My mother and sister keep threatening me with a super quick 2nd birth as their's were 3hrs and 1.5hrs respectively. My sister gave birth unassisted on the bathroom floor whilst waiting for an ambulance. She says it was fine but I'm not sure I fancy it myself.

Am off to cook a super hot curry...

That's my biggest fear this time round - labouring alone. Even in my worst case scenario imaginings there is always someone there by the end!! Yikes.

MamaG - first birth in hospital, we were almost like casual observers, very managed, lots of 'this is what we're going to do now' and no explanations. Lost count of how many people had a rummage, was monitored, waters broken for me, drip, epidural then episiotomy and forceps (I stupidly thought I wouldn't feel the forceps because of the epidural. Guess what - epidurals ain't that strong).

This time... well who knows, but we have booked a doula and are planning home water birth, much to family suprise. My Dad's comment: 'You do know giving birth hurts don't you? A lot!' Me: 'Er, which one of us here has done this before??!'
So even if we end up in hospital again I'm hoping for a very different experience.

Not to get my own hopes up but I am having mild period-type pains right now.. hmmm... mind you I wake up with them every morning and all it ends up being is, er, a 'clear-out'.

ButterflyMcQueen · 12/07/2008 20:07

quorn sausage rolls for me - with watercress rocket grated carrot etc

dont want to get bunged up

want mine to stay put now for 13th!! probably all the cue it needs to arrive

fryalot · 12/07/2008 20:08

that's pretty much exactly what I had for my rl tea (well, minus the quorn)

twas yummy.

Anything special about the 13th, or are you just looking forward to Casualty?

lulumama · 12/07/2008 20:10

those quorn sausage rolls are great

cool, i love these threads

who is most overdue and pissed off?

ButterflyMcQueen · 12/07/2008 20:10

no i do not want 13th - how pathetic is that?

i did this with my last delivery - lay still all day on 13th - he came on 14th!

fryalot · 12/07/2008 20:13

aaah, butterfly, I see what you mean now!

lulu - they're all pretty pissed off but I think Franny's just got the edge. Hatrick nearly had us going with her "waters breaking" but it turned out to be just an upended cup of tea

I have been politely requested to refrain from cooking any fakon as it is disgusting icky stuff and they're all vegetarians here so none of the real stuff.

Have baked loads of virtual cakes and scones though, so that's okay.

ButterflyMcQueen is winning the "bet who's going to have their baby first" race so far

i swear in my heart and head i feel six months gone

despite what i assume is a 'bruising'pain (is that possible after the sweep - it is all tender to touch from outside and in????) i have no inkling at all that i am due - dont feel big - barely any reflux - no spd - bizarre

ButterflyMcQueen · 12/07/2008 20:18

ok hatrick ::::::vibes:::::::

hope your dinner was fun...i am lying flat for 24 hours now!

FrannyandZooey · 12/07/2008 20:28

Yes I think Franny is the most pissed off.

Will you be induced at 10 days Franny, or more? - or will you hang on and tell them to piss orf if they suggest induction?

MamaG · 12/07/2008 20:31

we'll know when Hatrick has the baby, as she'll change her name to HatrickPlusIckleSoldier

MamaG · 12/07/2008 20:33

ooh I've just had a great idea

overdue bingo!

Stock of phrases to use when people phone up, first one to use them all gets a hit of gas & air

  1. ACtually it turns out I'm not pg after all, I'd just eaten a lot of pie.
  1. I'm actually pushing as we speak. Can I call you back?
  1. Hang on a minute until I get the head out - what were you saying?
  1. hello? hello? CRRRRRRRRRRRRR I can't hear you?
  1. JUST FUCK OFF AND DON'T RING ME AGAIN
popsycal · 12/07/2008 20:35

just lurking
I cant believe that franny and hatrick are (over??) due! Time flies!
Good luck everyone. I am having a day of 'knitting needle up the fanjo' sensations today.
Nice.

FrannyandZooey · 12/07/2008 20:43

I am having a sweep on day 10
plan to have sweep every 2 days if it doesn't work
frighteningly helpfully they are being completely ok about me being overdue
midwife says I don't need to see a consultant at all
can leave it for as long as I feel appropriate
can have monitoring or not
they will advise induction but is my choice

bugger
bit scary isn't it?
I really admire when I read the stories of the 10 m pg who then have healthy delivery but not sure if I have the nerve
do I lose chance for homebirth after 14 days also?

I like overdue bingo

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 12/07/2008 20:44

oh I'm the baby then at a mere 2 days overdue

I have a craving for a feta cheese salad whats that all about? Had a cheese, tomato, mushroom, onion and sweetcorn pizza for dinner, thinking about what else to eat but acid reflux bad right now so waiting it to calm down.

I am SOOOOOOO bored.

MamaG · 12/07/2008 20:45

I'm glad they're not pushing you into anything franny.

Where's that bloody lulu gone, she'll know the home birth answer

MamaG · 12/07/2008 20:50

and so will the beautiful, clever and kind MarsLady

FrannyandZooey · 12/07/2008 20:51

thing is I only had a 25 day cycle when I conceived and I know for sure I ovulated early that month anyway

however they are just going on the dates on that spinny chart thing

so I think I am actually more overdue than 8 days

bit scary
