they are in cahoots those 2 in order to stop me having a solid nights sleep...

Sorry to hear about DP's back Iamamummy - did a night on the tiles help? I know its such a worry with all the talk of recession - sorry to hear you are having to consider a return to work when you didn't really want to. Its a tough choice but it may be worth prolonging the need to decide as long as you can. When is your year mat leave up? Could you take an extended leave period as well or will they consider that as good as a resignation?

Honey, Great news that your friend has got some milk for her DD... And to hear that she's doing so well... How are you settling in to the new house?

Mrs - SO glad that DH came round although it may still be worth a chat to see what triggered his response... Any word from your mum? Are you going to hold out or tell her? And how are you feeling?

Better be off - all is well here, just been a bit busy with work and the kids etc... Its my mums 70th b'day tomorrow so we are having a good day in town and lunch at Harvey Nic's - hope its all OK...

By the way, can I just see if you guys think I over-reacted at the juice incident? Sometimes I just dont know if I expect too much, but DH did it out of frustration not trying to lighten the mood. I just think it gives a bad lesson to Max about how to behave, but like I say maybe I'm being a bit too harsh... Anyway, let me know what you think???

See's you all later!!!

x

greedygreedyguzzler · 12/10/2008 22:13

chooster - i would have gone MAD if my dh had done that with the juice, so, 'no' i dont think you over reacted at all.

.....................must go to bed...................

.pssssst...........just spied rainbowdays on the temp buddies thread!!

honeyapple · 13/10/2008 16:29

chooster- have to agree- i would have got a little cheesed off with DP if he had done the juice thing. But I think we all can sometimes act a bit irrationally under stress. Hope he realised it was a bit of a daft thing to do.

Has anyone heard from babylove? Hope she's ok. When was her due date?

Bodders- thinking of stopping BF- I only do it a bit in the day- mainly just in early morning when I cant be arsed to get out of bed! However it doesnt seem to be satisfying Dex then either- he has had me up about 6.30am the last few days. Probably normal for some of you- but I dont like it!

Greedy- is Marcy on a cup then? I remember you were trying to get rid of bottles. Dex is having more milk out of a cup- was wondering whether to ditch the bottles- but he does love them.

Dexter's favourite thing at the moment is pulling things out of things... food out the cupboards, washing out the laundry basket, pissy nappies out the nappy bucket... I am forever putting things back- and wondering why am I bothering??? My house looks like a tornado has ripped through it.

right off to take DD swimming now
love to all

honeyapple · 13/10/2008 16:30

meant to say-

better go sneak in on the temp buddies thread to give rainbowdays some positive vibes...

fettle · 13/10/2008 17:06

Greedy - what you doing onthe temp thread???!!! Good on you Rainbow though!!

Chooster - I would have been furious with DH if he had poured juice over DD! The mess on the carpet for one thing and what it was showing DD for another. But Honey is right, sometimes you do things in the heat of the moment without thinking [wouldn't have stopped me from probably throwing something at him!, which wouldn't have been a very mature thing to do either, would it?]
Hope you have a fabulous day out - lunch at Harvey Nics - very jealous!!!

Honey - great to hear your friend has managed to get some BM from somewhere for her baby. I miss feeding Toby, but I'm so glad I gave up, as it is lovely having my evenings back (that was when I was still feeding him). He's a dream to put to bed now (jinxed myself now haven't I and DH isn't home today!). Also agree with why bother tidying!! I just seem to spend my life cleaning the high chair and picking up things from underneath it!

Mrs - hope everything is ok with DH now?

Right - best go through my 2 mucky pups in the bath and get them to bed.

xxx

Chooster · 13/10/2008 19:30

Thanks ladies - dont feel like I over-reacted then .

We had a fab day today in town and a delicious lunch although having a 4 yr old and a 15 month old does kind of ruin the moment! theo just would not sit still mainly because he'd just wokem from his nap and was ready for action, not sitting at a table for an hour!. But the boys did behave well and got treats from my mum at Hamley's . felt quite sad for my mum though as she is just crippled with arthritis now, she needs a walker (zimmer thing) to walk and can only do very small disctances. Its in her wrists and neck now as well so she's in constant pain, but still manages to smile her way through. Today just really showed me how limited her mobility is .

And, I am exhausted!!!! Trying to keep tabs on the boys and try to make sure mum had fun has left me shattered so an early night for me...

