Come here and obsess about mucus, etc.
Have fun.
Try not to swear too much.
Oh actually, go for it.
The phrase "any news?" is BANNED. Offenders will be sat on by the most overdue woman present.

Was on previous thread- dropped in to say Orla Grace was born on 18th July at 03:34 weighing 8lb 11. As anticipated she has jaundice so we are still in hosp. Maybe out by the w/e.
Birth was truly wonderful, and was an induction, for those of you worried about that. Will post full story later when not using dire hosp internet.
Congrats to all those whose babies finally arrived.

Not doing well here munmmy2bsoon. Just had complete tearful breakdown. I am so fed up and uncomfy and dreading another night of no sleep as I can't get comfy and thinking every twinge could be it. my mother has to leave on Thursday, having been here for 2 1/2 weeks, and I have no one else to look after DCs. DH is working about 2 1/2 hours away. I am scared, annoyed, uncomfy, stressed!

sorry1

pp cephalic +2 is a measurement of where the baby's head is in relation to the pelvic bones (I think). Posterior means that the baby's back is facing your back - which is not great as ideally you want them to have their back facing outwards and to your left. Obviously he/she can still move at any point...

Squarah · 22/07/2008 19:37

pp is to do with the position of the cervix - it is not the same as OP which is back-to-back.
+2 is the position of the baby's head within the pelvis and means it is really low.

All sounding normal and the pp bit can change over a matter of hours anyway - when the cervix is "riper" it moves forward while thinning etc. So all positive really!

I am feeling really uncomfortable -right leg very swollen (no it's not a DVT!) and SPD playing up - in the last 24hrs I've had 2 curries, one jiggy jiggy, one big supermarket trip and a long waddle and still nothing.... looks like I'll be waiting for the MW to give me a stretch and sweep on Thursday after all...!

Lots of hugs and support all round ladies.

Hugs and

Hi all,

40+4 here and still no sign of labour starting. Am having a sweep on Thursday and was just wondering how likely it is to kick-start the process.

Report
EEC · 22/07/2008 20:32

mummy2bsoon - thank you for your support. feeling a bit better now. Due date was 13th July.

sophrosyne1 - As far as I can work out a sweep is only likely to have any effect if you are nearly ready anyway - ie cervix is 'favourable'. I had one last week and nothing, am going to try again tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Morning gals - I'm pretty sure I had my show this morning. Am excited but not really sure what this means timing-wise. I think it means soon but not necessarily right now so I'm going out for tea and cakes with my other non-popped NCT buddies to distract myself.

Hope it was - I'm due tomorrow - that would be so cool if I was one of the 5%!

Good luck to the others still waiting to pop!

Back from mw. Good news - LO has turned again and is no longer OP! Bad news, head completely free so birth not imminent and she could not do a sweep.

She was really nice though and phoned the hospital for me. I am going in today at three to see if they can have a go, and also to discuss induction dates. They suggest Monday, but DH is away then, and I also have no one to look after the children as my mum will be gone by then and MIL can only come for w/e. She told me to turn on the water works and get them to book me in for Saturday (40+12). I so hope it doesn't come to that!

Feeling very down again today after no sleep and my mum leaving tomorrow. LO moved all night long (a good thing I guess as it is no longer back to back).

Hoping Pigley has her baby by now!

ok we are due today, so there is no reason for these little ones not to arrive v soon.

I had yet another sweep at hosp yesterday but the mw barely touched me IME sweep are also dependant on who does them and how thorough they are.

SHO at hosp yesterday says head couldn't be any more engaged, cervix fully effaced, 1cm dilated just got to wait for labour now!!

Good luck with your sweep today hope you have more look than me x

Hatrick - that sounds scary but amazing - well done you on remaining in control as mcuh as possible. Sorry you didn't get your HB but sounds like you might have had a rather interesting transfer later in labour if you'd tried I guess!

Yes, jamiesummers, I'm hoping the sweeping will be a good rummage - feeling very ready and excited about it all and why shouldn't our Leo babies come out on their due dates?!

I wish it would cool down 'though....might try to get out the paddling pool but trying not to scare the neighbours!

10 days over now. Had stretch and sweep yesterday and had mildly painful contractions every five mins for about 5 hours afterwards. Just started to let myself get excited and then they fizzled out. I hoped they would start again in the night but nothing. I am now back to my normal frequent but irregular BH, which are obviously doing nothing. Want to scream with frustration. Am booked in now for induction on Saturday. I'm very nervous about it now after all the spiel they give you about increased risks of c section etc. All very negative I thought. Please please come naturally LO!

The day is not yet over and I am already getting calls to see if I have had baby yet, you'd at least think they would get my due date over with 1st before hasseling me to " get a move on " or " let him go " or " any niggles yet, any signs "
Well yes actually I've been gettibg niggles for a week, I've had a very green slimy show that I didn't really want to discuss with all you morons who keep ringing but I still am not in labour yet not even actually overdue!!!
New rants to come soon I'm sure x

Oooof, 4 days over now, which is when I went into labour with DS, but that was at 6am so I'm already behind that schedule ... spoke to doula about period-type pains and she said it could be the cervix either thinning or effacing (couldn't quite hear her properly on the phone!!), anyway, all good news.

Went to friend's wedding yesterday and managed not to go into labour, very polite of me I thought, although with all the standing up my feet were so swollen by the end that even my flip-flops were tight!

Called midwife unit this a.m about stretch and sweep and they were in the middle of an emergency (I hate that, when people are a bit shirty with you about it - well don't answer the phone then!! they have an answer phone for just such occasions) but seemed to think they would be able to fit me in this afternoon. Let's hope that they can, and that it works!!

Mummy2bsoon - don't think there is anything you can actually do, just wait and see what happens next... good luck!
