Evening all 💕 currently laying in bed feeling sorry for myself during a family party (my DP’s mum’s 60th sadly) as the nausea seems to really hit in the evenings.

Random question, how is everyone getting on with working whilst feeling sicky and tired? I completely appreciate some of you will have ‘in person’ jobs where WFH is not possible and I seriously respect those who are in the position as you must be super women! I personally have an office job so I am considering asking for some flexibility as I have a nearly 2 hour commute into London a few days a week. I have been off work on annual leave this week as was away in Devon, so it’s been lovely to not have to think about work and stop for the odd nap during the day with no guilt. Is it common for workplaces to allow WFH during early and late pregnancy where possible? I don’t want to take the piss but at the same time my job can 100% be done from home. Just wondering what everyone else is perhaps doing/not doing!

I’m really lucky with my manager but I will definitely be asking to work from home for the foreseeable, and I’m only a fifteen minute drive away! Let alone a 2 hour commute. Are your work normally quite good?

@Bs93They are generally quite good overall, I had an ectopic pregnancy around the same last year and was signed off of work for 5 weeks. I don’t know if I’m being paranoid but I just feel ever since then, if I need some time off for an appointment they seem to be a bit stricter with ‘making the time back up’ etc. Definitely could be in my head (I don’t plan on staying in my job much longer, was only staying for the enhanced maternity) 🫣

When I said about WFH last week my manager was fine with it but went more down the route of ‘if you decide on the morning you can’t come in then let me know and it’s fine’ rather than giving me permission to WFH until I feel better. But I will speak to her this week as I’m not wasting money on train tickets to then not come in!

Hi, yes joining too :) due 22nd Oct.

CannaeBelieveIt · 13/03/2026 14:46

Hello, joining as well :)
Due on 31st October, first pregnancy and an IVF pregnancy. Had a freak out as nausea and symptoms seemed to disappear for a few days but had a scan at an EPU and all fine. Thankfully going to have fairly regular scans because of my medical history. Feeling rubbish again now, which actually feels better than when I worried I didn’t feel pregnant. Argh!

Guys can I have some help not sure if this is the best place to ask so please forgive me if not.

I am estimated 7weeks5days pregnant today and went for an early scan to be told there is a gestation sack but no sign of baby

He said it could be a case that my dates are wrong as he said what he can see shows symptoms of a 5-6 week pregnsncy. He said to go back in 2 weeks.

I feel devastated, but also trying to remain hopeful.
I’ve never heard of this before has anyone had this happen and had success? Shall I be realistic and count this as a missed miscarriage now?

i don’t even know what to do next.
Sorry for the negativity
Thanks in advance xx

@Queenpee21hi,

unfortunately I had something similar happen a few years ago.

private scan was measuring about 5 weeks and had a heartbeat but I knew my exact dates and should have been 7 weeks.

At the time I scrolled and scrolled forums and found lots of outcomes that were quite mixed really, some went back and had caught up and others it was the first signs of miscarriage.

I think I knew it wasn’t good news from the first scan and about 2 weeks later I miscarried naturally.

I know it’s not what you wanted to hear, but I also felt more prepared when it happened reading others outcomes.

I would say is there’s is every chance, especially if you could be unsure on your dates. If you have fully tracked ovulation and your BBT and can pinpoint when this is that’s obviously less unlikely but if not there is every chance you ovulated late.

Another story, slightly different but after a few miscarriages we had early scans with EPU and my last pregnancy was measuring 5 weeks at a 6 weeks scan and I thought the same was happening (although again still a heartbeat and only 1 week difference not 2) went back for a scan at what they’d put at 9 weeks but would have been 10 and baby had all caught up and was measuring 10 weeks. And is now a thriving 2 year old.

Hope it works out for you, the wait is the worst, and I totally get how you’ll be feeling x

Hi! I am due October 17th and also with an IVF baby! I keep pinching myself that it actually worked!

GamerGirl09 · 14/03/2026 09:21

Hey @pepperminticecream! It’s so crazy isn’t it! I unfortunately had an early miscarriage last year with my first transfer and this embryo we transferred (second transfer) only had a 2.7/10 chance of success but it’s fighting!! With it being such a long journey and with what happened last year I’ve had 3 scans already 🙈 each one I was absolutely convinced it was all going to end but nah the little gummy bear is thriving 🥹 really can’t believe it!! Happy to be your due date neighbour ♥️

camelinastorm · 28/03/2026 09:25

Hi all can I join due 1st of October
ttc for 7 years 3 years of IVF may many transfers and the last attempt I have got a positive that got past 12 weeks, anxiety is through the roof, still dread going for scans as been in the ‘sad room’ so many times but I’ve made it to 13 weeks no real symptoms other than bloating from my meds and tiredness have an 11 year old so huge age gap going on

camelinastorm · 13/04/2026 10:47

Hi all has anyone been given the weight of the baby from a scan, just had my 15 week scan all was great, they said weight was 117g this is the top end as it says between 70-117g for this gestation, the femur length however was smack on 15 weeks

So sorry I’m only responding now. How’s your pregnancy going?

I completely understand the worry after loss. I had four losses before this pregnancy and I’m still anxious but starting to feel like it’s actually going to work. I’m 13.5 weeks today and just had an ultrasound and baby is looking good. It’s such a relief.

GamerGirl09 · 15/04/2026 11:50

@pepperminticecream going well so far thankfully! NIPT came back ‘very low risk’ thankfully which we’re so grateful we did as they couldn’t get the NT measurement at the dating scan (baby being stubborn 🤣). I’m 13+3 now and will be under consultant led care due to it being an ivf pregnancy. Had a call with the consultant yesterday though and she said because of a couple pre-existing health conditions I have I’ll be put on aspirin and blood thinner injections asap all the way through pregnancy 🙃 just when you think you’re done with injections 🤣

Glad to hear baby looks good at your last scan 🫶🏻

We have so many similarities! My NIPT came back low too, and I’m under specialist care for an IVF baby. We also found out the cord attached to the side of the placenta so we have to keep a close eye on that. The specialist said she wasn’t concerned and she sees it all the time but it means extra scans (which I’m not mad about!).

I am on aspirin to but not the injections. It’s wild how we get use to injecting ourselves from IVF!

Are they going to induce you by 39 weeks. I was told that they won’t allow me to go past 39 weeks since it’s an IVF baby.

Blondepeach · 15/04/2026 17:30

Hi ladies!

I am 13+5 today and so far all my scans have gone as planned and I’m feeling really happy and super grateful.

Howeverrrrr, I had just wondered if anybody feels the same as me - the whole feeling of pregnancy freaks me out a little. This is my first baby and some days I’m fine and it doesn’t bother me but then other days the physical side (my stomach growing and even just the thought of the baby being in there) makes me feel a bit squeamish. I’m hoping this disappears as I get further along as even the thought of feeling the baby move further along (obviously amazes me) but I’m a bit apprehensive on how I’m going to feel when it happens. Maybe I am alone in this, but thought I’d pop it in here to just try and make myself feel better and less weird 😂

I keep thinking how weird it is that a tiny human is in my body. It starts to feel more real and less weird once baby is fully moving around but it’s such a crazy concept!

Hey everyone,

On a related note - we're testing a new idea at Mumsnet and would love your input. It's a feature that helps expecting parents get all the support they need, feel more prepared for birth and have contact with a midwife 24/7 to ask any questions you want. Still very early days so hoping to chat to a few of you to see if you'd find it useful.

If you'd be up for a short chat, there's a £20 amazon voucher in it for you and you'd be genuinely helping us shape a super useful product. Sign up here: LINK.

Either way, wishing you all well x