I've also had a total mind blank about when Max was a toddler, but when do / did your kids first use a pillow and duvet in their cot / cot bed?

rainbowdays · 13/10/2008 20:56

Cor! you can't have any secrets around here can you , yep, dh has conceded to ttc#4 !!!!! We are in many ways not actively ttc, but definitely not taking precautions. Due to still breastfeeding at night, temping is not possible anyway. But we will see what happens. At 40 I do not think my chances are very high, and I will not be trying for very long as I do not want to be giving birth at 45! But would love one more to complete the set! Thank you greedy and honey for the positive vibes.

Chooster, I can't remember when I introduced a pillow in the cotbeds either!

Fettle - I have just started on the highchair cleaning lark, I hoping that it does not last for long, but you have just reminded me that it does

Babylove must be due anytime now?

Well Jak is getting tired so must go to bed now.

honeyapple · 13/10/2008 22:29

rainbow- good luck with the TTC .

Fettle- I was kind of wanting to BF up to Dex's birthday- which is on 5th november- so will see- but I havent fed him at all today since 6am- usually he has a little bit at some point in the day.

Chooster- Dex already has a little duvet in his bed (is this a bad idea?) but dont think i gave DS1 and DD a pillow until they were quite a bit older- about 3? Glad you had a nice (although exhausting) day.

bit worried about babylove- she was such a reliable poster.

night night

MrsMcJnr · 13/10/2008 22:47

Hello ladies

All fine here now thanks Fettle though DH is now suffering from morning sickness ! I've had some spotting so that is scary but I am trying to slow down a bit but it's not easy when Xavier is now so mobile.

Rainbowdays - all the best hon!

Chooster - I'm sorry about your Mum, that must be hard what do you think about all the banking stuff?! wow!

Huge wave to everyone x

fettle · 15/10/2008 20:01

Hi All

Didn't want us to disappear of the list again! haven't got long though to chat, just wanted to say that Toby is walking!!! Well he's taking about 6-10 steps now before falling over! And this time I wasn't at work and I actually saw it happen - so so pleased (can you tell how happy I am?!). didn't think it affected me that much that I missed DD's first steps because I was at work. So glad it was today and not tomorrow when he's at nursery.

Best get him shoes now......

back later, if DH allows!!

xxx

Chooster · 15/10/2008 20:23

Hey!!! Well dont Toby! Its so lovely when they take their first steps - I love buying their little shoes too! Just got some new ones for Theo on Monday and they are so cute - got him some tiny little wellies too as he is forever jumoing in puddles .

Hope the spotting has gone Mrs? Its so easy to forget what a worry pregnancy can be, but I hope all is well with you and DH. Thanks for the newsletter . I know the work situation is very wierd. Working for HBOS as I do we're not sure who we work for anymore . We'll just have to see what comes out in the wash... With the bank shares so low though I'm almost tempted for a little investment, if only I had the spare cash and felt a bit more confident about my work situation.

Anyway, better dash! Speak soon xx

Chooster · 15/10/2008 20:24

Oops, sorry for the spelling errors! Needless to say I meant well done Toby!

greedygreedyguzzler · 16/10/2008 14:50

dh and i are off to a wedding tomorrow! I know its a friday, but i guess its cheaper! anyway, its 3 1/2 hour drive away and no kids allowed................so we are having a night off! i am so stupidly excited its untrue!!! kind of thinking it would be nice to skip the wedding and just chill out in the hotel for the day. I really hope little marcy monster doesnt wake up at 6.15am for my mum like she has the past week for me or she will never offer again (not that she actually offered this time!)

anyway. well done toby for walking! marcy seems to be getting close too, which amazes me cos about 3 weeks ago she still couldnt pull herself up, but now she actually seems close to walking on her own. I will probably still be here at xmas saying the same thing. 2 more teeth have popped through too which is i think one of the reasons she has been such a monster recently!

i have put a recent pic up

rainbowdays - sorry! still lurking on the temp buddies thread (not sure why, think i want to keep track on lotties progress) but i read about your 'cyber punch up'. how funny!

babylove babylove........where are you?!!!

have fab weekends all!

honeyapple · 16/10/2008 15:19

well done toby on walking

Greedy- great pic of the monster- you mean you didnt bake her bday cake? shame on you!!
have a fab time at the wedding- very jealous of no kids- I feel exhausted and a bit swamped at the moment- definitely not considering number 4 anymore...

x

greedygreedyguzzler · 16/10/2008 17:15

how strange honey, cos thats exactly how i feel at the moment. i think they become much harder work when they get to this sort of age dont they? i am a bit worried i will forget what this stage is like though and how tough its been, and suddenly when marcy hits 2 i will want another one. definately not considering it anymore either! got the condoms packed for this weekend already!!! (still havent found a good contraceptive solution!)

Glimmer · 17/10/2008 00:48

Hi everybody - I just found this thread after a long time off mumsnet. Do you remember me - it's me Glimmer! Well, for those who do: we moved back to the US, and had our delightful son in November, so he's almost 11 months.
Everything's well except that DH will lose his job next year :-(, so we are again looking. (I am currently employed, so we can survive). Interesting, that broodiness strikes again: I also want another, but am still BFing and fertility has not yet returned.

Congrats to the BFP, MrsMCJ!
Firststar - sorry to hear you are taking a break, but I understand. I remember your DH having kids from a previous marriage, so it's a difficult one....
Uki - what a shock, but it explains the mcs. Is the chromosomal abnormality causing the mcs? And is it an issue that your children may be carriers? Well, I am sure you have thought a lot about it, but is IVF a preferable option over try and see (and be prepared). (I hope this is not an insensitive question, I know how heartbreaking a mc is, but I guess IVF has its own challenges.).

Well, I am so glad I found you!

MrsMcJnr · 17/10/2008 22:12

Hey ladies all good here, tired, spotty and sicky but all is as it should be at this stage!

Fettle ? walking hey! Fab! and here was me proud because Xavier learnt today that blowing raspberries is far more fun of someone?s flesh I?m with you on seeing them do things for the first time, I am so grateful that I have seen all his firsts so far

Hey Chooster ahh Theo is wellies, how cute! No more spotting thank god!

Rainbowdays ? cyber punch up? Tell us more!

Greedy ? hope you are enjoying that wedding I got married on a Friday by the way!! Marcy is sooo sweet! looks like an angel!

Hey Honey

Glimmer so lovely to hear from you!! Congrats on your son, I can?t wait to hear all about him! Tell us more, more, more!!

Where?s Uki? Uki are you around hon? What?s this about chromosomes hon?

MrsMcJnr · 17/10/2008 22:40

Finally added some recent pics to my profile

Glimmer · 18/10/2008 00:17

Hi everybody. MrsMCJ - Well, he's unbelievable cute & gorgeous (surprise, surprise), he has been pulling himself up for months, but is not yet walking. Right now he "talks" a lot (although bilingual children tend to start to speak later) and we are taking a class for sign language for hearing kids. He has figures out how to unplug the safety plugs on the outlets :-o , so we had to upgrade...

It's so exciting that you are pg again. You might remember I spotted a lot - for me it was good sign.

All the best.

MrsMcJnr · 18/10/2008 22:14

Glimmer - what is your second language? I've forgotten I'm going to do all I can to make sure DS is bi-lingual (you know we live in Spain now?)

Glimmer · 19/10/2008 04:41

I am German and heard that the sign language can be good to "bridge" the two languages.

Yes, MrsMcJ, I inferred from your posts that you are now living in the sun! I am sure your DCs will be bi-lingual without any problem, since you speak English at home (?) and they will learn Spanish when with others. In my case it's just me with the "secret" language, so it might be a bit more tricky.

Do you enjoy living in Spain? Did you make friends and are those mostly immigrated or Spanish?

greedygreedyguzzler · 19/10/2008 20:27

hey glimmer , i remember you from when you had your bleeding in pg and i told you all about mine! my little one has just turned 1 which is hard to believe! what is your ds called?

mrs - cute pics of X! he looks very grown up! you had to throw in a nice sunny pic on the beach didnt you?!!!

the wedding we went to was FAB! drank far far too much, but really really enjoyed our one night of freedom! wont happen again for a while im sure! all the kids were good for my mum so at least she didnt have to get up in the night.

i came on the pc cos dh is watching the grand prix that he recorded and i had something that i desperately wanted to google.................but...........now i am on here i have completely forgotten what it was!!!....................dont you just hate that!!??
